  1. -Austrian "German" -German -English i am absolutely convinced that the first two are seperate languages that don't have more in common than german and dutch.
  2. on the topic of digital vs cd release, we have had this thread/poll. considering how large of a percentage of potential buyers of goa trance are here on psynews, i think it's only logical for labels to sell cds.
  3. what i have learnt is: stay the hell away from the mudpeople! they look friendly and as if they have fun, but in reality their intentions are evil. they only hug you because want to make your last remaining shirt full of dirt.
  4. i try not to think too much to totally get lost in the music. but in reality i often think about how it would be much more awesome if they played goa instead
  5. iirc tripticon was very nice dark goa with horrible mastering/(mixing?).
  6. as does the claim that newschool isn't as good as oldschool goa.
  7. by that definition i don't listen to ambient at all. floating evolving pads put me to sleep or make me nervous because i'm looking for change where which doesn't come at the pace i'd expect. i do love psydub or downtempo goa though. ott, globular, e-mantra and all those tracks from cbl, aes dana and asura that have a beat .
  8. ^this. with asterope, alcyone and time dilation following closely, but maia is still #1 for me.
  9. it is. i was in a state of constant terror during a four hour taxi drive from dehli to agra. transportation gets better the further south you are in india, but considering how it is in the north that doesn't mean too much
  10. but kärnten is near/in the mountains and gets a lot more rain and clouds, making it cooler nonetheless. i know, but it's an international (=english language) forum. btw, i heard exactly the same description you just gave about girl preferences from a friend some years ago. turns out he gave up on women altogether and has a boyfriend now
  11. when i was there three years ago in february for 10 days, we found not one single party and the "famous" venues from back then played minimal techno. but arambol was still a nice chilled place to hang out and go swimming. i heard from a friend who was there over new years this year, that there are still good parties, but only around christmas break; he also said it was overrun by drunk russians. though if you go now, it's probably rather empty with mostly relaxed people who stay there for multiple months.
  12. +1 probably not the most influential or innovative, but goa trance in perfection.
  13. fuck kärnten. the only things where kärnten gets a top spot in austria are corruption, the number of nazi-sympathizers and the amount of advertisement for their tourism. but the people who emigrate into other parts of austria because they can't take their fascist fellow carinthians anymore are generally very nice people the best weather in austria is definitely in the burgenland, which is an exceedingly boring region. very hot and humid is exactly the way i like it
  14. the other forum with the killaaaaaaargh comments has also become comparatively quiet lately, if not more quiet than this one (with the exception of the music production section).
  15. quite the opposite imho. i think that the thing that's missing most in newschool are those hypnotic tracks that consist of nothing more than one loop with a splash here and sprinkle there. the tracks that come to my mind with that description are bpc - micromega or electric universe - one love. compare that to filteria's big blue
  16. i passionately hate minimal techno. what is this even doing in the psytrance section? but this is much better than the usual minimal. even a bit atmospheric and listenable for short periods of time. not the usual boring blip-fest.
  17. i can totally agree here. etnica/pleiadians is not something to fall in love with on the first listen. their tracks become better and better with repeated exposure.
  18. it's not only about the sun, it's about the temperature too, which lags behind the sun nearly two months. if you take that into account you get the traditional setup of seasons. but here in central europe the weather in summer is so bad most of the time that it feels like there's only two or three weeks of summer at all
  19. i was almost going to choose that one, but i have to go with trip tonite (remix).
  20. the one starting at 15min is synchro - f-buckets. the first one sounds a bit like early hux flux or absolum to me at the beginning. i know that track well (including the sample), but have no idea right now...
  21. in respect to most religions i'm an atheist, but concerning buddhism i'm agnostic. but then again buddhism is essentially an atheistic religion.
  22. no way. 19 was the best year. with 19 you have all that puberty stuff and school behind you, are considered an adult by society, have already settled in to university life with a lot of freedom, but there's still a lot of cool music and other cool stuff to be discovered and a lot of travelling to new places to do.
  23. yes, there are a few quite distinct artists. e-mantra, ra, artha, filteria and crossing mind imho sound like nothing else. but there's also a lot of samey stuff, especially with the middle eastern sound. if i didn't know that nova fractal - connect was from nova fractal, i'd think it was artifact303. the styles of antares and pharaom are often also nearly undistinguishable. that doesn't mean that it's bad music in any way, i like these artists a lot. if you look at the lesser known artists, it becomes even more of a blur. it's surely still way better than with any other subgenre of psytrance, but definitely more same-sounding than with oldschool goa. there's no way you could confuse a track by hiscore, lotus omega, bypass unit, doof or slinky wizard (trying to keep the real big names out of here) with anything else. still if i had to choose, i'd rather listen to a i.e. nova fractal track that sounds like artifact303 than to any track by lotus omega or bypass unit.
  24. it probably is a guitar (the last one sounds like a sample of a guitar with feedback through the monitors put in a sampler). you can try emulating it by sending a sawtooth though a guitar amp simulator with some distortion and playing around with the pitch wheel. you'd likely have to tweak around with the envelops quite a bit to get it sounding close to the original and the feedback is going to be difficult, but getting something remotely similar that sounds good probably isn't that hard.
  25. no, there isn't, but it's logical: techno + pop vocals -> poptechno i'd say look for stuff from chris liebing, carl cox and adam beyer for the early to mid 00s. afaik they all make much softer if not minimal techno now.
