^ definitely. i dunno why this is with some of the new goa trance. after all there are no sample cds for newschool goa yet, as there are for other genres of psy. i always thought that the reason for 95% of fullon sounding exactly the same was abuse of sample cds.

living in a society, that doesn't allow for my built-in circadian rhytm, i know this very well. i would describe that state as slightly dissociated with a lack of focus. it does imho bear a slight resemblance with the "downer" component of the effects of cannabis and can be pleasant for chilling and listening to music. aggression i have not noticed at all, but it's very rare for me to be agressive at all.

the first one doesn't fit into any of the above categories, but i see no other way but to call it hard techno. the second one imho has the "acid" aesthetic without actual acid, so in my book it goes into #1; i think i've even heard it in such a mixtape (pitched up of course).

^^ hardtechno?? poptechno rather... there's actually two subgenres of techno called hardtechno. #1 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kA-N5ZTuXjg&list=PLD177A32F6A052A46 #2 #1 has been called by that name since the early 90s (and is still more popular than psytrance around here; but the terminology is sometimes a bit messed up with acid techno, tribetek, ...), #2 is around and called hardtechno since about 2000. it take it your intention was a thread about #2?

Logic bomb better than a lot of newschool
Padmapani replied to radi6404's topic in General Psytrance
there's no point in comparing logic bomb to newschool goa. logic bomb is great, but it's no goa. for similar artists try duotekk or anything hux flux after 2000. -
i have noticed the phototropic parties getting less and less frequent. sad, but not too surprising, since the last time i've been there, there were very few people. my attempts at getting people to go there also haven't been very successful ("i'm too tired, i'd rather listen at home" or "you know i need some fullon to dance" ). so i take it there will be no more phototropic label parties? i have begun to suspect (based on what happens at festivals), that you'd need to do some of those huge parties with well known old school goa artists playing their music from back then (hallucinogen, pleiadians, cosmosis and the like) to get people interested in goa again. you then have the chance to fill the spots in between with new/less known goa that's equally great. but of course that's a financial risk that no goa organizer can take (outside belgium).

The big topic: how do you get your music...!?
Padmapani replied to Anoebis's topic in General Psytrance
if i'm sure that i will lke it, i go straight to the onlineshop and order the cd. otherwise i download first and only buy if it's really good. but i generally don't buy digital files (except if i'm searching for one specific obscure track i cannot find otherwise). if i buy it i like to have the cd complete with artwork and booklet. i also don't buy second hand, i want my money to go to the artist and the label. -
+1 but there's also enough other goa released, so i'm still happy.

^ both not available in my country. anyone else get that error?

totally depends on the location. around here the goa parties are very small gatherings compared to other psy parties, but they're there. that would have been unthinkable a few years ago. same thing for the big international festivals. 2006 there were no goa acts to be found at all, but the percentage is increasing every year. for the medium sized festivals, it totally depends on the country. sadly the austrian festivals are very slow to catch on, but they do say that here everything happens a few years later than everywhere else... in general it seems that the parties follow the releases with a 5 year delay or so. i wouldn't speak of a second gold age right now, but who knows where we'll be in a few years.

lost theory indeed has a great goa lineup, but the whole forest/dark focus scares me away a bit. i'd rather have the non-goa spots filled with some melodic progressive or fullon. on the other hand... dimension 5
-
the only one i'll surely be at is sun festival (the old ozora crew just has a nice taste in music). maybe some smaller austrian ones (spirit base, paradise) and maybe either ozora or lost theory. @panoptes there'll be no problem with english. if you as a european want to speak with almost any european that's not from your country you have to use english, so it's probably the most used language at the larger festivals.

morning wave? i don't know the track but just found this comp on discogs: http://www.discogs.com/Various-Goa-Trance/release/184522

have your tried it in all four combinations (milk, no sugar (the best by far); milk, sugar; no milk, no sugar; no milk, sugar (yuck!))? most people only like one of them.

thanks. i have so far only managed a rough draft of a list and no time on my hands in the next few days.

When you're in need of some serious mindfuck...
Padmapani replied to Paul Eye's topic in General Psytrance
this mix is pure mindfuck: http://goatranch.com/2010/04/05/dj-draeke-mentalism/ -
imho yes. it tastes great, complements almost any kind of cake nicely, it complements the taste of cigarettes just as well, and the caffeine can get you going in the morning or keep you awake and concentrated for long car rides. also if i drink one cup of coffee when coming down from the previous one, i get a slightly euphoric, "entactogen" high (but this ceases to work when you got a tolerance). the withdrawal syndrome with headaches is ime easily avoided by keeping your daily coffee intake at an acceptable level, but i'm not sure if i'm the right person here, as i get gastritis if i drink more than one cup per day on average for 2 months.

@johnb820 +1 to everything you said, except the breakbeats (which i don't care much for but also don't dislike) and the vocals. the less vocals the better (with exceptions like those in point zero, etnoscope - sunrise or similar ones).
