That's some big ("fat") slab of writing 0wnage right there above, sir. Brilliant! Anyway, I don't wanna interfere with your Bioshock playing -- go on with it, great game And: cool, I didn't think I was actually even a little bit older than you, Ormion. I thought I perceived you kinda as a "part of the inventory" here already since the beginning. Insejn, by the way, too ... but he is really here much longer than me. Too bad you can't find the post anymore
-
Yesss, yes I can! I'm so glad it still exists. I never bothered to merge my member name as it was offered, so you can't find it by looking for RTP. I had to scan through by hand, it was a helluva work. Here it is: http://www.psynews.org/forums/index.php?/topic/2893-minimalistic-psy-need-advice/ I got pointed over from Tranceaddict. That was a cool forum, but I haven't really been there in ages. But it didn't matter because I found this place here That has been more than 11 years ago. Shit, time passes fast...

How can we make Psynews more active? Post your ideas/opinions.
RTP replied to Ormion's topic in Psynews.ORG
The last few inputs are something well worth to consider. Thanks for the contribution. Can't say anything more definite at the time as I have merely been thinking about that right now myself, just reading the input, but I do say that I like the idea aswell -- and a lot too. We'll discuss it with the people involved and we'll get back to it, that's what I can say -
Concerning games, the older days were the best imo. The first Unreal Tournament game was one of them that I loved most, also because of the soundtrack. I mean, listen to this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1oE8heI-Ozc The point is that it made playing (and killing) not looking that "ultra cool" or whatever. The music was even relaxing at times (well, not that particular track -- and some others also not, but still). It made the game feel smooth and made me have a good time. And then there was Oddworld. Awesome ambient soundtrack, awesome graphical pictures (although 2D, but that didn't matter back then) ... what you want more? The point with the soundtrack was the high level of integration. It changed during action phases and always felt very fitting that way... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SwSVs1wC8B8 By the way, on checking for Oddworld soundtracks I came across the news that they are going to remaster Abe's adventures -- good news for fans About the more modern games ... there is Mirror's Edge that has an awesome soundtrack -- which is mostly due to the fact that Solar Fields composed it ... and the guy has a hand for making good music, both ambient and upbeat, just as the gameplay needs it. If you want to "play" a Solar Fields track that's the way to go http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4776DKJnV9I And then there's my last contribution to what I like best -- the Elder Scrolls series. Actually I love all of their newer games, but Skyrim just has the most massive main theme. Jeremy Soule is the composer (and he also was the composer of the scores of the previous games) and I just love his stuff. It's practically classical music, but in an ambientish way, without the load of different sounds that classical usually had and which kept me from liking it. thanks to Jeremy, I begin to understand this music now too So ... my neighbors listen to this whether they want or not: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Bc9ZuSmb1BU

Nice design I would rather prefer shirts from labels or artists though -- that's what I would pay money for. Or tie-dyed ones, but I'd rather make these myself (even though the last time I tried it looked horrible )....

I voted 5. It's quite in the middle on long-term average. Back in earlier days I'd have voted 6 or even 7, but nowadays I'd rather say 4 or even 3 ... so I think, 5 is a quite solid average. I hope it will not go below in the future though. Although I did a psychological test maybe a year ago ... and there they said to me that the "satisfaction with life" (happiness being a part of that) that I have is really low (such as maybe 1 out of 10) ... they were slightly worried about me. I don't know. Maybe it was just stupidly chosen questions, I don't perceive myself being that unhappy. Or maybe it's really that bad and I just don't realize.

Don't feel awkward, just go. Act like you're a swimmer who's going to training. But you also should consider if there's a better opportunity. Rivers and lakes in the urban area where swimming is allowed are a good choice. The likelihood that more people there are alone is also greater (maybe because they don't live too far away and just go for a swim when nobody else has time -- like me ), so you don't feel so awkward. Or try hotel pools. Many people do business travel alone so it's nothing awkward there to be at the pool alone.

Read this if you find yourself stuck in the mobile skin.
RTP replied to Rotwang's topic in Psynews.ORG
Well, practically it should allow that. At least it allows to change the code that is already there -- every part of the skin can be changed that way and, I guess, also the workings behind the "change theme" thing. So it could be made real -- in theory. Obviously, it's asked for to put a link with that above syntax in place somewhere into the mobile skin so that people can switch back, right? The tricky part is obviously to get that "somelonghexadecimalnumber" thing right. And I have no idea yet how to make this... -
besides the usual "dance like nobody's watching", I learned: + Nag Champa incense goes very well with cigarette smoke (in fact, it's a totally different aroma than either of the two) + half a dozen methods how to smuggle my booze past security control (here I have to say that I love whisky and they never serve good one on parties ... so I just have to smuggle it in) + about as many possibilities how to improvise earplugs ...

17? I discovered goa and visited my first goa parties at that age. Koxbox / Saiko-Pod, the first live acts that I saw. And I discovered this forum. Great times indeed But with girls, had no effect on these. I don't look bad, but I am a nerd and I am strange sometimes ... and shy. Girls didn't jump on that. => by the way, edit: if you wanna know what my first post here ever has been -- at the age of 17 of course! -- it was this thread: http://www.psynews.org/forums/index.php?/topic/2893-minimalistic-psy-need-advice/ (yes it's before my join date -- never synced the accounts ... took me some time to find it ... but I came across from the Tranceaddict forums and I found that post via the post date on TA where they sent me across )

I would say that the small metal piece would get carried away by the current rather than atoms being removed from it... Any even if you fix it with something, the cohesive forces in a "small piece of metal" are quite large. The chance is much more likely that the current will break / interfere with a larger metal object before doing the same with a small one. Don't know if that explains it right. But a large object will break more likely than a small one...

That's really sad ... my condolences to his family and friends. "Just tell me why Why it has to be like this That the good ones disappear I'm asking you why..."

Thanks ... I ain't gonna remove the post though. Fine when the background color works. Hope it'll stay that way.

I don't think the poster wanted to signal that the sites here are infected themselves, to me it rather seems like he would want to say that people reading these sites here took his opinion not to their liking and began to get active against that person themselves. And that's something we can not know. We neither know what precisely was going on, in this case where a "hack" is mentioned. Neither do we know who it was or what other processes play a role in this. In the end, it might even have been totally unrelated to the forum or any activity here. After such acts, I can only understand the reaction. But try not to become paranoid and blame things that might be either unrelated or where there's no point in changing them anyway. The forum here is such a case. Not only are your posts archived (even though you are now filed under "guest"), but the archiving websites out there still know everything about you here as a member. The net doesn't forget. If I were you, I'd just let it continue, maybe separate the channels that connect the profile here to your PC/system/data etc, but still let it stay, even when it means you can only post from internet cafés...

Atmos - 604 (Iboga Records 2xCD) - OUT NOW!
RTP replied to pr0fane's topic in Artist News and Labels announcements
Well, let me say that this is only fully right when you consider that the tracks were not released on CD before ... because, well, it's not all _new_ tracks The album is by no means bad though. I like it. For the details, here is my review I just put on here: http://www.psynews.org/forums/index.php?/topic/65352-atmos-604/ -
Atmos - 604 Label: Iboga Records Catalog: IBOGACD83 Released: Nov 2012 This is a 2CD release. CD1: 1. Resign Riot 2. Soundglider 3. Began as another 4. South will rise again 5. Ensemble of the Eclipse Bunker 6. Where do I belong 7. Only for you 8. Horizon of the pickled coffin 9. One you need 10. Twin Reaction (So Italo mix) CD2: 11. Only for you (Phaxe rmx) 12. Horizon of the pickled coffin (S-Range rmx) 13. South will rise again (Phony Orphants rmx) 14. Transport Another (Yotopia rmx) 15. South will rise again (Gaudium rmx) 16. Human Element - Subsequent Connection (Atmos rmx) 17. A whores divorce (Dominic Thomas rmx) 18. One you need (Dominic Thomas rmx) 19. Soundglider (Human Element rmx) 20. Where do I belong (Martin Roth rmx) ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- It is a clear sign that I am working too much when I start missing an Atmos release. Such almost had been the case this time. Well, fortunately it didn't come to that... Me being a big fan of Atmos should not need too much introduction (keywords "Bad 2 The Bone" for "46daz" (actually "46@daz", my bad, but let's leave it at that) anyone?). In fact, I am such great a fan that I didn't buy the 2nd Brigade album and also kept myself off listening too much to anything of it yet because I want to keep it as a last escape when I can't take it without Atmos anymore ... then I'll have that piece. Hope that's enough said now. So you can imagine how happy I was when I saw that the newest installment is actually a 2CD release. I think I actually lost some screw caps of my chair in the process... Anyway. Atmos (aka Tomasz Balicki) should need no introduction. He was making his own style progressive trance from beginnings such as Klein Aber Doctor over the albums Headcleaner, 2nd Brigade and Tour De Trance and is "in business" since many years. And especially the last album got me totally hooked. So now there is another one -- and it's a 2CD release. What does it bring us? Well, first it has to be said that only the first CD is containing tracks from Atmos himself (the actual album, so to say). The second CD, as you can see above, contains remixes of many tracks from the first which were done by many other artists ... and also some new stuff, some even by Atmos (or his alias "Dominic Thomas") too. But that doesn't make it bad in any way. Let's go through the tracks: It starts off with "Resign Riot", with a beginning like coming from the intro for a news show on TV. Okay, maybe not exactly, but I could well picture this being in something like that. If I had a news show (Psynews show ), I'd pick this intro. Apart from the fact that it maybe puts you into the action a tad bit too quick (I'd have a more gradually building intro song in mind, like on the last album...) there's not anything I'd want to change. It's good. And also apart from the intro it's a nice tune. The atmosphere is clear, open, a bit shiny and generally motivating for what's to come. Well then, on with it. And it continues with ... hey, isn't that something familiar? Well, it is -- "Soundglider", from the equally named EP. Indeed, the same track. While the track is not bad (it actually even is quite good), it still leaves a bit of an impression of things that already were. But that's exactly what it is. Anyway, it's good, a well-paced and groovy construct with some dragging synth effects giving a bit of a "gliding" ("Soundglider", duh) impression, where the short break in the middle doesn't interfere with the structure. Fine. Up next is "Began as Another", which also recalls some familar-ness in the sound. And indeed -- remember "Transport to Another"? It's the same sound, same bass, same effect. But this time it's not just plainly the same song. Well, it is in some way, but what we have here is a rearranged and enhanced remix ("Re-Processed", sorta ... hehe). What I find good, is the woman's voice and the mastering of the song in correspondence to that voice that gives it a very interesting atmosphere altogether (at least on my stereo -- but I don't know if it's just the murky sound processing I have). And that really makes it more than the sum of its parts, worth to dive in thoroughly also if you own the Transport to Another track already. And then it comes. "South Will Rise Again". This is a bit of a strange tune, concerning the title. I remember this almost same track (differences in bassline and difference presence of the lead melody effects (probably different mastering and synth settings)) under a different name, which used to be "Defending Team". What's up with that? Well, basically it's "Defending Team". And I personally love this song so much I can't find anything bad in it. This is a damn fine tune, best to run to in northern landscapes. A very addictive acidic synth loop is present in large parts of the track. I remember listening to the original "Defending Team" as I was going over Lofoten Island and just as this incredible pinching effect of that main melody comes in again after the speech sample, we were at the very top of a bridge with a view on the land around us -- there was no damn finer place to be in the world at that moment. This perfect timing has practically embossed the tune into my brain, giving me the urge to proclaim an instant like at the fact that it is released again practically under a new title. Oh yeah, "Defending Team", be prepared -- "South Will Rise Again"... After that it's time for the "Ensemble of the Eclipse Bunker". A pushing track with a bassline that comes across quite hard and decent. And that's what it makes the whole track. Very progressing, very strong. In the middle the melody comes in a vibratingly chopped manner, enhancing the drive, then breaking it up and and later embedding into it. An interestingly progressing track, very nice, but it should be said that it was released by Twisted Records in November 2012 aswell. The next one, "Where Do I Belong" is a great track. Nevermind the beforehand release on the Transoprt to Another EP, I like it. I like the samples and the rhythm. This has great structure. There is always something going. Be it one of the absolutely addictive voice samples or a nice synth bleep or what seems to be a rhythmic breath, all engulfed into a synthetic atmosphere of modern soundscapes. I like it a lot. Then there comes "Only For You", which interestingly differs from the Atmos track with the same name that I already knew. The difference is only minor though and seems to consist in a what seems to be a wobbling bassline. It's a song to shake your booty to, but don't get over excited or your belly fat will start to wobble like the bassline. There is no need to get over excited though. The track is known already and although the melody gets nice with a very original touch to it, it doesn't really let one take off because of excitement. But the track is actually quite nice. Only question is whether it is exciting for you or not when you know the original already. And then there is ... the "Horizon of the Pickled Coffin". Wait a second. This track is actually a new one! Nothing is known before (unless you listened Atmos' previews on Soundcloud, but let's make these not count). Yeah, this is nice, giving the fan something new in beteween. It's not bad. The song is good the progression is there and I like the synth effect that is present there, it is a cool sound and a deep one. The song lives quite good off the progression and what's there alone, but to make a really good piece there's a bit too little beef. Still, thanks for the unreleased track. It's a fine thing to have an unreleased and previously unknown one on an album every now and then (cough). Of course, the unreleased track has strained our listening capacity, so we get now again something we already know. It's "One You Need". A slower piece with the characteristic being that the melody itself consists only of one main synth tone. It's not even bad, better than it sounds, as the tone serves as melody and rhythm giver and I am actually a fan of that where you actually can't distinguish between the two. But to really deliver it would need some more... Up last is "Twin Reaction (So Italo Mix)". It's an open and trancy mix of Twin Reaction, a tune that's also known. An open and almost calm piece, nice and quite smooth, with distinct-ness in the melody. The latter is not unknown, but least the piece is listed as a remix now. Anyway, very nice closer of this first CD. So, the overall resume of the album until now would be that it is a nice accumulatuion of tunes, but people who already own some or all of the numerous EPs released by Atmos on Iboga should check if they don't buy too much stuff they already have. It's a bit of a pity because I expected more unknown stuff and that's a bit of a downer, but I don't take it too hard. The music is good and it's nice to have this collection of tracks at home in physical form -- and there is also another good, if not great reason: the second CD! The second CD is actually better than the first. I am not wanting to discuss it track by track ... but it already starts off with the Phaxe remix. This one is awesome. Much better than the original in my opinion, great progression and better integration of the playful melody things. It doesn't twinkle and glitter as it appears in Atmos own piece, it has more structure and progression here. And then you have S-Range himself delivering a mix for the Horizon of The Pickled Coffin -- and even though I like the original better in that case, I find that fine. And then there's two remixes of my beloved "South Will Rise Again" -- one by Phony Orphants and one by Gaudium! That's plain damn awesome, you know. Phony Orphants bring the main melody and the whole thing altogether first in a totally different focus before then going back to its roots, Gaudium overdrives it into the other direction then, showing what intensity this monster actually hides. Also, Yotopia kicks it with Tranceport to Another in between the two ... making the tune an altogether better one in my opinion, using the classic formula "wait before the melody comes in the last third" -- in this case it's effective. The three tracks that follow where Atmos himself does the remix follow, nice work. Interestingly, "A Whore's Divorce" almost reminds of more classic Atmos style (especially in the main part concerning the repetitive and "deep" trance characteristic) despite it's a remix by the alias Dominic T. The "One You Need" remix was part of the EP too by the way. Afterwards, Human Element and Martin Roth then both round off the release with their contributions aswell. Overall? Well, I like CD 2 better, mostly because it doesn't contain a heap of tracks I already own, but only one. Other then that, the three "South Will Rise Again" tracks really contribute to why I do like the release quite a lot despite containing a heap of tracks I already know. I do hope that this style of re-releaseing stuff doesn't continue though. To fans can be said, if you own the Atmos EPs that were already release on Iboga, I doubt that the piece is worth so much. Better go into the store and buy what you don't have in digital form. Hope this was of help to you Atmos freaks out there

Please read and respect these rules/guidelines before posting new reviews. 1. Please use the appropriate release year before posting . If you're posting in a "multiple year" thread (ie. 1990-1994) then specify the release year in the thread title. 2. If you're an artist / label that wants to promote a new release please use the "Promos" group and not this one! ANY promos found in the reviews section will be moved and the one responsible for it warned. 3. This section is for psytrance reviews and psytrance related genres reviews. If you want to discuss the best releases this year, what albums should be considered "classics", the reviews section layout, the quality of reviews, the latest Tool release, want to request a review, etc. etc., then please use the General or Off-Topic sections of the forum! This is intended for psytrance music and subgenres so no reviews of parties or other music genres. A bigger tolerance will be allowed for old stuff (stuff released before 96) since back then there wasn't an "official definition" of psytrance. Also chillout/ambient genres are allowed as per usual. 4. Before posting a new review, check if a review of the album hasn't already been written. If it's the case then write your review in the already existing thread and do NOT open a new one! Finding older topics should be easy, use the "Search" function: type part or the whole album title and don't forget to limit the search to the subforum of the year you want to post in. If you're starting a new thread for a compilation then you should ALWAYS write the title under the format : "V/A - Name of comp". So that all the compilations will be easier to find. So do NOT start a topic with "VA" (no "/" between the V and the A) or "V/A :" (":" instead of "-"), "VA Name of Comp" (no "-" between the V/A and the name) etc. 5. When opening a new thread put the name of the album and artist in the topic title and make sure it doesn't have any typos (or else the search function won't work). If you made a mistake, you can easily re-edit the title by using the "Edit" button at the end of your post, if that function is not working, then use the report function and report your topic to moderators asking to correct the typos. 6. The new psynews staff has decided that first review, or first post, should always be longer than normal. This doesn't mean an essay by any means. A nice example of a short but still informative review would be this which is around 400 words long without release details. People come here to read about the release, to get some information how it is and stuff like "this release is killagrgrhrhrg" won't tell them anything. After the first post you can post mini-reviews and discussion if you so wish, but no derailing of a thread is allowed. If you feel so strongly about something that does not generally have much to do with the release, please make a thread in an appropriate section and stop posting in the review thread. 7. Personal grudges against artists or reviewers are not welcomed and will be deleted and might lead to moderation so try to use your brain before posting. If you have anything to say to the artist or another reviewer you can always PM (Private Message) or e-mail them. 8. When you open a thread please include Cover Art, Tracklist(preferably with track lengths), release date, label etc. relevant information regarding the album you are reviewing. Also it might be a good idea to include links to shops that are selling the release. 9. For color or size codes please do not over-do with them and remember this forum has 2 skins so the color white won't show up on another and color black won't on the other. Also remember to clean up font formatting that may be carried over when copying your review from one site to another. For Image usage, it is allowed to post images or gifs in reviews but for images try to keep them relatively small so it won't make the review look cluttered and cause problems for readers. Here is a few well made reviews that should give the general idea on how a review should look: http://www.psynews.org/forums/index.php?/topic/54395-crop-circles-tetrahedron/ http://www.psynews.org/forums/index.php?/topic/56930-fragletrollet-playground-of-spirit-shaman-film-records-media/ http://www.psynews.org/forums/index.php?/topic/54539-solar-fields-movements/ http://www.psynews.org/forums/index.php?/topic/55427-filteria-daze-of-our-lives/page__view__findpost__p__930470 Happy reviewing!

Radi, in our TV, when they wanna make it sound "ethno" and modern, they play Thievery Corporation. Not what you like to be recommended here, eh?

Well, not a bad idea, let's turn this thread into something else while we're waiting. The discussion about DS seems just right because it's something you don't expect. You would expect naked women or something like that ... but this? It's almost creative. But for now, I think you should all go drink some coffee Oh and before somebody asks me for a medical degree, I just want to explain that this was my 2 cents to bring this back on topic ... so don't take the above too seriously. I don't have the time to lay out my arguments for the next 2 pages straight ... THANK YOU Mr. Jisnego for this: I don't even find the track so bad even though I agree that it's not very epic or anything. Anyway, I too think it won't come. And with "it", I mean the album. at least it won't come soon. They're just going to stretch it out so long it will be released after the "era of albums" so to say. I mean, released at a time where albums are not so much looked after anymore. It will come when nobody expects it. That's how it's gonna be. And then, it will not interest many... But for now it means wait.
-
I see the decision's made and I fully agree with it. Good luck
-
A nice track with some good progression ... and it also has got the direction, doesn't leave the listener in mindless intensity. It gets better and better and the last third is really good. Only question to me is why it takes ages to get there I give 7.5 out of 10. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JHI1TBCz09I

^ this. The problem is, I live in a loud house. I hear the neighbor when he's shitting. What's really awful though is, that I hear them snore too. No joke. there's times where I hear people snoring. In the house. It's totally awful at times. Earplugs do take some of that out, but sometimes there are cases where I can forget it because it just goes through (or it goes via the vibration of walls and not the noise itself -- yes, I am sensible enough to notice). I have been to the point with the noise where I was lying on the couch in the other room, earplugs in, then headphones above them and playing running water sounds (for hours) on youtube just to make me sleep ... which eventually worked, but not for long. The problem is, the noises aren't even loud ... people would laugh at me if I complained. But it causes a lot of stress when I can't relax That leads to the fact that I suffer from insomnia every now and then .... and I had it the week before again and had to get some benzos from my doctor again to make it go away. Fortunately I have already been off them again, so it was just a brief episode... So ... when I don't have insomnia or anxiety attacks in the night that keep me awake - one of which happens every two weeks or so - then I just lie down and am asleep in the next 15 minutes. Sometimes ambient music helps to fall asleep even faster. I used to do it to Sync24's album Source pretty often. And when I did it, then I usually didn't even get past the second track before I was gone. That's when it goes well. Sadly it doesn't always...

Maybe try Padmasana -- as a recommmendation for something similar to Ishq... Also: I second the recommendation of Banco De Gaia.
