  1. it's called sleep paralysis and is indeed a very strange state. most of the time you have opened your eyes, cannot move and sometimes even hallucinate the wildest things while being conscious about your surroundings. the best thing to avoid sleep paralysis ime is having a regular sleeping pattern (something that society makes really hard for me) while an almost sure way to induce it every night are those malaria prophylaxis tabs you should take in certain places with extra high risk. it used to totally freak me out (partly because of the hallucinations; i've had a speaker in my field of view turn into the grim reaper once ), but if you know the state well enough to recognize it, it's more interesting than scary. and indeed moving the fingers fist helps
  2. filteria's set at sun festival last summer, surprising and new especially when he played the tracks later to be released on the new album. at parties? nothing for years...
  3. yes. but the fact that the plane took off the the middle of this huge tropical thunderstorm took all enjoyment from the experience and made me hate planes ever since. i'd surely appreciate a train or bus that can get me to southeast asia in 12 hours.
  4. the first one is: E-Mantra - Praying Forest (short version) no idea for the rest...
  5. yeah. they're often so overcompressed that you actually hear the distortion clearly even on small shitty speakers. the lack of dynamics is very tiring to listen to and i bet if you'd look at the waveform, then it's a solid rectangle.
  6. that's surprising. simon always draws the biggest crowd of those mentioned here (or in hungary). though not necessarily because of his work as hallucinogen, but often rather because he's the guy from shpongle...
  7. i don't think it's pop. but i agree. the 00.db remix (and the protoculture remix thereof) is good (if a bit cheesy, commercial trance like sounding), especially for sunrise. i've found the ap remix weaker than that and the eleusyn one is new to me. i've got to look it up now edit: the eleusyn remix is pretty good too, nice
  8. i expect the latter. audio engineers cannot conclusively tell them apart on their hugely expensive pro setups in double blind experiments... that's all that matters
  9. underwhelming... protoculture doesn't play dawn razor anymore at all . that track is a masterpiece.
  10. so have i exactly. just spread the message that we shouldn't ever allow our festivals to become like this
  11. LOL down with the illuminati. hail eris all hail discordia! but it does have some validity. tomorrowland probably is the thing in edm that's the furthest romved from what the trance dance experience is all about. it's more like a concert than anything else..
  12. that's why definitions such as "spacey" are very subjective. for me i'd define it as something that evokes mental images of outer space. D5 is pure space travel, sometimes orbiting around planets. Etnica is not so much space, but rather trying to make sense of complex alien machinery. Eat Static is your stereotypical alien invasion Chi-AD could be exploring the ruins of an alien civilization on some kind of exoplanet...
  13. i've always thought of platypus as trance (or acid trance in many cases).
  14. judging by the response some of the classic tracks get at festivals, sadly, this one also qualifies:
  15. i love it too. but it owes its (semi-)solid texture to CaSO4. without gypsum it'd be completely liquid. so it's more or less a bean flavoured mineral.
  16. a nice look at the fukushima radiation found on californian beaches. the pacific ocean is huge. dilution is powerful when confronted with such magnitudes of order. still, i wouldn't eat seafood or especially seaweed from off the coast of japan. some organisms accumulate those radioisotopes very efficiently.
  17. sausages. they're all basically offal wrapped in intestines or some synthetic polymer. also tofu. it's basically gypsum flavoured with soy milk. grasshoppers are also said to taste pretty good, i'd like to try them some time... i still wouldn't touch those kokoretsi
  18. ^ that sounds like a quick and dirty way of doing it (not mixing by ear cannot be the ultimate solution), but i guess it helps a lot in those situations when you're completely lost concerning the levels. i'll try it out when i'm stuck with that again...
  19. absolutely. and chi-ad is 50% space and 50% ancient temples from lost civilizations
