Hello, I have no idea if anyone here knows about this but I really need to upgrade urgently the website of DAT Records, it was created by a good friend of mine but unfortunately he has not the time now to help me and I need this done ASAP. Beside the security issues I would like to implent a stable player to stream mixes, I have like 10 mixes from TheTreeTribe, a mix ready from Dj Solitare, a few from Neurotranmitter and of course there will be one from me but this can't happen unless someone would take one or two hours of his time and guide me through the update step by step. Thanks in advance if anyone can help : ) Draeke

Ah the unique sound of the etnica kicks, I don't know I asked multiple times and I don't have a clear answer, if someone can solve this mystery would be nice. This specific kick could have been taken from some "hit" of the times, as I remember Mauri telling me more than once they "borrowed" some kicks from here and there and then maybe tweaked them a bit but basically ripped it from an existing track as a base.

Etnica - Live 96 [DAT Records - DATCD004]

Hello Paradox! U have no idea about the copyright agencies bureaucracy... that is what is delaying me now. Hold tight though, as there is nothing that I want more than send this baby to the pressing plant. But we are getting there and I am considering 2 different pressing plants, very soon I will know where it will pressed, when it will be delivered to distribution and therefore the official release date. Unfortunately till then I can't say when. If all goes well it will be December, November impossible. it still needs to be pressed and artwork will possibly be finished this week, it is in the hands of Fabien Mars for a collage and some tuning up. The only finished thing is the remastering which took a very long time Some good news, legal issues solved and pressing plant ready, as soon as the artwork is finished, which could be this weekend all is good to go -

Do I think it is 303 speaking here? do u have spectral diffuse? my copy is unplayable for unknown reasons, i bought it mint and stored it properly and the CD even if is still mint, is unreadable and has some "alones" on it. anyhow... cheeers!

Veracohr, I don't mean to insult anybody but if you simply think it is too expensive, you can keep it for yourself maybe, there is no need to spread bad vibes saying "it costs too much" because actual label owners could be reading this and think you are actually saying "they are greedy" which is not what is happening here. I just think is pointless to answer in a thread with a comment on the price which may be read or understood in different ways.

Hey antic, i am sorry you couldn't buy mind rewind, you were not checking discogs or psynews too often, that is all. We announced it every where and wildly, for all who missed it: i am sorry. We pressed 604 and around 300 made it to market, they were on sale on dat records website, on the goatranch and many of the original contributors had copies to sell, I a sure if you ask to the right people you may get lucky and find one. Regarding pressing: I sold only 300 copies of Crossing Mind and I wish I did press 300 of that album, that was liked basically only in Belgium; I lost a lot of money with it and that is a fact. Digital sales provided me only 50 eur after 2 years of release, so what shall i do? there are 700 unsold copies and my distributor told me it won't sell even when sold at 3 pounds. So limited editions for unknown artists are a must nowadays, it is not anymore the 90s as Mars pointed out. As for Crop Circles I almost sold 1000 after 4 years! And that is another true story. Mind Rewind generated an excellent feedback and I am actually wondering if we could offer it digitally which would be a nice thing since a lot of people can't buy it anymore but I think we will have to inform all the artists before doing this. Mind Rewind 2 will be pressed in 1000 copies probably and has a lot of great tracks in it .

A little comment, Hunab Ku is a rare CD and this reissue is to be blessed, for a limited amount of time and for a little amount of money you get a classic, small chances are you won't like it and the mastering sounds right. I am surprised articunt didn't express his rage about this elitarian music being available for the masses. A little note on prices: everything pressed in Japan will have a different price. I think you are all too used to pay for a CD 10 eur, which is an incredibly cheap price for an album, in the 90s the price for a cd was the equivalent of 20 to 30 eur of today, calculating the cost of living (actual conversion would say 10 to 15 eur but that isn't a proper conversion) and back then a CD pressed in japan was around 40 to 50 eur so by all means something that costs 18 eur from japan is extremely cheap. Now, some of you may live in poorer country but please don't insult the Japaneses for their prices, that is the way it is. Same as is an extremely good price 35 eur for Ubar Tmar 3CD. End of my rant, as I am sick to read people commenting how expensive these discs are, please STOP, if you cant afford it I am sorry but just don't buy it.

Thanks for all the nice words The original artwork was different, this is how the band wanted it, after multiple edits. Originally there was a different totem rendered by the artist. It is final, but I like the contrast between the background and the totem itself, it says: it is oldschool but remastered, so in a way it is also modern, and that is what it says. Right now I am still waiting for the rest of the graphics. I hope to send everything to the pressing plant soon! -

Mastering was the part that I followed in details and after testing a lot of possibilities I found someone that worked under my specifics, with attention to certain details such as a maximum loudness of +5-6 dbs, which is what was back then. Then I asked to bring out all the tiny details of the tracks and the result is beyond my expectations. Some tracks are showing some details that I have never heard before, and trust me, I do know these etnica tracks like my pockets. I also want to mention that the restoration work on Mental Puzzle was enormous and I can't thank enough Colin to make it happen, that track is sacred to me for some reasons and I am almost crying for the joy of finally unleashing it to the mass. -

Hi Neurogen and all listening, a little update: Audio Magician Colin @SeeWhyAudio did miracles working on Mental Puzzle and gave me back a jewel, a perfectly sounding track. Analog Dimension restored Time Dilation Remix and is working on the rest, so I expect to have all the remastered audio files ready in one week. Artwork is also proceeding well and we are almost there, as soon as Etnica approves the front cover I will post it everywhere. As for the rest I hope to press it early November and have it on the shelves the first week of December just in time for Xmas, but don't worr by all means I will do all I can to have it out in 2012, I won't wait January. That said, I also have in mind to release the liveset on vinyl, once the CD is out I will investigate on costs and make a pledge pay to contribute to the pressing, as my finance don't allow me to invest on vinyl, this release cost me thousands already and I really can't bet on vinyl sales, so, If enough people will pledge and actually pay me before the release is pressed I will have it released on a beautiful 3LP at 180gr, 1 track per side, just the live, which is awesome. -
@reyu, that is a reasonable price, there is no shop offering for less, that's the right price, you wont ever find it for 10-15 eur, sorry. But it is worth every penny

Thanks for the info Frozen Dream, yeah by all means upload a preview I'd be curious. To answer Reger and all the others, there were some problems with my website because I renewed the domain but i forgot to pay the mysql fee and now it's on the queue to be reactivated, sorry.. as soon as is back online I will update the website as well. Update on the status of the release: Artwork: is on the make, some first versions were made, we had some talking between me the artist and etnica and we are going forward with a possible "final version", Mastering: I have Analog Dimension working on the music and SeeWhyAudio making a test repair on Mental Puzzle as well, I will then choose the best version to give to history (this release is getting to be the most expensive cd ever... for me at least) Pressing: Will be pressed in standard 2CD Jewel case with 8 page booklet (4 in reality) and in 1000-1500 copies. There won't be limited editions this time as I am trying to rush and release before Xmas Rest: I am preparing promo sheets and all the material, but hang on, it is coming soon!! Draeke -

I think the girl is sweet, I like the cover the way it is! Cyberpunk girls were so in the 90s, I don't see why not!? And good news for the physical release too. Now does anybody know if there will be a DVD of their live PA in 2008? There was a video on their myspace page... -

Frozen Dream, I'd be curious to hear, is it a remix you made or a remaster of their originals edits? Did you work on true audio material or on the mp3 that were floating around. Masen, in due time ifo live, in due time ... Prepare for etnica live now!! thanks for all the lovely vibes... booooom! -

Hi reger, you won't be disappointed all these tracks are from the 90s . During my researches in Ibiza appeared multiple takes of known tracks, some never heard before and some remixes, I did chose what in my opinion is the best between the unreleased material. Electric Shower exists in many different mixes but I came to the conclusion the one that I chose will deliver properly. Mental Puzzle is known as Monkey Business in the P2P networks and circulated since the late 90s, but the DAT version is much better, richer in sounds and with more details. The remix of Jungle Track is something to hold your breath... you will hear. And Fluorophilia Camps Bay is another discovery, never circulated anywhere, its a great track too. Ciaoooooo!
