    GOOD POP MUSIC

beh ... if we are already there, one more: (with subtitles) ... may be a little NSFW, but the music is a.w.e.s.o.m.e.o.

    GOOD POP MUSIC

By the way ... this is popular pop ... and it's damn awesome. Scary actually, because the song is full of strange meaning if you understand german ... Falco died a short time after finishing that one... I like this:
  3. OMG you know AIGEL? Respect! AIGEL is one of the best bands I know. I love her vocal performance ... it's so awesome. Here's one more: The best is "You're Born" though. I have not yet met a band that can actually portrait my flight anxiety in sound and screen. AIGEL did it. This is masterful ... the work of genious minds ... makes me feel so good... HOWEVER ... you are kinda missing the point a little I'm afraid because it's good music - or are these "top ten pop songs" in other countries? Then my theory would be correct indeed and I'd confess myself 100% guilty for liking bad pop music - if I don't understand the lyrics

    GOOD POP MUSIC

I was so free and removed the vids from the quote - save bandwidth, save Co2 Great selections though @Basilisk And yes Ladytron is great. It took me a while to get used to, but I really like them - and also Marnie's sideproject. Not really "popular pop" though...

    GOOD POP MUSIC

No - on the contrary ... first this inspires me to a story, second to a confession. One after the other. So I have been on a forum in the past - great times - there was this one guy, a black metal fan - I assume, because he had a strong love for Akercocke - who _convincinly_ posted, that Britney Spears is an alien or a speical lifeform and that she communicated with him through his dreams. And the point is, he didn't just ramble on like some lunatic, there was a spark of genius in these posts, some elements that made you think, wait, not only is this guy for real - what if she really DID communicate ... it was really well done, including elements that were shown in videos and statements to the public from her that he claimed were done for him... Like I said, great times Slight problem is, he anchored Britney Spears for me to these stories and claims ... and there's this fraction of a thought left in me that says "what if it was true?" ... I was very much into "secret signs and symbols in popular music" back then, found a series of videos, long ones, that explained the signs and symbols and boy oh boy, we are doomed, that's what sticks... My confession? I really, really like Lady Gaga - Telephone ... that is a damn awesome song Hate the video though. Too many breaks that cut the flow. But that song, damn it's good. I have not yet heard a modern and "super-well-known" pop song that sounds better. The only better songs I know are from Michael Jackson and Falco ... and maybe Madonna... Interestingly, the rest of Lady Gagas stuff is ... not that stellar ... but that Telephone song is genuinely awesome... Ah well, can't let you go like that, can I? Here's another one that I love to death: hee hee
  6. Etnoscope ... used to do drums, now they also do singing...
  7. You are funny. Of course there's name collisions. There's a 1000 people out there called Christian, just to name an example. Such collisions are prone to happen. All of that wouldn't happen if you enhanced your name with for example an Ethereum address. You can be AION 0xDECAF9CD2367cdbb726E904cD6397eDFcAe6068D (address just an example, please make your own Ethereum address, this one is taken, please don't send any ETH there, it's not my address) Nobody could copy you, because you are the only one who's got the private key matching that address. If somebody wants proof, make them send you some ETH and you send the ETH back. Voila. And the other guy should go and make his own Ethereum address. No more mixing up! If you used that format, you'd also have a donation address right there in the name... I would, however, try to win the mexican AION guy over - and for example make a collab track? AION vs AION
  8. @frisbee great choice, I always liked the old Antix sound @Multi-Media I like Element quite a lot ... yes, the Willkommen track is very good, I listened to it on a Goa-Head compilation and liked Element since then
  9. Cool, I didn't know Andromeda and Chromosome were related. Chromosome made one of the best S-Range remixes out there and it even fits in here:
  10. Sublime thread! So, I think you're a bit more after the melodic and a bit trancy side of the old progressive (like Human Blue) - not after the kind of "hard bangers" that I posted in the other thread ... sure I could come with some Patara or Hatikwa now, but "imma keep the flow" of your conversation: Of the old ones, I can throw in 12 Moons and Matenda: and of the newer ones, I can recommend you the upbeat side of Solar Fields: Fun fact: all three of these artists have an ambient side. 12 Moons = Healer, Matenda = Chilling Matenda, Solar Fields = Solar Fields
  11. Hi ... well, if the name is not a trademark, there's no law violated. Few people will do this, but here is some info if you want to protect your "artist trademark": https://www.musicindustryhowto.com/how-to-trademark-a-music-artist-name-a-step-by-step-guide-for-musicians/ so ... you can be a bit angry, but there's very little you can do actually - or also them. It may then just be a case of "who screams louder" - or who's got the better community to battle it out for them. In reality, however, one of the two parties will respond by choosing another name because everything else is just too much hassle. I do think, though, that if somebody can come up with an official release that is older than your release, they should have the right to use the name. Sure you can just go ahead and use the name "Gaiaga" - and I doubt that Filipe would have contacted you and demand you to rename yourself if you had done so (not you, KER, your mate) ... however, with all the talking here I suspect Filipe will now have an eye on that and defend the Gaiaga name ... if he's mean. (He reads these forums for sure, even if not as an active member.) I would agree that Filipe should damn well go and use another of his dozens of aliases, because so many artists names is just lame ... but if it comes to a dispute, he can prove he used the name before ... it's unclear what will come out then. So the best is go talk to Filipe, write him a message and then you'll know it's either fine or not. I am puzzled how it is so important and / or difficult to find an artist name ... I can come up with almost a dozen in a few minutes: Aknitrash Bintrikkus Chaddastric Feed Dattrik Pentecus Evenizaph Flanellator GantriK Haar Sachatzzu Ingenious Irdengrum Jolt Bolt van Overholdt Omburg Urgenheim ( <- for darkpsy?) (don't wanna bore ya...)
  12. @recursion loop MiKro MaKro is very good @Multi-Media the artists are posted on Soundcloud in the "track info" ... so I did not have to guess, however: I confess I'd NOT have guessed those. By the way, I fully share your opionion about the "Psycore/Hi-Tech" subgenre ... that seriously is something I don't need - and I am saying this without any negativeness in my emotion. On the contrary: whenever I nowadays visit a party that has a Hitech floor, I go there, look around, get a smile that goes bigger and bigger, shake my head and I then leave, muttering like an old grandpa, saying: "kids these days" ... because I am amazed at myself how little I understand this music
  13. I would ... but aparently there's nothing here anymore
  14. sounds great - I'll be very keen to hear that once it's ready

Yeah, please, no 80s or 90s ... or I'd spam everything with Falco Let's say it should be after 2010 ... if it's more recent: even better
  16. Thank you for the links - super helpful big cheers

    GOOD POP MUSIC

Hi, title says it all. I want this to be a counterbalance to the utterly paralyzing horror of the "german top10" thread. Sprouting from that counterbalancing idea, I'll give you the best GOOD (but apparently little known) austrian pop song that I know: It's full of jokes that only Austrians understand, unfortunately. But I hope you recognize the structure and good execution if you don't understand the language. What GOOD pop songs do you have? Bring them on PLEASE
  18. @Padmapani Ö3? Horrible radio station. Ö1 is much better (when they don't play opera). Best is: Technikum City. But you can't get that in Linz, right? However, you guys got some good slangsta artists over there as a counterbalance... Anyway. Want rant mode? Or a "who's got the worse pop song" contest? Well. "Give him a taste, Patrick": It's just shit. The guy can't even speak properly. I can't listen to this shit more than few seconds without losing my insanity. There is actually no point in arguing about this type of pop music though or trying to understand the "mass" of people that "like" it (I put the like in quotes there because I dunno, maybe they don't even like it that much but they don't know better?). I tried to understand them, several times, but I failed utterly. I'm seeing the positive in it: I'm glad that it exists - it gives a good filter. I'm not interested in normal people. People need a certain amount of insanity - or, say, peculiarity - that I like them. The ordinary sheeps that are manipulated by mass media and therefore are excessive consumers of ordinary pop music _and nothing beyond_ are mostly as uninteresting as watching a puddle of water dry up. I therefore mostly ask people what music they listen to ... and then I see about the answer. Many times I can learn from it aswell. I have come to the conclusion that there is no bad music - except pop like that... ...speaking of counterblance. I'll make a counterbalance thread. Need this now before I go crazy. Edit: thread created: https://www.psynews.org/forums/topic/76276-good-pop-music/ "Des Anzige wos I wü is a Käsekrainer und a Bier..."
  19. I can maybe give you an argument, even though I dislike this music that you posted - but the reason why I dislike it is the key here: I understand the lyrics - because I speak german - and that's bad for me here. Because the lyrics are shit! The lyrics of these pop songs are generally shit, that's the problem. But: melodic structure and beat are ususally not even that bad. I have to admit, I do have a fancy or two for this "commercial" stuff sometimes - but the lyrics annoy me to death ... sooo: what to do? Simple: switch to foreign pop songs! Here's a taste for you - an especially peculiar one, because that video has even been recorded in germany, but the lyrics are completely different: So: can the reason for these songs be that people who don't understand the lyrics - i.e. people who don't speak german - like them? Because you have to admit, there is a certain fancy for german lyrics out there in the "market" - not always for the best reasons though I'm afraid...
  20. Hey, that sounds good actually ... and you have my attention. I even looked over now to see if I can donate a little BAT to them - unfortunately they aren't in the BRAVE rewards program ... that's too bad, honestly
  21. @Multi-Media Panzar Produktionz is unfortunatley defunct (as you said, last post 4 years ago, that's also what I have last heard), but at least their material is still online and you can legally distribute it for free, it was all even released under CC license I think. Artists are gone to different labels. Rasmus Alanne from Pusherstreet continues to be active with his main project Etnoscope and has done some cool tracks on Soundcloud, you really should check that out... Hmmm ... some examples of today's progressive? There's plenty ... in fact so much, that I am struggling what to give ... good ones, bad ones? Rather more close to psy, rather more close to house? I guess I'll just stick with what comes to my mind ... here's some newer stuff of some "former greats" - and a remix: Even though, I still like the Atmos and S-Range track and the Shiva Chandra & Brox one. Most of "progressive" just sounds all like plastic to me nowadays. Even these tracks that I posted here. Also others, like Symphonix, Neelix ... they all have the same beat. And the effect "tricks" they use are also the same - and there are so many breaks, it's appaling ... I never was too much of a fan of effects that break the structure (as said above, plase minimize distractions) and nowadays they are used in HEAPS. In the past, it was "which track of these relatively good ones is better" - now it's: "which of these mediocre tracks is less dull". Edit: By the way. Look what I found today. This is a gem - an old collection of Atmos tracks, mixed by the man himself. If you want to see what I am looking for in psytrance, here is it: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AqeUmZeq4g4
  22. That's a good mix, but it is already falling into the period where somebody began to pour in large amounts of fabric softener into the "progressive lake" ... I'm saying "began", because in fact, in terms of nowadays they all are quite good tracks to me... However, what I am rather looking for is the period before, where progressive was (I'd say) a relatively new style on the psytrance roster and was harder, deeper, darker and had more zest, with even less focus on melody. I think if it was produced today, they'd call it some form of techno, not "psychedelic" ... however, it is. Here's three tracks I would pick covering that zesty side ... difference should be significantly audible: And THIS is what Panzar Produktionz aimed to bring back - as said, they did it not 1:1, they created their own style, but it was definitely closer to this type of progression than to melodic fabric softener type of "prog trance"... Got any modern artists that sound like that?
  23. Nah, I think it's off topic - I'll kindly move the thread there. You should found a cryptotoken for this. MDMA would also make the perfect abbreviation for a crypto. Maybe make an ICO and let investors profit on the outcome = profit payed out per token? Or was that a greedy statement to you - if so, think twice: I think it would be the fairest move, because you can also make ordinary people benefit from the profit and not just pharmaceutical companies ... ?
