The search works as before... But some newer users were lost in the hack, so maybe their names aren't active any more... So they'd have to re-register! Try searching for specific words combined in the text maybe? /DP

We lots a lot of avatars and stuff in the crash... You might want to re-upload your avatar... Which goes for everyone by the way: If you changed your avatar in the last 3-4 months, chances are that it's streched now... So re-upload, and hit F5! /DP

What music are you listening to right now?
DeathPosture replied to Sputum Rotgut's topic in General Psytrance
I know that one... Been listening to it all morning! Now it's time for some music though, and I've just put on the recent Insane Creation album which I hope to review today... ;o) /DP -
Yeah, that was what I meant... I didn't bother to go check Discogs for the correct titles... Anyway, this is indeed interesting... Gone straight to my wantlist... ;o)
-
Well, I might be repeating myself here, but: WELCOME BACK PSYNEWS! Good job Mars... Now let's all make this place flourish again! /DP

Sounds pretty original... Nice! What's with the boring track-titles though?
-
Welcome back people!

Actually Seinfeld's humour is just as much Larry David's humour... Many of the bizarre plot twists in the first 5-6 seasons of Seinfeld, happened to Larry David in real life... The man is a legend - as is Jerry of course... Together they are among the funniest people alive...
-
Yeah. The Larry David/Jerry Seinfeld humour is way better in the original language... I bought the book Seinlanguage in the US earlier this year.. Funny stuff, which is mostly reclycled in I'm Telling You One Last Time special... For newer material, I also recommend the documentary Comedian starring Jerry Seinfeld... I bought it @ DVD Pacific for something like $6... Oh, and yes - CYE is essential! /DP
-
They'll appear in the Danish stores on monday... The ones I've ordered from CD-Wow will only have English subs - which is all I ever use anyway, so it's all good... Did you ever get round to checking out Larry David's CYE? I have all four seasons of DVD now - some of the funniest stuff out there! Very mature humour!
-
Haha... Yeah, Sweden is pretty cool... If it wasn't for the jävla-cover, I might have ordered mine from Sweden to get them earlier... I did get them VERY cheap though using a special CD-Wow trick ordering from the .us-site which is not correctly calibrated when comparing £ and $ exchange rates on certain price groups... I got 'em both for $75.90 including shipping - which saved me more than $20 if I had purchased them thru CD-Wow.com... /DP

Solar Fields – Leaving Home Hi-res cover: front + back Artist: Solar Fields (Sweden) Title: Leaving Home Format: CD (digipack w/16-page colour booklet) Label: Ultimae Records (France) Cat. #: INRE 017 Distribution: Ultimae.com/network Date: Ultimo October 2005 Track listing: 01. 04’41” Home 02. 05’01” Time Slide 03. 08’23” Insum 04. 01’05” Star Fruit 05. 02’44” Magnetosphere (Star Fruit Part 2) 06. 04’08” Stereo Hypnosis (Magnetosphere Part 2) 07. 12’21” Air Song 08. 10’36” Cocoon Moon (Glastonbury Festival 2005 Mix) 09. 15’44” Monogram 10. 07’41” Times Are Good 11. 07’27” Leaving Home .m3u-playlist: http://tinyurl.com/d6mq2 (all tracks!) Review: Sonic chromatographies and equal differences… Magnus Birgersson from Gøteborg, Sweden is one of the living chill-legends... Yeah, pretty much everything he has released has been solid gold – the previous two SL albums + the H.U.V.A. Network album + all the amazing compilation tracks… This guy is the ambient armadillo! And who else than Solar Fields could pull off a stunt like releasing two full length albums simultaneously!? Yeah – this is the ‘regular’ album whereas Extended is more of a concept thing (review to follow shortly!)… As mentioned above, Solar Fields has yet to let me down, and I’ve been looking forward to this album for a long time… Released on my fav’e chill-label Ultimae, this *has* to be good… Let’s find out… Let me take you thru the tracks… #01: Home Every journey starts at home… And so does this one… What we get here, is soothing, mellow ambient which slowly develops into laid-back downtempo… Running water, subtle sitar and digital jungle sounds… This is the tease track – before you know it, we’re right into the next track… #02: Time Slide Again we drift back into mellow oblivion… Free your mind and let your thoughts drift! If it wasn’t for the electro-pads, this would sound very similar to Sigur Rós… Epic, well-crafted ambient with a pompous glory to it… The traditional Indian string instrument veena is heavily used in this track, which creates a very emotional and melancholy feel… Sliding through time! #03: Insum And the vast, pompous soundscapes continues – and damn, what an intro to this track… Something resembling a power drill… More sitars… Digital acid-rips… Static electro-hisses… Oh yeah, you can cut the tension with a knife here… This is highly experimental ambient – soaked in surprising twists and turns… Solar Fields aphex’ed up… Very refreshing and innovative to say the least! Best track so far! #04: Star Fruit #05: Magnetosphere (Star Fruit Part 2) #06: Stereo Hypnosis (Magnetosphere Part 2) As these tracks are obviously connected, I’m gonna review them as a whole… We start with a short skit, which is as much a transition as it is an intro… Heavily cut dubby beats of industrial proportions… Kinda scary really! Soon enough we’re back to floating, oriental, filtered ambient – with a strong emphasis on majestic chords on some kinda warped piano/synth… The last part of the trilogy of tracks sees the focus shift more towards an old-fashioned rhythm section… The percussions are shredded, mutilated – only to be patched back together into a mutant of joyrex’xy dimensions… Again SL is pushing the experiments to new, uncharted lands… Very refreshing in all its gory glory, though maybe a tad too inaccessible for the untrained ear… I like it though! #07: Air Song The experimentation continues, and once again the borders of Ultimae chill are widened… This is another introvert track, which a thick emphasis on heavily cut beats and breakz – giving the track an outerworldly Ant Zen spin… Technoid noises for chilled people! Yeah, the first part of this track reminds me of the sound of Funkstörung or the likes… Halfway through we shift back to more extrovert ambient with deep, dubby beats and murky, melancholy pads in the background. The final run ties up things nicely, with its roomy, panoramic qualities… A very complex, wholehearted track… And if you were to pick one track, to represent the album, this would be it… As massive as it is mature! #08: Cocoon Moon (Glastonbury Festival 2005 Mix) We drift seamlessly into the track which I’m guessing was performed at the 2005 Glastonbury Festival (well, d’uh!)… We start in ambient territory, but soon we cross over into laidback, downbeat land… Like a weird, unfamiliar electro bastard child this track is very hard to place anywhere… It’s repetitive and minimal, yet also evolving and eclectic… As trancy as it gets with Solar Fields – but still kept within a downtempo framework… A true electronica hybrid from start to finish… And maybe even less easily accessible than some of the previous tracks here! Interesting, but it will take me a long time to fully appreciate this I reckon… #09: Monogram This is much more to my liking though… This is another gargantuan mofo of a chill track… Ranging from virtual beatless ambient, over ethno-chill to up-tempo electronica… Everything spread across fifteen minutes and forty four seconds… Complete with mysterious jungle-sounds and the works… A solid SL track! #10: Times Are Good Times are good indeed – and it’s time to leave this earth and explore inner as well as outer space! This is undisputed, unparalleled chill-out… Gone are the grimmest explorations into IDM, and we’re left with soothing, transcending ambient soaked in subtle twirls, frills, thrills, spills and… Guitars! Amazing track! #11: Leaving Home So, we never really left home, eh? Clever! Well, this is another perpetual Solar Fields ambient tune… Beautiful, floating beatless melodic pads which eventually are accompanied by a subtle rhythm section… Yeah – this CD wouldn’t be complete without one of these ‘trademark SL’ tracks which we’ve all come to love so much over the years… A solid tune and the best damn possible way to end this unique album… Unique is the keyword here – this album is totally unique… The level of experimentation is unparalleled and style wise, this crosses back and forth between more genres than I care to count… But it’s still unmistakable Solar Fields down to the very last second… You wanna know what it really is? … It’s talent! The vast composing talents of Mr. Magnus Birgersson – the ambient armadillo! This is by far his most mature album – it’s definitely not as easily accessible as some of his previous instalments, but what is lacks in ‘easy listening’ it makes up for in fertility… This album is ripe of the bone, and will serve the listeners for light years to come… Give the extrovert parts some time to grow on you, and I’m sure they’ll come around… Most of them have for me! As always with Ultimae, everything is top-drawer material here. From the beautiful artwork, down to the very last well-mastered second of audio-bliss… A safe buy for any fan of experimental ambient seasoned with nonconformist musical warps, twists and turns… Audio anarchy! Now stop reading, and go order this album… It’s amazing! … Enjoy! Favourites: 2, 3(!!), 7(!), 9, 10(!!), 11(!) Meller - Rockable Hi-res cover: front + back Artist: Meller (Germany) Title: Rockable Format: CD (jewel case w/12 page booklet) Label: Tribal Vision Records (Czech Republic) Cat. #: TVRCD004 Distribution: Psyshop.com Date: November 2005 Track listing: 01. 06’32” Rockable 02. 07’38” Fatboy 03. 05’46” My Favorite Man 04. 08’34” Phase Nacht 05. 08’17” Aurora 06. 10’28” Rockable (Nasa Remix) 07. 06’43” Fatboy (Rinkadink Remix) 08. 08’44” My Favorite Man (Tegma Remix) 09. 07’30” Phase Nacht (Etnoscope Remix) 10. 08’12” Aurora (Vibrasphere Remix) .m3u-playlist: http://tinyurl.com/d6ntz (all tracks!) Review: Tribalism ^ Tribalism Remixed Tribal Vision Records from the Czech Republic are out with the second album from German duo Meller… Marco Scherer & Dirk Herrmann (DJ Mel) released their debut album Solar Drums on AP Records in 2004… I haven’t heard that one, so I don’t really know what to expect here… But it’s Tribal Vision – a label that has yet to let me down, and the roster of remix artists are nothing short of impressive… So my hopes are up! Let me take you thru the tracks… #01: Rockable [140 BPM] “Welcome to the future!”… The title track breaks open with a cut, futuristic voice sample alongside some spacy percussion and tribal beats… The whole thing is seasoned with a cascade of electro-elements making this a very Schiller-like track… This is perhaps a little too housy but generally pretty harmless… Easily cross-over potent stuff! #02: Fatboy [140 BPM] The guys up the ante on the second track which is easily much more forceful than the first track… Darker and more pounding… With a naïve fluffy melody thrown in just to freak you out! Also the haunting, repetitive voice samples are among the best I’ve heard in a while… Very original! Yeah, there’s definitely some experimentation going on here… I really like it! Sweet, sweet track! #03: My Favorite Man [140 BPM] “Ladies and gentlemen… Ahhhh I know I'm drunk now, I forgot my favourite man sitting over 'dere, his name is...” This is definitely my fav’e track here… Banging, tribal progressive trance – drenched in bubbling electro sounds and dubby beats! Very, very original… Repetitive yes, but so very hypnotizing too – and funny! The vocal experimentation is so very well-executed… And the only flaw this track has is that it’s too damn short! #04: Phase Nacht [140 BPM] This is bleak, progressive night trance… More minimal than the previous tracks, but not minimalistic in the 2001 kinda way… Digital-tribal drums and metallic percussion make out the rhythm section and generally this is a very hypnotic track… The soundtrack to a massive stomp-session! A Blechtrommel style stomp fest! A solid track! #05: Aurora [135 BPM] “I feel something wonderful!” We take it down a notch for the last original Meller track… This is deep, groovy progressive trance… Rich in texture and with a wonderful old-school synth-melody… Very familiar in all its floating glory… Would mix well with Antix or 12 Moons I’m sure… Nice track, but a little too generic for my taste… I mean – that final run is too Balearic innit? #06: Rockable (Nasa Remix) [140 BPM] And here’s the remix by Danish producer NASA .Mikkel Rasmussen (one half of Gnome Effect) has extended the track notably and completely revamped it… Gone are the most commercial pitfalls, and this is leaning more towards progressive morning trance… A hybrid of fluffy melodies and grittier full-on elements… Without the cheese factor! A very mature and constantly evolving track… I dig it! #07: Fatboy (Rinkadink Remix) [140 BPM] Open up and loose yourself! The fatboy is remixed by UK-based South African producer Rinkadink (Werner Van Jaarsveld)… I really liked both his albums, and his unique full-on touch seldom lets me down… And sure enough, this is a tranced-up remix which bears very little resemblance to the original… The sampled has been tweaked even more along with the melodies… Funky, edgy full-on – impressive indeed! I like the original slightly more though… #08: My Favorite Man (Tegma Remix) [140 BPM] And now for the Tegma remix… Swedish producers Omar Chelly & Jason Orfanidis released their second album 002: Avant.Garde on Candyflip earlier this year and for me that’s still one of the freshest hybrid-trance albums of 2005… And I’m happy to say that this remix is very similar to the style of that album – the balanced blend of teKknoid progressive trance and melodic, edgy full-on… Add the sweet, sweet flavour from the original Meller track, and you’ve got something close to a winner! Yeah – this remix compliments the original track nicely – and they are equally good! #09: Phase Nacht (Etnoscope Remix) [140 BPM] And who better to remix the stomp fest tune than Swedish tribal-trancers Etnoscope? Yeah, the drum-trio consisting of Martin Colin, Rasmus Alanne & Ludwig Engelbert has taken the most obvious rhythm section from the original track and added loads more percussion… This is totally funky and instantly dancefloor friendly… Ancient rituals carried out live in front of a dancing crowd! Another sweet, sweet remix to a sweet original… #10: Aurora (Vibrasphere Remix) [132 BPM] And to finish things off we’re treated to a remix by legendary Swedish producer duo Vibrasphere (Rickard Berglöf & Robert Elster)… They’ve taken the somewhat commercial original and fluffed it up even more… But! … They’ve done it with style I reckon, and I simply can’t stay grumpy when listening to this… The beats are a little less well-polished, and the groove-factor has been upped a great deal and I tend to wiggle my toes more to this remix than to the original… A great way to end this remarkable album! Yes – remarkable is about the best damn label I can give this CD… I really, really like it. The original Meller tracks have some really cool vocal experiments going on… Usually I’d quickly grow tired of repeated samples, but for the most part they work really well in this context… The remix concept is pretty damn cool and for the most part, all tracks are good here… There are no bad tracks at all – and it’s not like the remixes outshine the originals… Not at all – they are equally good! I also like the subtle mix of styles here… This ranges from fluffy commercial beach-trance to banging, electro-ridden psytrance… With everything in between! The woody artwork is neat, and again Tribal Vision Records treat us to a fat, informative booklet with info on all participating artist – and the usual handy, easy-rip DJ slip is still there… Quality all the way! I strongly recommend this album to fans of progressive trance with rich tribal-, full-on and groove-crossover potential! It’s pretty fucking solid! Enjoy! Favourites: 2(!), 3(!), 4, 6, 7, 8(!), 9(!)
