How to get the "tight" sound?
buzzman replied to Lemmiwinks's topic in Music Making and Production/Industry
I just love the way he says "IZM Bassizm" Or anything ells for that matter.... I only watch ten minutes at a time, a tiny second beyond that and i loose concentration on what the guy is saying -
Please cut the arrogance... You are the best because you have touched and own a "real" monophonic synth And everyone who uses softsynths are stupid?? Who cares really, Frosty was asking a question, not asking for a lesson in monophonic synths... And yes, you are wasting your time since no one here isn't familiar with the slide/glide/portamento or whatever it is called, Frosty (and me) just wasn't shure wether this was the "right" way to make that given effect

just find a movie or youtube video and rip the audio

I fell asleep, it seemed a little boring to me Maybe I should try again when I'm a little less high and tired, but if you have to force an answer out of me, I would say boring... With swedish language

Unless you are very very talented and keep an exact vision of how your track is going to sound like(eventhough you need to produce/write it first without forgetting what you wanted it to sound like) you need to know all the basics so you don't have to mess around with the sound to make your idea come true... If you don't know how to make your idea, you will probably forget it before you had the chance to even make half of what you intented to do... Thats why I think stuff like this is important. Not that you have to copy exactly what Jikkentekki or any other artists do on tutorials, but it will give you the tools to quickly reproduce your thoughs into the sequencer.... Jikkentekki wrote that he wanted to make a tutorial on intros and pads... This is not something totally innovative, it is something that is in ALL music, not just psytrance, and it is one of the basics to make a great track.... It doesn't tell you exactly WHAT TO write, but HOW TO write it, then you can deal with the given information like you please.... Use your imagination to make it different I see it as an art-class or a writer's class (you know, a writer who writes books).. They learn from the master, but in the end their thoughts and visions on life isn't the same, therefor the stories and poems isn't the same But the master have learned about the subject all of his life maybe, so why not take all the information you can use from that guy?? -

At first I was blown away by Rebirth... But after a lot of listens, it doesn't sound as deep and unique as I first thought.... It's outstanding production, crystal clear sound, but the musical aspect can be pretty boring at times... For a party and a good dance I still like it though And my friends who don't listen to psy, still can understand this stuff (you deside if that's a good thing ) I would recommend it if your into progressive, as there isn't many better progressive-albums from the past few years... Btw, I liked this track as much as the light http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WdwEJYFAGi0...feature=related (that tiny simple break at 7:55 after the acidlines, is probably the most memorable dancefloor-trick on the album IMO, just play it really loud and maybe you will feel it too )

It's a last name, so pronounce it the way you want to I would say it is like "Oatmeal"---> "Ott" --Meal

I still do that, that would be an awesome thing... Hard to figure out a big atmospheric beginning that fits the rest of the track... Do you make the beginning first or after? Stuff like that would be cool Other than that, it's a very good initiativ, I'm looking forward to watching them! Thank you very much Jikky -
mehhh.... To cheesy at times.... Melodrama album is cool though
-
I liked the movie to Lemmi... Not The blockbuster of the year or anything but a good ol' thrill
-
Like Derango, only better :P
buzzman replied to Lemmiwinks's topic in Music Making and Production/Industry
Whats up Lemmi, the groover is right, the bassdepartment do sound a little muddy.... Sort it out with cutting lengths and EQ'ing If it's a synthesized kick, maybe tweak around with it a little Also the stereo-image is something I paid instant notice at, it sounds like everything is comming from the middle of my monitor-setup, if you pan your synths and drums and then put some stereoimaging on the master (izotope ozone4 is really eazy to use IMO, just pick a preset you like an tweak around till it sounds like you want ) So when you close your eyes, you can hear the bass in the middle, the drums from each side (spread sound) and the highpitch synths/effects comming from above in stereo Never paid notice to this until i resently got my ADAM monitors, but it is ONE of the things sepperating good pro music with ours -

There's very very veeeery few of the "newschool" goa-tracks that i like... But this on the other hand is awesome! I'm listening to mp3's right now, I'm gonna pick up this album for shure! The use of melodies and atmospheres is awesome and quite unique if you ask me (I'm not that much into goa so correct me if im wrong) Edit: Earthrise :posford: :clapping: That's a track that speaks my language
