Looks like a really nice line-up indeed! Not enough proggy stuff for my taste, but still looking good... But the Soulclipse roster is by far the most impressive I've éver seen. Then again, 7 days on 3 stages is like VooV x 3, so I guess they didn' have to make any choices, they just got'em all

Element: Full Moon A real 3-piece bànd playing progressive trance WITH vocals, unprecedented at that time & still my benchmark for anything that includes voices. SBK: Treibstoff Clean, synthetic, minimal progressive: not too dry, too hard, too boring, just great stuff. Ticon: Aero First album that fuses rasta-vocals with proggy-trance. They also use a lot of slower break-beats here...

Seems like a matter of personal taste to me? I think their tracks like "My number one" or the tracks of Globalize or Streetart are some of the best I've heard in the last 2 years. If you respect labels like Flow & Tribal Vison so much, than you must agree that these ppl will NOT include tracks they don't like themselves just because they will sell well??? Anyway, D-Nox last promo mix even includes a track by Tiga, not my cup of T either, but he's spinning the tracks he wants, so why the hell not?

Seems like more of a compilation than an album, but still a compilation worth chicking out, no? Would have been more suitable after 1 or 2 more years, I agree...

Great collection Basilisk!! Too bad I own about half of it already by now, but the rest of you music-lovers outhere should really look into this...

Mostly I buy them from the one & only Psychedelic Record store we have in Belgium. They're also present with a stand at the bigger parties over here. In summer I buy them on the festivals, usualy directly from the labels or distributors & at pretty sharp prices. Over the last 2 years I traded & bought a LOT second hand, from 2nd hand store but also from ppl through this site or discogs.com... Never had a bad experience yet! Pretty rare for me to use Psyshop since I don't have Visa

I'd go with Aleph Zero, but they only have like 4-soon-to-be-5 releases, so that hardly counts. Anyone here knows Rhythm & Sound or even better Burial Mix: http://www.discogs.com/label/Burial+Mix ? Ingenious minimalistic digital dub... Off topic: please will some label go back to releasing a compilation that consists of a doubble cd with one psy/prog cd & one chill cd? Like Alien Airport or more recently Tantra Trance? For me this really was a golden formula...

Anyone got a reply yet? I sent mail aswell as PM over a week ago...

OK, I'm a nerd: I went through my disocgs & counted 1 by 1: 24 new psy-cd's 28 traded, second hand or free psy-cd's 6 (SIX ) non-psy-cd's adds up to 58 new titles in my collection...

I just received V/A : Quality Relaxtation today. http://www.discogs.com/release/466554 After reading about how his good intentions brought PKS mainly financial probz, I thought I'd do a good deed & bought the cd directly from him. Thnx for the extra stickers BTW, PKS! Gonna check it out this week-end...

I voted 16-20. 2 new thingies/month It should be about that as far as the new releases go. Although the total amount of psy-cd's I bought 2nd hand or traded is probably closer to 50-60 ;-)
-
DAMN, I forgot Vibrasphere's "Lime Structure" too!!! Not a single track on there that's less than great...

Usually, with a V/A, I only mention my personal highlights. But in this case I’ll give a full review, now why would that be J ? 01. Absolut & Greed – The Other Side [132 BPM] We kick off the track list with André Absolute & his long-time partner in crime Greed. Normally I really dig their style but this time it’s a little too restrained for my liking. It’s a decent track but it doesn’t really seem to make a big impression on me. 02. Rai – Let’s Dance [129 BPM] Clubby disco trance, done to perfection. The whole track oozes with optimistic happy sounds, that could to be taken from some 70’s classic. Probably way too fluffy for some, but this is sleazy house music & I like it: catchy clubby shit. The guy really has a style of his own & imo it’s one of Rai’s best efforts so far. Original to say the least… 03. D-Nox & Beckers – Jet Lag Slave [128 BPM] No vocals in here & honestly that’s a relief to me. These guys know how to balance on the thin line between catchy & cheesy. This track has a great, pumping drive like rollercoaster, but never too fast. Cool little sounds seem to pop up along the ride. & when it’s all over, you just want to hop in for another one! Highly addictive. 04. Minilogue – Spam [130 BPM] Another highly original track from the Son Kite-guys. This time is seems like they were looking for inspiration in 80’s New Wave. Their sound is dominated by minimal bleeps & mechanic glitches as if an engine that’s struggling not to breakdown. This one stays as far away from the psytrance/progressive-clichés as possible, without losing any attention. These guys are shaping the future as we speak…amazing! 05. Sonify - Sonifunk [130 BPM] Different track here with raga-toaster vocals, straight from Jamaica. Could easily have been on Ticon’s Aero-album & in my book that a compliment. So: good but, not great. 06. SAN & Sebastian Moore - Inceptor [128 BPM] Another personal highlight here!! I never heard of these artists before but that should definitely change. Did somebody say “epic build-up”? This is what I call “Full-house”! Roaring monster of a track that could be played on a dozen different dance floors & leave everyone breathless. I just love that improved Global Underground-sound... Subtle percussion, well timed breakdowns & an vague melody. Mindblowing track that deserves a huge sound-system. 07. Sonic Cube – Cloud Buster (André Absolut Remix) [128 BPM] Not knowing the original, it’s always hard to judge a RMX. But as usual André Absolut has the “golden touch” The track seems pretty straightforward at first but then nice & friendly soundscapes start morphing underneath the steady beat. 08. Flowjob – Life Extensions [129 BPM] On another compilation this track would be pretty good, but here it fails to distinguish itself. Maybe it lacks some power? Nice proggy beats with cool changes in rhythm & a really deep break, but nothing special. 09. Vibrasphere – Manzanilla (Jaïa Remix) [135 BPM] Saving the best for last? Only a truly great musician could pull this of: remixing a Vibrasphere chill-out track into a dancefloor-bomb. The original (the halftime-chill track from Lime Structure) gave me goose bumps & so does this one. With the first textures you’re floating of into oblivion when a sharp melody pulls you back in. Melodic progressive at it’s very best, with still very clear hints to the emotional guitar from the original. ESSENTIAL TRACK! Bottom line: Most compilations these days bring you 1 or 2 truly fantastic tracks. Street Art brings you at least 4 of that calibre. The tracks by D-Nox & Beckers, Minilogue, SAN & Sebastian Moore & of course the Jaïa RMX are simply amazing. The rest is also enjoyable, but maybe just not as impressive. This is of course a matter of personal taste… It’s never too late for good news & even in 2006 this remains one of the highlights of 2005. A friend of mine said this was the best V/A he had heard since Prooved Vol2 on Plastik Park. I don’t know about that, but it comes pretty damn close As usual the booklet is a piece of art, but we come to expect nothing less by Tribal Vision. Music wise, definitely their best compilation so far. Probably even better than Limelight…

I confess: Before 94 I thought electronic music had little or no content... In 1995-96 (through Aphex Twin & The Orb I discovered techno as genre that I liked. Later stuff by Green Velvet, Dave Clarke & Jeff Mills. Started going out to clubs like Fuse & raves like Kozzmozz & the "I love Techno"-event. More heroes arose: Kevin Saunderson, Juan Atkins, Derrick May, DJ Sneak, Sven Vath... Discovered "goa" in 1998, through ppl I met on the annual & legendary "10 days of techno". Via them I checked out some parties. Wo-ow what was thàt all about ? Fluo everywhere, crazy relentless dancers, beautyfull women & it didn't end until noon. Didn't really like the music, too fluffy for my taste, but I loved the atmosphere & spirit, especially on Open Airs! I would continue to go to house & techno parties in all shapes & sizes (still do so today!) & from time-to-time go to psy-parties for afterhours In the beginning I got a lot of shit from narrowminded psy-ppl who didn't like the fact that "techno-headz" came to "their parties": so much for openmindedness Of course this faded quickly... Bought my first psy-cd in a second hand shop in 1999: http://www.discogs.com/release/208935 I picked it because of the crazy cover & actually really liked the stuff by X-dream & SUN-project. Around 2000 the progressive & psytek finally brought me a sound I really liked. In Belgium this new music was embodied by DJ Aorta. When I discovered SBK, Haldolium & Shiva Chandra I was really hooked! Over those 8 years I gradually shifted from a coupple of psy parties a year, to one each month, then a coupple each month & finally ended up doing one pretty much every week Although a lot has changed & most of the magic from those early parties indeed is gone, I find it hard to get the same satisfaction in other parties... So I'll probably be doing festivals for the next 10years aswell!

I must say I am véry pleasantly surprised by these results. In fact, they are a lot closer to my personal taste than I would have dared imagine...
-
not to be a prick, but you mean "Element - Transform" right?
-
Ooze - Where the fields never end Element - Full Moon Atmos - Headcleaner Haldolium - H2 SBK - Treibstoff

Good idea to keep an open mind & ear, Heva. For me personally, last coupple of years I prefer to look in the chill-dept. for my proggy alternatives. But aparently there's no shortage of suggestions here... I used to be really into the whole psytek-thing too, but these days it seems I just can't take that "harder-than-concrete"stuff anymore, at least not at home. But if that's what you're looking for, check out labels like Horns & Hoofs, Gravity+ or good old Boshke Beats. Also I'm pretty sure you'd like some progressive house too. I'm rediscovering older stuff by Deep Dish or Global Underground-mixes by Danny Tenaglia these days. As for the more trancy stuff: don't look at me...

Soulclipse Festival - Turkey 2006
Tox replied to el brujo's topic in General Party & Travel Talk (Worldwide)
aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaallrightyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy! In that case the ticket-price makes a little more sense, no? Good times ahead! -
Loads of crappy "psy-covers", some good proggy-stuff in the last 2-3 months, some good chill... At least 1 milestone coming up in 2006: the Minilogue full album! Trust me, this will be "something completely different"
