  1. With all due respect Lemmi, but you obviously haven't been here enough lately to fully understand what we're on about...
  2. ccL – uNLEASH tHE bEAST Hi-res cover: front + back Artist: ccL (The Netherlands) Title: uNLEASH tHE bEAST Format: CD (digipack) Label: Doof Records (Israel) Cat. #: DOOFCD21 Distribution: Arabesque Date: March 2006 Track listing: 01. 01’55” Intro 02. 07’47” Banani 03. 07’17” Massive 04. 07’59” LF-Ants 05. 07’57” Geiger 06. 07’05” Oob Oob 07. 08’04” Tie Ripped 08. 07’38” Scratch 09. 06’43” Utb Remix 10. 07’05” ID Slayer .m3u-playlist: http://tinyurl.com/zjt53 (all tracks!) Review: aNTS iN tHE pANTS… From Israel’s most nocturnal label, Doof Records, comes the debut album from ccL. This duo consists of the flying Dutchmen Paul Elfferich (Zebra-N) and Troy Leidich (Fungus Of Light/Rev/Rev Particle). I haven’t heard much of Leidich’s stuff, but I’ve heard a bunch of Elfferich’s compilation tracks and this guy has yet to let me down with his dark, twisted take on murky psytrance. I’ve often been impressed with his distinct, twisted work – and I’m hoping he’ll take some of that edge with him onto this album… Let me take you thru the tracks… #01: Intro The intro is a gruelling, gruesome preview of what’s about to happen… It’s somewhat dubby and introvert, but it flies pretty well… And I would have liked it even more if it had been longer… #02: Banani [143 BPM] The first dancefloor track starts with the familiar sound of jungle drums – they are soon brutally shredded in half by a razor-sharp, relentless bassline from hell… It’s accompanied by some severely focussed acid-lines and some evil knievel synth experimentation… There are a couple of very dubious passages here, but generally I like how this track keeps evolving… There are more than a few surprises here – something that will work wonders on the dancefloor… Nice! #03: Massive [143 BPM] “It’s more than a piece of paper!” Massive is indeed massive! We’re still deep in ccL darkpsy, but this track is much more riddled in acid and electro than the previous one… The level of knob-adjustment and hardcore tweaking, sequencing and filtering going on here is simply impressive – and gives the track a very interesting punch… Massive reverbs! [Pun intended!] I’m totally rocking out to this one! #04: LF-Ants [144 BPM] And now it’s time for some psychedelic ants-in-the-pants… As the pace quickens, the acid level also goes up and this is one severely hard-hitting piece of dancefloor fodder… It’s not as versatile as the previous track and it does seem a little monotonous at times… What saves the track though, is the very interesting bassline that’s tied up to some outer worldly acid-kick-thingy… It’s hard to describe really… Not a bad track, but there are no jaw-dropping moments either… #05: Geiger [145 BPM] The next track is a little more full-on’ish… Don’t get me wrong, this is not full-on – it’s just a little more uplifting than its grim, pounding predecessor… The intro is bursting with condensed energy – and it’s just waiting to explode… When it finally does, it’s to a tribal-like rhythm section and a subtle bassline… Very refreshing and surprisingly trippy too! Reminds me of Penta with its oddball twists and turns… A very lovely tune! #06: Oob Oob [144 BPM] “Oooooh shit!” Just like Hyper Frequencies, Para Halu, Phi, Kluster and N3xu5 have done before them, ccL cleverly incorporates laughing samples into this crackpot track… This is druggy, acid-ridden, high-pitched party music… The ultra-high frequencies can get a little over the top at times and I think other acts master this distinct style of psytrance better than ccL… Also, the acid lines sound too retarded and they start to bug me eventually… It’s not a bad track at all – in fact there are several groovy moments, but as a whole I don’t really think it holds up… #07: Tie Ripped [145 BPM] “It probably really hit me when I got inside the crowd, and looked around and began to understand how the craft was operated and finally grasped the whole project as a whole as what we were doing. The fact that we weren’t building this thing, we’re trying to find out how it was made, we were back engineering it. When I first got to look inside the craft, all I can say is an ominous feeling, you walk in there and it feels as if you shouldn’t be there. I know it sounds kind of funny, but it is a real ominous feeling, it’s an exiting feeling. Ah, it brings a whole lot of question in the mind. I only witnessed one test flight up close, with virtually no eclipse and a small corona of discharge in the bottom of the craft, indicating the presence of high voltage!” We start with a lengthy UFO-sample – very reminiscent of the old days… But there is nothing old about the alien music that follows… The guys seem to have found the balance between dancefloor mayhem, raw nocturnal night time basslines and acid… This is the perfect hybrid of all those – resulting in a very trippy, danceable and groovy track… One of the best tunes of album! #08: Scratch [144 BPM] Following in the footsteps of the previous track, this is another venture in to sci-fi night trance – with a couple of surprises thrown in just to break the mould… The biggest surprise is the female vocals which I did *not* see coming… But they are a welcome – and experimentation like that is what grabs and retains focus… And some of that same experimentation would have worked wonder in the second half of the track which has a couple of stale moments… Still a tasty track though! #09: Utb Remix [146 BPM] My sources (Well, my buddy Guillermo) tells me that Utb is an acronym for Unleash The Beast – a track which was originally featured on Rev’s album Inverted (Doof/2005) – and now remixed for this album - and coincidentally being the title track… Now I haven’t heard the original, so I can’t really comment on it… What I can do, is sit back in awe and listen to this raging mad, piece of nocturnal horror trance… Galloping away at an incredible speed this is definitely not for the fainthearted… This is pure evil, relentless, four-to-the-floor material… Very energetic and it would have been the perfect party tool if it wasn’t for those horrible voice-samples… That singing is downright horrible… What a shame, coz otherwise this is a pretty awesome track – but I can’t seem to get past those hideous samples… #10: ID Slayer [146 BPM] The final track doesn’t seem as fast as the BPM would indicate – and definitely not as fast as the previous one… Anyway, what we get here is pretty standard ccL stuff… A pounding, morphed-with-acid bassline accompanied by all kinds of trippy FX… Nothing overly exiting, but nothing too boring either… It’s just plain good, wholesome psytrance… A tasty way to end the album… I didn’t really know what to expect when I first got this album. Well, I knew that Zebra-N was a very skilled producer, but on the other hand, Doof Records have often been criticised for mass releasing an endless stream of mind numbing, spirit crushing CDs in larger numbers than teenagers at a Skazi gig… But I’m happy to say, that this debut album isn’t just a pointless release – it holds some excellent music! Sure, there are a couple of tracks that wasn’t as good as previous Zebra-N material, but also a bunch of tracks up to par with his older, mostly wonderful work… Another important thing here is the level of variation. The so-called darkpsy can often become too boring, too fast – but that’s not the case here as the guys excel in surprising little twists and turns… Well done! So whilst this might not be an essential album, it surely is worthy of a purchase for fans of kaleidoscopic night trance… I’m not a big fan of the AOL-type writing on the artwork, but besides from that the cover is much better than what we’re used to from Doof Records. Also thumbs up for the Case Logic friendly DJ slip (if it had featured BPMs it would have been double thumbs up!). All in all, a pretty nice album – which fans of labels such as Parvati and Trishula should definitely not miss out on… Enjoy! Favourites: 2, 3(!!), 5, 7(!) 8. Made on 08-26-00 with Hercules Dregas by Children 1) How & when did your Zillion Mental Anarchie adventure start ? Well, the whole idea came while I was travelling two years ago in Germany. Here in Greece we have been into the scene since the early of 94.The first psychedelic parties started at that period and believe me, for the rest 4 years, Greece was one of the most beautiful places to party. Almost all the worldwide wellknown bands and DJs have been booked for an outdoor or indoor party. Two things were missing, there were no activity form Greek people to produce psychedelic trance music and a label based on Greek territory to release any kind of electronic music. Around 1997,there was a try from some people to do something but it ended to wrong direction. People started interested in fluffy cheesy stuff and a whole scene was borned, which somehow tried to suck the whole trance scene here. It was here where I thought that something should be done, at least from my side. So one night, a weird name came into my brain: Zillion Mental Anarchie.Off course, this came with the help of two good friends, Kostas and Stefanos who finally never joined this try. 2) Can you give us a brief history about the growth of your label during the last years? So in the beginning, it was just me but then a very good friend named John with whom we had been on party organizing for several years joined to help me. The first thing we thought was with what we can start. We knew a lot of bands but almost all of them had previously released an album on other labels. This was the reason why we choose to contact Lotus Omega (the Italian band known for their collaborations with Etnica as Crop Circles and GMS as Systembusters). Besides they had released only a 12" on TIP and there were available a lot of material from them. So our first release (February 00) was the debut album of Lotus Omega with title RECYCLE BIN.After this, our second release MONARCHIE (April 00) a compilation with really strong names like Saiko pod (koxbox), Planet BEN., Quixotik (quirk) and some upcoming bands like Yumade, Paps, Tripiatrik hit the scene. The feedback from this release was great. This was what we really needed. From that time we started working even harder so that we achieve a worldwide recognition 3) Could you describe us the style of trance you want to favour to be released under your label? Do you favour a particular country in the musical orientation of your label? Our aim is not to put ourselves into a boundary, that's why we always try to be in the middle. This is proved with our further release schedule. But to be honest I was always been into the techno scene. Anyway, we will always try to release innovative danceable music. 4) Could you give us a general survey of the main artists who currently release stuff under your label? At the moment a new compilation is ready for release. With this compilation we tried to catch the mood of psy trance in nowdays. It's a little deep, techno, minimalistic, mettal but always trance. This CD contains new trax from Midi Miliz (Spirallianz), Kopfuss Resonator, Eargear, Paps, Paste, Dimo, Dat pirates on Dope, Logic Bomb and Wizzy Noise. As you can see there is a mix off all directions into trance. 5) Whose artists would you like to work with? This is really difficult question, but honestly Stefan (Paps), Arne (Midi Miliz), Stefan (Paste), Pea (Yumade), Jens (Eargear), Micky & Uriel (Wizzy Noise) are really cool guys. 6) Is there another particular label you appreciate a lot for its musical orientation? I really admire what the Rhino guys do.Also there are some new labels like Tatsu, Iboga, Sphastic Elastic, Naja, Digital Structures which had some awesome releases during this year. 7) Do you organize parties with your label? Definetely, cause this is a good way for advertisement of our label. We had some good label parties around Europe including to the best trance club here in Europe-Natraj-Temple in Munich. We had cool time there and we really enjoy our sets (almost 10 hours), Lot's of time to check new material 8) Are you used to DJ in these parties? If so, what kind of stuff do you play as a DJ in these parties? Yes I DJ in these parties with my partner. It always depends on the audience. We try to make happy all the people who come to listen music just what they really like but without forgetting that entire people who come to listen some new killer music 9) What do you think about the future of psychedelic trance (Infected Mushroom, Astral Projection, Hallucinogen, Cosmosis, Space Tribe, Sandman, and Space Cat...)? It seems one of your compilation titles says you think it's R.I.P ... And the one of minimal trance (Son Kite, Paps, Tripiatrik, Bus, Tarsis, Yumade, Logic Bomb...)? During the last year we were witnesses of a phenomenon, the turn of the music from more melodic to darker, deep and minimal. Fewer sounds are used now to participate a track with more clear basses and no more acid lines like in the past. About R.I.P, I think that Matsuri identified this. What I think is that in the end they will survive all the people who will harmonize themselves with what it is really needed. 10) And what about the future of your label? What do you project to release in the next months? Well for beginning we have ZMA Cd003(mid September) :world techno alliance then we gonna release our first 12" with Wizzy Noise(they have produced some really killers stuff which will dominate the dancefloors)then a 12" with Eargear.By mid of October the debut album of Wizzy Noise will be ready for the market.Meanwhile we are thinking to co-operate with some cool bands like Midi Miliz,Paps-Droidlock,Paste,Opsis. Thanks a lot :-)
  9. Made on 05-02-02 with Pea by MK Chong 1) I liked the pic of you guys chasing cows on your last album. How did that come about ? We were in country side e few years ago, we had a special night and the next day,we started by some "physical training", like running after cows for hours...... 2) What are your thoughts about your debut album (Danz Ego) ? We are proud of that album but I think many peoples were expecting something different, and I think the "Danz ego" released too long time after production. Anyway this album was like an introduction to what we do now, a mix between techno beats and trancey feeling. 3) How does this next one (Klanguage) differ ? The quality of the production is really better, and we tried to build the album like a dancin' journey including many different grooves and atmospheres, using also our mainstream influences..... The album is mainly dance-floor orientated but not full-on. 4) What artists do you like to listen to ? I like a lot Igneous Sauria (chris from Magus) who is doing a remix for us, synchro too ; Also some productions from the northern label like spiral trax, mpxdq and Creamcrop whitch is our closer connection. I like also what is doing the label Mutekki in Germany. Honnestly,I have not so much time to search and listen all the music..... 5) What do u like to listen to at home ? I'm mostly listening down tempo electro tracks, as well as tek-house productions, what I'm also producing also under the project name "yuksek". 6) Over the years the style of music that the act "Yumade" has produced has changed considerably, in what direction do you see your music heading in ? I think music is what the people are feeling with, for me the main difference is the quality of production and the speed of the tracks, it's going for sure more techno but we feel the same when we are writting music from the begining..... 7) What do You use to make your music? hardware, software ? we are using all that the technology is offering to home-studio! We use some synths (prophecy,ms10,juno106....) and mostly samplers ,digital/analog effects and audio software editing, we are not using too much virtual synthesizers at the moment...... 8) What are you doing in life except creating the "Yumade" project ? I am involved in the label DATABASS music, new french label building the connection between our own projects(yumade ,tripiatrik, snug as a bug/face) and someother projects (paps, dardan, kent, dhya), showing the french techno-trance sound. Appart of it we are playing tennis and also releasing tek/house and down tempo tracks under the name"yuksek" on hypnotic music(fafa monteco),french house label. 9) Where can people get hold of releases by your side-project "Yuksek" ? At the moment, the first EP is out everywhere since the 25 of march. It's called Yuksek "Friendship salad " Ep and it's worldwide distributed by Cyber production. One track is also releasing on the Hypnotic compilation coming in May....... and I made a remix from a monteco's track for that compilation. 10) Fafa Monteco, I'm surprised to hear you mention his name - he has released some wicked tunes of late, what can you tell us about Fafa ? first of all fafa is a well known dj and he's playing all the time, and the labels take the rest of its time. But he is now starting to work on his first solo album whitch gonna release at the end of the year. Since the "save our soul " Ep ,nothing released under this name. Superfunk was also a huge commercial success. 11) How did you get involved with Hypnotic Music ? Do they have a web-address they can be viewed at ? I completly freaked out on 2 maxis from his label, And his office and home is 200 meters from where my girlfriend lives in Paris, so I decided to contact him and let him listen my tunes..... then it comes..... www.hypnotic-music.com 12) Do you have any tips for beginners who DJ or make music ? Try to do something you really like, not listening to people critisising what you do, because nobody is really honnest in critics..... either good or bad! 13) Thanks a lot & keep up the good work !
  10. Made on 12-11-00 with Yahel Sherman by Children 1) How and when did you start to make Goa ? I have been listening to Psy trance since its begining (1990). My first "official" release was "La Esperanza" on Full On 3. 2) Do you project to release a new album ? When would you release it ? I have no doubt that I will make more albums, but for now I concentrate on promoting my latest album - "Waves Of Sound" and doing Live gigs in Israel and world wide. 3) Which of your own tracks (or in collaboration with another artist) do you like the best ? My greatest track is "For The People" which I made together with Erez Aizen(Infected Mushroom). Other then that I love all my music although I know not all of it is considered "Goa" or Psychedelic. 4) Your favourite psychedelic Groups & Albums ? Martin Freeland (MWNN), Infected Mushroom, Izik Levy (Sandman/Green House Effect), Xerox, Paul Van Dyk. 5) Where does your inspiration come from ? My inspiration comes from the people. I try to make my music as pleasant as possible because I believe that today the music and the scene has changed. People want to enjoy music more then fight it. 6) What kind of equipment do you use to make your Tracks ? I don't have a lot of equipment. I work a lot with Audio programs + Virus, Yamaha CS-1, Multi Effect DP-4, Beringer Monitors, Neve console(2 slides). 7) Future projects ? I am now working on a remix for Witchcraft's "Eastern Rain" together with it's original performer - Izik Levy. It will be featured on the new Green House Effect album. I made some Deep Trance tracks that will be out on leading European labels of club music. I also just released a new CD single on HOMmega by the name of Sound & Melody ep. 8) Is there any artist you'd like to work with ? Well from Israel I always wanted to make tracks with Erez Aizen and Izik Levy and I guess this dream of mine has fulfilled itself. From Europe I would love to make a collaboration with Martin Freeland and Paul Van Dyk. 9) Do you play DJ sets ? If so, what kind of stuff do you play as DJ in parties ? Yes, I DJ a lot in Israel and all around the world(U.S.A, UK, Japan, Switzerland, Hungary, Greece...) In my sets I play a lot of my stuff combined with tracks from the likes of Infected Mushroom and Xerox. I also play successful tracks of Quirk, Purple & Lunar, Tarsis, Cosmosis, Space Cat... I also tend to mix in a lot of commercial/electronic main stream tunes in my set. 10) When & where was your best party ? Switzerland & Japan were my best parties so far. 11) What do you think about the evolution of psytrance in the last years (in Israel as well as in Europe). Have things gotten better/worse according to you? I think that the music is going back to it's roots. It's recycling. It seems that every generation wants to enjoy the same music but with modern standards and an updated sound production. 13) Thanks a lot !
  11. Made on 10-11-00 with Moshe Kenan by Children 1) How and when did you start to make Goa ? I started making Trance music in 1996. My first official track was a collaboration with synchro under the name Kailum (this name was later adopted by my first musical partner - Dave Saragosi) and soon after I started a "solo" direction as Xerox. 2) Do you project to release a new Xerox album ? Or a new Xerox & Freeman one ? When would you release it ? Yes, both albums are "in the works" and will be released during 2001(in no special order). 3) Which of your own tracks (or in collaboration with another artist) do you like the best ? Maskalin - " Alien Funk " Xerox & Freeman - " Human Race " Xerox & Freeman - " Karina "(Rmx) Xerox & P.cok - " Mascok " Xerox - " Tune In " 4) Your favourite psychedelic Groups & Albums ? On the Israeli front I like Sandman, Infected Mushroom, Freeman and BLT. I also admire the international success of Astral Projection along the years. As for foreign music, I "worship" Juno Reactor and almost all U.K releases. Favorite albums...* Chakra & Edi Mis - The Promised Land * * Transwave - Phototropic * * Juno Reactor - Bible Of Dreams * * Eat Static - Crash & Burn * * Xerox & Freeman - Human Race " 5) Where does your inspiration come from ? I listen to a lot of trance music but I try not to be influenced by anyone in particular. My roots are in Funky, Black music and I am a slave to "Rhythm & Groove ". 6) What kind of equipment do you use to make your Tracks ? My studio is also the HOMmega studio so it's actually 2 studios. One is used for producing young talented artists and the other is for the "Xerox Project". The studio is highly equipped with a strong and advanced PC computer built especially for music productions and contains a big amount of memory and processors. "Noise System" includes Waldorf XT, Virus, Freebase, 2 Samplers(Akai & EMU), Novation and more... Sound is monitored by Event monitors and finally mixed down to a Mackie 24/8 mixer. I also use some Audio programs & effects in some of my tracks. 7) Future projects ? Aside for a lot of tracks I will release on forth coming compilations(Return To The Source, Full On 5,...) I hope to manage and finish the debut album of my project - Maskalin which is a collaboration with the very talented Izik Benisty(a.k.a Cosmic Navigators). I also plan to make a few remixes for some great trance hits from the past. 8) Is there any artist you'd like to work with ? I like to work with others and this is why many of my tracks are collaborations. I would love to do a track with Etnica or Chakra. 9) What kind of stuff do you play as DJ in parties ? I like all kinds of electronic music. I guess you can say I play a bit of everything. From "Full On" Israeli trance through English Psy-Trance to hard & minimalistic Swedish/German stuff. I just finished compiling a CD with most of it's tracks taken from my recent DJ sets("In My Brain"). 10) When & where was your best party ? And your worst one ? My worst party was in Greece(1998). There was non-stop rain, lousy sound system, not so many people and we were not treated properly at all . My best parties have been in Switzerland(the people there just cant get enough of Trance) and in New York With Green Nuns Of The Revolution(1999). 11) Would you like to give any special message to everyone reading this? Give Trance A Chance ! Respect the older & younger artists ! Be Objective ! And most important...KEEP YOUR FAITH in trance music. 12) What do you think about the evolution of psytrance in the last years (in Israel as well as in Europe). Have things gotten better/worse according to you? Well, you could say that the evolution of psy-trance has gotten to a point where the Technical Quality of today's productions is much more professional. What I feel is missing is more musical influences in the making of the music. Some of the tracks I hear today are just made for vinyl mixing and don't lead you anywhere as a full story. Something is missing! Bring back the music 13) Thanks a lot & good luck for your next albums ;-)
  12. Made on 02-18-01 by Infected M@x 1) Who are you guys ? Jonathan : We're Jonathan Dagan and Shay Raviv. 2) How old are you ? Jonathan : 19 both of us. 3) Where do u live ? Jonathan : We live in Haifa. Israel. 4) Where did u met and when ? Jonathan : We met at school about a year and a half ago, but we weren't friend in school, just by accident one day, Shay came to my house and i wanted him to hear an industrial piece i made and then we worked on it a little and what came out in the end is our first track (which is also the first track in the album "First Sign of Communication") and from there things just flew the right way . 5) "First Sign of Communication" is your incoming album i guess ? Jonathan : Yes this is the incoming album. 6) Before you met..You made music alone? Jonathan : We were making music for a long long time before we met and we are still doing our own projects. 7) Did you learn music in a school? Or did u learn 100% by yourself ? Jonathan : Shay learned piano about 11 years and Johnny learned piano for two years and guitar for the last 11 years. The computer thing we learned each one alone, and Erez also tought us some stuff that alone it could have taken few good years to figure out. 8) How would you define your music...if you can?? Jonathan : That's hard, and we alway sound like two stupid guys that don't know how to answer... Our basic lines are strange and twisted and psychedelic. 9) How comes your music is trancey if you began with industrial stuff ? How did u met trance? A brain accident again? Jonathan : Shay is doing a lot of time Trance , and i (Jonathan) was working by the time we met, on soft industrial, Shay was also doing great Ambient pieces, so the "soft" industrial was not that far from Ambient, and it was a kind of a "give and take". Shay at the first place got well connected to that kind of industrial and we showed each other new horizons 10) How began the BNE adventure? How did they discover you? Jonathan : One day me and Johnathan (Shay speaking) crashed into BNE office while they were on a meeting and we said that we want them to hear something. So Avi Brand (BNE's CEO) said to us to go away and leave the cd, then they would hear it later. But we said to him that we would stay there untill he would listen it. After the meeting was over, he sent one of his man to one room to listen to our stuff, and he said that we had two minutes to listen to it and after 45 minuts he started to be very nice to us. 11) How were u so sure they would like? U tested the tracks on your friends ? Shay : We have a very unique and special music and we are very self confidented about our music. 12) People only know you throught the track Sense (Hommega Life Is) Can u tell me how did u do that track ? How did u had the idea to make a slow bpm thing. Shay : Most of the tracks, in the upcoming album are kind of ambient/breakbeat and stuff like that (but not necessarly low tempo) i guess we just don't think in terms of doing music for trance parties, we do what ever goes at the same time of doing the track. 13) The voice, in Sense ? What is it ? A sample or someone who singed for u ? Shay : The voice of sense is a great singer called avital sivan and this is the place to say thank you. After we recorded her we did a manipulation of her voice in several parts of the track. Our voice is also being heard in Sense and actuually the whole album is with our moans and growls and more few sounds that we didn't know that the human body can acomplish. 14) When in sense can we hear your voice ? Shay : You can't tell that it is our voice on sense because it sounds like an effect because we had changed it using audio plugs and effects. If you listen carefully you hear a lot of Vbhhhhhhs and Ahhhhs. And if you play it backwards you hear "Paul is dead" and "MOM" "MOM '" Just kidding. 15) And the sample in the beginning ? Where does it comes from? Shay : From a TV program on some kind of mushrooms... 16) Strange. Shay : Why? 17) Because it sounds like a sample from a drug movie or something like that... Shay : We don't see drug movies, the last movie we sampled was "Kermit the frog finds his testicles" and "Kermit finds Happiness" 18) I wish i saw the testicle episode Shay : You missed it... It was a great episode, don't mention the episode when he finds out that he's a frog...buy a DVD man. 19) Do you plan to make more full on tracks ? Or u're not interested ? Shay : We like a special kind of " full on " and we are doing all kinds of music also Rave/Techno stuff we are not the usual trance performance. 20) Avi Brand (BNE's CEO) defines you as a crossover between Eat Static and Hallucinogen. Do u feel the same or is it a marketing bullshit? Shay : Avi Brand know something except Bob Dylan? I'm surprised !! Well, we are not connected to any specific band, but we do have a lot of inspiration from few... kind of a lot actually. 21) Who? Jonathan & Shay : Well : you want names? 22) Yes... ! Jonathan & Shay : Front Line Assembly, Young Gods, Depeche Mode, Nine Inch Nails, Primus, Eat Static, Deviant Electronics, Anne Clarck, Dream Theatre, Process, Tristan, Ozric, Kox Box, and much more... 23) Have you ever performed a live? Jonathan & Shay : Together no . 24) Erez Aizen is producing you album..What does it means technically and how did u meet him ? Jonathan & Shay : Two days after we were in BNE office, someone called from BNE and told us that there is someone that he thought he could help us a lot and he thought we'll get along…and that was Erez. 25) So producing means helping ? Jonathan & Shay : He no no, he didn't interfeared in the music, he only did the master, and that was producing. 26) I see. Did u knowed him from Infected Mushroom or it was the first time u heard from him. Jonathan & Shay : It was the first time. 27) How was it to work with him ? Jonathan & Shay : Well , Erez is a great guy, and with no ego problems like the other artists (and like US?) and he was and is so willing to help us and he gave us so much feedback !!!. We actually thought that if we would work with any other artist on production it would be worse than working with a producer because the producer (which is not a musician) is always objective. and we thought that a musician will not be , and some things would make him not wanting to do his best... But Erez was so professional and was a really supportive guy, and he changed us a lot in the way we work now and the way we see other musicians…we couldn't think about any one that could have done it better but Erez ! 28) Then, would you like to work with some artists ? Jonathan & Shay : Our dream is to work with Depeche Mode. But we're too busy we don't have time for that, and Madonna also calling every day, and you know how does it feels to say 5 times a day : "LISTEN , WE DON'T HAVE TIME FOR THAT !!!" But if you are asking about a trance band, so i guess we would like to work with Ben from Juno Reactor or Eat static . 29) What is your equipment? What software/hardware do u like the most ? Jonathan & Shay : Behringer Monitors (TRUTH B2031), Waldorf Microwave XT, Kurzweil K2000, Intelligate, Two channel Compressor , E-Mu Planet Phatt, Korg Prophecy, E-Mu Sampler 6400, Nord Lead, Ensoniq Ts-10 Keyboard, MC - 303 (Roland), Yamaha SY, Mackie console, Behringer console, Peavey Keyboard, Gibson Guitar, Zoom 9050 effect, Metal Zone Disto, and Peavey Special 112 Amp, and lot's of wav samples. We mainly use Cubase VST and also Wav Lab, Cool Edit, Sound Forge and few more... 30) What can u say to people who wanna make music? any advises? Jonathan & Shay : Always think different from other people. Don't imitate, innovate and always think "perfection". Don't admire your tracks and never give up ! Violins !!! 31) How much time do u spend in making a track ? Jonathan & Shay : It depends, some tracks are with singers or other musicians and these tracks are more like songs. We write them first on a paper with the other musicians and practice. But most of the tracks are just poping out from us when we are alone, and then it takes something like 4 days. The other tracks that i wrote above take at least one week. 32) So you don't work like other trance artists. Jonathan & Shay : Usually we do work like trance artists…but when other people are involved or when we want to do something less more complicated we really sit and think and write on a piano or guitar and then we "translate" it to beats and sequences ofcourse, it almost always doesn't come out as we planned, but it's mostly because we got carried away by the track, which is really important to be carried away, let the track lead us and give us something we didn't expect. 33) Do u have a clue why so many israeli artists (Infected, Darksoho, Psycraft, Domestic and so on ) come from Haifa city? Any nuclear powerplant there? Jonathan & Shay : That is exactly what i wanted to write, between our house and Erez's there are many reasons... i mean many power plants and that is the reason ... 34) Wanna thank someone? Jonathan & Shay : Our thanks will be on the CD's booklet, and i think that's all. Bye and thanks for your support.
  13. Made on 01-12-01 by Danger 1) When did you start making psytrance ? Rickard started in 1994 when he set up the Subcouds project with partner Fredrik Axelsson. Robert made his first trance tracks on his home computer around 1995 and then went on to make his first studio produced tracks in 1997. 2) Are you planning to release a new album ? In that case when will it be released ? Well. our first full length album just came out on Spiral Trax less than a month ago so right now we are just trying to work our way back into the studio. However we have already had some discussings with Anti at Spiral trax about producing a more dubby ambient album later this year. 3) Which of your own tracks do you like the best ? Big bugger! This is always a tricky question. For the moment though we have two favourites on the album. The train moving "Echo plantation" and the more laid back "Abra". A recently written track called Airfield also fit among these tunes. 4) Your favourite psychedelic Groups & Albums ? There are quite a few these days, but you always have to give some special credits to the guys in X-dream and of course to Simon Posford. These guys have a sound that very few can match at the moment. Among the new artists we really like what the Swedish boys in Son Kite are making. 5) Where does your inspiration come from ? Another tricky one! Well sometimes it might come from the daily life routines and sometimes you just do not know what inspired you to do a certain thing here and a certain thing there. Our belief is that as human beings we pick up frequencies almost all the time (even when you are asleep) some of these frequencies get stuck in your head one way or the other and unconsciously surface here and there when you make music. For the last two years we have been listening a lot to both new and old school dub artists which has affected the style of our music quite a lot. 6) What kind of equipment are you using when making the music? A few years ago we used to have a large number of different synthesizers, but at the moment we are just using three synthesizers and an Akai sampler. Apart from this we use Cubase VST together with plugins, "softsynths" and some mastering programs. We also use quite a lot Instruments and sounds recorded the old fashion way like Digeridoo, tablas and flutes. 7) Haven't you thought about a Vibrasphere+Subcouds project ? Who knows what the future holds? At the moment the Vibrasphere project takes up a lot of time and the other part of Subcouds (Fredrik Axelsson) is currently working a lot on his own "Phlat Phase" project. Perhaps a few remixes will be done in the future. 8) Future projects, new tracks ? At the moment we are working on a couple of tracks that are going to released on Spiral trax sub label, Acid Casualties later this year. We have also started the do some planning regarding our ambient dub project. 9) Is there any artist you'd like to work with ? You can learn a lot from collaborating with other artists. Unfortunately we live in a quite remote part of Europe, which make these kind of things a bit more difficult geographically speaking. For the time we are more than filling our schedules making Vibrasphere tracks, but we have recently talked with Dennis in Hux Flux about doing something together..so perhaps Vibrasphere goes "twisted" some time in the near future! 10) What do you think of the evolution of psytrance in the last years ? Hmmm.looking at it as a whole unit it is quite obvious that the development of the sound during the last say two years have been rather slow. A majority of the tracks made these days sounds very much the same. However there are of course also tracks that are really changing the future of trance. The focus is now strongly concentrated on the rhythmic side of the music and will probably continue to be so for a while. 11) What do You think about the future of psytrance ? The shift towards minimalistic techno will most probably continue, but this might also cause some sort of reaction that can take part of the scene back to where it was three to four years ago. This is the funny side of underground music, you can never control it and you can never know where it is going. 12) What was the concept when You made the album? ( I mean half of the album are dancefloorkillers and other half is very good dubby chill tunes? Ooops! Well the thing is that before we got the deal with Spiral trax we had made some demo recordings of a couple of dub/ambient tracks. Then when we sat down and started to plan the work for the album we realized that it is pretty boring to make 70 minutes with only hard kicking dancefloor tracks. This is why we in the first place decided to record two of these tracks for the album. In the end we recorded one more, but this one was the outro "Eternal feedback". As for a concept for the whole album the use of echo´s early sprang to our minds as a main characteristic for the Vibrasphere music. The artwork on the album cover is suppose to visualise an echo. 13) How would you describe psychedelic trance music in a few words? Pulsating waves of fequencies that hit you in all the right places! 14) How much time do You spend in Your studio ( Cloud 99 ) and does it give something special mentally?? Is all of your work born here?? For the last 8 months we have been doing music pretty much on a full time basis so we are there almost every day. Somedays we stay for 12 hours and some for less. It is quite a good place even if it is located in a basement. Yes we do all our work in this studio. 15) Thanks alot from the psy-community and give us more amazing tunes, both dancefloorkillers and dubby as soon as possible! We´ll try, thanks and keep up the vibe! /Rickard & Robert You can know more about them at http://www.vibrasphere.com
  14. Interview with Turbo Trance Records: L'Elf & Stella Nutella Made on 10-31-02 with Emmanuel and Hanna by Mars 1) How & when did your Turbo Trance adventure start and where are you based ? Turbo Trance started in 2000 when I met Fred @ Neuromotor, I decided to leave the label I was managing (Monolithe records) and created my own label to produce new french talents ! Turbo Trance records is based in the sound of France (Around Marseille) but the Turbo team is dispatched in different countries: Triptych (Paris/France); Stella Nutella (Amsterdam/Holland); Mumbo Jumbo (London/UK); T.I.T. (South of France); La Sainte Aise (Genève/Switzerland). 2) How did you choose this name ? I dreamt of this name, maybe strange but true !!! 3) Could you describe us the style of trance you want to favour to be released under your label? Do you favour a particular country in the musical orientation of your label? The style I want to favour is "Trance", of course oriented Psy-Trance but if we like something more progressive, we don't hesitate to release it, we don't like stickers "Full on", "Progressive", "Hard Psychedelic", "Mushroom Music", blah blah !!! All good Trance is OK even if I play Psy-Trance. Of course, I try to help my country, France, releasing french artists but I like also Trance from other countries, No border lines !!!!! 4) Could you give us a general survey of the main artists who currently release stuff under your label? I began to release some tracks of Neuromotor, Hyper Frequencies, Psyside, Silicon Sound then changed and work now more with a funkier style, Triptych wich is an exclusive artist of Turbo Trance is present on all our compilations and will release his albums on Turbo Trance records. Since some months Mumbo Jumbo joined us and are present on all our productions too, They will produce their first album with us, I'm really proud of it, I like this style so light and fresh, more groovy and funky but always Psychedelic ! 5) How do you see the future & growth of your label? What new records will you release? I hope a nice future for Turbo Trance records, we are working really hard to give a good image of our label to the Psy-Trance public and of course a good quality of releases ! I want to continue to discover new artists mixing with bigger names as Etnica, Tristan, Wizzy Noize, Bus... I don't want to favour the big names because it's better for our selling but just for their good productions ! In the future, we plan to release the Mumbo Jumbo album (december 2002), a new compilation "Unbreakable" (January 2003), the Cameleon (Bamboo Forest and Ninja) album (february 2003), the Triptych album (March 2003) and many more... 6) What artists would you like to work with? I would like to work with Saïko Pod for their very funky and deep tracks, Dick Trevor for the same reasons, the others ? already released !!! 7) Is there another particular label you appreciate a lot for its musical orientation? I like very much Transient, Dragonfly, Flying Rhino (R.I.P.)... Actually, I like the english style, they know how to make a "groove". I'm a little bit bored of Full on style even if it's a really good style ! 8) Your new compilation 'Amazon' was released a couple of weeks ago. It's compiled by Stella Nutella. Please tell us more about this collaboration. Did you enjoy making it ? L'Elf: I met Stella Nutella one year and half ago, she was leaving Organic records, I proposed her to integrate Turbo Trance records, I liked her music, his really good DJ technic, her woman feeling, She agreed, that's all ! Today I know that my choice was good, I like to work with her, she's really professional, she knows what she wants, and she's really funny. For the collaboration about Amazon, I wanted to give her the responsability of a compilation, as I liked what she did as DJ, we spoke a lot of the way of this compilation, she contacted the artists (almost all her friends), she proposed me a track listing, we decided which one are better than the others then we added the artists of Turbo Trance records: Triptych and Hyper Frequencies. For me it was more easy than for Stella (Ahahah !!). Stella: Yeah its true... Manu left all the dirty work to me! I had to spend alot of time hassling all my friends for the best tracks and the best deals, and then stand behind some of them in their studios with a whip, making sure they finished the tracks in time! Harder work that id thought... I also thought a long time of a good name... It came to me on the beach in Brazil actually. I read lots of stuff about the original Amazon warriors and yes, they were really both strong and fair and cool! 9) WHAT ?? I see no AtomstrixProjnnection in the tracklisting ???...so maybe you have a relevant definition of 'Good' music ? )) L'Elf: As I told you, I'm now a little bit bored of this style even if I think that's it's very good music ( that I play sometime) but each label who wants to have good selling are releasing this kind of Music, I want to take another way and show that all the Trance is good, some labels are enough good to release Astrix, Alien Project... We'll see what's happ in the future... Stella: I think all music can be good for the right occasion (well, almost all music!) and in this case I wanted to make a compilation that takes you on a trip... around the world and back... haha. There are a few different styles, a few of the tracks are maybe too original for some people but I think they are all really good and they fit together. People who miss the Israeli tracks can easily find them elsewhere... 10) Please present yourselves : [names/ages/nationality/location/whatyouwant] L'Elf: Emmanuel / 26 yeras old / La Fare les Oliviers (a little village hidden in the south of France)/ I want more professionalism in the Trance. No more ! Stella: Hanna (but Stella has been my nickname for many years) /27 years old / Swedish / Living in Amsterdam / I want Peace on Earth and pure Love in peoples hearts. No less! 11) How long have you been involved with the trance scene - what drew you closer to this particular genre of electronic music. Your musical background and journey through music - how it effected you and your relationship with music today ? L'Elf: I started my career in 1993, with the creation of the Magic Tribe and the organization of some Trance-sounding underground parties. Besides, I became resident of the first cyber-café in the south of France. Forerunner of the Psychedelic Trance movement in the south of France, i contributed to the development of this music. In 1994, I was remarked by « Eléolite Management » which will become « International Epsilon Booking Agency » later. In 1995, I left Epsylon to integrate into the Monolithe Records label for which I bacame the representative DJ of the Psytrance division. In 1997, I took its artistic management and contribute to the first productions with the release of my first EP (Phase One). In 1998, I coproducted Phase Two, second maxi 45rpm that I remixed with T.I.T. That remix was released by Krembo Records in 1999. Present at the biggest Trance events, I started exporting the UTP sound (my live project with T.I.T). In 2000, I left Monolithe rec and decided to create Turbo Trance Records with the discovery of the Neuromotor live act. Then I founded the « Turbo Team » and asked several DJs to join me : Gill (Hyper Frequencies), TIT (UTP), Ananda, Jessy. After that Psyside, famous live act from Paris, joined this crew. From that moment, Turbo Trance Records started its quest. In 2001, Walhalla already produced on several Psytrance labels (Moon Spirits records, Sub Machine records, Ketuh) integrates the label as well as Stella Nutella, a Sweedish DJ-Woman with an international repute. In 2002, Triptych, that is Charles a.k.a. Walhalla, became an exclusive Turbo Trance Records artist and creates at the same time the BPK project of which the album will be released soon. Then it's Mumbo Jumbo -another project of Cosmosis together with DJ Kuma already signed with Transient and Phantasm- turn to come and complete the label crew. I am also an editor for some newspapers dedicated to electronic musics, like Teck'Yo, specialized into the Psychedelic movement in France, of which i take care of the Psytrance and Sounnd Traveller parts ! Today I'm one of the main DJs representing french psytrance abroad. Stella: I was always interested in music, played the violin when I was little, and always loved electronic music. But it was hard to get hold of in my home town in the north of Sweden where everybody was listening to AC/DC or pop. I first heard psychedelic trance when I was living in the French Alps in 96, some English friends had some great tapes we used to listen to and this attracted me to London. After Id moved there later the same year I got straight into the underground party scene, It was great! In London everybody and his dog is a DJ so it was natural that I got the idea to try spinning as well, especially as i was a bit alarmed by the lack of women behind the turntables. Started playing in 98, first in Tyssen street and other venues in London but soon after also internationally... didnt have time for my job or college course anymore -this was my new mission! Nowadays Im travelling loads and have played some amazing places all over the world, and all the gatherhed impressions are now being put more and more into music production! I have made tracks with a few different people and Im really loving it. Want to get more serious and spend more time in the studio the coming year... 12) No matter how good you play, isn't it too hard for - a woman (Stella) - or a DJ far from the capital (l'Elf) to be considered seriously on this scene ? L'Elf: I prefer to stay far from the capital to work with the label, far from the problem and the stress of a big town, I work very well from my little place in the south of France, always sunny, close to the sea... Today it's easy with Internet, everywhere is very close ! I speak more with Mexican promoters than Parisian promoters. In France the Trance scene is actually very quiet, no too much parties because not enough promoters and police problems with this new "fucking" government ! I play each week end in other countries and almost never in France ! Stella: GOOD QUESTION! Well id say its really 50-50. There will always be some morons around who think that just because youre a girl and you look good this is the only reason you get bookings. There is sometimes competition and jealousy from other djs and Ive had some pretty bad experiences with this, especially in some more "macho" countries. (No-one mentioned, no-one forgotten...well what goes around comes around!) Thankfully there are also lots of nice, intelligent people out there who really appreciate good women djs and who understand the need for more female energy in dance music! 13) I guess you have been partying a lot recently...what are your current favourite groups and tracks ? L'Elf: Currently, I like Mumbo Jumbo, Cosmosis, Bamboo Forest, Biotonic, Triptych, Zen Lemonade, Altom, Ninja, Dick Trevor (all projects), Hopefiend... Ambient: T.I.T. !!! My actual favorite tracks are: Wizzy Noize / Aqua Blue; Triptych / jana; Mumbo Jumbo / jax back Stella: I just went to a nice Iboga party here in Amsterdam and they have some cool groovy sounds...also been hanging out a lot with another great musician friend who is very productive at the moment, Synchro. As for my favourite track... well its definitely one that me and my friend Stanley made last week, we have just started this new project and it is feeling great! The track is called "so mature", it is a happy morning affair that I will be playing out soon... Im so in love with it, listening to it over and over again! 14) When & where was your best party ? And your worst one ? L'Elf: I just come back from Mexico where I played a couple of dates. Maybe it was one of my best parties this year... I played in the front of the Pacific Ocean for the sunrise, the feet in the sand (No comments !). I like Mexico, each time I rediscover this country and this public so nice ! Tribe of Frog parties in Bristol & Ibiza were really good !! But I had a lot of other nice parties, difficult to tell all ! For the worst, I prefer to keep it secret for the promoter (shame on him !) ;-) Stella: Best one I played this year was VOOV... what an Experience! The worst one was one in South of Italy where everybody including myself got seriously ripped off by wasted mafia promotors. Eeks! > 15) Do you organize parties with the Turbo Trance label ? L'Elf: Of course, we had a Turbo Trance label tour in 2001 to present the label in France, it was a big succes ! After that we had a label tour in Mexico and USA during one month and half with Hyper Frequencies and Triptych, a lot of fun during this tour !! We also had a lot of Turbo Trance label parties around the world (Mexico, Portugal, France..) We'll have some other Turbo Trance label parties in Switzerland, UK, Holland... coming soon and worlwide label tour in 2003. 16) Are any of you planning to write you own music ? Or maybe together with another artist ? L'Elf: I used to make music with T.I.T. under the name of UTP signed on Krembo records and Monolithe records some years ago. Now, I have a new project with Triptych that we'll release our album in 2003. But I don't have the time actually to make music, Turbo Trance records takes all my time, taking care of my artists and playing all the week ends too ! I would like to write music with Stella, a woman has always some nice ideas ! Stella: Im going in the studio as much as I can, it started a couple of years ago when i did a Cubase course in London and realised how fun it was. Its really fun to work with different people, you can really feed off each others ideas... and yes, me too I cant wait to write music together with another girl! 17) What do you think about the psy-trance scene globally? How do you think it's evolving? Do you think it should become more popular or more underground ? L'Elf: Today the Psy-Trance scene is very big, a lot of new talents, a lot of labels, it's not like ten years ago, when I bought all the productions released (CDs & Vynils), today it would be impossible (even if I would be rich !). I think that it can become very popular but we need more professionalism from everybody, promoters, labels, artists... The public is bigger and bigger each year, you can check: this year around 15 000 people at the Boom Festival and 15 000 at the Samothraki Festival in the same week, it's incredible ! Stella: the scene is growing in a nice way I think, and yeah sure it is going commercial.... personally I really like the big events where you get to hear more than one music style! As for small underground psychedelic parties, they will always continue to exist Im sure ...nothing beats the vibe you can get in those type of parties! 18) What do you think of the MP3 revolution ? L'Elf: Actually MP3 and copy are really bad for the music ! Today, a lot of labels are closing or will close soon because the selling are going down. The people don't take conscious that they are killing the Trance copying the Cds and downloading it on the net ! If it continues like this, they will destroy the scene, no selling = no money for the label = no money for the artists = no more music = no more parties = no more fun ! I spoke with a lot of labels, and all told me that their selling are going down of the half ! It's crazy, we need to do something, stop copy ! The public, is growing up and the labels are going brankrupt, it's not normal... Stella: MP3 format is very practical if you need to send or store music but yes, Manu said it all... PLEASE try to buy the music you like otherwise eventually all psytrance musicians will start to make house music to survive. Its something alot of hippies arent aware of.. they think that "music should be free"... well maybe in a perfect world it could be! 19) Finally, do have anything else you'd like to say? L'Elf: I would like to thank all my team: Stella Nutella, Triptych, T.I.T., Mumbo Jumbo, La sainte Aise, without them, nothing would be possible ! But also all the good promoters around the world, and of course you who support us on all the dancefloors of this little planet ! Thanks to the Psynews.org crew, keep the Psy-vibes !!! Stella: Thanks to Manu (L'Elf), He is a star and a total sweetheart! A huge smile to all party friends around the globe....... keep groovin' and I hope to dance with you soon again. 15. Made on 03-24-00 with Loïc Vanpoucke by Children 1) Hi Loic ! As you can doubt many Goa people think your group is a reference in this music domain :-) Yes probably because we started in the early 90's, on the first goa-labels, and in 7 years we composed or coproduced about 80 tracks, that gave us more chance to reach the dancers 2) Ok, so let's start the interview : First of all, how would you describe Goa music in few words ? Powerfull sonic vibrations for alignment of mind , body and soul energies, the third millenium cyber ritual music. 3) Is Goa your favourite music style ? No, our global taste changes all the time, we have no ultimate favourite style, just relative favourite artists or tracks, but it has been a great fun to be part of this goa scene when it started to define itself as a style because it was a new field of creation with infinite possibilities everything to get inspiration and nobody to make us feel like followers. On the other hand it's definitely our favourite style of Dance music... 4) How and when did you start to make Goa ? We started making parties in 1989 with Trance Body Express in Paris, there was Serge, Steph and i met them between 90 and 91. In 92 we decided to start producing music, Steph was already a founder of Juno Reactor, and we all had experience as musicians, we released our first single in 93 with Dragonfly. 5) Are you currently preparing a new album ? When do you project to release it ? We found out there was something wrong about GoaTrance albums, by the time a record company can release it, everybody knows the tracks from parties or tapes and only the real fans will buy it. So we intend to put all new stuff as quick as possible on compilations, sometimes we have to take another name like The Antidote, or Alexipharmic for some Serge solo compositions. So what we put on the last album was the result of 2 years of work but putting all trance tracks aside, it doesn t mean we stopped to make any... We also plan a real revival of our old tracks on a "best of" album (that s a scoop!, if anybody feels concerned), it should come after the summer. 6) Your favourite Total Eclipse Track ? Stef: Aliens Serge: A Little Bit Of Heaven Loic: Psychedelic Terrorist 7) Your favourite Goa Group, Album, Top 5 Goa Tracks ? Once again we dont put anybody over everybody, we love the masters from the early years, Juno Reactor, TIP, Hallucinogen... but many people from the new generation are doing good (Deviant Electronic, Infected Mushroom, Tristan...) Serge current Top Five: 1/Tristan : Y3K 2/Atmos : work your body 3/Bamboo Forest : Discover (Final Mix) 4/Hallucinogen : Millenium 5/Total Eclipse : Last 8) Where does your inspiration come from ? We unconsciously recycle all of our influenced that are too many to list... we must say a lot is also coming from the machine itself : playing around with a sound or a loop you start to hear some stuff organizing itself inside you and then try to get it out of the other machines in the studio, as none of them will give you straight away the sound you want you start to experiment something else and it drives you to another space. We also always lived in places with many birds (i think they get attracted by some analog sounds) so we are use to go to bed after a night in the studio and fall asleep with them singing crazy tunes mixing in the track still running in our heads. Somehow we might recycle some of that as well ... 9) Future projects ? A lot of TOTAL ECLIPSE trance and downtempo tracks are going to be released by TIP, ATOMIC, TSUNAMI and SPIRIT ZONE, then we have the second volume of Melatonic Music, the nighttime prescription, from dark ambient breakbeats to drum'n'bass, i don't know when it will be ready... 10)Thanks a lot from all the Goa people community, and ... give us more great stuff as soon as you can ;-) You can have more infos about them at http://www.total-eclipse.com !
  16. Made on 08-16-01 with Gilles By Anoebis 1) So where, why and when did you start to make music ? I have started music when I was 8 years old, playing classic piano, (thanks to my parent) then at 13 years, the electric guitar to make rock then at 25 years the jazz my most and I finished in a music school the CNCM in Nancy, at 30 years (better late than never) because during I had to work to earn my life till then. Today I am 37 years old and dedicate myself exclusively for 7 years to electronic music. Because I really love music. I really lived something intense 8 years ago : it was a musical revolution in the same way as the psychedelic rock of the 70's. 2) Why do you make Psychedelic Trance ? For the journey and the rise that this trance can bring. 3) Which other music styles do you like ? Trip Hop and Pervading whom I make as well. 4) Your album "Technologic" is extremely full on, and that's something refreshing those days ... Were you never caught by that minimalistic wave ? Yes one day I shall manage to do some minimalism, but at the moment I should say that I look for my way in it (not easy to make it sound good) 5) Which of your own tracks do you like the most ? Replicant and Nuage d'Encens for the old tracks and I can't really say you about the numerous new ones I made. 6) What do you think about the evolution of Psy-Trance ? I had many difficulties to stop using melodies. In Paris, all DJ's play the same psytrance. I think it's possible to improve this music more in the fusion than the goa trance. I think that trance can go even further because a well-dosed mixing can give even more explosive and elevator sounds. 7) What are your favourite Trance artists & albums ? Cosmosis, Hallucinogen, Astral projection, Doof, Koxbox, Prana, Space Cat, Tim Schuldt and many others that made me travel on the dance floor … 8) What do you think about the MP3-revolution... is it a good or a bad thing ? It's a very good thing, not a dangerous one for the music like many people say, because we represent only 10% of the world population to user computers, MP3 pirates are 10% of these 10%, which makes 1% of the world population, so I don't see the problem. The music circulates, is appreciated, then tbought by quite a big number of people. CD is matter, MP3 is impalpable, so people want to touch it, as we're in a society of consumption. 9) What do you do for a living except making music ? Nobody I lost my work for the music, for a health reason. Music is best medicine I know. I overcame difficulties thanks to my head and the help of the state, which give me a pension, which allows me to eat and make lot of music (such a pleasure). 10) You're also a DJ... What kinda stuff do you play on parties ? My music! 11) What was your best and worst party ? The party best I made was in Portugal, they have the power. The worst are the recent ones in Paris. 12) What will the future bring ? More albums releases ? Future will bring a numeric technology that is only beginning. Computers will permit us to do many more things in the future and that's a really good thing. 13) Thanks Gilles for doing the interview and we hope to hear more stuff from you soon ! Thank you too, I have many new tracks, which I'd like to be released on 2 albums, maybe soon if I find a good label, a real one …
  17. Made on 05-30-01 with Pentti Slayer and Tim Thick by Mindbender 1) What were you doing before writing psy-trance ? Pentti: Pissing in my pants. Tim: Musicwise ? Pentti: Pissing in my bed. 2) In any way... What did you do in life, maybe musicwise or otherwise ? Pentti: I played drums, went to school. Tim: I went to kindergarden... Because in Finland they start going to school at seven. But actually I started making psy-trance when I was seven and we lived in England and so I was going to school, in third grade or so. 3) So you were making psychedelic music already then ? Tim: Or just shortly after, when I went to Finland from there. Or actually it was the second grade in Finland when I came back. Pentti: Also the drums. The band in which I played it was also psychedelic. That was a killer band. Soon it will have a come back. 4) When was this ? Pentti: '90. 5) How and when did you start making psychedelic trance ? Pentti: I started '93. I don't know if it was psy-trance. Tim: But ofcourse it was. What else was it then ? Pentti: I don't know... It was with this Mac Mavis guy. 6) And how was it ? Pentti: It was good. It still is. Tim: Well, I answered it in the previous question, but it was in England in '85 when my dad bought me the first Atari and the Yamaha TX-1Z, that's when I started making it. And I still have the tracks from the Atari. And I still use it. 7) What about your musical background? First sudies or compositions ? Tim: Too much studies. I fed up of studies as quite young. I stopped at 17, but I had started already at four. 8) Music ? Tim: Yeah, only music. It was fucking boring. 9) Did you learn a lot ? Tim: No... no... I learned more with the Atari... and dad. 10) Your dad did music ? Tim: Yeah, mom too. And their moms and dads. It goes in the family. 11) Any known people or artists ? Tim: No... Maybe somewhere... but not on planet Earth. 12) And you, Pentti ? Pentti: I've been playing drums since I was twelve. 13) And how old were you then when you started making psy-trance ? Pentti: Twenty. 14) Why did you choose to make psy-trance over any other medium of music ? Tim: Do we have a choice ? Pentti: Yeah, I don't know. 15) Could you elaborate on that ? Tim: I could ask that why do you want to call this type of music psy-trance, just as well. I don't think I would get an answer on that. It just happens. If I'd have a choice, I would make easy listening. But were just practising. 16) And you, Pentti ? Pentti: Just easy listening. 17) How did you come up with name Texas Faggott ? Tim: There is this instrument, the faggott instrument, which we were sampling. And then we had to choose from one of our many, many, many band names. We used on every track a different band name. Like we still do, except when somebody wants to release them. Andrew Till said that 'Hey, you have to have one name to release one record'. So then we had choose an international one and then only one was Texas Faggott... And because we had been sampling te faggot instrument, I thought it was appropriate. 18) And how about Mandalavandalz ? Pentti: Who are they ? Tim: I've heard of them. Pentti: I've heard of them. 19) And Shiwa 2000 ? Tim: Yeah, I admit. Pentti: I don't. Tim: What about Shiwa ? 20) How did come up with name ? Tim: Aah... Wel, well. I think it is pretty obvious where Shiwa 2000 comes from. Pentti: It's just one letter. Tim: And I can say that foreigners will never understand it so might as well not even comment on it. It our Finns little secret. 21) And Mandalavandalz, you don't want to comment on the name ? Tim: Oh, oh... I've heard a rumour that the name comes from that eight Buddhist monks spent the week the using millions of grains of fine coloured sand to create a large sand-painting mandal and this mandala was destroyed by vandalz. Such ceremonies help the monks to reduce attachments and desires. Pentti: But it is just a rumour. 22) So how do these different projects differ or do they differ at all ? Pentti: No. Tim: No. 23) Do have any future projects that differ in other ways, except the name ? Tim: Well, the most notable one should be definetly the Demon Teachers project on MDMT records. Pentti: And I've also heard of a rumour on Mandalavandalz that it's going to be released really soon on Karelia records. Tim: But, that's not a rumour. Pentti: No. 24) Anything else ? Tim: Well, http://play.at/thixxndixx There's the sound for the party tonight. You don't need a frisbee to party tonight. It's all I can say. 25) Are there any other artists you'd like to work with ? Pentti: I'd like to make a track with these Machu Pichu. The guys from Latin America that play in the srteets. They have pretty similar tracklists everywhere, they're great. Or maybe with some really good fake Elvis. Tim: I'd like to work with Lords of Acid. 26) What do you think about Lords of Acid ? Tim: I think it's very nice. New-school Goa-trance. 27) Do you have any other future album release plans ? Pentti: Soon. Tim: After September, April possibly. ASAP. 28) Is making psy-trance sufficient for living, or do you have other jobs ? Tim: Yeah, I have another job, but it is definetly not sufficient for living. It should be the other way around. That life is sufficiet enough to make psy-trance. So that it is the only way I can think it to be, because otherwise it goes the wrong way. What the heck! How can you then know what it really is, if you approach it from the other direction. So can't really think of it in that way. If somebody makes a living out of it, I'm pretty sure that there has to be something wrong, because I haven't seen it possible and everybody I have seen doing it, have been doing it the right way, from the other direction. Pentti: We get travels. Tim: Yeah, yeah. Pentti: That's better than money. Tim: My other job is the system administrator of the universal proxy. 29) What are you doing in life except working and making music ? Pentti: Nothing. We travel. Tim: But we've been making music also while travelling, so nothing. Pentti: Maybe sometimes watch TV. Tim: I don't. Pentti: But I work for a record company. Tim: I like stare at the monitor 17-18 hours a day and it's starting to hurt. It has been like that for years and years and years. Maybe soon, it is worth doing something else. Pentti: I work for Karelia [Finnish psy label] records. 30) Who else works with you at Karelia records ? Pentti: There's a guy called Ruppa Hodari, Mr. Lahtinen and I can't remember the last bums name, but you can check it out in the internet. www.kareliarecords.com 31) So where do you get your inspiration for music and what are your main influences ? Pentti: niffing glue. Tim: Ricky Farting. Britney Spears. Pentti: I like this thing [he's playing with a 'vappu' or mayday toy, that makes a sound]. It is very inspiring. Tim: Finnish vappu is very inspiring. Pentti: When you're bored it is inspiring. Tim: I answered to this question also already by saying that life should be sufficient enough to make psy-trance. Because it springs from it it and celebrates it. It is it itself. 32) What other artists do you like ? Tim: I like... I like them all. Pentti: I don't like anything.. Tim: I mean it is all ok, it just bothers me secretly. Pentti: I secretly like something... It's a secret so I can't tell. Tim: I secretly don't like somethings. Secret Chiefs. Secret Chiefs. That's the other artist we like. And Omituisten Otusten Kerho. And I.L.O, I.L.O. is our main inspiration. http://come.to/silokki is their home page. They're one of my favourite artsts. Young shamans from Finland. 33) What other music styles do you like ? Pentti: I like everything which is good. Tim: I like only house-music. Pentti: Tough disco. Tim: I just decided. I just decided! I like only house-music.I like old Goa. Pentti: Koa. Koti-Koa. Tim: 'Look, mom. I made some music'-Goa. 34) Which of your own tracks do you like the best ? Tim: I like Hjalemaa on the first record. Pentti: I like Horny Motel. Tim: I like Hjalemaa, because Horny Motel is a little bit personal. Pentti: Horny Motel is personal, but I like Hjalemaa second best.. Tim: They are the closest to easy-listening. They are closest to our destiny. But now I think we've improved so much that it is much more easy listening than the before. We're getting there. Someday we'll be really making easy listening. Pentti: Maybe we can make a few good tracks for the future ? Tim: Yes, we're trying. Trying hard everyday. [Laughter] [sigh] 35) What's your recipe or how do you make a good track ? Tim: First you put a bass drum. Pentti: The bass drum is the hardest. Tim: Yeah. [laughter] Then you put one 303. Or Rebirth... Then you put 128 bars of that and then you put in a sample, which says 'psychedelic aliens' and then... Pentti: Or 'space aliens'. Tim: 'Space aliens' is also ok. Then it starts again and for approximately 5 or 10 minutes it goes on. Then you record it onto DAT and then you copy it on your computer and upload to a server and come back to check after 10 years if somebody has clicked it.That's all you need to do. Then it is a killer. Pentti: But the hi-hats also. Don't forget the hi-hats! Tim: It adds spice. Pentti:You can do it without, but it's a little spice. Tim: Actually for ingredients, it is better to consult Squaremeat, because I have heard they cook pretty cool soup. Pentti: Hot soup, rather. 36) What equipment do you use to make music ? Pentti: Rebirth and bass drum... and hi-hats. Tim: And the general midi toaster. But it is a little bit broken. I heard there is some guy somewhere in Bulgaria, who can fix it. But you need to get a van to drive there. Because ESEK [a Finnish association supporting artists] won't give us the funds. Pentti: And then there is this [playing with the vappu instrument again]. It is very important. Tim: Vappu instruments. Pentti: And a microphone. And the bitch-to-midi converter. 37) Do you use psychedelics and if so does it influence the music that you make ? Tim: I don't know. Pentti: I don't tell... I don't use anything. I've tried everything, but I don't use anything. Tim: Yeah, I don't know. I really don't know. Maybe, maybe it's because, if I would have taken psychedelics I would have affected my consciousness, which I am conscious of, so how could have I noticed if they affect the music ? I don't know. And even if I knew, I probably wouldn't remember anymore. 38) Do you DJ, and if so, what type of stuff do you play ? Pentti: No. Tim: No... But I would play DJ Kraavilohi In Mursu We Trust -LP. On a never ending loop. And ofcourse Jean Pierre and Micheal Henry psyche-rock. Old classics to end the set. Maybe someday I learn to be a DJ. Pentti: I have a beat calculator. Tim: Alright! You've been secretly practising to be a DJ! Pentti: Yeah, like with beats. Tapping the beats. Tim: Yeah, I have to confess also that I have this one friend who is a DJ, who could show me how to Dj, but I don't think I have time for it. I think DJing is too difficult for us. 39) When and where was your best party and why was it the best ? Tim: It wasn't. Pentti: It was like when I was 5 or 6 I drank like 6 cokes in one birthday party and had a huge amount of cake. And almost shitted in my pants. Tim: Wow, that's trippy. Pentti: Yes, it was a killer party. Tim: But then you didn't shit after all. Pentti: No, I ran home. It was like a question of seconds. Tim: I redefine my answer. The best party is next party. 40) What was your worst party then ? Pentti: It was the same one. It was so fun when I ate, but my stomach didn't like it, so it was also the worst party. When I was 6 at a classmates birthday. Still having dreams... Tim: The worst party was the first one. 41) What's your opinion on the drugs related to parties and the music ? Tim: I think people should start sniffing glue a lot more, because it is legal and it doesn't hurt. Pentti: It's not so like dangerous. Tim: Yes, because you don't get involved with criminals. And you get hallucinations and a psychedelic state. Pentti: And it is cheap! Tim: And you could never this kind of a state with the psychedelics they sell on the streets, I have heard. Also I think it is very rude the way these snuff dealers walk around at the parties selling snuff, snooze, Swedish tobacco. Pentti: You know Swedish snuff dealers. Tim: That's such a strong psychedelic that people need the proper spiritual guidance to accept the state. Pentti: And experienced guide. Preferably Swedish. Tim: I think people should stop taking that snooze stuff. Pentti: At least the rough stuff. Like 'pussinuuska', the snuff already in bags, it is a milder drug. Maybe it should be legalized. Not the bad stuff, not the hard stuff. 42) What do you think about the scene globally ? Tim: [long silence] I think so many different things about it everyday, that I can't remember everything I've been thinking. My opinion changes every second, and I am not exaggerating. And I wouldn't have noticed, unless I return to the same point but with a lot more and nothing less. That where I end up when I think globally everyday, I end up always at the same point, but with a lot more. It changes so much every second, that I can't grasp even right now. I think it would be easier for people concentrate on true manners that provide us these experiences than to try to define these different types of things and just play it out. All that has nothing to do with this in my opinion and that is why it is sometimes better to just to go with your eyes closed to place of which we were talking about. And when you walk with your eyes closed, you think a lot of things. Pentti: I was a test driver for team monde, I have to walk everywhere we go eyes closed, globally. So I can't really tell anything about it. I've been there, but I haven't seen anything. Except black. Tim: And it was particularly handy when we got these blindfolds from British Airways. Pentti: Yeah, kinky shit. Good for parties. But here in Finland I don't have my glasses, so I can't see anything right now, but I used to see something before our journeys. Tim: Where are your glasses, mate ? Pentti:They're broken. 43) How do you think trance music will evolve in the future ? Tim: Exponentially. Well, I say, that I know the future to be dualistic. Other, first, there will be big-stiff-rhythmic-retension and, second, there will be yankey-grooving. Pentti: With 8 Hertz multipliers. Tim: So that's all there is going to be. And from that point onwerds we can only talk about the evolution of both of these. They are not styles, they are not genres, they are not labels artists or anything. They are just the state of trance music which is slowly starting to fall into place, slowly manifesting itself. Pentti: And the 8 Hertz and its multipliers ... 44) What do think about psychedelic trance music becoming more popular or staying underground ? Tim: I think it was bigger before. Pentti: Same. Tim: I think it just getting smaller. Pentti: Yeah. Tim: Lot more drop outs than drop ins. I mean, lots more drop ins than drop outs, nowadays. Lots more drop ins than drop outs. Pentti: We try to be kind of like a 'shooting star'-type of a band. That would be great. One hit miracle. Tim: Yeah. Maybe we make that someday. Pentti: Maybe not. Maybe maybe. 45) What do you think about the evolution of psychedelic trance music in the last years ? Tim: About the woman of psychedelic trance music? It started... thay have started a relatively fast transformation towards this dualistic; stiff-rhythmic-retention and yankey-grooving. That those two are slowly starting to... to... you can see the outlines of these two. Both are protesting almost at themselves, which means that they are two separate, yet same instances, meaning that they are just coming clearer and clearer, 'cus anybody can understand what means 'stiff-rhythmic-retention' and if somebody can prove to me that it is not the leading musical motif in 'psy-trance' today, then I can admit that "No, it has been evolving. It is not retarded." But this stiff-rhythmic-retention is present, as anybody with clear brains can see. And this is something I am not personally responsible of and that's why I can also say that there is the yankey-grooving side building very, very strong, with people approaching it from the right direction and it has always been like this, but for people to whom it isn't like that, then they cannot see it that way, from that direction, because they haven't grown into it, they have grown out of something to it, and that is the difference. Yankey-groovers and stiff-rhythmic-retarded. And both can help each other in many, many ways, but the most to give have the yankey-groovers at the moment, if we are talking of evolution. If we are talking of evolving. Pentti: Next. 46) What do you think about the development of your own music ? Tim: Well, I have said many times, that it is slowly, slowly becoming more easy-listening, but very slowly. Sometimes we are depressed of this fact that it is still very, very... Pentti: Like trying to be easy-listening. Tim: Yeah, trying to be easy-listening. It's not like... you know... Pentti: Genuine ... Tim: Yeah, genuine easy-listening. 47) What is the craziest thing you ever did or the craziest experience you've had ? Tim: [long silence, laughter, very long silence] Pentti: Well, I went to the army. [laughter] Tim: Well, that answers that... I just have to say that the craziest experience is the next experience. That is so true, you know. I keep thinking and thinking and scanning for crazy experiences, but I have only felt that the crazy experience is all the time ahead of me. Like, coming up. 48) What are your spiritual beliefs ? Pentti: Spiritual ? Tim: None, I only will to understand. Pentti: Material. Tim: I only will to understand material. Pentti: I'm very materialistic. Materialististic. Tim: All those empty black-holes. Pentti: Those lots better than granmahuts. Tim: Yeah, that's it. Pentti: From Sweden... I'd, oh shit ... Tim: I don't believe, or I don't will to believe, I wish to understand rather. I'd rather understand. Pentti: I'd rather be stupid... and fat. [laughter] Stupids are like happy, and fats are like... Tim: Lepposia [something between easy-going, happy, nice and relaxed] Pentti: Lepposia [more laughter]. Maybe there is one medicine for it. It is called beer. If you drink lots of beer, it can make you fat and stupid also. 49) Do you have any tips you could give to people who are starting to make music ? Pentti: Buy bass drums [laughter]. Tim: Stop it right now! You are on the wrong path. Turn back fast, you have no time to waste! Get back to your normal life. Pentti: But the bass drum is the first. Tim: Yeah, buy a bass drum and ask for a MC-303 for Christmas. That's it man, that's the ultimate advice. 50) What do you think about the mp3 revolution ? Pentti: I don't really know anything about it. Tim: I don't know, it is my life. It's my life. Pentti: [singing]...'it's my life'... But is it my life like Dr. Alban's., it sounded like it, like Dr. Alban's ... Tim: Yeah, I haven't found that on Napster. I am very disappointed. If somebody has it, could you please e-mail it to me. Pentti: But it sounds like 'kiss my ass'... [singing]...'kiss my ass'... Tim: Yeah, that's right. Maybe the Machu Pichu arrangement could be 'Kiss my ass'. Pentti: So, maybe if it is your life, maybe you have to kiss ass. Tim: Yeah. Pentti: What great advices! 51) Do you have anything you'd like to say to your fans ? Tim: Stop sending all that underwear and all those whiskey-bottles, because we can't fit them into our time schedule. Pentti: We get so much fan mail! Tim: Please stop sending all that fan mail. Pentti: My mailbox is like full of ... Tim: ...crazy teenage girls, screaming. Pentti: Yeah, everywhere we go. Tim: It's too much, please cut it down fans. Take it easy, do something cool. At least, don't waste money on our idiotic records. 52) That was the end of the interview, thanks ! Tim: Really! That was such a great interview. Pentti: Such a mindbending interview [laughter]. Tim: Yeah, exactly. Pentti: Exacry. Tim: Exacry. Pentti: Up-so-root-me! Tim: That was one of the best interviews ever. Really extensive thoughts and speculations.
  18. Made on 04-25-02 with Omar Chelly by Jeto 1) How many members consist in Tegma, and how did the name arise ? Well, Tegma is me Omar Chelly 23 years old and Jason Orfanidis 22 years old. Originally the name Tegma didnt have any meaning, it was just something we came up with by mistake. But later we found an explanation of it, We are both born and bred in Sweden but our parents have foreign roots so we took that. 2) Can you tell us a little more about this explanation ? Tegma is short for Tunisian Egyptian Greek Malmoe association since my parents are from Tunisia and Egypt and Jasons from Greece and we all live in our dear hometown Malmoe. 3) When did you first start to produce music ? Was it always Trance ? Well i started by experimenting on Rebirth and various trackers in 1998, it was mostly for fun so we started out our first project called Epsilon. This was mainly melodic Psytrance. Later we took a big step and decided to buy hadware because we wanted to take the productions a bit further. Slowly slowly we gathered equipment and by the end of 1999 our taste for psytrance started to change and we decided to put an imprint on the progressive side of Psytrance so by the beginning of 2000 we started our Tegma outfit. 4) What do you use to make these killer tunes ? Well actually we have our Pc for the sequencing and audio section and we run Cubase VST 5 on it and then we have a Hoontech Dsp 2000 Sound Card on it and a 4*4 Midi Interface for the hardware section. We have our favorite synth the Novation Nova as well as a Korg Triton, Nord Micro Modular, Yamaha RM1x and a pair of Alesis m1 active, and a 22channel analog mixing board 5) Do you project to release a new album ? When would you release it ? Well, for the moment we are working on our debut album which will be out on our homelabel Digital Structures. We have made like half of it now and the planned release will be in November. 6) How do you generally split the work between both of you when building a Track ? Well there is no standard way of how we work , different track ,different roles. Sometimes I control more aspects of a track, sometimes its Jason 7) Where does your inspiration come from ? Hmm well I would say mainly from parties we go to, sometimes when we go out clubbing we just wanna go back and work on a track And in most cases of which we have got inspiration from is not Psytrance Parties its mainly Techno Parties or from Progressive House Parties. We are both big fans of those scenes Since the production in those genres is different we get ideas of how to incorporate elements from those styles and combine it in out productions. For example we have used some house chords in our latest tracks and techno rides in others. 8) Any Future side projects ? Well… We have a progressive house project running since some months ago called Homer N Lazon its nice to try out something different gives u more experience to your productions so for the moment we have made some trax and we have signed a 12" on an english label called 3beat which will be out in may/june and we have some other on the way too. 9) What kind of music do you listen to on a day to day basis ? As i said before we like to listen proghouse and techno for the psytrance we try to not listen too much too keep our productions a bit independent. I also listen to world music like manu chao, Khaled, sometimes I go back to my roots and put on some olskool hiphop. Jason likes to listen to greek music 10) Any artists out there you would like to collaborate with ? Hmm…I think one producer we really would have like to work with would be Chab from Switzerland cos we love his productions he is a prog house producer but incorporates elements from psytrance and techno About collaboration We might do something in the future with the Ticon boys since we are good friends and live near each other and almost have similar music taste. 11) Do you play DJ sets ? If so, what kind of stuff do you play as DJ in parties ? Is it live or Dats ? Jason plays as Dj, he try to mix styles so he plays a bit trance (mainly scandinavian sound) and aswell as Proggy House and Looped Clubfriendly Techno. About our live sets well as we have seen too many artists press play and stop on cd or dats or minidiscs or whatever and pretending to play on synthesizers which we think is disrespect towards the crowd that actually comes and pay money too see you. We made a live set which is composed of: A multi track hard recorder with 16 channels. So we can control and build up the trax we make to suit the conditions and a dj mixer and a cd player to not stop the beat since we dont want any breaks between the traxx. In the future a thing in our live is that we have made some exclusive trax for it which will never be released and in the future we plan to make an even more interactive. 12) Where and when was your best party ? Experience, Our absolutely best party was in our hometown Malmoe in November at a place called Kb. The crowd was really great they gave us incredible feedback 1000 persons shouting and screaming everytime the kick entered after a break. It was an unforgettable experience for us. 13) What's your favourite track that you made ? For me it must be Sentenza cos it has this nostalgic feeling and for Jason its Bloody Mary for the dubby feeling!! 14) Is there a Tegma website where viewers can visit? No but we have a section on http://www.mpdqx.com/digitalstructures If you check the artist section you will find info about us, tourdates and releases and so on... 15) How long does it generally take you to make a Track ? Generally it takes around a week or so, sometimes more or sometimes less depending how much time we spend per day and how much ideas we have... 16) What do you prefer : to make, to play, or to listen to the music ? Listening is always, and parties is even better especially when u get good feedback , but nothing beats the feeling of making a new track. Listening is always nice, and parties is even better especially when u get good feedback , but nothing beats the feeling of making a new track. 17) Some tips for the beginners who do DJ or make music ? As Im not a Dj I cant really give good tips about that expect that its always best to start learning mixing on vinyl… 18) Any tips on producing ? For producing I always recommend that its best to start on some simple software to learn the basics..for example fruity loops or a tracker or as I did on rebirth and then to progress to some heavier programs like Reason and sequencers and finally to hardware. Although Im sure in a couple of years the softwares will be as powerful as the hardware or even better.. but Im more of a hardware junkie since I prefer to press buttons and tweak some knobs.. 19) What do you think of the MP3 revolution ? I think that mp3 is a great way of introduciing music to people who don't have access to shops and also its great for promotion..but what I don't like is the mp3 trading hysteria people spreading around unrlsd trax. I think that is disrespect towards the artists.. 20) Would you like to give any special message to everyone reading this ? Be openminded towards towards music and don't do too much drugs. 21) What do you think about the evolution of psytrance in the last years ? Have things gotten better/worse according to you ? As far as the minimal/progressive scene has become these days I think its worse it was really interesting in end of 99 /year 2000 but lately I feel that all trax are a big remix, everybody using the same basslines and lack imagination and the majority of trax are a bit too dark. I think that people wants to go to parties to return home with a smile but I think the scene is gonna change again soon and more melodies and happy feelings are going to enter again at least thats what we have tried to do in our latest productions.. So we will try make a happy and melodic album In the style of Charus Rmx and Sentenza.. 22) Is there a Original Version of Charus, Is it released ? There is a original version of Charus that we made back in 2000 it was supposed to be released on that same compilation but one week before mastering of the the comp we remixed it to show the new Tegma sound so it got released like 2 months after we made it... 23) It is known you are doing some remixes for Iboga Records.. Can you tell us a little more about the upcoming titles ? Well the deal was that 4 artists from Digital Remixed 4 iboga artists and vice versa for the new Digiboga Cd Crosslinks so Son Kite, Tegma, Ticon, P-woland, Llopis, Fabel, Beatbizarre and Reefer Decree are all included. The comp will be out in May sometime and its really great. We remixed Beat Bizarres track Outloud and they remixed our Werewolf. 24) Thank you for spending your time for this interview ;-)
  19. Made on 10-21-00 with DJ Lestat by Children 1) First of all, why " Talamasca " ? Is it an expression coming from a particular place in the world ? If so, what does it mean ? No , it is not exactly an expression , but just a name that i took in a book...exactly like Lestat , which is my dj name , and to be honnest , they both come from the same book...but the story of the book ,(and so the meaning of talamasca) even if i love it , doesn t have any connection to parties , just when I read these names , I found that they were sounding very nice...especially Talamasca , because it is very easy to remember , and when I chose it , i found that it was sounding very "trance"...but if you really still want to know , i invite you or to read the books ( it appears in many books of anne rice , an american writer...)or just to ask your internet browser to find a site with talamasca inside , believe me , you will find a lot of stuff about it before to see something about me (ah!ah!ah!) 2) How and when did you start to make Goa ? So , like many dj s, i began little by little...I bought records , practiced , and gave my first real set in a real party in summer 1992...but in that time , I didn t know anything about goa trance...I was , with my friend dj Mael , a trance core dj , only on vinyl , and that s how I learned to mix beat on beat...but when we heard the firsts dragonfly , juno reaktor , or other x-dream , we definitly changed our tastes for this music!!!but it took a while to make music , even if I wanted a lot because I am a piano player since I am a kid , so of course I wanted , but like many people , I guess , the "money" problem stopped me , because in that time , to make good quality music costed a lot of money...but later I met my two partners , steve eli and xavier de galloy , they were house producers and were very interested to try to make something different , they had a studio , good one by the way , and that s how the first talamasca track has been borned...about four years ago... 3) Do you project to release a new album after your last " Beyond The Mask " one ? When would it be released ? Of course i will !!! But before there are a few tracks that will be released soon...i have three tracks which will be released on moon spirit records , the new french label , and one of those tracks is one I made with manitu , a french dj who plays a lot in France...also , Mael and me made a track with Ofer Dikovsky , released on the new 3D vision compilation , and very easy to find because we called it :Method of Oria...then , on the next 3D vision (end of november...) , will be released the track from infected mushrooms : Psycho , that we remixed with mael , ( yes , a new remix...) , but also a track that I just finished with Spacecat when i was last time in israel , one new talamasca , and a track that I will make with Jaia next week...one track will also go for a new japanese label called Arcadia...then , after all this , I will work only about my second album...I already have the concept , but let s talk about it when it will be ready , not before... 4) Your style has completely changed from the old Talamasca stuff (like " Believe ", " Talafrica ", " Polynesian Lyon ", " Jungle Storm " and "Tribal Journey ") to the current one … What made you completely change of style to a more dark one ? Do you think you'll make other Tracks in your old style ? Very easy to understand...as I told you before , Talamasca from the beginning was my idea and my project , but we were three in the studio...my friends were making more house and dance music when i wasn t in the studio , so you can easily understand that in a band , everybody got his own taste , so we tried to find the balance , like this , everybody liked the track...but even if my style became a bit darker since my friends decided to stop music , I am still the melodic guy of the 3D vision team...so i don t know exactly what i will make in the future , but i know that one thing will not change so much : we want to keep the line , with christof and mael in 3D vision , of what we are now used to call : Dance floor music...our music is made first of all to be danced in parties...we play all the tracks that we release before to release them , and we do it only if it works...but if you think that my style completely changed , then I am happy because that was the goal !!! 5) Your old Tracks often used few tribal sounds, its names, as above, let us think to Africa … and your last " Telepathic Atmospheres " Track is also a little african oriented, with its tribal drums & voices … seems you travelled in Africa for a long time & love it and its sounds … is it a good intuition ? Yes and no...it was not africa but the polynesian lion and talafrica were made after i came back from really great holidays in french polynesia , in Tahiti...it was a very cool summer in one of the most beautiful places in the world , so of course all my inspiration in that time came from there...but I still love tribal and drums , I am always looking for new samples...and I will make a lot more... 6) Which of your own tracks do you like the best ? This question is very hard...so , like everybody I will say that I have more than one...for different reasons...Tribal journey was the first made , so I love it for this reason , it is very "sentimental..." , then , the hunted becomes the hunter is the first that I have made with Mael , who is also my best friend from school , and it was also the first made in my own home studio , and to tell you the truth , in the beginning , we were not sure about it ...but then we played it in parties...telepathic atmosphere is the first that I made alone , so of course it is in the list !!!but if we are talking only about the music , then , my favorite one is not released yet...but check out in the parties , you might ear it if a friend of mine is playing in your place...it is very easy to recognize , a guy is shouting : "COME ON !!!" just before the kick goes...this is for now my favorite...until the next I will make , like everytime... 7) Your favourite psychedelic Groups & Albums ? The ones that still make music that make the people shout !!! I mean : Gms , Absolum , Oforia , Spacecat , Nomad , Deedrah...but this is about my dj taste...I need this kind of music in my set ! But the ones that impressed me the most are always the 3 kings...Juno reactor , X dream and of course Simon posford...their production is amazing and this is the music I am listening home... 8) Where does your inspiration come from when building a Track ? I just try to think about this track played in a big huge party , or a stadium !!! I try to think about the best parties where I have been and to think about what would have happened if i would have played this track there...the goal , of course , is to make the dancefloor shout !!!! 9) What kind of equipment do you use to make your Tracks ? Less that what you can imagine...I use a digital mixer , Yamaha , a nordlead , a pulse , one alfa juno , and the most important machine , the one that I would not be able anymore to make music without it : my computer...I am very good friend with the guys of Infected Mushrooms , and when I made first time a track with Erez , I discoverd the new world of audio...music only from the computer...I didn t believe in it in the beginning , and when erez showed me some stuf , i get addicted !!! now , I almost don t use my synths anymore , just some very very good programs like for exemple : Reaktor , which is really amazing ! The hunted becomes the hunter , telepathic atmospheres and You are the machine are made only through the computer...this is the future...and the good thing in this is that now , everybody will be able to make music , it will not cost fortunes anymore because of this new technology , so you know what you have to do now... 10) Future projects ? Play , play , play...I have a few gigs to give in different countries for the next few weeks , beetween them , I am closed in my studio everyday making music...but don t worry , this is the best I can do. 11) Is it valuable to work with guys such as Christof, Mael, Matt ?... did you learn a lot from them? Christof is definitely the one who learned me the most...now , we work together in 3d vision for more than three years , we are friends and neighbours , so if I have a problem in my studio , he is definitely the one I will phone...and if I did so many collaborations ( with christof , mael , oforia , infected mushrooms , children of the doc , spacecat , xerox , manitu , matt , adulla...) it is of course because i had a good feeling with all the artists and because we like the music of each other , but the goal is to learn...and it works , even with friends like matt or manitu , who are still learning how it works , they have other ideas , and it gives you new inspiration , you try more to make something different...and with the ones that I consider as my "teachers" , it is amazing the lot of different ways to work , and you take a little bit from here and from there...and finally you always learn something you didn t know...this is the best way !! 12) Is there another artist you'd like to work with ? A lot !! Now I just met Ollie wisdom in australia , we spoke about it...I met also Logic Bomb in Israel and I wish we will work one day together , I like very much what they do , it is a little bit softer that what I am used but I love it and it is still working very good in parties !! I think also that next time Anti will come to play in paris , if I am going to be there in the same time , I don t let him go back without we make something in my studio...and the list is too long to tell it because I am very open , I love to work with different people everytime , so I guess there will be a lot more... 13) What kind of stuff do you play as DJ in parties ? This one will be very short : Full power !!!!! 14) When & where was your best party ? And your worst one ? The best was definitely in japan , for this label i told you about , arcadia...they made a party in an indoor luna park , with roller coasters above the dance floor !!! 3000 crazy japanese were there and I have never seen people enjoy as much as this !!! but I remember also my first party in the desert of Sinai , in israel , and believe me , when you play for hundreds people in the middle of nowhere , with such a beautiful view , you remember it !! now , about the worst one , it is very difficult to say...there are so many!!!!but I will tell that all the free parties we have in france , with a lot of hard core music , no security and 5000 hooligans (arsim , racailles...)this is pretty scary...but I never go in this kind of parties anymore , so I let this problem for the ones who go there... 15) As you're in psytrance for many years, what do you think about the evolution of psytrance in the last years on a musical point of view ? Have things gotten better/worse according to you ? I can t judge anything...but my opinion is that most of the labels and bands that were the big names before , because they made music for parties were very successfull , but in the last two years , I traveled a lot to play and i met a lot of people...all of them are thinking the same : trance has become much more minimalistic , techno and dark...and it has lost its happiness...and most of the bands that everybody loved before are now playing a totally different kind of music , and when promoters book them to play the staf they know , they are surprised by the change !!! and the party people also , and you could feel it on the trance cd market...people were tired to spend a lot of money for cd s that they love only one track on it...but the situation now is getting better , parties everywhere are becoming nice again with new people , new energy , and new bands...it is growing...it took more than 20 years for the rock n roll to be absolutely accepted...techno is now everywhere , advertising , video games , movies...I considerate trance as the "musical" techno , intelligent one , and i remember very well that when i was kid , i hated this stupid boom boom !! and techno or house was for me the opposite of music , and I am now in the middle of it !! just because one day , I paid attention to the music , I tried to understand it , to finally fall in love with it...and I was really against it , so if it happened to me...it can happen to everybody...just in the middle of a family dinner , you put a nice track , cool one , and you will see everybody complain , and after 5 minutes , everybody is moving the head on the kick !!!! this is what makes me so optimistic for the following , so now it s your turn !!!! 16) Thanks a lot for such a long interview & good luck for your next stuff ;-) I enjoyed a lot to answer...i just hope my english is understandable... bye!
  20. Made on 02-19-02 with DJ Lestat by Danger 1) Your second album is just released. What was Your aim with Musica Divinorum ? ah!ah!ah!good question.....i didn t have really any aim exactly...my first album "beyond the mask"was more a collaboration album made with friends..."musica divinorum" is my own album , so just for this , it is already different...the quality of the production also is , i think , one level higher than the first album (fortunatly...)and i wanted to make an album which was full-on of course , because this is my style , and i won't change my taste , but also melodic because i think that trance for the last two years had become too minimalistic and techno.....when i decided to make trance , it was too make music , and not to make noise....i am a piano player since i am a child , and i need these melodies....even if for some people would hate them , but i don t care that much , because first , what some people call commercial melodies , some other people will call it psychedelic ones....so it s just a matter of taste....but second , and more important , if this didn't work everywhere i played in parties for the last 4 years , i would have changed!!!!!i make music for parties , and i play most of the time from 4 to 8 in the morning....and people book me in parties to play this kind of music...and this is the kind i love....so this is the kind i make...... 2) Simple question: why Spiral Trax ? simple answer : why not?.....i guess you need a bit more explanations but there is not that much...maybe the question was:why not on 3d vision?eheheh...first because i wanted to proove myself that i was abble to release an album somewhere else than the label which i am part of...so i sent a copy of it to my 3 favorite labels...Spiral trax was one of them....then i met Anti in israel , we had good time together , and i was very proud that he said me he loved the album...because i was not a dj 10 years ago , that i was already dancing on Anti's set!!!and as a part of 3d vision , i think that we have to collaborate between labels...we release some logic bomb tracks on 3d vision , TIP got absolum , Spiral traxx got me , i make some tracks for TIP , GMS make for us , mael make for shaffel , skazi make for us , I will make for spirit zone...etc...you see , we have to collaborate together , we are all friends , we play together all around...but i am already working on my 3rd album for 3D vision.....every two albums for 3D , and between them for my friends..... 3) You've mentioned in the last interview Olli Wisdom and Jaia as Your next collaborations, but no tracks released. Have you had any success with this ? this is another story....i still want and i guess they want too!!about ollie , there is a good explanation , he lives in the middle of the jungle in australia , 16000 km from my home in paris....so , i've been there once , but i couldn t stay there because i had too play the day after in melbourn...but i guess i will go back one of these days...we play for the same promoters in japan , and everytime we meet we speak about it....so it s a matter of time.....with Jaia , it s a different story because he lives in france , but we still have 800 km distance between us...and he is working during the week , but we are travelling during the weekend , so it's quite hard to meet each other....but i did some collaborations since the last interview....with Oforia (sonic kinkies on "download"-3d vision) or gms (mutation-"program change"-3d vision) and Spacecat , (one track on program change , and another one for the next compilation of the gms's label)... 4) What did You used to make the album? hardware, software... ok , i know what you want me too say.........that i made it only with a computer.......well , it is quite true...if you forget the mixer and the speakers...(which is very very important to have a good sound!)i have a nordlead also , but i didn t use it that much on the album...i think just for the racer and psychedelic knights...i have a juno , and a pulse (waldorf)but i didn t use them....no , i use mostly programs...Cubase , sound forge , and reaktor , and it s enough for me to work and to make a track like "come on!"i use of course a lot of samples cds...but most of my sequencies are made with "reaktor" , it's a program who have a full studio in it , with a lot of virtual synths , effects , and combine with cubase , you have really enough to make good quality music.......money is not a problem anymore!!!before it was so expensive to have a studio!but now , you need a computer......so just make , and send us demos!!!!(lol) 5) Your third album is in progress, what kind of direction you want to give ? yes , it's in progress......but slowly....i want musica divinorum to live long!!i have the concept....the 12 astrologic signs , i have already Gemini , capricorn , and aquarius...so you have the direction....the fire signs will be full on , the water signs will be cooler than usually , the air signs are more atmospheric and the earth signs more minimalistic.....but you will have to wait until you ear my live act to ear them.... 6) There's a rumour that You ll make a track with voices of your child, is it true ? my son is only three months old....i was thinking that i could make a lot!!!one with the first scream , one of the first laugh......etc...but i think i will wait more than 1 year , and then i will have all the samples , and only then i will make a track , called evolution for example.... 7) You are very good friend of Nomad. Do You plan to make a Talamasca Vs Nomad album or something like that, or other projects than Talamasca ? i am more than good friend with him because he is now the godfather of my kid!!we were in school together...so you understand why we made a lot already together...we made the "hit" of my first album together , the hunted becomes the hunter , and we did the "program change" compilation together....but now , i have my studio home , he got his own , and we don t have that much time...we play a lot , and when we are in france , we work a lot on our respective projects , so when we meet , we prefer watching a good movie than close ourself in the studio for hours and hours.......but in the future , of course , we'll make more.....even with christof , 3 of us together we have a project called elixir , we 'll make more....we just don't know when!!! 8) Which other music styles do you like ? home , i am listening ambient.....or pink floyd....or since i have my kid , i put a lot of classical music , and it gives me a lot of ideas!!!!but i have a problem with voices...i don 't like when there is a singer , i don t like someone to tell me what to think or how to listen his music...that s why i felt in love with the electronic music...no singer.... 9) What are you doing in life except working ? euh....it is a very very hard question....first , we have to think about if i am really working...i am lucky to be abble to do what i love...so it is not really working...my studio is home....so i go in it whenever i feel....i have my wife who give me a lot of inspiration , my son who really give me a lot of happyness....i am happy in life and this take all my time!!! 10) Some tips for the beginners who do DJ or make music ? for the djs:make music!!!!!if you think like a promoter , why should they bring a dj that nobody know?even if you are the best mixer in the world , people will not come if they don t know who you are...( i speak only for the trance scene!!!)so if you don t have behind your dj name a label and a project name , there is no interest for a promoter to bring you....about beginners in the music production world , just remember that every different people have different taste , so not everybody can love what you do...so just don t care about what people say about your melodies or the way you build the track....make it your own taste , BUT , it must sound good!!!!!every sound must be clear in the final mix...the production is more important than the taste...this is what i think.... 11) Thanks Lestat for doing the interview and we hope to hear more stuff from you soon and keep the people shouting!!!
  21. Made on 10-23-00 with Matthias Rumoeller by Children 1) How and when did you start to make Goa ? In winter 1992/1993 we went to Goa/India just to make holydays because a friend of us had a house down there. At that time we didn´t know `bout Trance parties. But one evening somebody invited us to come to a party at Bamboo Forest, and when we arrived we couldn´t believe what we saw and heared. Normally we hated electronic music but after one hour we found ourselves dancing in the middle of the crowd. All these positive vibes made us feel like we found our home. From then on we went to every Trance Party but we continued to make Heavy Metal music until 1995. That year we finally bought our first Atari-computer and a few synths. We started to copy the tracks which we heared on the Goa-parties, but they sounded different because we kept our rock influences. Antaro from Spirit Zone liked our tracks, so we released our first 12" on his label in 1996. For a first release it was very successful and so Antaro released our first album "Drosophila" in february 1997. 2) Does the S.U.N in " SUN Project " has another sense than only " sun " ? The "." between the letters make us think that's an abbreviation . It means S.tupid U.nrespectable N.oise... ..just kidding.., its just a nice and positive name..who doesn´t like the sun? 3) Do you project to release a new album after your last " Paranormal " one ? When would it be released ? Sure we will produce more albums..as long as somebody buys them!? We release one new album every year. This means the next one will come in springtime 2001. But in between two special albums will come out: A "Rock-Trance"-album on our label Novatekk/Sector where all tracks will be with guitar, it will be a compilation from all our four albums plus some unreleased material. It will be a double CD which also contains one or two videos on a CD-Rom part. And then Spirit Zone is planning to bring out an album with remixes of our older stuff. These remixes will be produced by ourselves and by big Spirit Zone Acts like Space Tribe, Electric Universe, Etnica, Shiva Shandra.. 4) Which of your own tracks do you like the best ? We just don´t have a favourite one, it depends on our momentally mood and power. We like all our tracks, of course and when we have a concert we specially enjoy to play the guitar tracks because the audience goes crazy, then. 5) Your favourite psychedelic Groups & Albums ? To be honnest..we don´t know so many other artists and their tracks except the very famous ones. If we hear a track that we like we don´t ask who has made it. But to tell you at least a few names: We for example like Atmos, Element, Delta. 6) It seems you often use a guitar sounds to build your Tracks . were you playing in a rock band before ? All of us have been playing in different Heavy Metal, Grunge and Rock bands before, and it seems it´s good to make music together with people that have got the same roots. McCoy was always a drummer (like now), Marco was playing bass guitar (now it´s just a synth bass) and Matthias was the guitarist (like in our concerts, now). 7) Where does your inspiration come from when building a Track ? To build a track means a lot of trying out new sequences, new samples, new rythms and weird sounds. Sometimes you don´t have any ideas until you hear a special noise and this noise inspires you to something which you didn´t think about, before. 8) What kind of equipment do you exactly use to make your Tracks ? Each one of us has got his own studio where he can work independently if he wants. We´re using PC and Apple coputers, Logic Audio and Steinberg Cubase programs. We still use more Midi than Audio. Each one of us got EMU Samplers and synths like Waldorf Microwave 1, Nord lead, Acess Virus, Roland MKS80, Oberheim Matrix and some old analog synths. We have Tascam mixing desks and many effect machines but it would be too much for this interview to name it all. Since 1995 we have invested a hell of a money in our equipment. 9) Future projects ? McCoy: I started a side act called "C.O.N.Sequencer" feat. "Milk". Our first album will be released in the end of october 2000. The label is Insolation/Zoomshot. Milk is a DJ and friend of mine. Together we make really nice funky stuff- Listen to it! Marco and me also make one 12" with Ouija, two tracks we did together with DJ Zippy an DJ Kethama. This will be released on Novatekk hopefully `til end of this year. Also Marco is working on his Solo-album called Marco Menichelli which will be released 2001. 10) Is there another artist you'd like to work with ? S.U.N. Project will stay only be the three of us. But the album of our side project Ouija was made with friends/DJ´s like Axel, DJ Sangeet, Boris from Electric Universe, DJ Mahasuka and so on. Also the album we already talked about with S.U.N. Project tracks remixed by different Spirit Zone artists could be very interesting. 11) Do you play DJ sets ? If so, what kind of stuff do you play as DJ in parties ? None of us was ever a DJ ! We are Musicians and also producers and when we have a gig we play a liveset and not a DJ-set. 12) When & where was your best party ? And your worst one ? Probably you mean parties where we had a live performance?..We now have played more than 100 gigs since 1996 and there have been many beautyful ones like the Solipse Party in Hungary 1999, which we will never forget. Of course we also made bad experiences like when 10 policemen came up our stage and forced us to stop playing. 13) As you're on the scene since at least 3 years (your first album, Drosophila, being released in 1997), what do you think about the evolution of psytrance in the last years on a musical point of view ? Have things gotten better/worse according to you ? Since we started to listen to psychedelic trance the scene has grown very much, it´s commercialized a lot like every music scene. On one side it´s not such a family-like feeling anymore like it was 6 years ago when the most parties were much smaller than now, on the other side we are a part of the business and we also want to earn money with our music so we must be happy when more and more people are listening to it. Since a few years the psychedelic trance is developing to a more progressive and minimal direction which is OK because we think it´s just getting boring to listen to the same type of melodic traditional tracks for the rest of our lives. There must be a change, something new sometimes. If you listen to all our albums you will agree that our music has changed like the whole scene, only the guitar tracks you will always find because specially that´s what S.U.N. Project is about. Even if there are people that are tired of guitar in trance : We don´t give a shit, we love it and the most of the trancers love it! We are still rockers! 14) Why do you wear extra-terrestrial masks during your Lives ? We wear the alien-masks because they look much better than our real faces. Unfortunately its so hot underneath that we have to put them off after the first track of our live show. 15) Do you believe in an extra-terrestrial form of life ? The universe is so unbelievable big that it would be stupid to say "there´s only live on planet earth". For shure there will be more liveforms out there- It´s only a shame that they are too far away. So we try to be our own aliens! 16) Thanks a lot for & good luck for your next stuff ;-)
  22. Made on 04-05-00 by Qwato 1) How and when did you start making Psy-trance? In 1994 some friends of us introduced us to this by then quite new style in the trance scene. We knew from the first listen that this was something for our ambition in music. The warmth and happy vibes that soured through this kind of music by then was simply overwhelming. 2) Before you talked about releasing an album. Are you going to do that? Well if you mean a Subcouds release we don´t really know yet. We have just picked up working together again after our vitalising escapades in different parts of the world. So who knows what lies around the next corner? An album? Maybe. Anyway there's going to be some kind of Subcouds release this year, we're pretty sure! 3) Which one of your own tracks do you like best ? This is a really tricky question, but we have to say that our first release(Greeenflow released on phantasm 1995) is very special for us since it's our first 12" and it was quite popular for a time. 4) Your favourite Goa Group, Album, Top 5 Goa Tracks ? Subcouds..oopps... sorry, no honestly we have to say that we think the things that X-dream and Simon Posford are doing deserves some special attention. Best Tracks : X-Dream : Radio Hallucinogen : L.S.D Transwave : Land Of Freedom Jörg On Mushroom : The Messenger 5) How do you get your inspiration? From everywhere: Travelling, dreams and all the things we encounter in the sphere of our daily lifes. Quite a boring answer but true... 6) What is the first thing you do on a track? And after that, what is the next step? Well... originally we always started with the groove and the bassline and this is still more or less the way we work today as well, athough these days we tend to focus more and more on the whole sound of a track instead of just analysing the separate sounds. 7) Future projects ? As mentioned before we have just started up again, and we are aiming on producing a bit more progressive trance compared to our previous work. 8) Are there any artists you haven't worked with that you would like to work with? We guess it would be amazing to watch a guy like Simon Posford in action, but we don´t really look for people to collaborate with as we hardly have time for our own projects. 9) What do you think about the future of Psychedelic Trance music ? Well in general the scene is moving closer to the traditional techno music. Less arabic scales and more focus on the percussion. This is probably the future coarse as well even though we might try to change all that! 10) What is the worst mistake you have done when you played at a party? During a pre-recorded passage of our live set at Docklands (Stockholm) last year we accidently stopped the DAT-tape by mistake. Twice! Veeeeeery silent... :| *oups!* 11) ;-) Well Thanks a lot !
