  1. he should be. he's been making music for longer than etnica had been when they were considered old at the time sky input came out.
  2. not spectecular but these new samples indeed sound good. the cover is not bad and definitely speaks "koxbox" but those huge lips look a bit strange on the face
  3. i haven't been on irc in the last 10 years. they do take the "back to the 90s" vibe seriously
  4. not exactly. at the time of the solar eclipse i was 180km further to the west
  5. since people have already posted earlier tracks, i can't resist adding the ultimate morning fullon track now:
  6. ^ good fullon, but i don't see anything "morning" about it.
  7. trying to strike a compromise between it really being fullon (as opposed to progressive), having a morning sound and being recent music, i settled on this one: edit: or maybe this album comes closer?:
  8. for this style your go to artists would definitely be dj hype and shy fx. also this classic should fit pretty well: i just realized that most jungle i listened to back then (i was a huge fan a few years before i discovered goa/psy) was material from local artists. most of that were never properly released ragga jungle dubplates, so any recommendation is not going to be of great use to you. so, here's something different: a bit experimental but not as chaotic/noisy/breakcore-y as fff, bong ra or parasite.
  9. Network 23 - freetekno Tek No Logique - freetekno Smitten - acid techno Hydraulix - techno Joof - trance
  10. i just finished a game of master of orion 1. i've heard good things about that one and will definitely try it some time.
  11. i guess we would have seen them play more often if that was the case. i don't know for sure, but discogs tells me he's from switzerland.
  12. praying forest dansul ielelor beyond the boreas indian attic (tellurian remix) so obviously arcana is still my favourite album, but if i would continue the list i'd have to list a few tracks from nemesis next.
  13. exactly. and union jack - cactus could even have served as a template for fullon kick+bass
  14. everything's subjective. imho 9th surely was the best thing since corolle which was the best goa release since.... umm.. second phaze or something, but after 9th, i put daze, back to space and influencing dreams in the same category.
  15. i've always seen psytrance as a subset (the less accessable or easy-listening kind) of trance. if you look at mid 90s releases (for instance bpc, mwnn, eat static or cygnus-x) this becomes very clear. often it's more dependant on the artist than the track itself if it's classified as psy or as trance. take bpc - crystal and cygnus-x - synchronism: the first one is goa the second one trance, but really it could be the other way round. synchronism sounds more like goa than half of bpc's output. it is only with the time around 2000 that trance became exceedingly commercial/cheesy/formulaic that there was a huge gap between the two, but around 6 years later fullon did the same and closed that gap. of course regular trance and fullon had their own signature sounds (supersaws with a characteristic pattern, pianos, extremely long breakdowns vs. rolling bassline, psyfarts and extremely long/repetitive buildups), but if anything, psy has followed trance rather than moving away from it. now there's also much more variance between different genres of psy (and trance for that matter) than between psy and trance. the increasingly blurring lines between trance and goa as well as trance and progressive are a good indication. and if you ask me it's a good thing. trance has preserved (and refined) different qualities of what initially was good about trance/goa than psy has. there are many things we can learn from each other.
  16. thanks for those links. there's definitely some good stuff in there. listening and downloading right now but i've decided to skip one of the alien language mixes. if there's only ra being played i have no new music to discover . it's really nice to see this kind of goa getting more recognition (even if it makes me a bit disappointed about the "mainstream"-psy scene).
  17. both are nice. i like the vibe, the rhytmwork and of course the acid. the first one could be the intro to an epic >15:00 acid stormer . they are still unfinished i suppose? you should definitely expand these tracks to give them some direction and different perspectives of the sonic landscape you've created.
  18. john 00 fleming has been at the forefront of good trance for a while now and the psy influences is clear with quite a few joof or pharmacy releases (not only with the collabs or the straight goa releases such as eleusyn), but i haven't realized that good trance has become a "thing" (complete with a new name) again. i approve thanks for metioning healing, i didn't know the track before and it's indeed a good one
  19. the last one before the outro is chi-a.d. - astral warrior. really nice mix. any idea about the track between 48:00 and 53:00?
  20. good title and nice groovy track (although i sometimes confuse it with beautiful people) slinky wizard and gnotr have a few good tracknames. i especially like the moon strudel remix of lunar juice
  21. it took me a while to remember where i know this progression from, but finally i found the right tekno track from 2002: https://soundcloud.com/john_protox/protox-hallu-est now i wonder if metahuman took some cues from protox or if both stole from an earlier track sorry, i have nothing useful to contribute here. crazy astronaut is the most melodic hi-tech i know.
  22. ^ what? they're nothing special for d5 standards but still good. maybe a bit boring, but i don't see how unobtrusive tracks like these can be the worst in any way you look at it.
  23. i have and it's good, but too subdued and dark for the style i'm missing atm. deviant electronics is more like miranda, elysium or nervasystem than like astral, khetzal or ra, if you know what i mean
  24. if you told me it was from an unreleased koxbox track i wouldn't disagree. there really is a lot going on with goa getting more experimental and covering a broader spectrum (especially with the darker/acidic stuff). when compiling my next driving cd i noticed a definite lack in the smoother trancy stuff compared to the last years. the only recent album (apart from a few compilation tracks) is ap's remix album. the last albums before that were mindsphere, artifact303 and antares and these are a few years old already. that means it's time for ra , any news?
