Pls Explain the Difference between these ...
Padmapani replied to Red_Drag0n's topic in General Psytrance
yup. it's all progressive psytrance. there is no subgenre called progressive goa. even if some newer progressive combines elements of goa into progressive like the latest ovnimoon. your examples are not necessarily more melodic than some of the earlier progressive psytrance. try this one: it's imho a lot closer to goa than the tracks you posted and still it's definitely progressive psytrance. -
WHATS GOING ON AT OVNIMOON HEADQUARTERS!
Padmapani replied to technosomy's topic in General Psytrance
sounds interesting. i'll have to give look into that album. -
the weather has really been shitty this summer. usually the time around my birthday is the hottest time of the year with 30-35˚C, but it looks like it's going to be around 22˚C my motivation for going out or something is around zero. well, more time for the upcoming exams and more time for music... @penzoline i thought scandinavia had unusually good and warm weather this year with the high pressure thingy staying over sweden for many weeks?

happy birthday joske!

i've noticed that one just a few days ago. crop circles, etnica/pleiadians 3h set, ...

nothing beats the 909 for hats. recently i swapped ADM for Drumazon for that purpose. a huge improvement imho. almost anything that's not supposed to be 909, i do with ultrabeat. so sadly i have neither experience nor reccomendations for any hardware.

that's also what i suspected at first. the style seemed a bit similar. anyway, he certainly wasn't new to psynews. @rotwang your comment in the "contest" thread . that's what i call wielding the modstick in a masterful way.

that would indeed be news over here. it's rather: obviously guilty politicians are found "innocent" of stealing from the country. obviously guily politicians are reelected. on the plus side, they haven't raised the taxes in 2 years or so.

alright. so C phrygian with 148bpm it is. but that kind of kick and bass to me sound like they demand a crazier, more agressive kind of sound. so i made a few adjustments modified melody 1 modified melody 1 with a different patch acid rhytm (you can never have enough acid ) melody 2 melody 2 with yet another different patch the fancy fx turned out a bit weak, but here they are nonetheless: gated fx modular fx and some hat loops to go with it: simple 909 open hat 909 ride and here's it all together

this. my favourites atm would be: exit eternity, sight of the sages (somehow similar to exit eternity by in a totally different context), biocandy (totally different) and x-isle (also different but somwhere between exit eternity and biocandy)

artha! and of course e-mantra/eleusyn, nova fractal, bsf, filteria (daze and later stuff) and artifact303. aguably also psy-h project. maybe also ra. they all fully integrate what has happened in psy since oldschool fell out of favour and use elements known from fullon/progressive(/dark) in unambiguously "goa" ways. just one example is the "newschool bass" used in many tracks by all of them. it sounds nothing like oldschool basses or the stereotypical, overused and boring fullon basslines but brings the energy of fullon to goa without getting formulaic or giving up the variety of goa basslines (or drowning out the low end from the kick). if you didn't know the artist you'd know it's a newschool track from the bassline alone, but every artist has a characteristic style that's immediately recognisable, even though there are differing bass sounds in various tracks. also i see music like nova fractal (or blackstarrfinale) as the true successors to (the good kind of) fullon, taking (many of) its good characteristics further instead of taking them out and replacing them by... (insert another rant about how (non-goa) psytrance has gone to shit here ).

austria: headline 1: the ministry of interior and department of public prosecution are firmly in the hand of neonazis. no one cares. headline 2: the agricultural lobby is afraid that a bag of rice might fall over and demand higher subsidies (which they will get).

why close it? it's fun to take part in a creative community effort, no matter if it's a contest or if it ends up in a collab doing a track. anyway here's what i've got inspired by the original sample: https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/109605202/Contest/ContestMelo.aif i guess this turned out not too far off the original intention of the thread? i didn't like the progression that much either, so i changed it around a bit. it's now D phrygian instead of whatever it was before (B spanish gyspy i suppose; which sounds a bit odd when there's no distinct clue on where the root note is). behold the quirky resonance of the ms20 filter!

yep, that's definitely him. that's what the governments of the world get for not providing a minimum wage of 5000€ (the monitors and synths aren't going to buy themselves) to every goa trance artist. the poor goa addicts have to turn to crime to support their habit

there are two solstices in a year, separated by six months.

well, there's logic bomb obviously imho both (depite being further away from goa) are infinitely better than sfx. the only sfx track i love is millennia, and that's because it sounds exactly like astral. the rest mostly sounds like badly made music from the time peroid when "rave" transitioned to (techno and) trance. probably because the tracks were made in that time period the closest music i know is likely the 'trance dance 128' album by trilithon.

Man With No Name - Vise Versa (Perfecto Fluoro)
Padmapani replied to Tom!'s topic in General Psytrance
yeah, it's nothing extraordinary but a nice mwnn track. the style is a bit like the later compilation tracks from him. hopefully any real new tracks (i've got a strong feeling that i've heard this one before a couple of times. maybe in his livesets in the last years? or maybe someone has posted them here before? or both?) will be a bit more energetic with stronger melodies. but anyway, good to see that more stuff is getting released, even if it's goagressive and not goa -
nice! i'd like to see that in real life. reminds me a bit of those hypercube animations.
-
the ideal volume is when you not only feel the bass, but when every kickdrum sends out a gust of wind to cool the sweating dancers. against excessivly loud high(hat)s you can always use earplugs.
-
ah, yes. that sounds appropriate what i find interesting to listen to in a related way is danish. the sounds, combinations and the way how it's spoken totally sound like i should be able to understand everything, when in reality i have no chance of understanding anything.
-
spanish spanish sounds indeed a lot nicer than mexican spanish are you sure that it's german you're talking about? . the german in the southern half of the german language area imho sounds ok (but not more; swiss german is funny though) to me while the language of the northern half is among the acoustically most offensive languages i've ever heard.

Cygnus X - Synchronism Der Dritte Raum - Trommelmaschine Union Jack - Red Herring 4Voice - Eternal Spirit (Northern Mix) Emmanuel Top - Turkish Bazar Cybernaut - Califrae Solar Quest - Acid Baba .... and depending on who you ask, overbloody flood also falls into that category.

it's not the only thing missing. there is no teleport, no sugar rush, no space juice.

replace green by red and brown (and add cyan for morning melodies) and we can agree pure green for me is a very rare colour, that makes exit eternity and especially 'tristan - if only' really stand out. the other way round. oldschool goa often has warm earth colours and psytrance is usually blue (from purple to cyan). distorted acidlines are always dark red, while clean acidlines are usually bluish.
