  1. no wonder you didn't get a proper response from the people there. in the whole german sprachraum it's all called "goa". when talking about goa you have to say "oldschool". as to what kind of music you heard there, i'm not sure. the last from i heard from northern germany (especially hamburg), the parties there were very progressive focues. but both progressive and fullon have become very minimal-techno influenced in the past few years. you are saying that it was very monotonous with no rolling bassline rather than stop-and-go with way too many breaks and pointless buildups, my money is on progressive. if you posted a link to the party (on goabase) you were, it would probably be easier for us to judge
  2. this time it's just a bunch of wild guesses from me; i didn't know a single track. but anyway: actually the music was way better than i expected. a few (especially towards the beginning) were quite listenable. edit: yay! one point, better than could be hoped for btw: iirc this is actually the 6th round
  3. 28 was easy for me. it's one of my favourite prog tracks. i guess after this round we have the proof that all psytrance sounds the same compared to goa, at least to an audience of goa freaks
  4. whoa this was a difficult one i got a whopping 3 tracks right. edit: that together with one correct guess makes a total of 7 points
  5. yeah, ipads aren't productive. my parents have one at their house, and it's only ever used for browsing the internet. it's convenient for that purpose, lying at the living room table and having a large screen, but for editing spreadsheets or something like that a real computer is surely preferable. i have also noticed that ios on the ipad is much less stable than on the iphone or mac os (which for me is rock solid aside from the occasional glitches like i mentioned above). for your intents i think the mba is a good choice, and as far as i can see now, mavericks is finally going to be an improvement over previous version (except for the name )
  6. messages is more cumbersome to use than ichat, the new safari displays the colours all wrong and freezes every now and then, spaces is only one-dimensional instead of two-dimensional as in snow leopard, the dock gets jumbled up upon connecting or disconnecting a display and the lack of a "save as..." option drives me nuts, as well as the lack of proper scroll bars. all the while, i don't see anything that's improved in mountain lion over snow leopard besides being able to backup to two hard drives without switching in system preferences. mission control? i prefered expose and the old spaces launchpad? comeon... it's much more practical to just put your applications folder in the dock if you are in need of such a thing notification center? horrible beyond imagination, thankfully i could turn it off.
  7. i prefer the kick to be the dominant part of the low end, so here's an example of a perfect fit with a subtle bass that's still warm and fat: for epic (standard) kbbb's it's take: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nKBOdftSvkM but i've always admired artha's and filteria's bass patches, they often make very fullon-ey basses that still sound completely different and are fatter than in any fullon track while still leaving more than anough room for the melodies on top. filteria's earthrise is a good example: but artha's bali for instance is equally good at this. edit: oh, wait. i've forgotten another of my absolute favourites: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UyvHOJDMteI 1:58!
  8. same here. i've found the gathering quite ok, but otherwise...
  9. i tried those and pulse+pulse didn't come too close. one pulse plus detuned saws sounded very good to me. of course the sound also totally depends on the envelope settings and distortion. for the sound of the filter, i came closest with lush-101, so maybe the original was done on a SH-101? of course lush doesn't do one square in the middle and 2 saws on each side, as i tried above with zebra, but unison works nicely instead. i dunno if the sh-101 has unison (i think not), so maybe this isn't the right synth/patch, but pwm didn't sound half as good as unison here.
  10. not on my speakers. maybe you were listening to a lot of etnica/pleiadians lately and got used to their unusually loud kickdrums
  11. i'm sure it's re-order from cosmosis otherwise maybe the hardfloor remix?
  12. mine would look something like this: 1. Antares - Mysticism a smooth way to start things off for the first, darker part of the cd 2. E-Mantra - Praying Forest (short version) still mysterious sounding but darker and picking up in intensity 3. Filteria - Stars (starstuff remix) it's good, but not in my top ten. still it has to be at exactly that spot. i dunno why 4. Artha - Bali the second climax after the last track, we're obviously still in darker territorry 5. Artifact303 - The Ancestors intense, but less dark, now transitioning to the lighter side of the compilation 6. Filteria - The Big Blue again filteria, but there's no way i could omit this track 7. Ra - Time Current the perfect euphoric morning track 8. Chi-A.D. - Sight of the Sages again morning sound, now reducing the intensity 9. Khetzal - Djaningar the perfect track to give the compilation a blissful ending total playtime: 79 minutes.
  13. i like the repetitiveness. it's trance after all but yes, definitely underrated.
  14. if the new astral projection album came out on suntrip, i'd at least know that it was going to be good
  15. haha, i've been thinking the same thing. compiling the tracks is easy, but even the supposedly easy to use imovie is a mystery to me. logic is so much simpler
  16. 10.8.3 here, because my old laptop died and the new one can't run snow leopard. stick to it while you can.
  17. i missed it, so i'm definitely interested. why do i always notice such events a few days afterward?
  18. i'll be going this year. the austrian festivals are pretty shit this time and ozora looks less attractive from year to year now. so this and the 16 hours of nonstop goa trance leave me with no other choice anyone else going to sun festival too? goa-wise it looks like the second best thing (maybe even better if the timetable is right?).
  19. i love serbian progressive, but it does lack a bit of the energy of the fullon back then. still, for me it's the best thing besides the very rare goa artist to see at parties. but sadly i have noticed some of those artists slowly turning more towards minimal with their newer releases.
  20. no, it's not shameful, but imho not particularly good either. the "climax" at the end gets on my nerves. but what really is shameful is that he was (/is?) part of ALIEN JESUS. yes, but it's from around 2003. Zodiac came out in 04 and imho is the last good release. everything talamasca up to then has been good, but now... i guess all waiting for another Time Simulation (which is sort of my definition for good fullon) will be in vain. this one deserves a place in my thread about fullon. it's totally exemplaric for all the shitty tracks we were treated with a few years ago at the peak of cheesy fullon. but i think it's still better (i do have to struggle to put this track in the same sentance as the word better) than the electro-house-minimal-fullon track darkill posted. now for something more positive (from 2003): why don't they make sound like that anymore? fullon that is energetic but not forcedly so and has that outer space atmosphere is totally missing today.
  21. that's a strange question considering that it was used widely in trance before goa trance split off from it. so the question is: when does goa trance start. the earliest goa trance release i have in my library is the dragonfly compil project ii - trance and the 303 is already featured prominently on there.
  22. sound nice. especially the 303 bit there's a cosmic dimension album forthcoming? good to hear, i'll have high expectations after the track on blacklight moments. but please don't remind me of ra, i'm impatient enough as it is
  23. make it 44.i won't take the point for 27. he's only half of what i guessed. but i gladly accept 45 . that's how i thought about the previous rounds. this time i knew all tracks beside 5 (of course the difficulty still is remembering the names). more space tribe or mfg would only have made it more difficult imho
  24. definitely easier than the past rounds. here's my take: edit: bah @ #28. i always confuse the two @ormion i've just checked and i'm with you about #6, dunno about #9.
