  1. thanks for this thread. i didn't know sensogram. no thread about old progressive would be complete without human blue (even though i think everyone will already know this one). another great artist from back in the day is protonica the closest thing to old progressive i've heard from recent releases is stereofeld

  2. Yes that's the sound. Three really great tracks. I got stuck on vibraspheres catalog though, and unfortunately missed out on alot of other really great prog. So I can't really bring much to the topic that's outside that catalog. But the genre is wonderful, it's always a happy feeling to it. Even darker prog has a positive outlook. You, who have a finger on the pulse of current modern psy, is this genre still prevalent? What years are the tracks you posted from? I like all three alot. But if like to contribute with one of the older vibra tracks and one of the "newer". But it's funny you said everyone knows about vibra and atmos and here I go posting vibra and atmos

  3. @recursion loop MiKro MaKro is very good @Multi-Media the artists are posted on Soundcloud in the "track info" ... so I did not have to guess, however: I confess I'd NOT have guessed those. By the way, I fully share your opionion about the "Psycore/Hi-Tech" subgenre ... that seriously is something I don't need - and I am saying this without any negativeness in my emotion. On the contrary: whenever I nowadays visit a party that has a Hitech floor, I go there, look around, get a smile that goes bigger and bigger, shake my head and I then leave, muttering like an old grandpa, saying: "kids these days" ... because I am amazed at myself how little I understand this music

  4. It seems that some people miss this style, me included. Compared to the todays definition of prog it often had more groovy, syncopated bassline (though sometimes also the typcial KbBB pattern but somewhat more "relaxed"), less starts, stops and shooshes, more mellow and hypnotic flow with lots of lush atmospheric layers and sounds. Everybody knows Vibrasphere and Atmos, but I also like these albums, perhaps less known Freq-Strange Attractors Andromeda - Sensations Sensogram - Parallel Minds What else should I check out, with similar sound?

  5. I recently asked you to help make MDMA a medicine. I was a bit surprised about the comments, many seemed to be unaware of the current research on psychedelics. In the US, John Hopkins university has a Center for Psychedelic and Consciousness Research: This article is a pretty good overview of some of the promising research going on. I encourage you to read Michael Pollan's book How to change your mind. He's a very well known and respected journalist, that decided to write about the research on psychedelics and try it himself. The book got a lot of attention when it was released. Joe Rogan has of course interviewed him, if you want to get a quick overview of what the book is all about. Pollan has even been invited to Google to talk about his book. Some are starting to think that psychedelics might be something like antibiotics for the mind. Polland argues that the benefit of psychedelics will be greater the older you are. He had some previous experience with psychedelics in his youth, and back then it was a good trip, but as he's older he finds it to be a reset of his mind, or something along those lines. I'm pretty sure he talks about it with Rogan. In Canada, they just allowed people dying of cancer to do psychedelic mushrooms to alleviate the fear of dying. In Wales a police boss wants magic mushrooms reclassified and used to treat mental health problems. The list goes on. Psychedelics might turn out to be powerful medicine.

  8. Just a short post, as no one wanted to guess artists in my mix here are they: Sun Control Species, Liquid Soul and Nasser in that order... Edit post TOO short, so some more musings. Even if I like darker music (also from metal) I have severe problems liking the new "darkpsy" stuff, seems too fast and random and nervous. Perhaps better for younger people But worse I found the "Psycore/Hi-Tech" subgenre (listened to examples from the 2 guides)..note however I like older "darkgoa" like Dark Soho some Xenomorph etc. Seems Vibrasphere is a band most like somehow.. FreQ I also liked (not sure if it aged so well) and Atmos (604 album is interesting - and yes I do not mind much the techno influences if done right!)
