Draeke is Italian... He's got some connection to the Etnica-guys, so I'm pretty sure it's genuine... Also, it wouldn't have been voted into Discogs if he didn't know what he was talking about...

Indeed... And I had to pay a good price for it, but it was worth it... Actually I was afraid it would never arrive, as this was from the Ebay seller who tried to rip off a lot of people on Ebay (remember the post on the Ektolist?) ... But it arrived, so now I think I can safely pay for the other rare goods this guy is selling... /DP

Digital Mystery Tour - D.M.T. Express Hi-res cover: front + back Artist: Digital Mystery Tour (France) Title: D.M.T. Express Format: CD (jewel case) Label: Sofa Beats (Denmark) Cat. #: SOFA BEATS CD 01 Distribution: twohandsdistribution.com Date: 12 September 2005 Track listing: 01. 04’56” D.M.T. Express 02. 07’56” Rue Des Roses 03. 06’21” Caraibo Grove 04. 06’24” Voodoo Love 05. 04’45” Hikari Land 06. 05’58” Kia (Toirés Remix) 07. 07’24” Dematerializer 08. 04’03” Pneumatic Bleeps 09. 05’59” Spirit Of The Deep 10. 06’15” Sleeping Among Trees .m3u-playlist: http://tinyurl.com/9fgh8 (all tracks!) Review: Holweck hauling ass… Sofa Beats is a new downbeat sub label to Danish power house label Iboga Records. As the first release comes the second album from Digital Mystery Tour, which is a French downbeat collective spear headed by goa trance legend Stephane Holweck (Total Eclipse, early Juno Reactor, M.O.T.Y., etc). In D.M.T. Holweck is joined by a number of collaborators including Florian Seriot (Toirés, Asia 2001) and other notable chill/trance big-shots… D.M.T.’s self-titled debut album was released on Twisted Records in 2001 to much critical acclaim, so the expectations for this follow-up have been huge… Let’s find out if they were met… Let me take you thru the tracks… #01: D.M.T. Express Holweck starts the journey with a deep, dubby and melodic downbeat piece… Lazy beats, slow pace and distinct floating melodies… The kazoo-like lead took me a while to get used too, but I’ve actually come to like it… It’s the DMT theme! A nice track, though too short… #02: Rue Des Roses We continue the journey down the pink street… Which is apparently located somewhere in Asia – this is ethno-chill reminiscent of Kaya Project or Asura… Beautiful, soothing, virtually beatless ambient focussed on acoustic guitars and long floating, organic pads and harmonic voice-samples… Very dreamy, and very nice! Stunning track! #03: Caraibo Grove AFAIK Club Caraibo is a club somewhere in France… The name comes from an early Berlioz composition… Anyway, this is digital space chill – still maintaining the ethno-tribal feel from the previous tracks… The pace has quickened and in general the rhythm-section here is very lively – sudden burst of energy are always welcome, and I really like the ever-changing nature of this track… Groovy! #04: Voodoo Love This is the first track where Holweck is joined by the rest of the DMT collective… And boy, things are really happening now… The pace is increased a great deal, and this is evidently dance music – albeit chilled dance music… Tribal drums, groovy pads and even saxophone! The Juno Reactor-link is apparent, but I’m not sure how much I like the comic, carnival bits – and the voice samples aren’t exactly helping… But that doesn’t ruin an otherwise interesting, unique track… #05: Hikari Land Holweck is joined by Guillaume Thevenin on guitars on this magnificent track… We’re still in the faster end of the downbeat scale… The ethno-touch is back - complete with chanting, Raja-flute and all kinds of funky FX… I hate to compare this to Shpongle, but that’s about the best description I can come up with… A very nice, uplifting track… #06: Toirés - Kia (Toirés Remix) This is Florian Seriot (Toirés) remixing on of his older tracks from the 1999 album Oued… And oh my, this is an amazing track… Rich, subtle, world-music – perfected by Florian… Reminds me a great deal off Asura and other French chill-masters… The vocal work in this track is simple amazing – shivering even! Beautiful! #07: Dematerializer “Welcome to the […] 2003! It’s hot here! … We’ve got a special download for you that is irresistible. Free trial versions are available at dmt-dot-com-slash-download-slash-kissmeplease-slash-stopit!” Holweck is joined by Michio Baba on this track with the weird robotized voice-sample and the bleak, metallic atmosphere… Cold and kinda static, though with a certain appealing factor… It’s groovy and bubbly, but not really a stand-out track… #08: Pneumatic Bleeps Holweck is on his own again on this aptly named track… Yeah, this is exactly how I’d imagine pneumatic bleeps to sound… This track is built around a dubby foundation, with cut-up beats and breakz sprinkled on top… Add some synth experimentation and you’re pretty much there… Interesting, but not nearly as good as some of the previous tracks… #09: Spirit Of The Deep Holweck is joined by someone named Florian Leniaud on this track… Deep being the operative word here, this is gloomy, deep ambient… Beatless for the most part, and hugely atmospheric… Reminds me of Ishq, though this is slightly darker… Nice track! #10: Sleeping Among Trees Holweck puts this baby to sleep on his own continuing the dark ambient feel from the previous track… Eerie, outer worldly digital and harmonic sounds make sure you don’t get any sleep among those trees… Spooky, but nice! This is definitely a fine album – and it’s nice to see that an acclaimed veteran like Holweck still can compete on such a high level… He sure hasn’t lost his touch, and a solid half of these tracks are really, really good… There are no bad tracks here, but some of them don’t really do that much for me… Journey-wise this album also works pretty well – peaking towards the middle… The artwork is very… Errmm…Orange! And that’s all I have to say about that! Anyway, this is not the best downbeat album I’ve heard this year, but the stand-out tracks are indeed excellent and validate a purchase! This should appeal to most fans of chill, ambient and experimental downbeat… Enjoy! V/A - Parsec Hi-res cover: front + back Artist: Various Title: Parse Format: CD (jewel case) Label: Oxygen Records (Czech Republic) Cat. #: OXYCD002 Distribution: Arabesque Date: 17 October 2005 Track listing: 01. 07’41” Braincell aka. Rastalians - Underwater 02. 07’28” Aphid Moon vs. Protoculture – Systematic Anomally 03. 08’10” Ninja – Show Time 04. 07’24” Hydraglyph – Aural Sex (Rmx) 05. 07’25” Freakulizer & DJ Moodra – Freaky Mood 06. 08’55” Setherian – Angelic Debris 07. 07’55” Sound Field – No Roots 08. 07’55” Lucid SounD – 8.5 Light Minutes 09. 08’54” Spectra - Split .m3u-playlist: http://tinyurl.com/c7w95 (all tracks!) Review: Sunrise music! The parsec is a unit of length used in astronomy. It stands for ‘parallax of one arc second’ and now it’s also the name of a morning trance compilation. Czech label Oxygen Records is out with their 2nd release – compiled by DJ T.V. The first release Satellite got rave reviews, and by the looks of the tracklist on this – the second one – it’s another batch of jolly morning trance… Let’s find out! Let me take you thru the tracks… #01: Braincell aka. Rastalians – Underwater Braincell equals Rastalians minus Jürgen Kassel equals German producer Ralph Knobloch… This guy knows his shit – he’s been in the game for a long time and has countless releases under his belt… This is liquid space trance – uplifting, banging and full of nice little melodies… Not overly exciting to be honest, but good solid music… Would come in handy as a DJ tool for building a nice, uplifting morning set… An ok track! #02: Aphid Moon vs. Protoculture – Systematic Anomally “There are only two possibilities – either no one told me or no one knows!? …Precisely! As you are undoubtedly gathering the anomaly is systemic. Creating fluctuations in even the most simplistic equations!” Now here’s a very interesting collaboration between Jules Hamer from the UK and Nate Raubenheimer from South Africa… Between them, these guys have produced some of the most critically acclaimed morning trance in recent years… And now they are in cahoots! This sounds just as you’d hope – the phat, wall-of-sound signature sound from Aphid Moon mated with the unquestionable, melodic morning appeal from Protoculture… A match made in heaven! This is highly melodic, futuristic full-on – skilfully executed by these sound magicians! Check out the trippy break-down + following climax… Pure bliss! A sweet, sweet track! #03: Ninja – Show Time Woow – it’s been quite a while since I last heard anything from French producer Stéphane Djani aka. Ninja… But this guy still masters the good old, clinic sound from the early millennium… This is crackling, bubbling and stiff psytrance – with both hints of progressive and epic, melodic full-on… A hybrid really – leaning mostly towards the epic, uplifting side… Pretty good, but not a stand-out track… #04: Hydraglyph – Aural Sex (Rmx) This is actually my first encounter with the works of South African producers Mark Ackermann & Andrew Morgan, but I’ve heard good things about them… And rightfully so – this is very nice, colourful morning trance… Full-on in structure, but instantly trippy! Experimental to the core and has a massive acid mid-section…. Reminds me of the Digital Psionics sound – sweet stuff! A very nice full-power, blasting track… #05: Freakulizer & DJ Moodra – Freaky Mood Another collaboration here. This time between Swiss producers Simon Schwendener & Martin Baur… I haven’t heard much of their previous stuff, but I can tell you that this is more uplifting morning trance… Very reminiscent of the previous track and almost as good – almost! It’s gets a little too happy towards the end of the track… But still a nice little track! #06: Setherian – Angelic Debris Setherian is DJ Seth aka Christian Zahn from Sao Paulo, Brazil. His debut album Multiverse was a balanced mix of progressive and full-on – and so is this track… Kinda like Etic really! And yeah, this is pretty good too – I like the soft, yet murky voice samples and the nifty progressive reverb effects… But still I feel something’s lacking here… Can’t quite put my finger on it though… Decent track! #07: Sound Field – No Roots “Some journey never meant to end!” This is Israeli producers Andy Yakovlev (ProSect) & Liron Atia… ProSect really, really impressed me with his progressive masterpiece on the recent Tribal Vision compilation Inner Circle… And sure enough, this track has enough progressive touches to qualify as a true hybrid track… I mean, just check out the impressive percussion section here – mated with big, fat uplifting melodic pads… Nicey nice! Sunrise music for sure! A totally unique track – and totally sweet! #08: Lucid SounD – 8.5 Light Minutes To my knowledge, this is the first track released by Hungarian producer András Benkóczi… This is something close to minimal morning trance! Sounds weird, but so is this track… I mean, sure it has some nice moments but generally I have a hard time connecting to this track… The kick sounds blunt and the melodic pads don’t do much for me… Sorry, I don’t like it – at all! #09: Spectra – Split Paulo Oliveira & Francisco Oliveira from Portugal finishes things off – and if it wasn’t morning before, it’s definitely morning now… This is by far the most uplifting track here… Easily crossing over into fluffy, commercial stuff… To be honest, I don’t really like this flavour of cheesecake – I liked their tracks on Ketuh Records better… They were a little more edgy than this… Well, well – this is actually a very mixed CD – despite the overall framework being uplifting morning trance… We get all kinds of acid-, progressive- and cheese influences here… It doesn’t come as a surprise, that I’m not particularly fond of the most cheesy bits here… And the last two tracks don’t really do anything for me… But I do like edgy, futuristic morning-trance – and thankfully we’re treated to a number of really good tracks too… And the great stuff here really *is* great! The artwork by Mike Comandeer is really excellent and stands out nicely from the crowd. I’m impressed! To conclude, there are a handful of really excellent morning tunes here – but unfortunately also a couple of less-good, cheddar-tracks… But it still beats the crap out of most full-on compilations coming out of Israel these days… So - it’s not the best compilation I’ve heard this year, but it’s not the worst either… Fans of uplifting, joyous morning trance with a pinch of psychedelic will most definitely take well to this… Enjoy! You have absolutely no idea what you're talking about! I spend hundreds of euros every month on music... I currently own more than 2000 CDs, and at least 90% of those I've paid for... You are right on one account though - I am addicted to music! In all genres! I've worked in a record store for 2½ years and I work as a rock DJ in the weekends. My DJ job requires me to own original CDs, so I spend a large amount of money on CDs every single months! This month I've bought more than 30!! Yes - I also get a lot of trance freebies - what's your problem with that? I do that because obviously people think I'm pretty good at what I do... And if you'd actually read some of my reviews, you'd notice that always include constructive critisism! No, I don't like everything - but I'm fortunate enough to like a lot of the stuff I receive... Pretty much all Israeli labels are filtered out - do you catch the draft here? In 2005 I've added well over 250 CDs to my collection... About 70 of those were free... Half were discounted and the other half were full price... Your point being? If this is not jealousy I don't know what is... Please, you know as well as me that you've launched these attacks on me a number of times... Not to mention the whole Damion incident... Le Lotus Blue - defender of moral - which eventually went on to open a tradepost pushing his own promos... *sigh* I don't know what your basic dysfunction is called, but it seems to me you feed on attacking people... Seems to be the case both here on Psynews, on Isratrance and on Psyforum... Why don't you just give it a rest, and mind your own business? Oh please! Practice what you preach dammit! --- Look - when it comes down to it, I think we pretty much agree on musical taste... You don't seem to like mind-numbing full-on and neither do I... So let's just agree on that one, and leave this pointless bickering... We're never gonna agree anyway! Time to move on... Thanks! /DP
