  1. just woke up. its a sunny day! Progression Sessions 6 - live in USA Boston by LTJ Bukem & MC Conrad to get some nice grooves...
  2. I never got into Hux Flux - Cryptic Crunch. It sounds a bit like random synths with no driving concept behing them. No focus, no groove, no warmth. Dunno...
  3. hehe, you are right. Its like we are waiting for Playstation3 or something. Its just a cd!!! No big deal! Just get it released and not giving out tiny bits of info every two months!
  4. hmmm... the shpongle website says the title is "Nothing Lasts...But Nothing Is Lost" but Solstice and Twisted.co.uk have just "Nothing Lasts" I prefer the big one! Lets see...

  6. ...just to get us back on topic, how would you classify Behing the Eye, the trance tracks in Rave Missions (especially vol.3)? and what about Paul van Dyk's Seven Ways album? I would say the first could be just called "trance" and the second "progressive trance" maybe. anyway, the whole subgenre thing is a bit confusing, even though it comes naturally when you want to classify things in your head. I dont agree with Ishkur in many of his categorizations though...
  7. Don't you just love it when you just go to a party with no expectations at all and you end up having one hell of a night? Well, thats what happened to me yesterday night here in Utrecht anyway. The party was organised by Kaleidosphere and it was an ALL women dj party!! I have to admit I was pleasantly surprised, we need more women djs, most definately! The line up was Mars (9 lives of Hofmann), Viris (Psylosophy), Eye-Riz (PsyFi/Nexus), Shaktycat (Kagdila records). A really nice touch was the live electric violin played by Rachel Grace (a bit too loud and dissonant and out of sync some times, work a bit more on it its a great idea!). The music up to 4 oclock was in the borderline of progressive and full-on psy with heavy psychedelic layers and melodic synths on top, sounding like old skool psy coming back in full force (a bit clubby at times I must admit). After 4, the sound turned to the usual dark/hard stuff which I dont dig that much. There was also a bar/chill out area, playing some mid/downtempo stuff, nothing incredible but really useful to relax a bit. All in all, the music was really great (hey, at least in the dancefloor, it might sound a bit dull or boring at home) the electric violin was a very nice touch giving a more earthly feeling to the atmospheric/futuristic sound of modern psy and the dj mixing was spot on (perfect beatmixing and timing, a couple of dissonant mixes). Keep it up girls!!!
  8. ...anyone else going to the party from the Netherlands? Lets hook up and go together!
  9. I totally agree, worst track of the comp...soulless & random. Such a shame.
  10. woohooo!!! party time!! I'm in Utrecht so I guess its around 2 hours by train. I'll be there!!
  11. also try the "Freekstyle" compilation released by Blue Room
  12. ...wasn't that interesting? Come on guys, Epic Hair, Oscar, Lost and Profound are real gems! Overall one of the best psytrance comps in a long time.
  13. Benza has become one of my favorite producers since I bought his first album. Judging by the samples this one sounds even better!! Can't wait!
  14. yeah, thats the impression I got too. 8 tracks with 12 interludes in between and returning themes and melodies. I like the concept!
  15. Quoting dusk : Sadly folks, the Shongle 3 release will be delayed. We set Calx some 3D work to do on it and he has blown the deadlines to shreds. Simon P goes to South America for a month thursday, and that will slow the process down also. Lets hope there's good internet connections along Simons tour route. At least another few weeks i'd say b4 the packaging could go to production. .........
  16. he is very calm in that interview, very much like simon posford in an interview I heard a while back...
  17. hehe! MUCH better!! if you have Labyrinth, then Navras and Mona Lisa Overdrive are taken from the Matrix soundtrack (edited for the album)
  18. nice review Brett! will have to snap this up asap.
  19. I had a listen to the new Benza album samples over at saiko. Sounds amazing!!! I really loved his first album, this guy knows what groovy psychedelia means!! Can't wait for Retrofuturism!! Also: 3rd Ear (Doof + Earthling chill album) Western Rebel Alliance (lets hope it gets released this year...) Jens Buchert - Sunrider (its out but haven't got it yet)
  20. For me, this and Juno's new album are the best psy-trance releases of 2004. They will definately age far better than most of the rest releases of 2004.
  21. Banco de Gaia is one of my favorites! Especially The Last Train to Lhasa and The Magical Sounds of... You could also try Taruna, he has two albums out already, World Fusion I & II. Very interesting stuff. Especially his second album is very nice. For a more chilled experience, also try Aluna - For the Love of the Deep Blue Sea.
