They all release crap. What's different about Ketuh is that they caught my attention in their early days, but now they're going down the same route as all other labels, quantity over quality. Ketuh was a label that had the possiblity to develop their sound into something interesting, but decided to go downhill, I think it's a spot on choice. That's correct! I expect at least 70% of the tracks to be good if I'm to buy anything. I do not listen exclusively to psy-trance and there's tons of good non-psy-trance releases out there so I rather spend my money on something else. I vote with my wallet. If a label releases 70% filler material I won't buy it. If you want to support labels that release compilations with less than 3 good tracks then you are free to waste your money, have fun!

Was/is Israel an important LSD exporter?

I would like the evolution to be less genre focused and more focused on psychedelic music. A mix of serious head music and light hearted extroverted groovy fun music would be lovely. My dream party would be a blend of deep house, techno, psy-trance and the new interpretations of samba, tango and jazz. People gathering to enjoy the borderless psychedelic music experience, rather then the genre specific psychedelic trance experience. ...and let's hope that the "goa trance is the most advance music in the universe" spirit fades away for good.

Well, who is the secret member then?

I guess that what this scene could use is some kind of international psy-trance artists organization. Such an organization could outline the "should be in theres" and "shouldn't be in theres" of a basic contract.

Ketuh Records Suspended Reality compilation caught my attention back in 2004, it had potential to become something interesting in the near future. Since then they've unleashed a flood of compilations upon us. In total there were three Ketuh compilations released last year, the recently mentioned Suspended Reality, Sonic Pantomine and Peacemaker in november. So far, 2005 has brought us A Little Lunacy, In Crypto and the just released Hyper Spatial Chrysalis compilation. That's one compilation every second month! I've totally lost interest in Ketuh because of this. There's always two or three good tunes on their compilations, but that's not enough for a purchase. Quality over quantity could render one excellent compilation every year, instead we are treated with a flood of mediocre releases. MP3 isn't killing the labels, it's their lack of quality control, and quantity over quality philosophy. This, of course, doesn't only apply to Ketuh Records.

The label will then be bankrupt and no more artists will be screwed over and over again, and we could really use a lot of bankrupts in this scene. Rule of thumb: don't make any business with something that isn't a business. There's another angel to this, if the artists talked amongst themselves about good and bad labels then noone would sign to the bad labels and be screwed over and over again. If labels doesn't want to sign this artists because he did the right thing, then these labels are probably planning to screw him again, so he isn't really missing out on anything. In my opinion this problem must be solved by the artists themselves. Here are some basic ideas: - while your on tour, talk to your fellow artists, are they signed to a bad label, spread the word and don't sign to that label. - If the label you're thinking of signing to isn't transparent about its business then you should probably think twice. - If the label you're thinking of signing to can't present you with a proper contract, think twice. - Contact artists that are already signed to the label and ask what their experience of the label is. - Spread the word to us, the consumers, then we can choose not to support the label.

Two interesting tunes: GMS vs. Dado, Dino Psaras & Dimitri Nakov - D.D.D. 'N' R & B Killer Buds - Everything Is A Copy What caught my attention about these two tunes was the old school vibe, scratchy sounds AND contemporary production. This vibe is also present on Misted Muppets excellent debut album. Xerox and Illumination's Temporary Insanity album is another good example, although it's a bit too clean. Vatos Locos' Attack and Release has also managed to represent this vibe in a very good way. The new Suntrip compilation also seems to be what I'm looking for, especially the Ka-Sol track. The recentyly released Killer Buds album does not qualify, it's pure copy and paste neo full on. The new Droidlock album is interesting but it feels too empty. What I'm looking for is old school full on night music with contemporary production.

Not this one.

This entire thread makes no sense at all!!! If you click a board members alias there's an option to ignore posts from that member... Bye, bye, stupid posts!

You have no clue at all. Go back to Shpongle.

You could also try Torakka's Far Out Express, but that might be too much neo full on or something to your ears. Monotonous!!!

!11 Day´s Of Pure Psycadelic Sound In Portugal!
Trolsk replied to Magic_Utopia's topic in International Multi-Day Festivals
There's a section called reviews and then there's a section called parties and travel talk. If someone posts party information in the reviews section they either do not bother or they're killer spammers. It really doesn't matter if it's the first or the last, they deserve boom shankar shiva bitching. Just make sure to watch out for Shiva when he shows up! -

Hey, Magic_Utopia, 1. Posting party information in the reviews section and adding an exclamation point at the beginning of the title to get your post in the top of the section sure is killer neo full-on spam!!!!! 2. Organizing a psy-trance party and not being able to spell psychedelic makes me belive your party will be the killer bomb!!!!! 3. Writing "killer" and "boom shankar" along side really says it all!!!! Killer!!!!! I hope Shiva shows up at your party and stomps it flat, that would be killer!!!!!!!!!!!!! -

Then what's the point of selecting one tune per year, why not just select 10 excellent tunes representative of your taste?
-
I don't really see the meaning of your list. The tunes selected for 2001-2004 are in no way representative of psy-trance during those years. Why limit yourself to only one track per year? Make your friend a MP3 CD full of great music and let him explore the various subgenres of the music. He can then get back to you and tell you what style he likes the most and then you could really point him in the right direction.

Economic theory says: supply and demand. People are willing to pay for old Hallucinogen and Posford is willing to perform.

That must be one of the very best compliments you could get as a digital artist. Good work, btw!

This is a tough one, but I guess it would be something like: Twisted Liquid Sound Design Digital Structures

You can't disable sharing, that's how the bittorrent protocol works. It's a communist protocol. -

You forgot to mention that it's 2-4 minute long low quality samples. I tend to preview at Saiko Sounds or Psyshop, and if it sounds interesting I'll download it, but most of the time it turns out to be yet another boring cut and paste release. I used to buy records based on these short previews, but there were just too many let downs. Fact remains, if the labels provided good quality samples I would not be forced to download.
