  1. Lol, yea I was hoping people would just post one release - I appreciate the multitude of suggestions and I thank you for taking the time - but like I say, I don't really go for the Suntrip/neo-goa stuff anyway - I do also follow the reviews on these neo-goa releases and am basically aware of which albums people seem to enjoy.. So like, if you were told you were going to be living on an island and could take with you only 1 neo-goa release, which would it be?
  2. Yes I like his downtempo a lot also - "Movements" and many of his earlier compilation tracks. I've had more trouble getting into "Until we Meet the Sky" and "Leaving Home" though - I listen to a lot of downtempo and psychill but I have to be feeling really really mellow to want ambient type work - and those occasions are not frequent.. I think I'll start trying to listen to it during study times and so forth though, see if it takes..
  3. Yea I think I like this more than "Earthshine" from 2007 overall. Earthshine is amazing due to the amount of layers and details and so forth - but it's sort of a hybrid between progressive and full-on - it doesn't generally have that hypotic trancey effect that I enjoy from progressive, but it's not quite melodic or catchy enough to flip all my full-on switches either. That said it's an amazing album - when I hear it on headphones I'm always blown away. "Random Friday" though is fully a progressive trance album - gives the trance effect bigtime, and also adds some beautiful melodies - it sounds much more spacious than "Earthshine" - Earthshine feels a little claustrophobic to me at times, no room to breath - Random Friday though I can enjoy on more occasions due to the space and pace of it.. Both albums are fantastic - Solar Fields is a true master - his attention to detail and the way he arranges sounds is just brilliant..
  4. I don't care much for the neo-goa genre, but I want to get into it more - can you please recommend the absolute best of this genre, in your opinion? Something that really stands out. Let's see if I get converted..
  5. This is hit-or-miss for me - I really like parts of most tracks, but he has a heavy-handed style at times that I don't dig too much - very in-your-face type music - noisy and discordant at times. My typical experience when listening to one of these tracks is like "Oh yea, that's sounding pretty good... Ok, yea, now this is a pretty killer track.. Wait, hold on, WTF is this crap?? Ok, thank god that passed, sounding pretty cool again... Wait, WTF??" and so on.. I'm liking it much better on headphones - warming up to it over time.
  6. Really enjoying this album - one of my favorite recently - I enjoy this type of progressive - very spacious in the sound arrangements, catchy without being cheesy or commercial sounding.
  7. Digicult - The Lucid Nation (2012) - Really it's just three tracks that I listen to - the two with URecken and the one with Hux Flux - those are all pretty killer in my opinion - the rest of the tracks are pleasant and somewhat enjoyable to me but don't inspire. Melodic full-on type music - artfully done and very emotional though - catchy melodies too which I love. V/A - Conundrum Concoction (2012) - Epic psychill compil from Derango, Conundrum Concoction, Molokow, and Prisma - the whole album is deeeeep trippy downtempo of the highest quality - kinda the forest sound - superb journey music. Two tracks by Derango - The Unsane Tale" and "The Oaks Tale" are both among my favorite downtempo tracks ever - I don't go for Derango's uptempo music but this psychill here is off the charts.
  8. Haven't heard any Krumelur before - but I'm loving the samples I'm listening to on "Minimal Animal" - how is the second album "Paramoral"? I had a friend recommend Krumelur to me awhile back since I love Hux Flux so much but never checked it out.. Nice call on Psysex "Hardcore Blastoff" for 2002 btw - if it weren't for Classical Mushroom I'd have chosen that one too.. Man, this thread is great, I'm catching up on some classics that I hadn't heard - just downloaded the Blue Planet Corporation album too - I'm not too much into the "typical" goa sound but that album is really nice..
  9. Haha - I like it to some extent, what I've heard - but I have the same issue with it that I get with a lot of the darkpsy - it has this relentless, wall-of-sound thing going on that I don't care for - too many sounds all thrown together, not arranged in a very coherent or catchy manner - I appreciate the madness of it, but I like my madness with better organization usually.. I should prolly explore the genre more though - some of the music along those lines I really dig - James Reipas "Uwaga" is a killer album though not really Suomi - and this Igor Swamp album that Travbrad recommended is pretty sweet too - that one sounds pretty Suomi-ish.. Listening to the Psyknights album today also - what a score - I bought that for $5.99 on iTunes and the Igor Swamp album for $1.99 on iTunes - really liking the Psyknights album - very creative and psychedelic music for sure - heady stuff..
  10. I really dig the progressive house and especially the tech house. Looking for some of the trippier takes on these genres.. I love psytrance for listening, but I don't really like to dance to psytrance - beat is too fast for me.. House music though, especially tech house - I LOVE to dance to that!!
  11. Good call! That album sounds really fresh and trippy on the samples I heard - gonna download it for sure - thanks! Been struggling to find some really inventive and weird psytrance that doesn't get all silly like the pure Suomi stuff - not a big fan of Suomi though I enjoy quite well some of the old Texas Faggot tracks.. That "Psyknights" abum from 2006 you listed sounds pretty awesome on the samples too - prolly gonna get that one.. I'm impressed with iTunes these days - been able to find lots of fairly obscure psytrance releases on there - didn't used to be able to.
  12. I find Chilling Cuts Vol 1 on iTunes - score!
  13. Yea I've tried to get into that album but have not yet been able to - need to put it on headphones I think - that's how I "discover" most of my favorite albums. I like a couple of the tracks but it doesn't grab me overall. I'll give it another spin though
  14. Samples sound good - might buy this one.. Def they are into long builds..
  15. This is one of the deep hypnotic trance albums - the best progressive trance has this effect for me - it's easy to miss the magic the first time around - I'm blown away though by this album - has vaulted to Top-5 status in terms of progressive albums on my list..
  16. This music is perfectly ridiculous - I think I like it though - it's like he took the scandinavian sound from 1999-2001, combined it with the Suomi sound, and strapped it to the back of a missile..
  17. Very Tough Call! Top 10 would be way easier.. But here's what I got, if we're gonna be getting down to brass tacks: Ott - Blumenkraft Ott - Hallucinogen in Dub Entheogenic - Spontaneous Illumination Solar Fields - Movements Shulman - Endless Rythms of the Beatless Heart V/A - Natural Born Chillers
  18. Fun thread - going through and checking samples of some of these that I haven't heard. Here's what I've got: 1995 Hallucinogen-Twisted 1997 Koxbox - Dragon Tales 1998 X-Dream - Radio 1999 Hux Flux - Cryptic Crunch 2000 Atmos - Headcleaner 2001 Infected Mushroom – Classical Mushroom 2002 Psycraft - Gravitech 2003 Phony Orphants - Symphony 2004 Misted Muppet – From the Legend 2005 Nystagmus – The Immaculate Perception 2006 Fusion – Black Magic 2007 Tea Chairs – Tea Chairs 2008 Kino Oko – Alphabetically Divided Highway 2009 Hedonix-Order out of Chaos 2010, 2011 N/A - not digging the neo-goa type stuff or the darkpsy either.. 2012 Digicult – The Lucid Nation
  19. Haha - fair enough! Solar Fields is hit or miss for me - "Movements", this album for trance, and some of his earlier stuff though is great.. Gonna check out "Earthshine" again - didn't get into it the first time around, but then I wasn't really into progressive back then either..
  20. Just wanted to say this album is super sick and way underrated - fantastic work here!
  21. I could go for a Logic bomb remix of classic Hux Flux tracks..
  22. It is apparently just about finished, and there are a bunch of clips on Soundcloud. Does anyone have news on this? The original release date was 4/12/12, but it has been delayed. On his facebook page though he updated recently and says it is almost ready. I can't wait! In this world of generic neo-goa and full-on music I've heard so much of, a new Hux Flux album will be epic - I love what I've heard on soundcloud so far - he's bringing back a lot of melody, which was missing from "Division by Zero" for the most part. "Cryptic Crunch" and a lot of his V/A tracks had those super twisted melodies and I'm glad to see he's using some more of them..
  23. Well, that's a huge statement - but, I LOVE the 3 Derango tracks on the V/A "Conundrum Concoction". Especially "An Unsane Tale" and "An Oak's Tale". "An Unsane Tale" is easily one of the best psychill tracks I've ever heard - it blows my mind and fills me with joy every time I give it a focused listen.. The whole compil is fantastic - if you like psychedelic downtempo you absolutely must have that compil. Is Derango planning to down a downtempo album does anyone know? I don't care for his uptempo music much at all, but the downtempo is just fantastic..
  24. Yea that Hedonix album is killer! One of my favs..
  25. Will get to the others in a bit here - checked out "Reactant" though - interesting stuff - I like it overall - reminds me a good bit of Sensient from "Antifluoro" album.. I don't like his vocal samples too much though..
