Looking back later I do think this album is very solid. Liquid Flow has had awesome tracks on compilations. To mention some, Overdose, Synergy, Reformation, also the EP, Goa Terminal, was quite good. All of these tracks have definitely carried expectations for a full album. How good could he actually get? The tracks here are good, even very good, but the problem is the diversity is immensely lacking. Every track individually is good, but when you're trying to listen to the whole thing it just won't work because they all carry the same formula and the overall sound seems on repeat. Definitely room for improvement for a next album, needs more maybe key changes, a couple slower tracks, some experimentation. Either way this is still a good release, the old school spirit with all the newly found power does carry over, no kidding, but it's just not something you should expect to listen from beginning till the end on one go as it will grow tiring. Even so, as I said, the tracks are actually good, they have tons of raving fresh power and I have to take my hats off to that. Best described with the words Ultra and Neo. The whole album is definitely strong party material. Melodies are not exactly hit and miss, but there's definitely some better than others. Also one thing that is kind of a big part of the same kind of sound are the basslines, they aren't bad, but I think it's one reason why everything sounds so samey. All in all, with all said and done, I'd recommend checking this album out.

Since I've been lately looking at a new pair of headphones, I am wondering what do you people use to listen to your beloved goa and psytrance(ok ok, ambient/downtempo too). Speakers, Headphones, Sources. Also I think this could be a nice thread for suggestions for people who are wondering what to get. It's so easy to google "headphones for-mostothergenres" but here is where the search hits a wall. It's either electronic overall or the more known sub-genres, but hardly ever for the music the psynews people listen to. There really aren't that many even electronic enthused audiophiles who's opinions would be gold worthy. I think we could have a thread dedicated to just that. Though I don't know how extensive are the common pienewser experiences on good audio quality equipment, can't hurt to have one of these though. And don't be ashamed of cheap ones, I think we've all been there, honestly. And if you feel like upgrading, you're free to ask and hopefully someone can answer, or if not, you can always check out tons and tons of reviews on head-fi. Like I did. For main usage, I bought Koss Pro4AAT headphones almost 2 years ago for a nice ~60e price and I thought they were pretty good, but as they indeed were so cheap and do lack in many regards(I always have quite a bit of EQ tweaking on, it just sounds completely flat without any. But when I have the EQ they sound actually very nice for psytrance, but that's about it, not much else sounds that good. They do need an amp to drive properly and very bulky/weighty so I wouldn't suggest them, honestly. I believe there are much better phones for the same prices.), I'm now upgrading to Ultrasone HFI-580's 140e-200e with a 200e budget. These headphones actually have quite a bit of "great for electronic" comments, with special mentions to the impact of the bass and good trebles(For me nice coloring > neutral, precise sound), but I will post my impressions when I get them and burn them a while. Edit: I actually decided to go for the tad cheaper HFI-580 over the 780. 50€ is a lot of difference for the quite small sound differences. My speakers are.. small, for a reason though. there is not much wall separating me and my neighbors and I'm not one of those who wishes to really disturb anyone. Creative Gigaworks T20 S.II., I researched quite a bit and I think they sound fantastic for such small and compact 2.0 speakers. Also just plain good size, I got like 20cm room left on my desktop after I put these there. Would recommend if you are looking for something more compact with great quality and a nice price. Works well for any music really, imo. 60e-100e. Source PC, Asus Xonar Essence ST soundcard. ~180e, pretty expensive but the best in the biz, for headphones at least. Though I don't think it's going to be enough for like 600ohm headphones. For outside portable use, it's the definitive Koss Portapros. ~20e Can't really go wrong with them imo, except if you reeaaally don't like to disturb others in which case you need to lower the volume quite a bit, or you are just too much of an audiophile that you need bigger and better, but otherwise they're just so mobile, cheap and have good sound quality. I used to use the Koss Earplugs but I don't really enjoy having stuff in my ears anymore. Works just well for pietrance and all other music. Go on, share yours.

Who wants to make a Suntrip T-Shirt design?
Penzoline replied to Anoebis's topic in Visual Promotion
How long till you choose one? I may try something on ps -
Well if someone else takes psynews in control then they may as well make a new off-topic and the activity might increase. Of course he needs to bear in mind on what happened to psynews because of offtopic a couple of times.

Yeah but the problem here is LOTR movies were actually good..
-
Lost was great, mostly at least. Been watching battlestar galactica lately and it's freaking awesome. From anime, Gundam 00 and Full Metal Alchemist were very good.

Wow.. this can't happen.. I'm not really interested into switching to isra for various reason. Also the other English forums are even less active than pie and then there's all the others with different languanges. Psynews is the perfect balance. Problem is how underground the genre still is and how enthused the small amount of people talking about it are, it would suck balls if I couldn't really talk about the genre even on the internet for cookies sake. Having real life enthused discussions about goatrance is not exactly something that will happen. I could fish a job as a moderator(I have previous experience on this) for a team if someone wants to take over.. Oh and I don't think the admin should run a forum like a moderator and someone who tries to do everything by themselves, sure if they can, why not, but otherwise that's why you have moderators who can and want to spend the time. The only times the admin is neccesary to make a visit is when the moderators require the admin, i.e. when the shit truly hits the fan or other important stuff - and maybe it's good to check in once in a while. And also never expect moderators to stick around years, they do it for free and out of love and do eventually get bored/distracted, that's when you let them go and pick new one's. The Admin does need to be very dedicated though, tons of activity isn't required but otherwise they shouldn't leave after a mere year because they can indeed decide how to run the site and do all the critical stuff. Also the amount of history is something that at least should be preserved. Just look at all the posts dating back to early 00's!

Upcoming GOA releases on Arabesque
Penzoline replied to Penzoline's topic in Artist News and Labels announcements
Yeah I found that weird, as well. Oh well, it probably is a mix-up. -
Nice review, cocco! Glad someone made a full length review. In my opinion Psycrise and Cyclone In Your Heart are the best tracks from Crossing Mind. Amazing melodies, very gripping, psychedelic and unique. Otherwise I quite agree with the review. The only problem with this release is that it feels like a compilation rather than an album, but that's completely understandable from where it's coming from. I never listen to it from beginning to end but half and half sounds much nicer. It has also grown on me a little, starting to enjoy all the details in the tracks. Also the album art is just epic, I love it.

Nice to see you review again. And yeah I do agree about the mastering here though, it could have been better, would have done more justice to these awesome, awesome tracks.

What music are you listening to right now?
Penzoline replied to Sputum Rotgut's topic in General Psytrance
so amazing, goosebumps everytime... -
omg omg omg yes!

I see! I wish I could use amazon occasionally but they require a credit card which I do not have yet. I'm only going by discogs for older releases. And yes I really want a nice collection of my favourites since I listen to goatrance so very much, the music has helped me so much.. On that note I did manage to grab The Prophecy for a fairly nice price, now I have the full MFG trilogy

Public Service Announcement - Walter Bishop
Penzoline replied to BraneFreeze's topic in General Psytrance
Samples in psytrance I believe -
Well knowing the tracklist was enough for me, personally, but I see your point.

Apparently they are out now at suntrip. Could mars or anoebis actually take pictures of them and add them on discogs. I'm interested in the small changes, the remade Apsara and also the whole different cover for Opus Iridium. Also you guys should have made a couple of physical copies of the Filteria - Remixed Either way as soon as I'll get money I'll be ordering Apsara, Twist Dreams and Khtezal. Finally. I seriously think 60e for Khetzal - Corolle, a 2005 release, is just too much.(Goddamn discogs)

Where exactly are you finding such nice deals?

Promo copy for free-digital? waaat? Nice review, very glad about mindsphere, but I want to hear this as well!
