Guest Pit-UFO
Medicine Drum - Talking Stick Artist: Medicine Drum Title: Talking Stick Label: Cyber Octave Date: 1999 Track listing: 01. 08'44" Written In Stone 02. 07'09" Queen Of Cups 03. 08'41" Skin Up 04. 07'54" Rattlesnake 05. 08'20" Tribal Heart 06. 06'51" Trustafari 07. 08'12" Minaret 08. 07'04" Beyond The Threshold 09. 07'24" Skeleton Crew Review: A very inconsistent album with an another horrible cover. This album is made with collaborations from COSMOSIS, SHAKTA, FUNKOPATH and MINDFIELD. The ancient drums are still there but the vibe and magic gets lost. After two very average tracks SKIN UP begins to regain our trust in Chris Deckker´s talent but RATTLESNAKE really hurts our ears. TRUSTAFARI and MINARET put the smile back on my face, and the last two tracks are good. Medicine Drum used to be about the past meeting the future, not about music from different places like TRANSGLOBAL UNDERGROUND. I was expecting a huge album after SUPERNATURE. I really hope Chris gets his magic back. 6/

Guest jstein01[at]uoguelph[dot]ca
Definitely some cheese here, but at the same time the album should be purchased. SKIN UP And TRUSTAFARI make this album worth the purchase. As for the other tracks, strip away the cheese and there are some solid drums and bass lines. I only wish the whole album could be like SKIN UP, DAMN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! J5
Guest cyberbaba[at]genie[dot]de
I like this album very much. There a very ritual sounds on it. Not like the other noisy and damaged sounds which you hear everywhere. Medicine Drum tried to produce some quality sound which is really different from other artists like hux flux, paps and so on... My favourite tracks are 3,7,8 and 9 but the rest is also ok. 9/
Rih
I don't know what inconsistency means in this case ? I like the production and the sounds of supernature on Free Form more but people's minds change and so does the music. From the first track on talking stick has a positive flow. Medicine drum leaves the path of this deep mystical sounds , I agree, but according to Rox, it has definetly some magic, some new ritual magic on it. The use of more positive sounds goes in favour of the danceability and I mean it's not only magical, it' really fun ! The tracks leave space -'cause they are more relaxed - for your own interaction. Go on your feet, get your djembe or sing with the beautiful chants. I want to hear this after a rainy night on a sunny Sundaymorning. 8/

Guest Davidtolsn
stay away, bad cd. tracks 1 and 7 are decent. the rest has annoying singing and is repetitive and simple sounding. i would not call this goa music, and i would not call it tribal. 5/
