Would you care for a non free psytrance magazine?
Darkarbiter replied to Ormion's topic in General Psytrance
I most certainly would be. -
I think new school is different because it has a different sound. It sounds very much like dimension5/ a few other artists from the late goa era though, maybe even pleiadians to an extent. It's kind've sad there isn't that much trippey/indian stuff about though.

Suntrip T Shirts (and the Freeze mix-cd) for sale :)
Darkarbiter replied to Anoebis's topic in For Sale/ Trade
Gah no decent colour combinations (I really hate the colour yellow ). I probably won't be able to buy for a couple of months, but will there be any chance of a black base/background colour and purple or red or anything thats not yellow really design for either the d5 or apsara shirt in the somewhat near future? -
Drosphilia has some great tracks, well they are all great up until the title track, and the final track is great also. Macrophage I haven't heard that much of, but doesn't really impress me. Wicked is a great album though, some tracks better then others... but what comes next, machines from the future, these guys and a few others on that are great. I sortof like the st pauli remix of dance of the witches, but the original and the x black album version are pretty crap. The only track I've ever liked from their prog era, is 4-7 days... but goddamn, it is an absolutely awesome track. In terms of popularity... they tend to be on all the people I've talked to that like psy's favourite lists. So I dunno what you mean. The only truely oldschooley track they've made is probably tribolous (which is quite good) so that would explain why they're not so popular with goa people.

CompactStick - the successor of the CD
Darkarbiter replied to RTP's topic in Music Making and Production/Industry
@ this thread and the arguments going on. -
The orion mix is one of those mixes that kind've sounds improved. Then you listen to the original... and theres something more basic and magical and fun that the remix is just missing. So the remix ends up getting maybe a 7/10... with the original being an 8/9 /10 imo.

Vinyl may not be erasable... but it doesn't last forever. -

Totally lame. I prefer my cd and artwork thanks. -
Skream's self titled (well actually I think it's called Skream!) is a very good place to start. Great tracks, some dub... some dubstep... of the more darker or reggaey varient, some grime hell even a jazzy uk garage track near the end.

Ehh well anyway, pretty fucked.

Orion-Liquid (145ish goa trance) and exium sphere (185ish hardcore techno) It uses allmost the exact same main melody. Can't youtube ya but will provide <30 second links in a while.

9/10 there aren't many albums that equal, and only one that exceeds it. best tracks 1, 5, 7 3/6 are quite interesting and powerful yet different as well. However not quite as solid as the latter. Great flow between the tracks as well, a great album with much listening time.

Is it just me, or does the video clip link no longer work? :@

It's under buttrock goa because it features electric guitar

I dunno... doesn't really seem that psy to me, maybe futuristic but it lacks the curves and kaleidescopic nature of psy artwork.
-
Not too sure about the whole mono idea however... I mean thats half the bitrate gone and no stereo field. Might check out anyway... and wow did not know AP and MFG have collabed before. Sounds interesting.

He said other electronic, not psychedelic music. Splittercore? http://au.youtube.com/watch?v=pmjyltLIM_Y

I'm not too sure about why the delta-as a child I could walk on the ceiling isn't (psy)tech trance either. I wonder when ishkur gets a lot wrong about the genre I know most about what his credability in other genres that I assume he is correct on is.

Both are good, but I find trance can go that little bit further and techno tends to be a lot more solid or simply crap. Although tbh I don't really see much difference in feeling between say minimal psy and techno. The extra rythmn is great, but at the same time I miss the maximalness of trance a lot. My favourite genre is goa/psy which is trance obviously... but apart from that I don't really think it makes much difference, techno tends to be certain moods and more minimal though obviously. Although I find only acid techno can fulfil that fully trancey/trippey thing that some goa/psy gives you. Emmanuel top-turkish bazaar (original mix) is great however... and hell I saw that in goa getter 1, a goa trance mix. So I think overall it just really doesn't matter. Basically: Trance needs more rythmn and less dud elements, techno needs more maximal use of synths and modulation, and epicness and trippeyness and breakdowns (emmanuel top does awesome breakdowns however).

Yeh I was thinking after hearing schranz for the first time, wow... this has a lot of hardstyle sounds, like the off base... kicks etc, but that doesn't really mean much. The way its arranged is often so :posford: and much more rythmn and melody and stuff. +there's not this whole supersaw or overly reliant on chorus crap. Cannot compare really... schranz is what hardstyle is supposed to be+the quality level is way higher.

That was a terrible doco. Last hippy standing however was excellent

Other Electronica Dat is more piekadelik ..

Acid techno. Emmanuel top-Turkish bazaar (orirsnal version) -
http://www.ektoplazm.com/free-music/cybern...heric/#comments The first track is great... didn't know what to think of when I saw it ran for about 15 minutes before listening... but great bassline... and progression in general. Hardly even noticed the length... and brilliant pads I think this will begin to grow on me... and will certainly have lots of replay value 9.3/10 The second track is slightly better... some absolutely amazing melodies and a great bassline/kick combo as well as great flow and finish. I love the finishing melody. It's like dark psy... only without the overly trying to be dark sounds, but still nice and dark in mood yet sometimes uplifting. This would be a great in between track for sets somewhere near the end of it, it would really build the energy as well as it being quite uplifting near the end. Did I mention this has great flow? 9.6 The third track has an interesting intro and has a fairly dark bassline compared to the others. I love the melodyish synth that goes along with it about 2 minutes in. Epic, dark, dancey . This would be a crazy track for sets... I'm practically orgasming over the idea of where to place it. I dunno about the kick in this track though. Otherwise its great. This track is kind've horror in mood... sortof uplifting... and scarey but not even overly trying to be scarey... just a subtle way the melodies work together. Which is a great thing to have. I really love cybernetika's placement of... erm base drops... or whatever you call it when you drop out the kick so only the base plays for a while, really well done in this track and the 1st track. 9.6 Hmm the title track... with breakbeats Yes, I love the mood of this one. Epic with very good melodies and mood... very dancey yes yes yes. :posford: The second bit after about 5:50 is an interesting change in direction... this truly will end up being a very replayable track, I can tell. Derp, I'm a little lost at the 11 minute mark. Hmm... it seems to make sense later on. This is definitely a track I'll need to listen to again a few times. 9.8 Mmm a nice downvibe track... with very deep melodies. Was not expecting this... but it fits in raather nicely. Great breakbeats. Very solid track... uplifting yet slightly dark and non cheesy. Shorter track, which isn't necassarily bad concidering we're talking 8 minutes here. Will fit in sets absolutely great. 9.7 A fairly nice finishing track... with more breakbeats a nice feeley bass. and holy crap, the albums over allready. Razor sharp precision with the breaks though... really nice placed melodies too, and great synth design here. 9.6 Overall: 9.7... my only complaint is that there aren't more shorter more set friendly tracks, but then again longer tracks are probably better for home listening Better then excellent... theres plenty of just that something extra moments that cannot be described otherwise and absolutely no flaws... except for maybe a slightly stronger (perhaps more mids?) kick would be good on some of the tracks. Very glad I downloaded this, will be listened to for a long time. I used to think I could only enjoy albums on the second listen for a while... but that isn't true, very excellent albums like the one being reviewed certainly prove otherwise. I'll update and give more detailed reviews when I listen to album again a few more times. and ugh, first proper review/op review so go easy
