I have Philips SBC HP910 ... http://philips.com.pk/hp910.htm Really comfortable and has amazing sound... Highly recommended as an alternative to Sennheiser... I got my Philips for free as part of a test-program to see wheter they should be sold in the store where I work... We also sell Sennheiser and I can also recommend them.... From HD400 and up! http://www.sennheiser.com/headphones/dynam...ic/dh_1c001.htm All of the above is of course for listening purposes... If you need them for DJing these are not recommended... Boms! Infected Mushroom - BP Empire Artist: Infected Mushroom Title: BP Empire Label: BNE Date: 2001 Track listing: 01. 07'37" BP Empire (Deep Mix) 02. 07'40" BP Empire (Original Mix) 03. 10'36" Roll Us A Giant Review: Well, I think we all know The Mushies new album BP Empire by now, and this was the EP that was released prior to that. #1 is pretty uninteresting for me. Actually it's one of the most boring IM tracks I have ever heard. I don't understand what the hell is deep about it?! Boring Mix would be more accurate! 2/10 for that. #2 we all know from the album. Pretty good, and pretty hard track. 6/10 for the original mix. #3 is the real gem of this EP. Roll Us A Giant is quite simply an AMAZING track, and it's a mystery why it's not on the album. It's a pretty long track and I believe that in different passages in the track, you can hear the sound-bits from both "The Gathering" and "Classical Mushroom". Well, not actual samples, just the same "mood" as on those albums! That's pretty cool. Oh yeah, and of course it has the famous quote: "Got any magic mushrooms? No, but I've got some dwarf mushies. It's gonna really blow your head off. Look at this. The last time I took it, I saw fairies for 3 days! Haha. Nicey nice - roll us a giant!". What a cool quote!. And NICEY NICE is exactly what I think of this track! Very good, and it gets a 9/10! Get this EP for Roll Us A Giant. It's worth it! Bom shankar!

V/A - Guitars On Mushroom 2 Artist: Various Title: Guitars On Mushroom 2 Label: Psysolation Date: 2001 Track listing: CD 1 01. 06'34" Sonic Fusion And Impact : Mortal Combat 02. 07'25" CON Sequenser And Milk : Tango 03. 09'29" Liquid Metal Feat Chakra : Search For God 04. 07'16" Sediment 4 : Moff Seerdom 05. 07'23" Kao Tae : Masterbits Rhapsody 06. 08'06" Psyside : Fuzz Gravity 07. 06'56" Tim Schuldt : Pale 08. 08'24" Apocalyptic : First It Was A Dream 09. 09'02" Distortion Orchestra : Monolith CD 2 01. 07'11" Deep Dive Corporation : Jazztalk 02. 05'54" Akanoid : Alan's Future 03. 07'25" DJ Sangeet : Bosho's Pond 04. 08'41" Puls : Strinx 05. 07'23" Klangstrahler Project : Nagaland 06. 09'30" Necton : The Hitman 07. 06'56" Electric Universe : Moonchild 08. 06'05" Anjin : Reality Ends 09. 07'30" Akasha Project : Hermetic Horse Review: Average compilation from German label Psysolation. It comes as no surprise that there are a abundance of German acts on this comp. and neither does it come as a surprise that all of these tracks have guitars in them. (Duh!?) The biggest flaw this CD has, is that pretty much all the tracks are already released. Short description of each track. #1.1 (CD 1, track 1) kicks of with a heavy guitar that pretty much continues throughout the track which has the sample "Ehm, we seem to be having a problem here" repeated several times. Average track. #1.2 is a well-know track from the album "When Gods Make Love" and has a phat conga-based bass-line. Good track. #1.3 is previously released on the "Resurrection-comp from 99, but it's a cool track. Has a cool start, with a yawning animal or something. The track itself is very psychedelic. "What is god? What is true?". Very good track. #1.4 is more boring. Especially in the middle. Uses the exact same guitar-riff as track 1! Nothing special about this one. #1.5 has the hardest, meanest guitar-riff so far. The guitar-bits sounds a little like Deep Purple. The track has a very hectic feel to it, and changes pace a lot. Very, very good track. #1.6 starts with a very simple kick-drum, but evolves into a very fast, cool track with distorted guitar-riffs. #1.7 is a boring, track from the Aurinko compil "Catcher". #1.8 is very psychedelic, but also very boring 2-year old track from the Atomic-compil "Electrosect" and last on CD1 we have another boring track. #1.9 starts chilled out, but slowly gets harder... Nothing special. CD2 (which is slower than CD1) starts out with famous German chill-out group Deep Dive Corp, who delivers a stunning, melodic piece of psychedelic ambient #2.1. Very good track. #2.2 is a slower track, with a really annoying guitar. Crappy! #2.3 has potential with nice use of percussions, but is still an average track. #2.4 Is a harder, more tribal inspired track. Quite ok. Tracks #2.5 + #2.6 are both unbelievably boring and very predictable. Fillers. #2.7 is the well-known Boris Blenn track from Divine Design. My fav'e track from that album. Very good. #2.8 also has potential, but is totally pervaded with a really cheesy, hip-hop sample. Too bad. #2.9 is too break-beat'y for my taste. So, to sum it up, there are 4 very good tracks on this comp: Tracks 3 & 5 of CD1 + tracks 1 & 7 on CD2. If you have those tracks, there is no need to get this comp as there are TOO MANY FILLERS here! Also, for a guitar comp, where are the SUN Project/X-Dream/Delta tracks? Cool artwork though. If you love guitars in your psy-trance, and if you like Vol. 1, get this. If not - don't! Rating 5.5/10 Bom shankar!

V/A - Order Odonata 6 Artist: Various Title: Order Odonata 6 Label: Dragonfly Date: 2001 Track listing: 01. 07'48" Saiko-Pod : Silent Running 02. 07'59" Vibrasphere : Nino Loco 03. 07'28" Aphid Moon : Elevate 04. 07'42" Pylon : Evolve 05. 08'58" Noma : Two-D 06. 07'50" Zodiac Youth : Space (Paranoid Sunglasses Mix) 07. 08'24" Sandman : Jungle Rock 08. 06'52" Shakta : No Conspiracy 09. 07'08" Prometheus : Snowblind Review: Ok, it's time to write something intelligent and informative about this new release from Dragonfly. Hmm. Well, I've grown really fond of Order Odonata Vol. 5 so when this came out a couple of weeks ago I was pretty excited. But as it is very often the case, I was very disappointed after the first couple of listens.. (What's is this - the mother-cliché of all reviews? :-D) . But now it's grown on me! (Stop it!;-O). All the tracks here are unreleased, and the artist are pretty much from all over the world.. Well, Scandinavia, The UK, Israel and Kiwi Country! *s*. If I have to compare the music-style on this CD to anything else, I think it would be a hybrid between "Something For The Weekend" & "Movers & Groovers 2" with a bit a psy-techno thrown in!. The new "beach-house-sexy-trance-kinda-going-commercial-techfunk" that's becoming the new "British Labels Sound". Anyone catch my drift here? I hope so! . I'll take you through the tracks now: #1 is one of my all time fav'es Koxbox under one of their aliases Saiko-Pod. No matter what these geniuses - and my fellow countrymen - do, it's done with such perfection and the results are always flawless! Brilliant, laid back track. A very nice start for this comp! #2 is a bit harder track from the well-know Swedes. Has a weird, but cool ending. Decent track! #3 by Aphid Moon is a dark, monotone track. I guess it sounds ok, it just gets a little boring if you're not in a psy-tech mood! #4 has a very nice, break-beat'y/minimal intro and I guess that sums up the track. Nothing special here. #5 is from terror-minimalist Noma, so of course this track is riddled with heavy, dark pounding basses. Very monotone, and like #3 you have to been in a psy-tech mood to enjoy this track. It's very nice though! #6 is also a very good track, though in a very different style. There's no mistaking who remixed this track, 'cause the track is sprayed with samples saying "Paranoid Sunglasses". All in all, a nice track!. Up next is #7 which again is a darkish, though melodic track from IsrAlien Sandman. Pretty amazing stuff! On #8 we're back in the UK, with a fantastic Seb Taylor creation. Has a pretty cool intro: "This might be hard for you to understand, but there is no conspiracy. Nobody is in charge. It's a headless blunder operating under the illusion of a masterplan. Can you grasp that? Big brother is not watching you!". Yeah, and the track is just as cool, at the intro! Finally, there's #9 from the master himself. I am of course talking of Benji Vaughan, and this track has left me snow-blind in the middle of the summer! :-D .In the beginning it has this REALLY annoying sound. I think it can best be described as a monster-psychedelic hornet or something being f*** by John Candy! That sound is in this track! *g*. But, you get used to the sound, and it gets less annoying, and actually this is a fairly good track.. Sprinkled around are Apollo 13/Age Of Aquarius samples, and together with nice layering, it makes a very decent track!. Stand-outs are 1, 6, 8 & 9! Oh, and extra points in my cool-book, for the cool coverart. Nice variety of styles too!! Rating 8.5/10! Bom shankar and have a VERY LUSH summer!

Disapointed!! I was extremely excited when I got this record about a month ago, and was expecting a Trippy Future Garden part 2... But this is a step back, and Planet BEN's (Whatever happened to the '.'s between the letters?) new style is not nearly as stunning as Trippy Future Garden which was a masterpiece... IMHO there are much better minimal artists outhere... There ARE good tracks on this album though... Just nothing out of the ordinary!

V/A - Something For The Week-End Artist: Various Title: Something For The Week-End Label: Flying Rhino Date: 2001 Track listing: CD 1 01. 08'11" Jaïa : Hypnostatique 02. 07'26" Hopefiend : Out Of Reach 03. 08'12" Manmademan : Heavens High 04. 08'24" Kinetico : Sincerity 05. 09'49" Cass And Slide : Diablo (Evolution Rmx) 06. 07'47" Saiko-Pod : Groove Moderator 07. 09'43" Seeka : Be There 08. 08'37" Corellian : Fanthoms (Freelance Icebreaker) 09. 08'25" Baramundi : Pot Mink CD 2 (mixed CD) 01. Jaïa : Hypnostatique 02. Kinetico : Sincerity 03. Cass And Slide : Diablo (Evolution Rmx) 04. Hopefiend : Out Of Reach 05. Corellian : Fathoms (Freelance Icebreakers Rmx) 06. Saiko-Pod : Groove Moderator 07. Manmademan : Heavens High 08. Baramundi : Pot Mink Review: This is sexy! The sound of the summer! Music of the future! Flying Rhino delivers a stunning compilation filled with some of best 'uplifting, sexy, funky, pumping melodic euphoric music'. The Cass & Slide + Correllian tracks are known from FR's "Re-Evolution 2" compilation from '99 but their energy remain just as fresh as back then, and combined with the rest of the music on this compilation it just 'leaves you breathless and sweating and panting for more' - as LV of Wax Mag puts it. And I totally agree with him. This is a unique collection of cool music and as so there are no bad tracks here. From the conga-based melodic masterpiece of Kinetico to the fantastic, funky Jaïa track. Best track is Groove Operator by Saiko-Pod, but as I said, all tracks are fantastic. I don't really like mixed CD's, so I'll leave it to someone else to review CD2. Anyway, if you're into sexy, progressive 'beach house' trance, you need to get this. Isra-addicts and minimalists look elsewhere. Gets a 8,5/10 - and look very much forward to the weekend! ;o)

Here we've got the amazing Sphongle track in 3 different versions. Track 1 is the best IMO, and is know from many compilations but the other are pretty amazing too. #2 - the trance rmx is more melodic than the original but is not really that different. #3 - The Russian Bootleg version starts of with the sample only played backwards. I think!?. Has some chants and percussions too. This remix is actually quite different from the original, but is still very nice and is MUCH MORE ambient'y. At the end I don't know what the hell happens but the track turns into a strange carnival-like track with whistles and congas. Btw, if you're wondering what the significance of the word Sphongle is, there's a definition printed on the CD. It goes as follows: "Digital intercourse is the new yoga of the modern world. Where high technology and magic are inseparable, cultivating life affirming endorfuns for global musical relationships.. a new understanding of sacred geometry and numerical magic let us now probe deeper into the pool of consciousness. it's time to download your ego while hardwired to infinity. Sphongle is a state of being and experiencing. Let's get really Shpongled!" .. Ehh. My words exactly. *ss* .. Anyway. This is a brilliant EP and well worth the money. Rating: 8.8/10 Bom shankar! sophicos(Triac)

V/A - Movers And Groovers 2 Artist: Various Title: Movers And Groovers 2 Label: TIP World Date: 2001 Track listing: 01. 06'06" Zorba Feat Chicago : Chicago Hype 02. 08'40" Logic Bomb : Dumbfound 03. 06'35" Cyberbabas : Indigo Blue 04. 06'45" Spacefly : Individual 05. 06'22" Manmademan : Arabian Daze 06. 10'37" Ticon : Input, Output, Kaput 07. 06'24" Prometheus : There Is A Time 08. 05'27" Tycho : Hallelujah 09. 06'13" Bus : Straylight Dub 10. 06'36" Zorba Feat Chicago : Voyage Of Ulysses Review: Here we have the follow-up for the very popular Movers & Groovers from last year. And let me start by saying that this is IMHO a very worthy follow-up. First up is Zorba with Chicago in a tracks that's kicks of slowly, but slowly develops into something a bit harder, but still with a "lazy feel" to it. Has a very nice squishy sound throughout the track that you either like or hate. I personally like it. Brilliant track. #2 is the mad Swedes from Logic Bomb who delivers one of their lighter and very melodic tracks here. Has lots of bird-like sounds in it. ;o). #3 by Cyberbabas are veterans Benji Vaughan and Raja Ram who delivers a simply BEAUTIFUL track. This is very melodic and very psychedelic at the same time. Killer. Up next is #4 Spacefly who are also veterans in psychedelic music [Olli Wisdom & Albert Moses]. This is a darker track with a heavier bass-line. Has a funny Monty Phyton/Life Of Brian quote in the middle: "You are all individuals.YES, WE'RE ALL INDIVIDUALS! .You are all different. YES, WE'RE ALL DIFFERENT!" :-). Classic quote. I can't believe no-one ever used that before.Very nice, dark pounding track here. #6 by ManMadeMan has a nice Arabian feel to it as implied in the title. An quite OK track, but the whole Arabian feel tends to get a bit boring towards the end of the track. Average track. Next up #6 is the well-know Ticon track. This is GOOD. Starts of minimal, but Frederik & Filip eventually throw in more and more amazing effects which forms a fantastic track. The only flaw this track has, is that's it's too long. They could have made it about 7 minutes. Anyway, this track ROCKS. We continue to #7 which again is a Benji Vaughan project. He offers a true gem here. This is definitely a slower track than Ticon, but still very good though perhaps a little boring towards the end. Up next is Tycho #8 with track that almost sound clubby at first. But don't worry, it's definitely not clubby, rather dubby without really being dubby. Do I make sense here? What I'm trying to say here is, that this track has a certain relaxed feel to it. Not my fav'e on this comp. but still quite OK. #9 Now things are REALLY slowing down with this Gus Till track which start out with dreamy sounds and female vocals (!!). But then all of a sudden there is a bass-line slowly developing from somewhere. A very relaxed one that continues for the rest of this VERY MELLOW track along side the female voice Cozzie having multiple orgasms.. :-) Very nice.*gg* . Finally there's Zorba & Chicago [Again!] #10 on the last track. If you thought that you were going to have a nice ambient track as the last one, then think again! This is a full-on stomper and delivers a VERY GOOD ending to this amazing compilation. Nice. All in all I can totally recommend this compilation and it is a VERY WORTHY follow-up. At times it reminds me of Order Odonata 5, so if you liked that you'll love this. That's it! Rating 8.9/10 Bom shankar!

Brilliant, brilliant.... It's said that Raja Ram was inspired to make this album with all the contributors when he was walking in the mountains and rainforests of Brazil... Each artist got a certain tone and 6 minutes playing time, and they've done it brilliantly... Definately the best chill-out album of 2001... 9/10 Bom shankar!
-
Hmmm.... I have the exact same feelings about this cd as I do about Headcleaner. Sometimes it RULES and sometimes is too boring... Some ppl ask who Echolab are.... They are: Henrik Jonsson and Tomasz Galicki!! Rating 6.8/10! Bom shankar!
-
P.E.R.F.E.C.T.I.O.N. This will ALWAYS be one of my fav'e albums... So well produced, and soooooo trippy.... Amazing! 9/10! Bom shankar!
-
I've waited SOOOOOO long for this album, and I was VERY happy when I finally got it about a month ago... PeÁ and the crew are the MASTERS of minimalism along with Wizzy Noise and XVK... This is the soundtrack for 2001... Very, very nice.... 7.9/10! Bom shankar!
-
Amazing disc... I NEVER get tired of this and IMO this will never be dated. This is up there along with "Twisted" and "Feeling Weird"... The only X-Dream release that tops this is Radio with is a PERFECT album, but this is close... Eleven is my personal highlight!... This is a CLASSIC piece of goa-history, and EVERYONE should have this... When I've had enough of minimalism I put this on and let my mind flow... Brilliant! 8.9/10! Bom shankar!
-
Just got this album as a warm-up for XVK's live performance in Løkken, Denmark on May 5th 2001, and the first listen left me VERY disapointed, but as it is often the case with minimalistic it really grows on you... Especially when played really loud or in big ass head-phones.... This is a great album, but it DOES get TOO REPETITIVE and works best in smaller doses... Like the tracks KPO, Kante and Spaziergang ... Really nice when you're in a minimalistic mood... 7.8/10 Bom shankar!
-
Complete, utter CRAP!... This is the worst kind of pathetic shit ever labeled goa... AVOID AT ALL COSTS!! Also - do not bye anything labeled "The Hypnotic World Of Goa" ... A series of crap compilation by a Dutch record company named Cool or something like that... WASTE OF TIME, MONEY and INTELLIGENCE. 0/10 Bom shankar!
-
I hafta agree.... This is simple, AP-like music and there is too little variation in the tracks... Though there are a few good tracks, this comp. is simply TOO cheesy... 4/10 Bom shankar!
-
Like Ubik, I've also been hypnotized everytime I've listened to this album, and that's why it's taken me so long to review this SMASHING album.... This is SO BRILLIANT and is definately one of my all-time fav'e records... Brilliant... A True classic! Get it!! Best tracks 1, 4 ,5 & 7 ... Bom shankar!
-
Man!... I can't believe I forgot to review this album... Anyway, this album got ALOT of playing-time in my stereo about a year ago, and for me, this has become a REAL classic album and when it came out had a fantastic, unique sound... All tracks are good, but my personal highlights are Pop, Travelling At The Speed Of Thought, Thing, Supercell and of course the brilliant As A Child I Could Walk On The Ceiling ... Amazing tracks!! 8.9/10 Bom shankar!
-
Despite the bad reviews here, I couldn't resist buying this when I found it on sale for as little as £2,5 ... And it really isn't that bad... Sure it would be wrong to lable this "psychedelic", but still I like it... 7/10! Bom shankar!
-
Yeah... What the hell is up with CD2?... MWNN sure isn't what he used to be... Anyway, CD1 IS as good as CD2 is bad, so screw the second cd and listen to the first... Filled with kickass tracks!... CD1: 7,3/10 CD2: Crap! Bom shankar!
-
Very good album... My fav'e tracks are 1 + 8... Gets a solid 8/10 on my chart! Bom shankar!
-
This a amazing.... This old album is SO good and SO psychedelic.... A true classic and EVERYONE should have this in their collection... GET IT!! 9/10 Bom shankar!
-
I knew this would happen... This is now officially upgraded to 8.1/10 ... Bom shankar!

V/A - Goa Classix 2 Artist: Various Title: Goa Classix 2 Label: Nova Tekk Date: 2000 Track listing: 01. 10'25" Astral Projection : Searching For UFO's 02. 08'36" Pleiadians : Alcyone 03. 10'14" Chi-ad : The Flame Of Eternal Life 04. 08'42" Miranda : Space Baby 05. 07'48" Shakta : Spiritual Beings In Physical Bodies 06. 07'55" Green Nuns Of The Revolution : Ring Of Fire 07. 10'33" Children Of Paradise : New Cop 08. 08'28" Planet BEN And Spiralkinda : Triple Helix 09. 06'16" MOS : Der Nachste Tag Review: Second edition of the midpriced Goa Classix series from Nova Tekk. I'm not sure, that if I'd had to compile a series of classic tracks I'd chosen all these tracks. But there are REALLY good tracks on this CD. And when considering the price (Available across Europe for about £5-7) this is a VERY GOOD cd. Personal highlights for me are Shakta, Pleiadians, and Chi-A.D. If this cd was full-prices I would have been more sceptic, but I really think you get your moneys worth with this, and this is also a good cd for ppl getting into psychedelic music, and wants to get to know some of the old stuff before buying the full albums. Crappy artwork though! This gets a 7.5/10 in my chart! Bom shankar!
-
First of all, let me say that I was EXTREMELY dissapointed when I first heard this comp... Man, it sucked, but after about a month or so, I decided to give it another try... And for the last week I've listened to it from start to finish at least once a day, and I'm beginning to grow REALLY fond of this... I don't know what to call this kind of music... But one thing is sure, it isn't goa... It is psychedelic though, and that's all that's important to me... You have to listen to these tracks MANY times to like them, but when you've done that, you get hooked... My fav'es are Zodiac Youth : Cartographers Of The Universe, Ticon : Stinking Thinking and Zen Lemonade : Squeeze Your Karma [Almost sounds like something you could hear on the commercial radios doesn't it?... Whatever the hell it is, I dig it! :-)]... Anyway... This started out by being a 2/10 but has slowly develouped into a 7.5/10!... Bom shankar!
