Templar
Sundial - Metabasis Flow Records, 2006 1. Together, We Are... 2. Sunfruits Avenue 3. Mystical Weather 4. Seafloor 5. Morphia 6. Azure Aquarings 7. Utopia For Whispering 8. Dellphine 9. Ra 10. Azure Aquarings (Sundial Remix) 11. Just A State 12. Pixelized The publisher of this album is the Portuguese company Flow Records which in 2004 released an album called "Aural Planet - Acoustic Plantation Releases", initiating a series of chillout compilations known as "Chilling Cuts". "Metabasis" is a continuation of this series, not only in terms of name but the music it contains. It is also the fruit of the labour of people who gained their experience through participation in other projects: Itoa, Hoyden Space and Aural Planet. The first studio album of the Sundial project confirms the power of the Polish saying "it's good because it’s Polish" ("dobre bo polskie"). Some of the creators of electronic downtempo (and not only) landscapes, mainly Raiden (Aural Planet) and his team lead us in the direction of a land dominated by peace. The album contains a few tracks that have already appeared on a few chillout compilations, but this in no way negatively affects the album, especially if we take into account their rendition. As far as the other compositions are concerned, there are no unnecessary oddities, yet each track is able to interest the listener with its story. The first track already informs us that we are dealing with a professional production. This does not change later on. The following tracks easily transport us into a dimension of absolute bliss, often causing waves of warmth around the heart. Twelve compositions like the twelve apostles (but without any Judas) bring us the chillout news. Of course a few more energetic productions are also present, like "Azure Aquarings" (a remix is also on the CD) whose apparently lazy dynamics can still compel us to get up and dance, whether at a party or alone. Speaking of parties, the tracks on this CD can serve as an introduction to a trance main course and should definitely find their way into the CD cases of people organizing chillout rooms / stages. When it comes to personal experiences, the entire album contains an irrational, mysterious element which compels us to listen again and discover the things we did not notice the first time. Jumping to other tracks, "Together, We Are…" is a soundtrack for a melancholy walk in the park with a loved one, surrounded by falling leaves. "Sunfruits Avenue" is a walk in a garden full of juicy fruits bathed in the colours of spring and summer. "Mystical Weather" is like observing a frozen lake and forests covered in white snow. "Seafloor" is a lonely journey on the sea in a boat with crystal cities wavering in the background. "Morphia" shows us caterpillars, eating up our gardens until now, currently changing into rainbow butterflies. "Utopia For Whispering" intensifies the green of trees and the sounds of nature in a nearby park and "Dellphine" makes us think of a sofa on the beach, watching the rising sun and hearing the quiet lapping of waves against the shore. “Ra” is a meeting with a long lost friend. "Just A State" is breaking away from the prose of the city and visiting the countryside, where life has a completely different tempo. "Pixelized" is like waking from a deep sleep. Or maybe we are really falling asleep? Everyday life shows that we all need a breath of fresh air. "Metabasis" will cater to the whims of everyone who enjoys chillout moods or just needs a moment to relax. Lovers of Aural Planet type moods should feel at home. "Metabasis" contains many references to previous achievements of these artists is the field of calmer electronics, but at the same time brings many new things, showing how you can create interesting and well thought-out material. This album is a professional Polish production that you can listen to at home on a comfy couch or outdoors on a field. Good headphones, a nice atmosphere and a loved one might prove to be indispensable.
