Mmmh ... the average lifespan of a CD is 30 to 40 years (considering that you store them in a dry and medium-temeratured environment). Will that be long enough that you can still listen to it when you're "old and grey"? I don't have so many CDs ... I didn't count them, but I'd say I don't even have 100 of them (including tapes!) ... way too few for the music freak I am (but don't think I download so much, I do it occasionally, but I'm not that kind of Ninja-downloader with dozens of gigs of music). So as I don't have many of them anyway the chance is small that I haven't listened to some ... well, there is one I know which I haven't listened completely through yet, but I look forward to doing that when I have time and am in the mood...

Well, define trippy ... but I prefer the dancefloor killers. Please, don't get me wrong ... I don't mean full on! But I would for example rate the mad drum orgies of Etnoscope rather more "dancefloor killer"-like than trippy. And I love that kind of shit, so I prefer this over trippy

Fortunately this doesn't occur much to me, but oh yes, I hate it. The equal Entheogenic - We Are One and Ott - Smoked Glass And Chome sample is a bliss killer ... though Entheogenic distort it upwards, but I still recognized it and it's just shit. It's one of the reasons why I don't like Glass And Chrome as much as it deserves ... because I already knew the sample. The best would be when artists make their OWN samples! Yes, their own. Recording their voice (or the voice of a friend) and repeating it then through vocoder or something like that. By doing it like that we wouldn't have many similar samples anymore ... except when you take it out of a film, but then it's intended that people know the sample already.

Booklets ... oh yeah ... If psy cds had bigger booklets I'd certainly buy more. Because I love looking through the booklet when I listen to the music. And as psy doesn't have many lyrics I'd say the utmost ultimate killer best would be a booklet with A PICTURE (of course as big as a page) for each track (good metal albums have a page with lyrics for each track ... so in psy I want a pic on each page for each track ... and one that fits!)! Damn, nobody is doing that....

You have connections to austrian scene? Well, I guess our Atma is not too well known, also rather new to the scene ... I don't even know if I already have seen him djing or not. Actually he called himself Atekk but a friend of him proposed the name Atma at the end of 2003 or so ... dunno why... He's a member of Soundwerft prod (party organizer). If you want killar kickdrums (based on Ukiros definition, I confess I haven't heard that expression before) then I'd say Etnoscope. They have mostly deep and pounding kickdrums, very deep. I love that. Very earthly feeling if you know what I mean ... like ... if nature had a kickdrum it would be a deeeep and pounding one. One that doesn't sound synthetic to me (and a deep one ("poum!") does sound less synthetic than a "bam!" one I' say ... or is that just me). Though I love the "bam!" ones too sometimes Duh. But Etnoscope have good ones

Yes. This is IMHO also the reason why new styles and hypes are "born" every few years. Trance and psy and all that is a music that needs to evolve and evolve and it can't stay the same, because after a certain period of time the things get boring because the music is in itself a more or less simple conglomerate of sounds and basslines and one day you simply have enough of "always the same shit". I'm with delars concerning prog and scando forecasts. Except that some prog will merge more and more into house directions (listen to Vision & Canedy - Privileged, then you know what I mean) ... in fact it has merged quite a bit already ... Acan for example, a resident DJ on the vienna Suntribe psy gatherings is more and more spinning in "ordinary" house clubs ... and the whole suntribe psy style is moving more to prog/house, contrary of fullon if you know what I mean. Bleh, I can't project local developments in my town on the whole globe, but still, you know... And yeah, Astrix, Skazi, Yahel and IM will soon scratch the popular surface and will become "stars" (if you know what I mean) and their music will storm the charts and clubs and in the end we'll have a bunch of brainamputated idiots in our clubs jacking off to sk4zi and all those killargh clones and we won't go out much anymore......... lol, hope it won't be like that

It's not that messed up as it sounds. Unikos has put it well: If you want something really fucked up, then check out noise ... Brighter Death Now for example ...

I don't know "Backlash" ... but I was going to recommend Frontline Assembly. Check out more of them You could also check out Front 242 ... especially Front 242 - Headhunter 2000 (Frontline Assembly Remix), I think that's a fucking great track (brought me to Frontline Assembly (and the whole style at all)). Maybe Project Pitchfork could also be something for you ... but I don't know much of them, that's definitely not one of the main recommendations I would give... Hope you find what you're searching for

Hm well ... I guess I had pre-listened those earplugs you talk about at a friend once ... and yes, they were the only ones that didn't fall out It's good that I now know the model number, but ... hehe, it's too late. I already bought headphones. And for those who want to know which ones: it's neither the philips hp460 nor the neckband ones ... the philips weren't avaliable and the neckband ones I didn't want. I got totally different ones: the Sony MDR-V150. Some people might also know the MDR-300 ones, the 150 ones are exactly the same except that they are not foldable and that the colour is black. I didn't buy the foldable ones as I break them anyway (I know me ) and because the 150 ones were just 25 Euros (30 Euros cheaper than the 300 and they have the same sound ... this world is fucked up). Yeah and I can say so far that I'm really satisfied with them. The sound is incredibly good, even better than on my previous philips hp550 ... sometimes I even hear more synths in a track than before which makes everything a whole new listening experience! And the bass is really nice too (not phat, but nice!) as the speakers are placed closer to the ears than it's the case with the philips hp400 (the specs don't show so much differences!). I already tried them out with several types of music (tribal psy, scando trance, ambient, dark ambient, black metal) and they always had the same good sound (at least for the money I paid for them it's marvellous sound!) ... I'm really satisfied. And sweat is not really an issue as the Sony have a same dense spereating material between speaker and ear like the philips hp550 have, so if I sweat really much or when I clean them with wet paper towels there should be no danger that the speakers get wet inside due to the dense material!

The longest one I have here which isn't already mentioned is Klangstrahler Projekt - Rising, 14:18 long. I think it's their best piece btw

Oh no, no earpluggies please, I can't wear those, they always fall out of my ears! Really, my ears seem to be somehow misformed for that type of listening experience, no matter what I try, all earplugs fall out after a short time ... and having to put them in again every few steps is annoying, I already had this problem The behind-the-neck ones sound like an okay alternative ... I must say that I never really thought about buying those yet as I was always of the opinion that the bass support wouldn't be too great with those, but I looked them up at the Philips site and the specs seem okay. The good thing is, that I've been checking and they are avaliable in the same shop where the HP460 are, so I can try out both before buying The Technics ones are one of my wet dreams, but they cost over 100 Euro ... I'd in no way be able to afford those ... as I said above, quality begins at the double amount of money I am able to spend Plus I would not use them for running. If I paid so much money for headphones I don't want to make them all sweaty and that ... I sweat more than a normal person, so when others say they don't sweat much it doesn't mean the same for me <EDIT>: That's true, but if I buy headphones with soft material the sweat will probably be sucked up by it like a sponge ... by that they are likely to start to reek earlier than the ones with the leatherlike earpads - there the sweat isn't sucked up so much, it just rinses down. Plus I already tried the HP400 ones for running (they have the same earpad material) and the fit was perfect (crap was only the sound, you know)...

Yes, this is another topic about headphones. I need new ones. Seriously. Because I'm running with them all the time and they get all sweaty and meanwhile they reek already (don't tell me now to clean them, I fucking bathed them already in water several times, it still gets worse and worse, I'm having them for about three years already ) ... and they aren't suitable for high summer temperatures as my ears get soo hot with them on ... I want new ones. PHILIPS SBC HP550, that's the model I have. I can't find it anywhere to buy anymore ... but I don't want new HP550 ones anyway, they're too hot for the summer. I already bought another model - Philips SBC HP400, light ones and actually not even so bad for running (they fit well, I wasn't sweating so much with them and all that), but the sound, it was worse than crap. Bass support about beyond zero, synths so overdriven that they hurt my ear (I turned it up real loud 'cos I wanted bass!)! No, that's nothing for me. I mean, the sound wasn't even that bad for other music that does not focus so much on basslines, like metal or so, but I want the headphones for running and for running I need psy! So I sold them again and spent the money on beer. But that didn't solve my problem in the end. I'm now still searching for good, cheap, quality headphones. The point is that they should not be expensive and still they should deliver a good sound. And a fairly comfortable fit for my head ... but they may not fall off while running, my god! I don't expect the bass as phat as with the HP550 ones as I want some that don't press on the ears so much to have ventilation and not to sweat too much under them, but they should deliver a good, heavy bass-supported sound (I don't want Etnoscope drums to sound like somebody is knocking on the outside of the headphone speaker )... I already thought about buying the Philips SBC HP460 ones: Specs: 15-28.000 Hz, Neodym drivers, powerful sound. Anybody has experiences with those? Good/bad? Or does anybody know a better model (nothing above 50 Euro please, I have no money (the prob is, that real quality begins probably at the double amount of money, eh he ))...

Earthtrance. That might not be the most brillant one, but it was the first goa compilation - actually the first goa CD at all that I bought. Got it for two euros (no joke) in a box with dumping-prize-items at Libromania (that store doesn't exist anymore). That CD has a very special meaning to me, therefore I say it's the "best" IMHO ... it was my first encounter with the Man With No Name, Banco De Gaia, Eat Static and several other tracks which are nowadays reagrded as classics

Well ... back then I was mostly into the early Dream Dance compilation series ... with artists like Sven Väth, The Visions Of Shiva (How Much Can You Take?), Energy 52, Oasis, Disco Citizens, Paul Van Dyk, CJ Stone (Tower Of Naphatali), Chicane... A bit later I had a Dance To Trance and DJ Quicksilver period ... which then led into trance music of nowadays until end of 2001 as I discovered psy - fortunately...
