the nice chilled out synths and the imho stressful beat don't harmonize for me. so that's a 4/10. but it would sound good as an intro to a dnb set and now for something completely different: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nKBOdftSvkM

sorry, i didn't think of the version on second phaze. i ment the vinyl version.
-
i have wondered about this myself. it sounds remastered, but otherwise it's exactly the same as the other version. classic D5 sound, but not quite on par with the tracks on transdimensional, so i'll give it a 8.5/10 i've been liking this one a lot lately: Fraktophon - Blindspot http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gnMtJ_y7Nlk

i don't think it's that similar to rollercoaster, and it's fullon from 2003 but here we go: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6ifrQxtmhtM

mars you cheater. you voted for 5 countries!
-
1. UK (i don't think this one needs an explanation; in fact most good music from any genre i like comes from the uk) 2. Sweden (logic bomb, s-range, hux flux, filteria, human blue, ...) 3. Germany (x-dream, tim schuldt, electric universe, protonica, MOS, ...) isreal of course also has lots of great artists, but as it's also the epicentre of shitty, commercial and uninspired me-too psy, i just couldn't bring myself to include them on the list.
-
too raspy and metallic for me, but it has melodies and is quite danceable. 5.5/10 let's stay in the darker night territorry but move backwards in time a few years: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eocDoQnK_qY

Your favourite tracks from these 20 classic artists/groups
Padmapani replied to Ormion's topic in General Psytrance
no way. good but a bit too middle-eastern sounding for me. the old school is way better. still: Talamasca - Time Simulation this track imho is the definition of what good fullon should sound like. -
which will be released first, 3rd hallucinogen or astral's new album. i'm taking bets now i think there's no doubt about which one will be better

My first party was in 2000 i think, but i didn't really like it as i was not into edm at that time. One and a half years later i started getting into drumnbass and got some bad quality mp3 with some goa classics along with dnb from a friend. it took quite a while to get used to the 4/4 kick and the first track i actually liked was Astral Projection - Let There Be light. I began searching forums for reccomendations and (concerning psy) mainly collected things like AP, Talamasca and SUN Project at that time. I went to psy parties every now and then for a while, but wasn't fully converted (from jungle/freetekno) until 2006.

1995 Hallucinogen - Twisted 1996 Morphem - Out of Focus 1997 Dimension 5 - Transdimensional (there ought to be at least five slots for 1997 ) 1998 Jaïa - Blue Energy 1999 Blue Planet Corporation - Blue Planet 2000 MWNN - Teleportation (if that one counts. otherwise second phaze) 2001 Talamasca - Musica Divinorum 2002 Logic Bomb - Unlimited 2003 MWNN - Interstate Highway (surprisingly, 2003 also needs multiple slots) 2004 Electric Universe - Cosmic Experience 2005 Khetzal - Corolle 2006 Filteria - Heliopolis (not a lot to choose from here) 2007 Protonica - Search 2008 Ra - 9th 2009 Filteria - Daze Of Our Lives (too many to choose) 2010 Artha - Influencing Dreams 2011 Artifact303 - Back to Space (lots of good releases, incredibly hard) 2012 Protonica - Form Follows Function (not many good albums, but great compilations)

Astral projection vs MFG (> 10 years later)
Padmapani replied to Sideffect...'s topic in General Psytrance
astral projection hands down. save for a few exceptions (welcome to the edge, on mars) i don't find mfg ithat good actually. -
all of them! i guess what could be reffered to as most genuine are the genre defining track such as MWNN - Lunar Cycle Astral Projection - Mahadeva Dimension 5 - Harmonic Convergence (and of course D5D) Chi-AD - Biocandy Morphem - My Plan and many more!
-
no, you're all wrong. the following ones are awesome http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IAN-WUH1iSg

i use adm for classic 909 sounds and basically ultrabeat for the rest
-
koxbox

i'd label those tracks rather as acid trance or acid techno. it's missing that mysterious psychedelic goa vibe. but it's good stuff nonetheless

intertwined or all-encompassing or an aural mandala or simply awesome!

shocking new study on genetically modified food
Padmapani replied to Lemmiwinks's topic in Off Topic
horizontal gene transfer has been around for way longer than selective breeding by humans. you have bacteria that take up dna from their surroundings, bacteria that forcefully inject dna into other bacteria; you have viruses that integrate into the host's genome, which can also disrupt random genes of the host that way. you have transposons (partly defunct retroviruses), which can rearrange, duplicate or delete dna segments of their "host". transposons make up about half of the human dna. there's really nothing new about GM technology. most of the tools we use to modify the genetic makeup of an organism can be found in nature. the only thing to fear is the ethics of some companies involved. it's just those practises that needle ninja mentioned that give this technology a bad reputation, but there's a lot you can do (and what is done) using genetically modified organisms, which helps us conserve ressources, minimize harm to animals or save lives.
