  1. i think it has to do with mainly with eq but also with reverb and delay. you have to give every element a unique space in the mix. if multiple instruments use the same frequency range, they'll clash and make your mix sound cluttered and lacking space (generally the more elements you have the thinner they have to be). the range from 200-500hz ("mud" region) is critical here, cut here (especially with your acidline) to make it sound clearer, but cut too much and you'll lose warmth. the right amount of reverb is also important when trying to achieve a sense of space. if you have a sparse mix you can afford much more reverb (think progressive psytrance), but when you've got a dense mix (like dandelion fx) you're much more limited. generally too much reverb here will make it sound cluttered, while too little will make it sound flat, uninteresting and lacking space. also using different kinds of reverb for multiple instruments often makes the mix sound muddy. i generally use one or two (at most three) reverb channels as a send. i hope my post contained something new for you and was a bit helpful. btw: do you mix on headphones? (like my own attempts at doing this) the mix lacks a bit high-mids, has a bit too much "mud" (at least according to my ears...) and sounds infinitely better with headphones btw2: i think you have a note that doesn't fit the scale in your pattern from 1:45 to 2:40... and +1 to veracohr
  2. downloading just now, but if it's like your other sets, i imagine it's gonna be quite good; melodic, psychedelic, with a good flow and most importantly: not sounding like minimal techno
  3. the first sample sounds quite good, on the second i find the vocal a bit cheesy, but the music is still nice. i'm looking forward to more samples.
  4. 1. i very rarely use the integrated arpeggiator. making a midi loop just gives me much more flexibility and is easier to use. 2. just one track. my cpu can't take it when i have more than 80 channels in logic and i don't see any advantage...
  5. 1. it's all software. 2.-5. i've never played live 6. yep 7. no hardware synths 8.-13. i mix only in my DAW 14. i start with kick/bass and melodies, add pads/... and then sequence it when i have sufficient material for a whole track, adding some additional effects and details at the end. 15. no hardware 16. i don't dj. that was quick
  6. totally awesome. the new album is going to be great in any case, but additionally i've wished for their old comp/vinyl tracks to be re-released for a long time. and additional unreleased material makes it even better. thanks for asking imba.
  7. absolutely. i usually like to keep everything in midi, but with diva bouncing to audio is the only option more or less....
  8. is it april 1st? apparetly not, so: NIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIICE! :D
  9. exactly. i'd still classify blue planet as good album of old electric universe, but the following 2 were just mediocre. and cosmic experience includes two tracks (morning star and the prayer), that'd easily make it in my 10 best fullon tracks list . but anything after cosmic experience…
  10. i'd hope so, it's about time. i expected the summer of 2010 the be the great one (after all 1968 + 21 = 1989 and 1989 + 21 = 2010 i finished university but won't start working until autumn, so count me in. let's hope for nice, dry festival weather, overwhelming popularity of good psychedelic music (has to be goa trance ) and revolutionary new drugs, as has been the case in 68 and 89. well, we'll see…
  11. this one gets better with repeated listening. my favourites are 4th dimension, frontline, knorrar and the title track. imho it's definitely one of the best non-goa albums that has come out in the last years.
  12. i used to be a great proponent of abl, but now i'll find myself using phoscyon much more than abl. both have a distinct sound and are good for different purposes. imho abl has a rougher sound and ecxels at agressive distorted acid riffs, while phoscyon sounds cleaner and smoother; i use it for those fluid squiggly acid lines. for other synths it of course depends on what you've got, the functionality, which synth is easy to use for you and of course if its distinctive sound sounds good to your ears, etc.... but for true analog goodness i haven't found a plugin that sounds as good as u-he diva. i'm totally in love with it .
  13. the second version sounds better production-wise. but i like the slower more subtle melodic elements in the first one better. in the second one the main melody imho gets annoying after a while.
  14. I think cybernaut fits in here http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4UlCGWWA-4I but that's not a hard find, as they got two tracks released on a goa label.
  15. who says that trance musicians don't record what they play with the synth/midi-keyboard? i certainly do. and editing your recorded tracks is also pretty normal for studio albums of bands with acoustic instruments.
  16. i guess any regulation of the economy is always controversial in the US
  17. i'd like to think so (and the measures the eu took certainly softened the immediate impact), but do you really think we've reached the peak of unemployment? i fear the 25% will come soon enough (spain is there already). if you look at the graph at page 3 the trend seems to point upwards still.... the neo nazis rarely have below 10% in my country (owing to the fact that they're not as open about it in public as the greek ones, they're closer to 30% than to 10% acutally), so i'm not too shocked by that.
  18. china is even better. the buy u.s. bonds for the dollars they make with exporting their products there. and now they made enough money with that to go shopping for companies/know-how in europe. apperantly their didn't really learn anything from it. we had the start of the financial crisis in 2008 and still no "new new deal" in 2012. another fine example of austerity policies failing completely is germany from 1930 until hitler took control. luckily the greeks show a bit more sense when voting than the germans did back then.
  19. nice. the track in the first post sounds just like old mwnn.
  20. sounds good! chynacid is my favourite of your projects. looking forward to it.
  21. same here. interesting that the people with boring start pages also have no picture besides their name
  22. nice! i'm impatiently waiting for the mothership to arrive and a big thanks to dreake.
