Insejn
Hey! Check out this that was just posted here: http://www.psynews.org/forums/index.php?/topic/62461-smr035-silicon-sound-combustion-ep/page__view__findpost__p__985610
GagaISM
Maybe Sensient? And if that's the case the rest of Zenon is good too Zenon is to my knowledge usually a bit different to the Scando style, but Cujurius One's Creating A Second Sun and the Rolling Eyes comp fits right within this sub-genre. Maybe the rest too... I don't know.

ollylovesgoa
I think Ace Ventura's acclaimed album - Rebirth is the definition of heavy & pounding, subtle and clever too, ace music.

Zebra Xing
Hi all... first post but long time psy listener & collector. I left a few reviews on this site 10-12 yrs ago when it went by a different name. After a few years off on other tangents I have been ripping all my old cds to Itunes and can easily add some suggestions to your 'pounding minimal' search - Early ZMA records (World Techno Alliance, Zmart, Wizzy Noise-Cybermancy, Paps-2000 hands) for later releases check Connected vol's 1 & 2! - Old Antix releases - Search fora anything between 2000-2003 - Uphonic Records (Rolling Synthochords, Frequent Flyer) - Tristan - Audiodrome (classic album from 1999) - Etic - Touchups (first album from Etay is much more edgy and night influenced than his later stuff) - Orichalcum & the Deviant - (fave old-school release... has some tracks with minimal melodies) - Trimada - Devilish (techy minimal pounding with phat production) - Tatsu Records - Dragon Tales 1 & 2 compils - Magnetrixx - 1st 2 albums - Submachine Records - Intra Muros, Lighten, Travel Pack, & Chrome Compils... also Tetraktys & Lunaspice albums have techy & minimal elements - Prisoners of the Sun - Are you scientific enough? (another classic minimal release from back in the day) - SBK - Treibstoff (first & only essential album from this project which is evolution from... - Tarsis - Vacuum (minimal from back in 1998) - Shiva Chandra - Positive (1998) & Luna Spice (99) + the next two albums he released... much of Auricular's sound you will recognise here - Etnica - Nitrox & their next two albums are very pumping and minimal (except for the chill tracks) - South Africa 2000 - the first cd has some good minimal + you get a really great chill cd - Deviant Species - 2nd & 3rd albums definitely minimal & pounding! - also check Serious Porn Collector for more 'groovy' version of Deviant Species... - Tromesa - Pseudomental - Spiral trax - Only between 2000 - end of 2001... went a bit soft after that. - Psychedelic Electronics - vol. 2 & especially 3 - Celebral Storm (compil) - has a classic old Tantrumz track (thinking of Tantrumz.. I have about 30gig of old unreleased minimal on a HD somewhere from the soulseek & napster days... lots of talented artists that never got releases) - Oxygen (compil) from a little US label - Noisy Implant (renoise recs)... very 'noisy' creamcrop/uphonic style on this one - Parabola (compil) - had some good minimal & my favourite Orion track.... ymmv tho. - Neurobiotic records - Check their second 2 comps - 9 Pills & Fast Forward - recommended! - Lush (compil) - Nanobeat recs ... this is one of my fave releases for this sound. 4-5 good tracks - Old Medium v.a releases like Mahasuka, Stereoide, Neighborhood, Floor all have much of this sound. Thats a few off the top of my head.... there are loads more as I was an avid collector of everything progressive/minimal from between 98-06 but thats enough for one post. Sideffect...
and why haven't I listened to this album before?! Is Psysex just as good? Remember reading about Hardcore Blastoff years ago. Hardcore blastoff from psysex is imo one of the best examples of psytrance. To consider it as a minimal approach, mmmmm, maybe, it is less melodic compared to infected mushroom releases that's almost true... your list is a combination of psytek, some progressive and minimal fullon... So you are rather looking for a minimal approach of those sub genres? If so the above post are good...
ollylovesgoa
and why haven't I listened to this album before?! Is Psysex just as good? Remember reading about Hardcore Blastoff years ago. I have no idea why you haven't heard Rebirth haha, odd considering your obvious taste in psytrance. I reckon Ace Ventura's better than Psysex, it's more on the progressive side of things, but I still like Psysex, Come In Peace is a wicked album, absolutely banging. Zebra Xing
Ok ripped more cds last few nights and have a few more suggestions... Some you may know, some might be 'left of field style' than your list above, & some are exactly on the OP's 'looking for' tip. Baluns Records (Swedish label run by Son Kite) Check v.a-Otherwise & Pope of Gegga album Quarz - S02 (pumping minimal german style?!) Bandit - Looking for the Element (Israeli artist with Atmos/Scando influence... 2-3 good tracks on this one) Aeon Records - v.a Refresh Lish - Dejavoodoo (first album... more pounding & minimal & less progressive than what he became) Candyflip records (v.a Candy (Igneous Sauria influences throughout), Drone- Drastic Plastic CD-EP, Phacelift-Path of Pathos) Electro Psychedelic Trance vol.2 (old POF comp with one of all timefave minimal tracks - Moksha-Iteration rmx) D.I.M.O - self titled album... good stuff here & still sounds fresh Metal Spark - Corrosive ( metallic)... also check Sibilant - Proper Filth (same artist)... minimal 4x4 break trance Digital Structures Label - Early releases 2000-02 are techy/deeper/minimal & less housy... also heaps of obscure vinyl eps worth chasing down Flow Records - Early v.a's like Change, Flowin, Filtered Beats, Non Toxic Frequencies, Blue & Motion Generator Groove Zone Records - Magnetic Storm v.a (only comp from this label to go in this direction) v.a - Progress Chapter one (froggle records) Cybersnack - rebels from the Source (older 99' release that has some good chill and slower 4x4 minimal) Flying Rhino - 3rd Flight through to 8th Flight compils Igneous - Skip Insect (more banging version of Igneous Sauria, though nothing will beat the first I.S. album on Creamcrop) Three Point Turn - By any Meeans Necessary (hard groovy music... hard to describe also) Interzone Records - Interzone 1 & 2 comps (first is very minimal indeed) Innersound Records - Perfect Evolution compil (similar to Undefined Emotional Freqs style) Behind Blue Eyes - CPH (first cd only.... good Beat Bizarre style and what Iboga records should have stuck at to keep my business) Manta Records - One Point Perspective (good NZ comp.... the second one 'Subduction' is pretty good also) Disko Slickers - Slick of it all (album by the guys from Intact Instinct in a similar style) Nerve - No Foco (rare & very good cd ep from the guys from M.O.S... deep & rocking) Cosmopolite - The Second Step (Israeli compil with great tracks from Bitmonx & Dooper Doopler) Stiimulus Vol.1 (first v.a from Nervine recs... only one in this minimal style) Shaman - Foretaste (Plusquam recs... has some good deep scando trance onthis one) Charasmatix - Abracadabra (heavy minimal and pounding but in a good way... first track kills & prefer to Soma Agents) You already have some of my favorites listed like Zerotonine, Igneous Sauria, Haldolium-Deagua era, XV Kilist (early singles 100%!) There is still more but I think that should be enough to offer a load of tangents to go off into, and i get tired of using keyboards that don't have black keys :-) Quick O.T rant - I looked on Ektoplazm.com recently and was shocked to see a style called 'Zenonesque'... this style was around for years before Tim started his label in various forms. Originators would be X-Dream, Tarsis, Moksha, Planet B.E.N, Atmos, Reefer Decree, Der Dritte Raum etc... labels like Spiral Trax (Progress in Trance), Flying Rhino (3rd Flight), Iboga (Ethnobotany) & Creamcrop. Full props to Zenon for their dedication & prolific releases but I guess I like seeing credit go where credit is due. Peace!
Dave
old but still very very good tracks i think Bitmonx - Grabber morphem - Grainalizer s-range - kym mittelstandskinder ohne strom - Timing Amphasis - Taifun cosma - Your 911 Oryx - The Crow Magnetrixx - Phorese and a new track from Sensient called (Judgment Day) really hit the spot ♪♫
GagaISM
your list is a combination of psytek, some progressive and minimal fullon... So you are rather looking for a minimal approach of those sub genres? I can definitely hear the differences yes. So Creamcrop fx would be Psy-Tech right? and then the Daneism' comp is Minimal? Thing is the style of Krumelur, Tenka and so on was done by so few it can hardly be called a genre. Even those acts changed and only a few tracks exist. Even Iboga is different. I would love to hear more of that really hard minimal stuff, but I guess Psytech/Tech-Trance is the only place you'll find someting close to it. Actually there's really a gap in the evolution of Psy here. Something for new acts to explore. I would love to see another talented artist take on the this style: http-~~-//www.youtube.com/watch?v=vfUOaHkwmL4 http-~~-//www.youtube.com/watch?v=G8DZ6_EtpeA

GagaISM
And thanks to you Zebra Xing! I already bought a few of the releases you recommended. That D.I.M.O. album (though more in the Tech-Trance category) is absolutely killer. Reminds me of Die Sonne/Sonnonvakuum. Great stuff. I will be going through all the stuff you have listed. And let me just say another thing. It's so fucking cool to see all you new guys here. I don't know if you have been following the forum for a long time, but the last few years have been quite tough. I really appreciate your participation and I'm sure the other old members do as well!

Krumelur has imo a forest atmosphere which is beautiful. But also has that minimal approach that we notice in fresh minimal releases. It's a hazy zone in psychedelic trance that you are looking for that started with artist like the delta around 2001, There are some like mentioned above but so far I never discovered new artist who decided to chose the same path. I'm still waiting!

I'm still waiting! Exactly! There's most definitely a gap here. I'm actually quite puzzled that we haven't heard more in this vein. I remember Krumelur being quite the hype back then (before the second album) and people still listen to Minimal Animal here in Copenhagen. Agree about the forest vibe. Zebra Xing
Gagalsm, happy to hear you found some things worth buying from those lists. D.I.M.O was never that popular back then but I always had a soft spot for his music. Re. Der Dritte Raum, definitely check out : - Wellenbad (has the classic Trommelmaschine which is still up there with the best tribal trance... was caned at many parties here) - Raumgleiter (too groovy & uplifting for style of this thread but the whole album is a magnificent journey through funky techno & has the classic 'Hale Bopp'... another fave album for sure) You can totally see where Son Kite got their sound from with this artist.
