  1. Oh my, how I disagree! Imagine the 909 replaced by even just a 606 in that track, it would be perceived totally different. Gear + creative style + (technical) workflow creates the sound of an artist, if one of these things change, his or her sound changes.
  2. Well if you did maybe you could argue about it. You mean FX from a DAW? Effects are an other thing, I'm talking about synths. And no I personally don't, in fact the knowledge that you can "create the magic" makes it even more magical.
  3. I love analysing tracks actually, it's one of the things I love to do when making music. Figuring out how and why certain artists use this and that sound. I'll repeat myself again: I never said that software is superior to hardware, but there is no doubt that there is a difference between the two, in both the technical and artistic aspects, and that these difference defined certain era's and genres. Have you ever compared a software filter with an analogue filter? o_O Sound is everything! It defines you as an artist - it's the same as saying that colours don't matter when you're painting!
  4. True, I didn't say the opposite. But plugins can't produce the same sounds as analogue instruments. They can emulate it, sometimes in a pretty good way, but it's not the same as an instrument where voltage flows through the circuitry, where the unexpected can happen. If software sounds "good enough" for you, then yeah, no reason to go analogue. =) To me it's a matter of taste, not showing off.
  5. Great news indeed, looking forward to their vision of morning music.
  6. None of the oldschool artists would have their trademark we know in sound if it wasn't for their hardware. Pretty logic, I think.
  7. As I said, I could be wrong. I don't follow this 'phenomena' to the fullest so maybe I'm missing out on something... Some posts look like troll posts to me. Anyway, it's for the music that I'm registered here, I shall move on.
  8. I think that you misunderstood me, I know nothing about this person and it's not really in my interests to post personal stuff about him (I wouldn't know what)! I just think it's a bit silly, some guy pretending to be Bulgarian with terrible English grammar transforms into a German typing English fluently, and suddenly some one else pops up having the same kind of weird conversations. I think it's strange that I'm apparently in the minority thinking that this is a tad suspicious, but maybe I'm wrong.
  9. Great, thanks, that's the mission!
  10. After a quick listen: there's some original stuff in here, with a bit of a tribal feel. I think you should accentuate that more, add more variation in percussion (in the different types and structures). Pretty good job so far!
  11. ...except that the first VSTi was created in 1999, and that tracks with such a kick were created before that. Didn't you listen to the example? Why don't you bother to post yours if you're so sure?
  12. A 505 sounds more like a 707 (or is it the other way around? ). You mean attack probably? That's a totally different sound than that Disco Volante's track. It's a 909 (probably) with something sampled on top and processed most likely. I tried to recreate it once, I think it worked out rather good, take a listen: http://www2.zshares.net/q1tnfxwxb65l.
  13. Oh come on, I can't be the only one who can see through this?
  14. That's most likely a supersaw all right. Not that difficult to recreate with the right gear, why?
  15. Thanks guys! I really appreciate the feedback. There are some tracks that will probably see the light this year on other platforms than SoundCloud, criticism is always welcome.
  16. In 2013 actually, but on an evolutionary scale that's pretty close! Great, thanks for the support.
  17. Come to think of it, I've been searching for a long time the origin of this very nice voice sample: It's used in a lot of tracks, not only goa but also techno for example. I think Astralasia also used this sample, as well as Asia 2001 - Buddha Compation (sic). It's probably from a sample cd since it's been so widely used, but I can't find the source. "Please hear my anguished Words of Truth! Karma in an Ocean of Joy. We are drunk with the Moment's Delusions. Blinded by longing, hatred and ignorance. What is right and what is wrong?"
  18. Indeed, very nice stuff, didn't know about that one!
  19. Fuel On is just spot on (har har har...), definitly one of my favourite tracks from them! The remix of Slinky Wizard's The Wizard is also in my list of favourite tracks http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CTC2qamCqNs
  20. Guess I can post it here now since it didn't got selected for the Psynews contest. Dragon Twins - Kess Killya?! (soundcloud link) Only analogue sounds in this muthafucka!
  21. Indeed, something most newschool lacks. That's why we like goa trance, amirite?
