Hi all, I'm trying to find this album in CD format - I'd like an original CD but since it's not for sale anywhere I guess a copy of original CD would be fine too.. thanks
-
Ott is putting out a new album right? That's all I care about mostly... Abakus and Matenda are about due for another one too...
-
Well does anyone know if 128 kbps MP4 is same quality as 128 kbps MP3? Do the MP4 cost more or something? If they're the same price why would anyone download MP3 if the quality is less than MP4?
-
Sorta "maximal" music actually - maybe "minimal" in that the use of melody is sparse (at least in Cryptic Crunch)... I though "Cryptic Crunch" had way more personality than "Division by Zer0", which I thought sounded a bit sterile and dull... Hux Flux may not use melody all that often, but the ones they use are my favorite ever, in terms of being twisted, groovy, and making me want to dance... "Degauss" is completely ridiculous in terms of melody, super psychedelic and emotional track....

A friend of mine downloaded a bunch of MP4 music from iTunes or somewhere at 128kbps - she says that but rate doesn't affect the sound quality of these MP4 - she says since she paid for the whole CD it must be CD quality.. Is this true? is 128 MP4 better than 128 MP3? Is iTunes selling music at CD price for download and then offering it at 128?

I couldn't find the albums for sale online so I downloaded them at 320 kbps from www.beatport.com... "One Drop or Two" and "Superior Technology" Both are killer, I liked the "Superior Technology" album a little better on first listen though... Properly twisted psychedelic music, very smart and clever sounding stuff...

Just got this the other day - the new Vibraspirit - not the same as Vibraspirit 23.11 or Vibraspirit 23 etc - not sure what the deal with the numbers is... Anyhow this one here is terrific in the morning full-on-ish sort of way. It's more psychedelic and less irritating than most full-on though, by far - reminds me a bit of the V/A "Occurance" released earlier this year on Oxygen records, but this one is quite a bit better I think... Anything compiled by someone named "Franny" has got to be good as far as I' concerned In general the tracks here are highly melodic and catchy, killer hooks... It's all very polished sounding, but not too much in the direction of obnoxious full-on sounds and "phat" production... I won't do a track-by-track review because I'm no good at that, but I can highly recommend this comp... The music is a lot like the cover - fun, colorful, bright, positive, and euphoric...

I haven't listened to anything by this artist but heard they are fantastic - any opinions or recommendations?

Just got this album - am VERY impressed! The chill CD is just fabulous! Jikkentekki has his own style for sure, hard to describe exactly but it rocks - and it's all just very psychedelic and deep - this music will take you there... The Trance disc reminds me a little bit of Koxbox circa "Forever After", but not really like that at all either, very cutting edge but yet somehow old-school in terms of the sense of spirit - some of the sections are just wicked - heavy heavy atmospheres - pure psytrance, not the over-polished full-on garbage this scene is saturated with... I can't believe this double CD was only $9.99! I'd pay more than that for each disc on it's own... This though is clearly music released as art, not as something designed to please anybody...

It's true about the psytrance being pretty weak for the most part, a few albums here and there have got it though IMO (Fuzzion, Nystagmus, James Reipas) ------------ You know what is WAY better now though is all the psychill/downtempo stuff - Shpongle, Ott, IM, Shulman, Bluetech, Abakus, Electrypnose, Matenda, Tripswitch, Gaudi, Trentmoller - This has most all been since the year 2000 - we've had a whole slew of fantastic chill albums... I'm mostly excited nowadays about the downtempo releases because they are the one's that are each really unique, true artist albums... Ott and Shulman are comming out with new albums, and I've heard both Talpa and Nystagmus are working on chill albums too... Part of the problem with psytrance is that the BPM format doesn't allow as much creativity as the downtempo stuff...
-
I'll have to listen to the samples again too - I checked all the tracks out and it all just sounds sort of bland to me... The others seem really excited about it though so maybe I'm missing something...

Vibraspirit 11.23 (Sundance Records)
healium replied to Mike A's topic in Artist News and Labels announcements
The promo text may be lame, but Sundance has consistently put out the highest quality psytrance - not too dark, not too light, and always fully psychedelic... -
I ordered "Implant" and "Science of the Gods" from Saikosounds today along with some other stuff - liked the samples I heard... I didn't get into the samples from "Abduction" as much though, and the "Decadence" album didn't really do it for me at all the couple bits I heard... That style I heard on Implant and Science of the Gods is killer though, the way they pace the tracks, just sorta rolls along... I'm feeling guilty though spending money on music like this though - a psytrance habit is worse than drugs I swear
-
Amazing cover, promising tracklist, seen it at saikosounds...
-
Can you recommend an Eat Static album? I've only heard the track "UFO over Trenchtown" which I loved - so fresh and groovy sounding... Are they the same as Ozric Tentacles then too? I have several of the Ozric albums....
-
The Phatmatix album "Sorcery" sounds like it could be the new Misted Muppet album IMO... I thought the first Misted Muppet album was too aggressive also though

Shulman - Endless Rhythms of the Beatless Heart
healium replied to abasio's topic in Artist News and Labels announcements
Yah I'm a little skeptical of Shulman these days - I loved "In Search of..." but the last psuedo-album seemed like there wasn't too much inspiration... Felt the same way about the last Bluetech album - hopefully Aleph Zero isn't going down the pooper... -
VA_-_Pyramidal_Trancendence-2006-MPR OUT ON NOW!
healium replied to oCtodur's topic in Artist News and Labels announcements
Hehe, no, and I still don't after reading that! -
Wow, this is very interesting! So if you have un-compressed music you need to listen in to it loudly on a good stereo if that music has a large dynamic range? What does it mean when an album sounds like all the sounds are comming from the same place, like there's no "space" between the sounds?

I'm not able to download off the Ektoplasm site - the Bitorrent thing - when I click on "MP3" to downlaod it asks if I want to "save", and when I click that it saves it right away but not as something I can listen to... Any idea what I'm doing wrong? -
Thanks for the description! Is the parts where the artist pans sound and makes some sounds louder than others part of sound production? An album like Koxbox "Dragon Tales" for instance has excellent layering and panning of sound, so I would say it has good sound production - is this right? The mastering on that album then would be considered un-compressed? I think I know what you mean about the "loud" sounding stuff...
-
Yea this is killer... I didn't like it much the first couple listenens but just this past couple days I've been loving it... This is seriously psychedelic and colorfull music, and so well paced... Koxbox have a way of using sounds very well, they're all so rich and distinct from each other... Apparently Hux-Flux was heavily influenced by Koxbox - and you can hear it in Koxbox music...
-
What do people mean when they talk about the "mastering" on an album? How do you judge mastering? What does good or bad mastering sound like? Is sound "production" just the clarity and distinction between the layers? How do you know good or bad "production"
-
Yah this album is fantastic! A classic, even...

Light Aromas - Chillcode CHILLCD007
healium replied to chillcode's topic in Artist News and Labels announcements
I so wish Vibrasphere would release a downtempo album... I've never really liked their trance tracks but the downtempo is excellent...
