Like there isn't anything the slightest bit goth about darkpsy We all know melodic full on is emo.
-
+1 to the very shitty mastering. This is a great album... but will fall short of the amount of listening/playing a great album deserves because of that mastering. Definitely some great tracks there.

Why does this thread advertise a store called gothoholics?

ding ding ding ding ding ding, ding ding *in time and note to: becoming insane* played on some 11 year old wannabe emo's phone. -
Ha, I should move to japan, afaik there are no psy shops here, although maybe there will be some time soon. I mean fuck, I saw some guy playing didgeridoo psytrance the other day in the city.

Sorry, but does this improve the quality of their music, or the fact they've sold out? I'm allmost glad they have, it could be a good lesson to other artists. -
Free upload sites...

Yes, and honestly... I don't think they are going to care about some crappy music genre dj. -
Can you synthesize with your mind?
Darkarbiter replied to Malevol3nt's topic in Music Making and Production/Industry
Well kind've but not really, its more kind've gradually getting more the more I play around with it; ask me again in 6 months. So no, I don't think I could imagine what a sawtooth would sound like modulated to the adsr and pitch of a pink noise oscillater, but maybe a some different global envelope adsr settings... and more as I play around with and become accustomed too more. -
I'm suprised as to how this came about, it came from about 3 tracks, to a full 8-14 track set in about 30 hours, but I'm pretty happy with how it turned out, although really its hard to judge while actually mixing it, and I haven't had a chance to listen to it again since then. However there are an absolute ton of tracks I love in there, and I think the general idea/flow probably went rather well, so I hope you guys enjoy My focus has been on the overall mood of the songs, and their energy level rather then strictly being very similar in every way, one after another, although the most of the transitions are key matched. The focus has basically been on, impressive first two tracks, filler (although not necassarily boring ofc) epic, filler, etc... you get the idea. Basically based around what song would go great after the previous few songs, and around exactly the mood I wanted while keeping up with the general overall sound. I'm a bit worried that I sort of used two cool of tracks(and the third last one was pretty chill too), but I'll have to listen again to see how it actually turned out. Anyway, as mentioned before, hope you guys enjoy At the very least I think this will be in my top 2 mixes. Tracklist: 1. Showtek-FTS(hard mix) 2. S.U.N. Project-These guys 3. S.U.N. project-going back in time 4. Electric universe-gajinrocker 5. S.U.N. project-what comes next 6. Electric universe-the prayer 7. Xerox and Illumination-Helium 8. Bamboo Forest-cliche'h 9. Electric universe-Nova 3 10. Cosma-mixed up 11. Astrix-Wider(rmx) 12. Electric universe-Return to the source It's in 256k mp3 btw http://files.filefront.com/dance2psytrance...;/fileinfo.html

Make that I no longer use filefront.com but thats only because my connection keeps resetting every 20-40 minutes pretty reliably so I am unable to comeplete an upload and they're website doesn't support resuming.
-
Well I'm guessing you'll probably give the original artist a SLIGHTLY higher amount of money or get it slightly cheaper buying direct, but the profit margins on sites like amazon etc run in the cents, so don't really worry about it.

Infected mushroom a definite maybe I heard vicous delicous on in some semi fancy hat store in san francisco, this is where my faith in them finally died. I think shpongle/vibrasphere are somewhat well known in the chillout scene also. The more dedicated trance fans might have heard of astral projection/man with no name also.
-
Yep, same as me (haven't heard any of those tracks though), and its more a pattern/shape and with individual elements.
-
I use filefront.com, they have yet to delete 4 of my 5 sets. The best part is if they are going to delete them they give you 4 days notice, and you can click a do not delete button (it takes ages to delete if you get a reasonable number of weekly dls too). They have yet to find out it isn't gaming related though lol

I have about 30 of these if you want them, 2 hours of picking nice moments with acidwax and gimp

Cray1 owns one. My favourite net radio station would have to be techno.fm Tons of sets, and primarily sets would be the main reason. They've got a psy channel, but I mostly listen to the techno one. The dude who runs the psy channel owns a psy tekk label, so you get a lot of that stuff on there too. Mostly though, for psy I listen to dled sets. [edit] cray3 sorry

I've never done drugs, but I still get visuals quite often from music. Unfortunately its not very visceral, and its usually just individual elements. I dunno also, acidwax has helped a bit with it... I mean when I think wow, this colour/shape goes great with this feeling... now my brain sometimes thinks of that colour/shape when I get that feeling in music Like when I think about a kick, its usually a black circle(or sometimes kind've a oval, if it is big and boomey and has a long tail), with the shade/shade of various parts to do with what frequencies it has. That also kinda affects the size. Thats kind've what I think of when I think of a mid heavey but punchey kick, IDK though.. I kinda messed the shape of the bottom up. It should be thicker at the bottom, but not all triangley :S I really need a better program to draw it, that was just a quick botch up. I fail at drawing... I dunno... sometimes... I can visualise stuff... but its not so easy to quantize it into an explanation or worse attempt to draw it. One of the easier thins to visualise I think, is probably that main lead in butlet and wilson-dimension, it's kind've a cross/web of aqua lines, although kind've circular where the lines meet, like a certain kind of net... +theres also some kind've a few sploches of tiny to medium size split around the place... like they've broken off from the main bit, because it is too powerful and they couldn't hold on.

Interesting thread 1. Morning/Dark balance Not entirely dark, but also uplifting and happy a bit too, although very much sinister/darkness too, however as mentioned needs some happyness. 65% dark 35% light. Something like TIP-hyperspaced/world of the acid dealer, or mfg magnetic activity. 2. Maximal/Minimal balance 70% maximal. Good use of melodies, and more memorable and nice use of them. Like transwave. 3. Trance/Techno balance Techno is much harder to get wrong (well from what I've heard) however, trance can go that little bit further. 80% trance, 20% techno. 4. Genre balance Goa/forest psy. Bamboo forest-cliche'h perfect here. 5. BPM 140-155 6. Signature 4/4, although 3/4 can be great too, and I'm sure 5/4 is quite interesting. IDK though about in psy though, I'd have to hear examples. Probably doesn't matter though. Theres plenty of interest left in 4/4, and other time signatures can be good too. 7. Lenght Normally 7-9 minutes, but for the perfect track standout track, 9 and a half to 11. Really though, this could be the most killer epic track or the most killer boring/intro (well not boring, but sounds as if not much is happening... which ofc has an art too it to, and there are so absolutely magnificent examples of this so for building energy in a set or an intro an an album) 8. Melodies A cross between transwave and etnica, a few super uplfiting melodies that get repeated, but with tons of other stuff going on as well. 9. Bassline A very nice bassline that stands out just with the eqs that creates energy(so morning psyey bassline). However kind've does the odd 16th note at the end of a phrase etc, as well as maybe changes a bit during the course of the song. 10. Percussion Status Mid heavey/punchey kick. 11. Intro/Outro Outro will be feature a really nice classic trancey pad, playing 3 notes that will fit in absolutely brilliantly with the rest of the song, and make it all make sense and epic (have a look at sourmash-the blessing... oh my fucking god). I can't give specifics on intro... 12. Layers See my melody thoughts. A few layers of percussion like in techno wouldn't be bad either. 13. Build Ups/Climaxes It's a 9 and a half to 11 minute track. Have a look at phreaky over the moon. That has at least 5 breakdowns, with several climaxes and one mega climax. I'd expect similar. 14. Twists/Breaks/Turns/Changes Thats kinda similar to the last. The track should evolve, but have brilliant flow. There will be an absolutely awesome pad that comes in about 10 mins in (ok lets assume its 11 minutes long then) with a re emergence and emphasis of the main melody, and a quick and sad outro. There will be a new melody that somewhat changes the mood of the song at 5 minutes, and 7 minutes will change it back again... about 2 minutes later the track will finally conclude with a massive climax. 15. Spoken samples/Singing/Real Organs Kind've intelligent sounding speach about something in the first couple of minutes, that kind've comes in and out. Like bamboo forest-cliche'h Perfect synaesthesia color: Tracks that fit my description the best: Sourmash-the blessing. But in general a combination of thats melodies, the melodies of transwave-ulysses, the flow of phreaky-over the moon and crazy breakdowns of, and the energy/feel of etnica-astral way/party droid along with the fx and amazing synths of bamboo forest-cliche'h.

Do you feel goa/psy can compare with classical music?
Darkarbiter replied to karan129's topic in General Psytrance
Vangelis. http://au.youtube.com/watch?v=TYJzcUvS_NU I guess tangerine dream would be more classical influenced ambient though. http://au.youtube.com/watch?v=eq_d0DKqyos -

Exactly, in music I appreciate three things Melody (obvious) rythmn and timbre (my catch all phrase for the overall sound of each of the sounds, so like the attack on the synth... and every little setting... down to the eqs etc) I find non edm genres don't focus nearly enough on timbre. I mean you can have an acid track that is basically the same notes for 4 minutes of the song straight... but make it sound amazing with just different attack/envelope etc settings... and instead of having an up down melody, you have up down of the synth settings... and it creates a similar yet different effect... that you can obv use at the same time as changing melodies to make things far more interesting. I mean for instance, when I hear a rock album... and they use the exact same kick for the slow track as the fast track thats just an instant *banghead* moment. Then again something like heavy metal has quite some focus on this too. I think every little setting on a song tells you more about how your meant to be feeling, and the more the better, although more elements isn't necessarily better. -
Subcouds-on red Doof-Lets turn on Both use notes that are halfway between two western notes. And isn't that what pitch bend is for?

Could you please recomend some music in the non conformist genre?

whats your personal favorite format of music?

Well, I think if 192khz isn't better then 44.1khz, then infinite isn't better then 44.1khz either.
