  1. Well I suppose it’s about time to officially state that I’m back and making music again. While it will be awhile before I get anything new out there, I have started plugging away at some new tunes. In the meantime I have finally started a Bandcamp page at https://jikkenteki.bandcamp.com While all the material there is also at Ektoplazm, I am also in the process of consolidating some older stuff, compilation tracks and such to put up on Bandcamp as well until I’m ready to unleash some new stuff. As for the new stuff, well “jikkenteki” means “experimental” in Japanese and that name was chosen for a reason...

  2. Sorry i saw the posts throughout the day and figured it was doing fine, but yea, I was pretty vague. "This exactly^ I'm looking for early works from artists, not necessarily freestyle but stuff that ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^ that comment would belong on. So still trance, still psytrance even, but a unique early works that people would consider 'unrestricted'. Dragon Twins and Cronomi's releases I suppose are a good modern take on what i'm after. Or fuck it even a well known freestyle album. Damn this is very vague. I checked out the Demon Tea backlog and thought they had way more in their catalog than the 1 release per year situation (Just cause of how they are referenced a lot) anyway the albums I did listen to where close to what I want. But for the first time ever I'm looking for something a little more well known, maybe 'That' album. BTW I listened to the Talpa album (Great album, very unique) all morning and if it wasn't introduced to me in this thread I would've just taken the easy road and called it 'psytrance'. That's the beautiful part of that name, you can choose to take it literally and then anything psychedelic + anything trance fits in.....But ignore that perspective for the purpose of this thread

  3. i'm aiming for album length atm, so something like 8 full tracks. i typically get lost in the creative stage which is most fun with complete freedom before i get on to sequencing. then i throw out most of the stuff that's not quite good enough and wonder if i can get close to the usual 7 minutes. but in the end most tracks end up with 8min+ anyway imho there is some sense for a psy track in making a journey that lasts for a while for your typical trance inducing dancing experience. you can already subtract maybe one minute at the beginning and one minute at the end if a track is played in a dj set. that leaves you with 5-6 minutes of playtime for a typical track but just 3 minutes for a 5 minute one. i do want to try making something with the structure of early 00s fullon some day, where the track slowly builds up to just one melodic climax at the very end (think talamasca - the old school, or cancer), but during seuqencing it somehow feels wrong if i don't go to full power somewhere between 3:00 and 4:00. i am not from vienna (rtp is) but lived there for a some years a few years ago. tbh i didn't like it very much for psy parties back then (they are either huge and inconvenient or tiny). however they still have outdoor parties now when we have none so i am a bit envious now in pandemic times
