Dimension 5 Etnica Mind Warped Blue Planet Corporation Union Jack out: talamasca, they made great music back then, but now everything that comes from him is crappy cheesy fullon.

Ka-Sol Etnica Sandman Blue Planet Corporation Union Jack out: botfb, because none of their tracks really stood out for me

i used to play FPS with only the keyboard all the time and was quite good at most of them (quake 3 was a bit too fast for keyboard play but unreal tournament was no problem). since most modern FPS don't support keyboarding (or precise enough movements with the keyboard) anymore i've stopped playing... console controllers are even worse than the mouse.

Pandanandi - Psychic Mothers (Rough Mix)
Padmapani replied to Jason Pandanandi's topic in Free Music Promotion
agreed. sounds nice is and different to all other newschool goa and reminds me of old stuff very much. i immediately though "nice kick" when pressing play. imho the kick could be a bit longer, have a bit more low and and to be a bit quiter i think it's nice as it is but the individual sounds sound a bit "narrow" to me. i'd either add more layers or let the individual elements take up more space in the mix as to make it sound full and complete, but i guess in the final mix everything will sound like it should. -
he has potential for becoming an internet meme

Spiritualism and drugs in the psytrance scene
Padmapani replied to djmaxfactor1995's topic in General Psytrance
i haven't found a good source on the web. just this paragraph from a random website: (whoops, i mixed up krishna and shiva here . i thought shiva played the flute too?) i guess i heard about the story in a interview with anderson on some jethro tull dvd... -
well, the most important source material for mdma synthesis, safrole, is harvested from plants growing for instance in the cambodian rain forest. and with buying mdma you indirectly finance environmental destruction, corruption and violence where the safrole comes from. but on the other hand buying cheap clothes is likely just as bad...

Spiritualism and drugs in the psytrance scene
Padmapani replied to djmaxfactor1995's topic in General Psytrance
ah, thanks for the clarification. i always thought that that was only the ultra-orthodox hindus wile the majority would be quite relaxed with it. but i see it's a touchy issue, after all they even accused ian anderson of mocking shiva for standing on one foot while playing the flute... -
sure, it's not particularly good though. i was just having fun with samples from the sketch. indeed most sounds except the obvious are taken from the sketch Beware, 180BPM ahead!

Spiritualism and drugs in the psytrance scene

agreed 100%. i used to think that too, but i've changed my mind about that when i visited india. the people there use the religious symbols and names/images of the gods all the time for the most mundane things. you'll have a guy called ramakrishna going into the shiva-train-station to buy ganesh beedies from the hanoman-tobacconist-store. they use religious symbols all over for "good luck". i'm sure that 90% of hindus wouldn't object in the least if they knew about the use of hindu references in our party culture. i even suspect that the local population in goa played a major role in how it has become the way it it. -
haha, same here. i just couldn't get it out of my head, so i built a trashy tekno track around that sample, and it has been gone ever since and doesn't stick when i hear it again
-
yep, sounds pretty close to UX. i think only the video is from 2010, and the track is straight from 1996 or something
-
i agree with elysium here. neogoa reminds me instantly of neonazis (being the most common word with the neo-prefix over here) everytime i read the word. i like the term newschool, simply because it sounds fresh and exciting , but i'm equally happy with just calling it goa. but hasn't this whole terminology debate already been done to death a few years ago?

Any information about new Ra material
Padmapani replied to zenobyte's topic in Artist News and Labels announcements
nice! i've been waiting for the 3rd ra album ever since i got my hands on 9th -
i voted both, but i don't think that night music should necessary be dark. many of the best tracks are neither dark nor light. i find for example D5- Deep Space 5D, Hux Flux - Reflux, MWNN - Teleport or Morphem - My Plan, not to be dark, but to me these tracks are definitely night music. what really bugs me out is that at most parties they still play night music (often harder and darker than before), when it has become light again (say, at 5:00am), but only switch to morning music after the sun has already risen.

reminds me of that one: http-~~-//www.youtube.com/watch?v=U17J_BLUusw

i'm doing that at the moment and i'd agree. pointless thread, there's nothing wrong with goa

I just got my shipment today. Exodus has cracks in the case, while Visions of the Past has the teeth broken off, but Back to Space is in perfect condition. also there was a huge rip in the side of the package; i could nearly take out the cd's without even opening the package so i'm just halfway through Back to Space and can already say that i like it a lot. quite trancy with epic, warm, intricate soundscapes and a thankyou to suntrip for (imho) not posting the best bits as samples, leaving us with a pleasant surprise when hearing the full tracks for the first time
-
sure, and of couse i am grateful for free net releases. after all goa trance is still scarce material; i think now that we get more releases than a few years people are becoming more critical, simply because there's more music to choose from. concerning the artists blackstarrfinale and arronax have some very nice tracks, while pharaom and sky technology are prime examples for the music i'm criticising. of course it totally depends on personal taste and everyone will categorise the music differently. i'd even put filteria's heliopolis in the same category as pharaom and sky technology while i think that daze is a masterpiece
-
i know exactly what you mean. a lot of recent releases (it was much better just two years ago imho) sounds very similar. the recipe seems to be: 1. take arabic or gypsy scale, 2. make a random (whoops, i probably should have used another word considering the other thread, but you know what i mean) melody with notes on most 1/16, 3. add fx, 4. Tada! instant win goa trance. there are notable exceptions though as rotwang has mentioned (actually i think there are a lot of exceptions). cronomi and suntrip are least likely to release such music (suntrip more so lately) while free net releases are usually the worst offenders. but i don't think it's due to your perception. for me no music comes close to goa trance and about the only time i'm not listenening to it is when i'm producing (exaggeration, but not too far off ), and i still see it the same way...

according to darkarbiter's argument, can we agree that darkpsy is about as random as karlheinz stockhausen?
