  1. Kinda like how Juno Reactor did things... One main lead and tons of contributors... Right?
  2. It says £15 + booking fee on the flyer... Not too bad for such a line-up I think...
  3. I kinda like their style... However, I never really got the fuzz regarding Beckers - Switch... /DP
  4. Sold! Send me a PM if you're serious! /DP
  5. *Bump!* Come on you punks... I know there are several more outhere!
  6. [Thread moved to general] Oh, and I'm too drunk to type any coherent answer right now - so I'm just gonna leave it for now... /DP
  7. V/A – Over Identity Hi-res cover: front + back Artist: Various Title: Over Identity Format: CD (jewel case) Label: Xilium Records (Macedonia) Cat. #: XUMCD01 Distribution: Wirikuta Date: December 2005 Track listing: 01. 09’05” Heggmatech – Ritual Dance 02. 08’11” Penta - Tesaract 03. 07’06” N3xu5 – Afegan Test 04. 06’54” Seroxat – Chain Reaction 05. 07’31” Xenomorph - Lycastrophy 06. 07’01” Encephalopaticys vs. Atriohm – Crazy Fantasy 07. 07’39” Darkpsy – G5 08. 08’02” Mystict Instinct - Xilium 09. 07’45” Centurion – Sensoric Extension .m3u-playlist: http://tinyurl.com/9zh6y (all tracks!) Review: Vicious night trance… Xilium Records is a new label from Macedonia – functioning as a sub label to Glowing Flame Records… After having been announced for quite a while, the debut release is finally here, and as the track list reveals we’re in darkpsy territory… The tracks were compiled by Mystict Instinct, so let’s find out what’s rocking his boat… Let me take you thru the tracks… #01: Heggmatech – Ritual Dance “Rituals started in glorious, mysterious darkness music… This is ritual music. Making the dancing bom bom… Ritual! And this is what we call ritual dancing!” Heggmatech is a new duo from Norway with members Jostein Norås & Glen Berg… The track starts with a very home-made, Engrish sample… But it’s actually pretty neat! The track itself is also ace! This is darkish, acid-ridden, pumping night-time trance… Very atmospheric and very effective… I can’t really put my finger on it, but somehow this just works really well… A great way to open the compilation! #02: Penta - Tesaract Next up is Russian-born, American-based producer Nikita Tselovalnikov – which is such a star within the genre, that he shouldn’t need further introduction… I really like his elusive, action-packed, funny take on psytrance… This time however, the humour has been put aside for a grimmer, darkish effect… Spooky, horrendous night trance – with the ever present Penta touch… What I really like about Penta, is that there’s never a dull moment – and this track is a good example of just that… It keeps evolving, keeps changing direction and keeps impressing! A solid track! #03: N3xu5 – Afegan Test “Do you like to watch?” After the release of his debut album, Portuguese producer Luis Miguel Lopes hasn’t been as active as he used to be – and that’s a shame coz I really like his acid-ridden, South-African-like style of night trance… Anyway, I heard a couple of new tracks by him lately which were pretty nice… This one however, seem to lack a little ‘bite’… Don’t get me wrong; there are indeed interesting moments here, but also a couple of boring, uninteresting passages… So, this is a decent track… #04: Seroxat – Chain Reaction Despite Israeli producer Ofer Maoz’ impressive roster of releases, it’s an artist I don’t know that well… But the tracks I do know, have all been pretty fucking good… Pure dancefloor napalm! This one is more evil, that dancefloor friendly though… Don’t get me wrong, you can still dance to this, but it will work just as well as a trip tool… Yeah, what we get here is druggy, spiralling, acid-rich night-trance – with an influx of naïve, demented melodies… I’m not sure how much I liked those demented, deranged melodies though – so it’s a good thing they don’t take up too much time in the track… All in all, this makes for a pretty nice tune… #05: Xenomorph – Lycastrophy Xenomorph – the godfather of dark psytrance never lets me down with his trademark, schizoid dark psytrance… Mark Petrick’s debut album Cassandra's Nightmare is a masterpiece within the genre and Qlippoth is pretty damn good too… This track is just as you’d expect… A stale, deeply atmospheric intro with samples from some horror-movie… Slowly the dark, gritty, industrial-sounding psytrance creeps in, and soon the track is in full FX… Definitely the darkest track thus far, but when it’s done this good I’m not complaining… Another stand-out track! #06: Encephalopaticys vs. Atriohm – Crazy Fantasy “We spend our whole life trying to stop death. Eating, inventing, loving, praying, fighting, killing. But what do we really know about death? Just that nobody comes back. Then there comes a point - a moment! … You’re not afraid of the dark are you?” Battle of the Macedonians! This track was made by Vasko Velickovski, Leonid Golcev and Aleksandar Golcev in cahoots and between them they’ve made some pretty sweet tracks…And pretty sweet is an understatement when talking about this track – this is fucking awesome! Rigid, flaring, atmospheric nervosa-trance – with real punch! Brilliant! #07: Darkpsy – G5 Portuguese producer Jonathan Molinari really impressed me with his track on the Trishula compilation Mushy Mystery released earlier in 2005… That was dark and vibrant! And yeah, this is is pretty damn vibrant too… Kept within a darkpsy framework (well, duh!) this is some pretty effective stuff… Fast-paced, focussed and groovy night-trance… It’s pretty good without being revolutionary… #08: Mystict Instinct – Xilium “After the moon fell from the sky, the earth could no longer sustain a species. Some managed to stay above, the rest of us escaped underground…” Marco Daravelski & Bojan Markovic are Glowing Flame execs and they also compiled this CD…I really liked Marco’s track on Peak Records’ Hocus Peakus compilation released earlier in 2005… Anyway, this track is also pulled from the deep underground… Riddled with spooky, eerie elements – and with a hypnotizing melodic lead to lure the dancers into trance… Sadly I feel there’s something missing here – something to elevate this track a little higher… It’s not that it’s bad, it’s just not as impressive as some of the other tracks here… #09: Centurion – Sensoric Extension “I don't understand it. No equipment? No sign of another team? Well, that tunnel didn't dig itself!” Centurion is actually an alias of Mark Petrick/Xenomorph… I’m guessing he’s using this new alias because of the deviant nature of this music… That’s right – this is alien music! Deep, dark and experimental… Groovy, yet haunting! Kinda like regular Xenomorph – only different! A very interesting, thrilling track – and a fine way to end this compilation! I’m impressed! Although being a debut release, this is one of the better compilations of night trance I’ve heard in 2005… There are several really good tracks here, and more importantly there are no bad tracks… Obviously there are a couple of tracks that I don’t really agree with, but that comes down to specific taste really… The ratio of stand-out tracks is indeed impressive! The cover art by Joe is both subtle and very well-fitting to the music in all its dark glory… All in all this is indeed an impressive debut – well done Xilium! Recommended to fans of darkish, pounding, gritty night trance – and fans of psytrance in general might wanna check this one out too… Enjoy! Favourites: 1(!), 2, 5(!), 6(!!), 7, 9(!) 8. Correct link for the second Electrypnose track is: http://undergroundcore.com/www/VA_-_Lost_I...ed_Version).mp3
  9. Found this on Isratrance: http://forum.isratrance.com/viewtopic.php/.../79312/forum/41 (Psynews automatically shortens links, so you can't really see the artists names here... So either do the mouse-over thing or visit the Isratrance thread... I assure you, it's some rather big names giving away free music... ) It's free.. It's legal... It's a goodbye to Zolod! /DP
  10. You're in for a treat! You can leave your impression in the review thread if you want...
  11. Just make a top 5 of albums you have heard...
  12. I'm a sucker for sub-forums!
  13. 15 so far... Cool! And we know there are more out there lurking - but I'm not gonna add links unless people actually post in this thread...
  14. Brilliant mate! Prepare to get completely addicted to Discogs... It's like a drug!
  15. You have to go to the actual page of the release... Like http://www.discogs.com/release/601652 On your top right, you should see two options in the form of links: Add release to collection and add to wantlist...
  16. Strange... You are logged in of course? What happens when you press the "add release to collection" link? /DP
  17. Åke Stormbringer has often mentioned those varannan sessions... And I always envy you guys for having such cool girlfriends... I mean, I've had girlfriends heavily into music, but our listening sessions were not as organized as yours... It sounds very cool! As I understand it, Åke and Maria also has an extended version of varannan, where they listen to non-hardcore full albums from start to end... Cool! /DP
  18. Yes! We give you five minutes tops after Vince has finished!
  19. Seeing as more and more Psynewsers are establishing Discogs accounts, I thought it could be fun to gather all our accounts in one topic... Just post a link to your collection along with your Psynews username, and I'll edit this original topic when the links starts pouring in... I'll go first... -------------------------------------- Alphabetized: _kolibri_ - http://www.discogs.com/user/_kolibri_ Abasio - http://www.discogs.com/user/Abasio Abeluze - http://www.discogs.com/user/Abeluze Agneton - http://www.discogs.com/user/Agneton Alpha - http://www.discogs.com/user/alpha84 Anoebis - http://www.discogs.com/user/anoebis Antic - http://www.discogs.com/user/antic Astro Cortex - http://www.discogs.com/user/Robi_Flanell Basilisk - http://www.discogs.com/user/Ekto-Basilisk Blaze - http://www.discogs.com/user/AK__47 Brandon - http://www.discogs.com/user/Optimystic Cinos - http://www.discogs.com/user/Cinos Dajek - http://www.discogs.com/user/dajek DeathPosture - http://www.discogs.com/user/DeathPosture Delars - http://www.discogs.com/user/bolisaf Devious - http://www.discogs.com/user/psyshaman DJ Damon - http://www.discogs.com/user/djdamon DJ Zen - http://www.discogs.com/user/zzzeeennn Draeke - http://www.discogs.com/user/draeke Drosphilia - http://www.discogs.com/user/Drosophila Echo Void - http://www.discogs.com/user/echovoid El Brujo - http://www.discogs.com/user/kodomo Endah - http://www.discogs.com/user/endah Fosku - http://www.discogs.com/user/fosku Freaky Dreamer - http://www.discogs.com/user/ganesha303 Frontier Psychiatrist - http://www.discogs.com/user/PavelZagalsky Goa-Head - http://www.discogs.com/user/Josephschembri Gurutrance - http://www.discogs.com/user/gurutrance HappyHorse - http://www.discogs.com/user/inada InFecTeD_gOa - http://www.discogs.com/user/InFecTeD_gOa Infra - http://www.discogs.com/user/Infra303 Insejn - http://www.discogs.com/user/Insa Jeredelic - http://www.discogs.com/user/jeredelic Jikkenteki - http://www.discogs.com/user/Jikkenteki Komix - http://www.discogs.com/user/Gizmex Krankhait - http://www.discogs.com/user/Krankhait Late - http://www.discogs.com/user/Late Lauryn - http://www.discogs.com/user/djlauryn Long Ripps - http://www.discogs.com/user/longripps Louis 8D - http://www.discogs.com/user/Louis8D Lumpi - http://www.discogs.com/user/Teramorph Maxx - http://www.discogs.com/user/romulo Mergi - http://www.discogs.com/user/Mergi Mike A - http://www.discogs.com/user/anenburg Mindphilux - http://www.discogs.com/user/reticulum_flux Mizo - http://www.discogs.com/user/mizo Moni - http://www.discogs.com/user/monis Nemo aka tekk - http://www.discogs.com/user/nemotekk Niobium - http://www.discogs.com/user/niobium Ormion - http://www.discogs.com/user/ormion PKS - http://www.discogs.com/user/PKS PsyGoatDelic - http://www.discogs.com/user/PsyGoatDelic + http://www.discogs.com/user/Goat_Trade_List Psymas - http://www.discogs.com/user/psymas Psypras - http://www.discogs.com/user/psypras Psytimeofmylife - http://www.discogs.com/user/psytimeofmylife Quark - http://www.discogs.com/user/Quark- Ringo - http://www.discogs.com/user/Blindman Senobyte - http://www.discogs.com/user/senobyte Shaft - http://www.discogs.com/user/amplifly Sherlockalien - http://www.discogs.com/user/sherlockalien SkeletonMan - http://www.discogs.com/user/SkeletonMan Snapinho - http://www.discogs.com/user/Snapinho Spacemushi - http://www.discogs.com/user/spacemushi Staffan - http://www.discogs.com/user/trippnissen Stupidfatugly - http://www.discogs.com/user/nrs131 Tatsu - http://www.discogs.com/user/Tatsu Technosomy - http://www.discogs.com/user/technosomy Thebadtrip - http://www.discogs.com/user/thebadtrip The Journey Man - http://www.discogs.com/user/dream-fusion Tox - http://www.discogs.com/user/Tox-cds Trolsk - http://www.discogs.com/user/trolsk Ukiro - http://www.discogs.com/user/ukiro vlnik - http://www.discogs.com/user/vlnik W_Lizzard - http://www.discogs.com/user/w_lizzard X-Scream - http://www.discogs.com/user/X-Scream --------- Total number of Psynews members on Discogs: 75
