I'm fortunate to work in a recordstore, so the distrubutor sends lots of posters and flyers promoting new albums.... I know Cosmophilia makes a lot... Also BNE, 3DVision, Avatar and Creamcrop makes loads... So perhaps your local store has some you can have or buy.... If you're talking about wallhangings/backdrops then search the net... Spacetribe's site, NOS and so forth... Check our links section! ------- DeathPosture

Ehh.... I'm not jew... Infact I don't believe in anything but myself... Infact you might call me an atheist... Though I acknowledge that fact, that religion has a major part in some peoples lifes... And if that's what they need to have a happy life, then I have no problem with that... DeathPosture

Without doubt one of this years best compilations... Good stuff! 8/10!

Yeah, I've wondered about that too.... It's the same voice used as in In The Hands Of The Shaman on the Space Tribe album Sonic Mandala ... Any info would be appreciated! DeathPosture

IMO this has one problem: For a comp. named PULSE is just needs more... ehhrm... Pulse!... For me this previously so great series is dead... The same goes for Tantrance, Goahead & unfortunately also Distance To Goa... It's sad, but they just don't do it for me anymore... Hopefully someday they'll rise again! 3/10 for this one!

V/A - Chakra Violet Artist: Various Title: Chakra Violet Label: Nova Tekk Date: 2001 Track listing: 01. 06'18" Sonic Body : Towards The Groove 02. 08'53" GMO : Kirk Fart 03. 07'52" Sonnenvakuum : Space Raiders 04. 08'23" Psycho Abstract : Los Colombaires Unicejas 05. 08'37" Dragon Master : Woodhead 06. 08'36" Electron Wave : Vortex 07. 09'36" Chi-ad : Transparent Sea 08. 08'18" Psychonaut : Voodoochild 09. 08'48" Zerotonine : Medusa's Breath Review: Fifth colour in the Chakra-series from German label Nova Tekk.Let's go straight to a short description of each track. #1 is well-named "Towards The Groove" 'cause this is a laid-back groovy track. Doesn't really grab me this one. #2 is better, and actually has sounds that sounds like "Kirk Farts".. Ehh. Yes, this is a fast, full-on Israeli track. I have no idea whether GMO is an Israeli act. Actually I think he's German, but his sound isn't! #3 starts with this "Ding Dang" sample, and I'm not sure but I think it's from the classic E-Rection track "Smoke My Dinga-long"!?. Pretty decent track. #4 increases the bpm-count with a very fast track from Psycho Abstract. Average track. #5 is the most interesting track so far. It has this darkish atmosphere to it.Though it still has melodies.Oh yeah, and some girl is looking for an answer here! *s* Best track so far. #6 starts pretty ok, but then this annoying German tekkno-bass starts. I'm usually fond of bass-lines, but this one just doesn't do it for me.It totally destroys the track. #7 Ahh.. Good old Chi-a.d. . You can't go wrong with Mr. Young. This is actually a good example of how a bass-line works. Classic Chi-a.d. sound. Very melodic and heavy usage of synths. Pretty good, but also pretty predictable. Not the best Chi-a.d. track, but it sound better when it's on a comp filled with boring tracks! . Moving on to #8. At first you think this is a Bob Marley track, but the psychedelia soon kicks in, and this actually is a pretty good track. The whole Bob Marley-feel is very original! Cool! Oh Btw it says on the cover that the length of this track is 08'18" but actually it's only 07'45". Dunno what the hell's up? Finally we have #9 which is a pretty dark track. More towards the minimal sound than the rest of this comp. Perhaps this is a taste of what the next Chakra Black [?] will sound like? I don't know, but this is a decent track. To sum up, best tracks are 5 & 8 which I like. The rest is average, so be sure to listen to this before you buy it. It's not the same high quality as the older Chakra's.And there are SO MANY other great compilations out this year that you should get instead of this boring piece of plastic. I cannot stretch myself to giving this more than 5.5/10!

V/A - Wabi Artist: Various Title: Wabi Label: Flying Rhino Date: 2001 Track listing: 01. 01'35" Healer : Ultrarapid 02. 07'28" Doof : Grantchester Meadows Remembered 03. 04'26" Gus Till : Bermuda 04. 05'01" Ivor Guest : Escapology 05. 08'30" Igneous Sauria : Momentary Distraction 06. 09'42" 4D : Slivva 07. 05'58" Western Rebel Allicance : Medetity 08. 05'35" Healer : Halo 09. 14'04" Solar Quest : Trisine Review: This is ambient!! Actually this is among the most relaxed chilled-out tracks that I have ever heard! Very harmonic, peaceful and extremely chilled tracks here. "Wabi" is a Japanese word and supposedly it translates into "Purity". And pure is exactly what these tunes are, and when you listen to this you feel how your mind and thoughts are purified.. So close your eyes, light some incense and let this be the soundtrack to a magnificent dream. Very highly recommended! 8.5/10

Hmmm.... Great comp... 8/10

I don't know the Saiko-Pod track, but "Snowblind" is quite simply an amazing track... One of the best featured on Order Odonata 6! 8/10 for that one!

Yeah, it's a sample from one of the very first episodes of South Park! --- DP

V/A - Otherwise Artist: Various Title: Otherwise Label: Baluns Date: 2001 Track listing: 01. 09'16" Digby And Oliver : Human 02. 08'08" Gegga : Dead Crows Don't Fly 03. 06'03" Defolder : Bioformat 04. 06'51" Trimatic : Pooloop 05. 06'59" Holy Ghost : Zombie Assassin 06. 06'54" Kopfuss Resonator : Bronco 07. 05'40" Samuel L Session : Gotcha 08. 06'49" New Disco Science Alliance: Twisted Psychedelic Freedomfighters 09. 06'36" Zenglodon : On The Porch 10. 08'02" Pope Of Gegga : Filterpenna 11. 07'23" KAB : Trasktrance Review: Wooooooow! Killer compilation! Awesome! This rocks!. Mark my words, this is going to be HUGE! Baluns Records is a division of the MPDQX/Digital Structures label group, and that's always a sign of quality. I have listened to this NON STOP since I got this. This has got to be some of the most intelligent, insane [Ehh.. slight contradiction! *s*], mind-blowing, ass-moving, foot-stomping progressive minimal trance I have heard in a LONG time. Daaaaaaaaaaaamn!. I can't believe this. It's sounds silly, but seriously there isn't a single bad track on this compilation! Go get this MASTERPIECE right now and listen for yourself and turn the volume to max. I guarantee you - you will not be disappointed! My whole faith in progressive trance has been revitalized with this.. The new breed! From now on, every release will be compared to this! It makes me wish I was Swedish! Aaaaargh. I've got the biggest smile on my face just writing this review! Cutting edge cover-art too. Thanx so much Muellart & Henriksson for making this jewel! As the cover notes suggests: Listen, Loose it & Enjoy! ) Enough said - just go get this right noooooooooow! 9.7/10

V/A - The Next Levels Artist: Various Title: The Next Levels Label: Creamcrop Date: 2001 Track listing: 01. 07'13" Igneous Sauria : Enigma 02. 06'16" Yumade : Dopple Doper 03. 06'24" Kent : Crazy Beat 04. 09'20" Tripiatrik : Ruff Stuff 05. 07'53" Ninja : Amazura 06. 07'36" Process : Terrorist (Yumade Rmx) 07. 07'09" Biotonic : Weird 08. 07'14" Snug As A Bug : Faust Copy Review: Liquid Levels Vol. 2 here. So minimal haters - no need to read on! This is an interesting compilation. First of all. It's Creamcrop - quality guaranteed. Secondly on this CD you get the full version of the PC-game Spacehaste from Church Of Electronic Entertainment. To my knowledge this is the first time a psy-release comes with a computer-game?! Correct me if I'm wrong. Anyway, I'm pretty much a PC game-illiterate so I know virtually nothing about computer-games. I know a lot about Playstation though, and Spacehaste reminds me a lot of the classic Wipeout. The Creamcrop promotion material states: " . a futuristic hyper-arcade racing game designed to be the ultimate adrenaline rush" . Yeah, that's about right. I enjoyed this game, and the better you get at controlling your space-craft the faster the game goes. Also it's the first time I've seen road-side Creamcrop and Cosmophilia billboards. ) Pretty cool.. But the coolest thing is without doubt the soundtrack to this game. The game has 8 levels and the above 8 tracks is the soundtrack of each level. As you all have guess this is the typical Creamcrop sound. Very minimal techno-trance! This works very well, when playing the game, but actually - to my own surprise - also works very well for listening/dance floor purposes.. Well at least it works for some of the tracks! Though there's a tendency for some of the tracks to get boring very fast if you're not in a psychedelic mood. Well, I am whilst writing this! For me the best tracks are the Crazy Beats of Kent (track 3), the Ruff Stuff of Tripiatrik (4) and the VERY INTERESTING Yumade-remix of Process' Terrorist (6). The rest of the tracks doesn't really grab me. They are ok, but nothing special. Overall I'd say that this is a DIFFERENT minimal compilation.. I like the game, and these tracks make an excellent soundtrack, but some of them are not strong enough without the game.Thumbs up for the soundtrack/game-idea though. Rating 7/10!

V/A - Steroide - Progressive Trance Artist: Various Title: Steroide - Progressive Trance Label: Medium Date: 2001 Track listing: 01. 07'35" Jacques Gelee : Texas Flanger 02. 07'54" Bitmonx : It 03. 08'17" Auricular : Wasp Of Fly (Edit) 04. 08'32" Prisoners Of The Sun : Lima 05. 08'48" Fabel : Trunk 06. 07'54" Timetech : Nothing Else 07. 07'39" Peak Pilots : Twisted Fancy 08. 08'45" Lube : Frogrock Review: Another minimal compilation in the endless stream of progressive psy-tech. This time a mixed one from German label Medium. To my knowledge, all of these tracks are unreleased. Not sure about that though!? I didn't really get into this compilation before I listened to it with my headphones. I'd really like to say, that I love this compilation and listen to it all the time, but that's not true. Sure there are interesting moments, like Bitmonx, P.O.T.S and especially Timetech & Lube (Also a DJ Sascha "Bitmonx" Haske project) who all have made brilliant, interesting tracks. But I don't think this comp. will be getting a lot of playing time in my CD-player. Well maybe "Frogrock" will get an extra spin or two but that's it. Perhaps it will grow on my later, but it's collecting dust right now.Get the amazing comp "Otherwise" instead of this mostly boring release! 5/10

Duh!... It's called RETRO - 10 years of ISRAELI trance... perhaps that's why you don't see any Hallucinogen track... Or X-Dream for that matter!...

Retro - 10 Years Of Israeli Trance Artist: Retro Title: 10 Years Of Israeli Trance Label: Distance Date: 2001 Track listing: CD 1 01. 08'40" Astral Projection : Let There Be Light 02. 06'24" MFG : Shape The Future 03. 06'36" Xerox And Freeman : Karina (Rmx) 04. 05'00" Phreaky : The Second Moon 05. 06'12" Astral Projection And MFG : The Sleeper Must Awake 06. 07'04" Chakra And Edi Mis : X-Files 07. 07'58" Power Source : Goaway 08. 05'16" Yahel And I-Zen : Waves Of Sound 09. 06'35" Witchcraft : Whale 10. 07'51" Indoor : Shiva 11. 07'49" SFX : Butterfly Trip CD 2 01. 07'23" Cat On Mushroom : The Fly (Live Mix) 02. 07'41" Alien Project And Astrix : Electro 03. 07'36" Infected Mushroom : Psycho 04. 06'24" Tandu : Alien Pump 05. 07'43" BLT And DJ Nadi : Space Boogie 06. 06'27" Pigs In Space : Visitors (Part 1) 07. 08'58" Children Of The Doc : Bionic Bong 08. 04'53" Passenger : Reborn (MFG Rmx) 09. 06'21" Psysex : LSDance 10. 08'33" Sandman : Natural Born Killer 11. 07'46" California Sunshine : Summer 89 Review: Right. I guess we all know this compilation by now!?. A retrospective look at some of the best goa-tracks that have come out of Israel for the last 7 years! Seven? That's right - the oldest tracks here are from 1994. The "10 years of Israeli trance" tag-line refers to the time when Guy Sebbag and his crew came back to Israel from Goa. We don't actually get to hear stuff from back then, though it could have been interesting. Back to the music. CD1 (mixed by Astral Projection) is all of our fav'e morning tunes, and WOOOW what a bunch of delicious cuts. From the nostalgic anthem X-Files to the timeless classic Whale. and The Sleeper Must Awake. And Goaway .And. And.. They are all here. All the beautiful tracks that we have danced to at sunrises thousands of times over the years. Quite simply amazing. A fantastic emotional trip [That's right! *s*] down memory lane. And the reminiscing doesn't stop when CD2 hits your brain. This is a night/party CD mixed by DJ Eyal Yankovich (HOM-Mega Vs. Infected I.Zen). Again we are presented with the real classics of powerful night tracks. Everyone HAS to know all these tracks. Sheer nocturnal bliss. Alien Pump. L.S.Dance. Psycho. Visitors.. For f*cks sake - take a look at the tracklisting! Does it get any better than this? . Nah! Critics would say - what the hell do we need all these old tracks for again? This smells like commercial cash crab! Well, agreed - I guess we all have all of these tracks - I know I do, but still were else can you find ALL the classics from 1994 to 2001 on a single compilation? The answer is that you can't. Another big fat plus in my cool-book is the very informative booklet with rare information and photos of every artist on this compilation. Also - this would be a great place to start a trance collection for someone just getting into trance. Start with the best, and never look back! *s* . Ok, it isn't all good. I would have preferred unmixed CDz, but under the circumstances I can live with mixed. I'm not impressed with the mixing though. Also this comp. is a nice occasion to dust of the old albums again and fly away into trance. To conclude, I really like this compilation. Old school lives, and I'll never get tired of these sounds that I have loved for so long. So if you're only going to get one album this year - well get Tales Of The Inexpressible or Otherwise! But if you're going to get two - get this one at all cost!. With this, I'm sure melodic goa trance will live on even through the hardest of minimal times! *s* Big fat 8.8/10! Bom shankar!

I've had this since it came out, and man - am I glad I got it for free... very boring cheese clubby stuff... I'd have to be in a very weird mood to enjoy this... Perhaps some day I will... But seriously, there is SO much better stuff out there!... 3/10!

I've never heard of a such.... Please enlighten us Anders! DP

Ehh.... On Classical Mushroom perhaps?! DP

Yeah, I was going to review this, but Clark beat me to it! ;o) ... Anyway you really get your money worth with this one - as it is available at midprice... Pretty much all tracks are true classics! 7.5/10! Bom shankar!

V/A - Distance To Goa 10 Artist: Various Title: Distance To Goa 10 Label: Distance Date: 2001 Track listing: CD 1 01. 08'50" Ticon : Super Model Girlfriend 02. 07'39" Son Kite : Bitter Sweet 03. 05'55" Manmademan : Xpi 04. 07'59" Wizzy Noise : Plastic Mold 05. 07'00" Deedrah : Reload (GMS Rmx) 06. 07'56" Psychaos : Free Radical 07. 06'26" Cydonia : Bass Monster 08. 08'52" Slinky Wizard : Hit And Run (Original Mix) 09. 08'25" Updata : Creeper (Magnat Good Morning Mix) CD 2 01. 04'11" Sinister Association : How Does It Taste? 02. 07'23" Tromesa : Muchomory 03. 06'44" Sonic Fusion : Tokyo 04. 08'19" The Source Experience : Helium 05. 06'09" Slinky Wizard : Hit And Run (Slick Dick Rmx) 06. 05'50" Vibrasphere : Urban Grace 07. 04'53" Headspace : Psychosis 08. 07'05" KAB And Son Kite : Yetto Come 09. 08'35" Ticon : Lo Mi Hi 10. 07'59" Audibelle : Figure Review: Another Distance-compilation has hit the market, and therefore it's time for a review. This series have offered some of the finest compilations in my collection, so my hopes for this one was really high. If my hopes were met, I'll reveal after I take you thru the tracks. CD1 Track 1 (1.1) is the well-know Ticon track. It's somewhat dubby & clubby, yet still minimal. Bit repetitive, but that's one of the flaws of minimalistic psytrance. 1.2 is another well-know minimal track from Son Kite. It has a similar structure to Super Model Girlfriend, and I think that Hi-Fi Stomp would fit better. Anyway, it's not a bad track. Nice and funky. 1.3 is the only unreleased track on this comp. but it's nothing special. Moving on to 1.4 which is Wizzy Noise. Another minimal tune, and one of my personal fav'es from Cybermancy. Really nice, and you should all know this one by now. 1.5 => This is the first full-on melodic track on this comp. It's very good, and I like it a lot, though the original is slightly better. 1.6 Is an up-tempo track from Joti Sidhu. Quite good, and has melodies in it, which is different from much of the rest of this CD. 1.7 is from Cydonia. This one I hadn't hear before, and it has a really cheese sample to begin with. As the title suggests this track is very bass-ridden without being to minimal. Also it has this annoying melody, that'll get to you no matter what you do to try and avoid it. . Actually, CD1 ends here for me. The last two tracks sucks. 1.8. What is this shit?.. Boring, slow crap. 1.9 is even worse. Updata is a Quirk-project, and I never thought they could make such pointless crap. What a stinker! CD2 is compiled and mixed by Robert Leiner of The Source Experience, and as I don't really like mixed CDz I'll just take you thru this in a few words. 2.1 Very weird. sounds like a Japanese Texas Faggott. Avoid! 2.2 Quite ok track actually. And apparently the title means mushroom in Polish. *s* 2.3. Also an OK, different track. I actually like the repetitive voice samples in here. 2.4. Hmm. Of course the guy who compiled this have to have his own track on here. Nothing special about this track. 2.5. a bad remix of a bad original (see 1.8). Slick Dick is actually Dick Trevor of Green Nuns, and he has only managed to make this "slightly" better that the original. 2.6 . Much better now, as this compilation again goes minimal. I'm no minimal-buff - far from it, but if I have to choose between minimal and stuff like Hit & Run, I'll go with minimal anytime!. 2.7 I don't really like this. Too strange and too boring. 2.8 is better, and this is an ok track. 2.9. I think you all know. Very good track. I like the tribal feel this track has. 2.10 is one of the best on CD2 without being really fantastic. That sums up CD2 actually. And to sum up this comp as a whole: Good things: Really nice coverart, Ticon, The GMS remix, Free Radical, fairly good mixing by Leiner (Though I don't really dig mixed CDz). Bad things: The rest. Hehe! For instance - style confusion! There is simply just too much crap on this compilation for me to be able to recommend it to you guys. Conclusion: Destination Goa - one of the well-renowned compilation is not declared dead yet, but if they do not SERIOUSLY get their act together they will definitely die as many others have. (Tantrance, Goahead, Pulse.)It might grow on me, but I seriously doubt it... Rating 4.5/10 Bom shankar!
