    USA

the word "patriotism" is just putting a positive spin on nationalism. it's a tool to create hatred, inequality and ultimately violence. anyone who would go to war for their (or any) country is no better than a murderer or terrorist (the latter seems to be a "worse" word than the former. i see no difference). why can't we agree on peace, love, freedom and equality? needless to say, you wouldn't get my vote either.

at a time when the usa was not yet the dominating superpower, a pacifist challanged and "waged war" upon the british empire without firing a single shot and won. also the usa has lost numerous wars in the last 50-70 years despite haiving unmachted military power. vietnam, iraq, afghanistan, libya, ... so military power isn't everything. even if one declares himself the winner because he bombed a whole country to the ground and killed one single guy that he labels as his opponent, he will turn to population against him and lose the struggle in the end. if you truly want to win a war, you'll need the people to accept you. you might oppress them for a while, but the harsher you are the quicker and more spectacular will your reign end. just look at how gaddaffi was lynched by his own populace.
  3. i know a few goa heads who are into prog rock. and i don't even find it surprising. they are both psychedelic, relatively complex music genres with usually elaborate storytelling. besides that, there's also ozric tentacles who probably serve as a bridge for listeners from each genre to the other one (though not in my case. i already listened to both when i learned of their existance here on psynews). i start my day with whatever comes up. if it's sky input, it's sky input.
  4. same here. except i don't turn the music off while eating or when people are visiting wtf?!? it doesn't get boring it only occurs every few months that i get bored and have to listen to something else (techno or prog rock) for 1-2 days. why should psy get boring quite fast when you have a playlist of good psy that (in theory) allows you to listen for 30 days until you hear something twice?
  5. thanks for this thread. i knew most of them and don't agree with others, but that digital blonde release and profondita are new to me and really good. argo sounds like a cross between the two trance classics john 00 fleming - healing and space manouvres - stage one (seperation mix).

i really hate that term. it lumps together multiple possible meaning and is as far as i can see most often used to discredit left-wing economic policies. in discussion i have sometimes been accused of being a supporter of big government despite having anarchist views. the best govnernment is no government and i don't want any laws regulating people's personal lives. but capitalism self-destructs every few years/decades due to accumulation of capital and without large-scale redistribution of wealth we go from crisis to crisis. also having a functioning social security system is a prerequisite for having at least a little equality in a capitalistic society. apparently, you use the term in yet another context. what does "big government" mean in the context of foreign politics?
  7. for really good albums: put on headphones, close eyes, lean back. (or for downtempo/ambient: lie down, fall asleep. wake up an hour later from the darkpsy that itunes chose should come after the ambient ) otherwise: browse psynews, obviously . or another forum, reddit, imgur, ... if you're into games, strategy games usually are relaxing and don't need sound. civ, eu, ...
  8. tal is closer to the original but has that "muffled gritty digital" sound. lush has the "smooth analogue clarity" but isn't quite as accurate. so the difference between tal and lush is just like the difference between abl and phoscyon. abl is closer to the original but phoscyon has "analogue clarity", a better overall sound and more features. the comparison probably a bit more favourable towards tal compared to abl because the sh-101 had a "dirtier" sound anyway...
  9. what a curious release. the shpongle remix is actually decent with a few interesting sounds. only the guitar sounds out of place. the mad tribe remix on the other hand.... i though we left those cheap fullon remixes behind us a few years ago? still, besides the obvious (x-dream), the best remix of this track is imba's version.
  10. ^ that's actually pretty good. not oldschool but not bad at all. i had always thought mfg's newest album was crappy me-too fullon. @topic
  11. that level of judging extends to my own tracks, so i'll rather spare the public from having to listen to them
  12. i like the melody after the speech sample around 1:20. filteria meets k.o.b. 2:00 is just a typical filteria melody. if i didn't like that i'd hate sky input and heliopolis. and back then i did. it took me a long time to look through all that seems like randomness and get into his sound. there's a nice rhytmic sound and some weird fx at around 3:03 the melodies at 2:30 and 3:40 are variations that "logically" (if you're used to filteria's style) follow the original melody from 2:00. actually 4:10 and 5:15 are the same thing. i don't see anything etnica abour 5:15. i don't like that bit at 6:20 too much the climax at 7:15 isn't one of his best. yeah, filteria is a very acquired taste. at first it seems as if everything is totally over the top, cheesy "circus" music, with completely random melodies. it took me a long time (actually, until daze which is more accessible and conventional) until it finally made click and now those filteria melodies seem to follow a kind of logical progression. there is definitely some sort of logic or concept behind all his music. but i don't see how in this respect this track is different than sky input or heliopolis (the melodies sound like old filteria while the patches sound smooth like on daze)... alien protein has a few pretty weak melodies. the one in microdrive although imho worse than any from that filteria track is still harmless compared to the one at 2:33 in party droid. that melody (as well as the horrible synth patch) really gets on my nerves.
  13. ^ not only is it far from being the worst, it's also far from being bad. with a style that's like daze but with some heliopolis influences the track is imho better than all other compilation tracks we've got from filteria since.
  14. nice! enjoy the food i'm doing fine (except for the shitty weather which curiously makes me listen to and produce techno instead of goa) the only psy that's ok now is stuff like nervasystem. hacking the neuron is great but the collab with skizologic is even better. that acidline...
  15. many of us have been around since the 00s. compared to back then goa is huge now. if i dislike something i don't say "it's great" like i did back then, just because it was goa. also i've become a lot more picky and i can afford to do so. this one doesn't fit in this thread. it's as least as good as 70% of goa trance tracks, which are unknown to me, that i hear in dj sets. isn't there an imba darkpsy track on some obscure compilation? if you have to choose one of your tracks for this thread (which i think you shouldn't do), i'd take that one.
  16. yeah. sky input, heliopolis and remixes&unreleaseds all had the same distinct sound. daze and lost are different (and better imho).
  17. not counting agneton, anything that sounds more nitzho than (the more goa sounding tracks of) ephedra or jis is too much for me.
  18. if i had to choose the best two albums from those to release on cd i'd take impossible astronaut and svemirski hod. the latter even has artwork that looks too professional for a pure net-release

    China

the republic of china aka taiwan is actually even greedier when talking about claiming territory of other countries. this is probably due to the prc having agreements solving territorial conflicts with other formerly "communist" countries.
  20. where are those remixes? i know the big blue live remix was released in 2011 on va-planet riders and there's a filtertraces remix out on joof in 2015.
  21. if your summer is like the summer we have over here right now (18˚C and pouring with rain) i suggest this: or even better, a whole mixtape of stuff like that: http://www.ektoplazm.com/mixes/dj-basilisk-moonshadow
  22. not only potentially. they did successfully break down barriers. at least the barrier that seperated psytrance from pop music, causing a flood of cheap pop trance and making releases such es electro sun - higher than ever or alien jesus even possible. normally i think that the christian concept of being tortured for all eternity for some wrongdoing silly, but here i'm not so sure
  23. something different and something creative. a harmonious blend between dark progressive and uk psytrance with an eerie atmosphere and some classical influences here and there. at the same time pretty effect-driven but also including melodic ideas. i just downloaded his whole discography from ektoplazm for further study...
