  1. his first album is pretty good, avalanche and waves on sound are too cheesy for me, but atmosphere ! beautiful outer space music.
  2. no distortion this time. thanks a lot! such excellent customer service is a rare thing
  3. ah, paul eye saves the day again (and commits the night to the listening to lots of samples). i'm halfway through the list, getting a small taste of the music. so far i've found hinkstep, locomotion, flowerz and floating planet. the last one is the best up to now (from skipping through the samples), but just like with "hallucinogen in dub - live" i don't quite know wheter i shall put it into the one of the electronic music or into a non-electronic music playlist @ap try this one: not all cbl is great, but there's a lot of great stuff to be found in their discography. @starkraver phase90 is not my cup of tea either. i perfer my chillout melodic, heavy in psy elements and preferably dub, downtempo trance or with some laid-back breakbeats. but thanks anyway. someone else might like it. it's the downtempo thread for everyone i'll get to the rest of your suggestions once i've sampled paul eye's list.
  4. no, no! i also have a category "not psytrance" for infected, while talamasca's latest album is neither good nor bad enough (i like to keep infected, electro sun and alien jesus as an example of the absolute worst of "psytrance") to disgrace my hard drive
  5. hello everyone just like last year, i've noticed that i've picked up much less downtempo music than uptempo this year. seeing that most of my favourite releases were recommended in last year's thread, i've decided to open a new one for 2015. i guess it will also be useful to others in preparation for the upcoming best of 2015 poll. so what are your favourite downtempo/psychill/psydub albums/compilations from 2015? i'll start off with: Ott - Fairchildren (not quite as good as his previous albums, but it's still ott) Illuminus - Sweep Dreams (psydub with half of hux flux. similar to globular but more consistent/not as daring) Phobium - Khronikos (downtempo, one 50min long track)
  6. both mwnn tracks are simply "psytrance" in my music library. my favourite progressive psytrance track is human blue - dream creator. though if you put that one under progressive goa (it is somwhere between goa and psytrance...), i'd choose freq - strange attractor or andromeda - sensations (the latter would be #1 without doubt if it didn't have that horrible sample).
  7. just like on ormion's thread: what about artha? intense, complex, everchanging with a totally beautiful break and nice climaxes. speaking about climaxes, how could we not include filteria in here: and of course this gem: more intense stuff that imho surpasses flamicogyre and howling at the moon: Moonweed&Shakta - Micronesia Dimension 5 - Harmonic Convergence Electric Universe - Luna Overdrive Psylent Buddhi - Moksha
  8. wikipedia isn't always a good source of information (but it seems to be legit here). at least the german wiki, which goes more into detail with trance subgenres, puts paragilders - paraglide into hard trance.there's nothing hard about that track, nothing at all...
  9. shpongle isn't psytrance, i wouldn't count that. infected is more psytrance-flavoured music-that's-popular-on-the-radio-right-now. if we count them we'd have to count most releases on joof or pharmacy records (being psytrance-flavoured (normal) trance), or cybernetika (same with dnb/breaks), etc. etc.) the only ones that really stand out by being completely unique (and don't just mix up genres but are rather a genre of themselves) are imho juno reactor and eat static.
  10. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wKtLInYG_Hk though i'm not sure if all three are definitely hard trance instead of normal trance.
  11. i have to object to the cover. the girl is not skinny enough for radi. quick! choose a different one before he notices. think again, those people get invited to huge gigs. if their fame and glamour rubs off unto you, you'll get to play as main act in huge stadiums full of very questionable people!
  12. gabba is mostly 180+ (theoretically 150+), so yes, psycore is like gabba, but hitech is too . i've heard melodic happy sound (so hitech) over 210bpm...
  13. i know. i didn't expect something like filteria either, especially in the collab with process, but neither braincell, nor oood nor the infinity project are anywhere near as minimalistic as the old samples sounded. @drezz thanks for the unexpectely quick response and update! the samples give me a better impression now . i take it the one starting around 4:40 is the collab with colin?
  14. dj searcher! i was in love with his mixtapes for a while. especially alpha centauri (which is still my definition of how darkpsy has to sound) people have called all sorts of music "neurotrance" for a long time. i've heard the term for various styles of darkpsy (in the sense you mention but equally often for hitech or psycore), for psytrance in general and even for what we call normal trance (as opposed to the extremely cheesy vocal "trance" which those people classified as normal)... @topic i've also noticed uk psytrance rising in popularity. seemingly it also has become a bit more like darkpsy over the years (your first example is darker than anything i remember)...
  15. indeed. but the samples are pretty nondescript. i don't think i've found a single melody in those 8 minutes.
  16. human blue has some really nice progressive with especially the early releases sometimes being heavily influenced by goa. try this one: for some really good "modern" progressive try e-clip. more good progressive: lyctum liquid soul andromeda elegy protonica some essential oldschool goa artists i think you'd like: chi-a.d. dimension 5 / hunab ku transwave yahel (first album only) aeternum doof same for newschool goa: ra artifact303 khetzal eleusyn antares ethereal e-mantra (for slower, smoother music: his side project night hex) some psytrance/fullon artists you cannot miss: logic bomb (goes from weird psytrance to fullon to progressive) silicon sound (pure analog album) braincell talamasca (musica divinorum, zodiac) psilocybian for chillout i'd just point you towards altar records. i guess that's more than enough for now
  17. don't be. listen to bionic bong and listen to "when i drag my tortured, withered carcass to the boneyard and fall greatfully into the sweet blissful bosom of the grave". there's also a tim schuldt track with samples mentioning nazi troops...
  18. i don't think there's a name for that. it's just that the kick drum pattern is not the most boring pattern possible. tbh, you'll find that all over goa trance but i haven't yet heard a single progressive track with some variety here. even in fullon it's just a simple four on the floor pattern >99% of the time...
  19. ah, ok. well, it's still cut off at the left side in any case i have long given up on that idea. there are just so many, they cannot all be ironic, can they?
  20. i didn't realise that it wasn't an original image and missed that the torus is cut off. now that you say it, its place in here is well-deserved
  21. you're not alone. it's easy to tolerate the samples with a track like this. nothing in life is perfect and this one is like having one set of neelix at a weeklong goa trance festival
  22. ^^ great. well, not great, but it fits perfectly in here
