The most complex goa trrance was written by Etnica/Pleiadians
Penzoline replied to radi6404's topic in General Psytrance
Title is accurate enough but as mentioned Maia is the pinnacle creation of theirs. One day I wish to hear a new school artist as sophisticated as they were in their heyday. -
Goasia - Amphibians From Spacedock (SUNCD33)
Penzoline replied to Anoebis's topic in Artist News and Labels announcements
Great that's how it should be! -
It's a shame what happened to the background synth pads on Travma. Those synths are why the track has such a swooshing atmosphere and here they sound peculiarly quiet because of the emphasis on the kick as it drowns it out. I actually prefer the muddiness of the unmastered brick wall mp3 you can find floating around because of that sole fact. You know for some reason this same thing happened with Travma - Tesla; the bassline on Space Of Power sounds too loud(bringing out the mud it had anyway) again in comparison to the unmastered version. Sometimes you can leave the basslines in the background, guys! Some tracks are just meant to be tinny like that! Also I think Travma's tracks have had generally the worst luck when it comes to representation. His other tracks were on such belovedly wonderfully mastered albums like.. Alternative Colours... Pyramidal Trancendence... Suncokreti... really what is up with that?!? That's like the holy trinity of brickwall. It's a great track though, very metaphysical-era-balls-to-the-walls kind of goa. I was hoping Travma would have continued to put out such masterworks but his last release was.. full-on-oh-well. Rest of the comp is pretty good too. It has a lot of styles from the new school formation. From darker goa of Shidartha to a super bright track like Astrancer and even a little crazy like OGO. Actually for some reason I'm starting to grow fond of OGO's sound a lot. It's super silly, but it works! It sounds fun, like it doesn't give a crap. Another good track he did was a downtempo track on Galactic Discovery called Mystical Forest. Really weird but good stuff. Wish they'd give a break with these covers thou, I mean damn!

Actually yeah, the Ovnimoon Rigel album is fantastic! I really hope they are creating a new trend in psytrance with these albums.

Which one did you get?

You live in cali and have speeds like that? wot This thread reminds me of how incompetently slow our providers are at adopting to cables/Fiber. Adsl is expensive, slow and it's 2014. It's about time for the providers to give people proper deals to get better speeds to their homes, goddamn.

I know the bpm is still high but the rest of the production sounds much calmer and carefully laid out. This track sounds very old school to me. It's not all in the bpm, you can still make high bpm music have a nice rhythm going on with everything else tuned down some imo. I just wanted to point it out since it struck me so well. On the other hand I've been going through some of my collection and it's true 90% of the bpms are around 145~ bpm. It would be interesting to see someone come up with a new school goa album that has a max bpm of ~133 or somewhere like that and tries to play around more with rhythms and less so on the never ending climaxes.

Albums from the last 4 years no one seems to know about
Penzoline replied to Ormion's topic in General Psytrance
This sounds very cool. I'm gonna check it out! -
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=k4OLfgiM4rE Brand new! You are absolutely right, slowing the tempo, or pace in general, makes wonders on the way a track sounds. Much more psychedelic, it suddenly has a nice groovy rhythm which makes the body move. Super fast sweeping melodies and tempo are definitely instant gratification that benefits more as a climax from a slow buildup rather than something you need from the get-go. I can't believe I didn't account on it before! I hope artists start to play around with this concept more as I can only see good things coming out of it!

dat last track. Super old school style with all those superB slinky wizard-esque sounds, fx and just overall production. Paced a lot slower too which makes it more psychedelic and the bassline is just lovely. I wish it wasn't so predictable in progression(typical modern buildup) but this is tasty stuff! Damn!

Mellow Sonic - Dreamcatcher (2014 Album)
Penzoline replied to mellowsonicsound's topic in Free Music Promotion
It's really similar to Cybernetika dnb albums but with a different flavour, not so noisy. Stuff like Icarus, Pandora, Sapphire and dreamcatcher are just fantastic. Really, the whole album is great. -
This slow enough? At least the progression takes it's time. I can't really think of much from the top of my head. Though I agree with what you're saying. I enjoy the many facets of what goa can give and it did get very homogeneous. However there has been some evolution past few years, so it's not as bad as it was. Though it still needs to be much more psychedelic that what it generally is.

Goasia - Amphibians From Spacedock (SUNCD33)
Penzoline replied to Anoebis's topic in Artist News and Labels announcements
Well no 1 track isn't a big deal. If the artist wanted it on it then there's not much you can do is there, just would have preferred material that isn't on a physical format already. It's a collector pet peeve really. I like exclusive comps. -
Call of goa and Colors of goa encapsulate really well the theme of old school compilations series. Really liked those.

Goasia - Amphibians From Spacedock (SUNCD33)
Penzoline replied to Anoebis's topic in Artist News and Labels announcements
Will be hard to top Dancing With The Blue Spirit, hope it won't disappoint! Been waiting for this one. Otherwise I don't really like the cover(Esp compared to the other 2 albums) and I would have preferred if you chose something from Unvisited Galaxies EP rather than Sundance as it was on a CD already. I really don't see a point in releasing same tracks on many albums these days since CD releases are so few and far between anyway! : / -
I'm glad I'm not the only one with this. Just something magical about stumbling upon a sample. Well I always google the words I recognize. Looks like that one is from Animatrix. Psydb.net used to track samples used but I think the owner stopped updating it a long time ago. http://www.psydb.net/samples/

It sounds so vintage it transports you back to 95 really well. The atmosphere is palpable. I really liked this one.- 1 reply

Everytime I watch a movie and hear a part that was sampled(especially if it's in a good track) it sends shivers down my spine and I always get this weird grin on my face and a fuzzy feeling. There's just something about this cross-media thing that I enjoy very much. It's almost like a sense of discovery. What do you guys think about encountering samples in movies or TV shows? And have any of you watched movies because of samples? I've done it a lot (First one was the infamous People Can Fly sample). Maybe not so much when it comes to boring or generally bad tracks, but if it's a good release and a good track that I've played a dozen times then the samples always intrigue me enough to at least look up the movie and if it seems interesting I'll watch it.

Cruise is such an incredible track. Those subtle wall tearing acid segments push it above and beyond. Rest of the album is absolutely great too, although a couple tracks lose my attention faster than rest. Still to think this was my first introduction to Solar Fields and I haven't even commented on it is a little weird. I would like to hear more mid-uptempo Solar Fields in the future.
