What music are you listening to right now?

In Your Phaze - Butter Backen -
So meanwhile even the longest sleepers have realized that it's 2011... And it's just the right time to wake up and celebrate because the newest Panzar Produktionz release is out! That's right. Nine new tracks fresh from the roster, available now! Can you believe it? What I find the most awesome is that these guys really are keeping it up! Maybe you remember that in December, I posted news about Tank Fuel (PP002). Okay, I was not really in sync with the date it came out as it had been available earlier (and I already had listened to it and found it so good that it deserved a thread ), but still, not much time has passed. Yet the cool thing is, the new Tank Fuel compilation is actually even better than the first IMO! The style is great as always, the quality keeps improving - seriously, this is stunning! The guys must have been working hard this winter. It's a firm sign that there is not going to be any silence in 2011. And it further fortifies Panzar Produktionz' position in the international community and this label's big significance in the current new wave of underground old-skool Progressive Trance music. I don't want to throw big words here, but that is really how I see it. The great Progressive feeling from back in the days is coming back thanks to these guys People who know what Panzar Produktionz is about will love this (I do!). And the people who don't know should get it immediately and listen what's up on the progressive front these days! It's free and it's quality, what are you waiting for? Get it from http://panzarproduktionz.com/Download.html Full support for Panzar Produktionz! You have mine!

I understand what you mean, however, because of the fact that not even so much is live in a "live act" these "live sets" tend to become DJ sets of the artist's own tracks ... and in this case, it then gets good again! The best example of a disadvantage becoming an advantage

Hi people I'd just like to share what I recently found... It was by accident, one song on Youtube got my attention and then I did a bit of research and found ... Strange Zero! Two guys from greece, making electronic music ... most of all primarily ambient I'd say (yes, there is even the CBL acid ambient style in it I'd say), but they've actually got plenty of styles, plenty of variety... and these guys have now put their whole discography online for download! I really love their music, listening to it since a few days and it's great ... perfect for me. I am a big fan of Carbon Based Lifeforms and I find some of their beloved acid style in the music of Strange Zero ... paired with a panoramic epic-ness at times that really is one of a kind to me. This is a great band! And even greater that they put up their music for download. this is cool, check it out: http://www.strangezero.gr/ Here is something to listen to ... this song was the one that got me hooked, from new 2011 EP "Future is a Choice You Make" ( free release ) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qNOSSjOGa7U What do you think?

Atmos - One You Need (Iboga Records)
RTP replied to pr0fane's topic in Artist News and Labels announcements
I'm a huge Atmos fan ("Bad 2 The Bone 4 46 Daz" ) and I got this one now ... but I also have to say it's not really that good. This sounds like one of those tracks composed in an afternoon. Interestingly the Dominic Thomas Remix is even the better track on the release (oops, "Dominic Thomas" is Atmos ) After all I will probably even listen to it often ... but it's nowhere near the tracks on his last album. If you want to get something off Beatport, get the Tour De Trance Bonus EP! Much better tracks there I'd say... -
Doctor Who Spongebob Squarepants Dr. House Scobel (<- great german TV discussion series!) SNF (Saturday Night Fever ... pseudo-documentation-soap about stupid partying chav youth folk ... terrible, but the best to watch with friends if you are k.o. from sports, you'll laugh without reason all the time)

the best thing in this photo is the flashlight thumbs up, that's needed when one listens to ambient the decent way ... in the night

true statement... I always was looking in the artist news section much less than here maybe this is something to think about that I can get back to some time later... on topic, I liked Blumenkraft a lot, but rather not because of the "pirate tracks". The first one was marvellous. Missed out on Skylon, but sorta heard that it was not that great ... and I believe I even checked some tracks and didn't find them so attractive I hope they do something really good this time again...

yes a thanks goes to Insejn at this point already ... I guess if I were the sole admin it would have been somewhat difficult. I'm looking forward to get acquainted and be of more help soon. Right now I rather feel a bit like I gotta be careful I don't ruin anything, hehe...
-
Same here, I thought they were quite honest and friendly. It's sad to hear that they apparently aren't. Nevertheless, thanks for sharing the stories and informing people... maybe it could begin here? any ideas?

I was so busy this year, I almost missed everything ... everything except the new Etnoscope - Way Over Deadline album. Interestingly it has ten tracks ... hehe ... so practically you could say it's my top ten 2010 ... but that would be a poor statement still, listen to this, pure awesomeness: http-~~-//www.youtube.com/watch?v=JtCN2-HSF3E

This is an interesting thread, because I can't think of any "IFO"'s of other genres. It could be that I just don't know enough about some of them, but all the other genres I have come across out there so far never had a single piece that was so much in focus as IFO is in goatrance. Sure, you have some of the usual group of bands and such to define a genre, but there never is a single piece that a whole genre can attach to. And even though some people dislike IFO, it still is the focus point in the goatrance scene. I'll keep an eye out for that from now on, I find it very interesting...

thanks for the warning, man Yeah, the cord is actually ridiculous. More fit of inears than real headphones... I will take care. People worried about the cord should get the standard edition in black, you trade fancy colors against a better cord. But since I found a cheap store where the LE were almost the same price as the regular, I decided for the fancy color...

GOD FRICKEN DAMN, I am the man! Some days ago I remembered the sound of this act and forgot the name. And it fricken annoyed the heck out of me. I searched EVERYWHERE! Tons of backcatalogues of all dark ambient labels I know. Until I remembered "maybe I posted it here". And so I began searching through the posts here. AND I FOUND IT! Thank you, RTP from fricken 2 years ago, you made my day. Today!

AKG K-518 LE In some reviews, people say their sound is too much focused on bass. I, however, love them. They needed a bit of playtime to get really good sound, at the beginning I got almost headaches, but after two weeks, that's completely gone. Now nothing beats listening to progressive on them. Bass output on some (Panzar Produktionz ) stuff is downright massive! I had Sony MDR-V150 before (still use them) ... they feel like a bee humming compared to a jet engine that the AKG are. Plus AKG is an austrian company Only the cabe is a bit too short, unfortunately. That's when you take the LE. Go for the regular model to have longer cable, but no fancy colors...

well, I was (kind of) unable to post the last days because I burnt my hands due to quite a stupid move I pulled ... but now I think having only followed the conversation a little time was good because well, you guys have probably had the best idea IMO ... and that would be me joining up with Insejn! Seriously, this is absolutely good. I will try to get a hold of him to discuss this.

well, I don't find the newer Gappeq stuff bad. Gappeq is dark for me. It's the alias of dark. If I went to see Gappeq, I'd want dark ... and I want it exactly this way ... just like the album stuff. With the harsh sound and the "dead landscape". The beginnings were different and the tracks you mentioned are good, but I don't have a problem with the newer sound.

I also thought that it was not DDOS. It was some hacks using weaknesses in the board software as far as I was aware of what happened ... I don't know though. It's not the point anyway. Somebody has been attacking the servers. Who it is is a good question. There are people who think it's still Bruce/Jacob ... and there are even more freaked out theories about who these person(s) are... Nevertheless, it seems to get attacked from time to time. And I think that also was a reason for Mars to close down the Offtopic (not the reason, but a reason ... as in: the drop that made the dam break). At least that's how I got it, correct me if I'm wrong. Anyway, apparently there are quite some people up for something good. Sounds quite nice! How about if we throw ourselves together and clarify what we gonna do, who shall run the place (one vs. a group of people) and whatnot. I have reflected a bit myself and I think it would be too much for me to run the place. I mean, I might even be able to do it ... but in the long run you probably will not see the progress some of you (and even me) desire. At least if I keep my job... So what are we gonna do?
-
OK, I understand. Sounds doable actually. Do you currently have mods or do you do it all alone? Because especially for point 3 it would be very useful to have some help... The thing is this: I have a job where I cannot plan my workload well. So it can happen to me that I am at work all day and kind of dead when I come home. It will survive when I am not checking one day, won't it? Next thing is: what is when you are in holiday? Nevertheless you're right, it sounds very automatic. Thing is, I would embrace the chance to contribute to this, to make it better, different. A mere psy news portal is good, but as a whole it would be better if there was more... Ouroboros stated a valid point when he says that to build a community, a place is needed where you can discuss other things than just psy. There indeed are only so many times you can ask the question what goatrance to recommend. Over the years it feels like each of those question threads has practically become an "introduction" thread for each new member ... everybody asks the question once, some good sould provide suggestions and well, that's it But opening OT again is opening the door to a shitload of issues. What I prefer would be some modular structure of the whole psynews construct and not just one forum site. But I can't change the place alone. I only have a limited amount of time and energy I can provide.

OK, I am only posting now because I spared this thread until I have some time to properly "digest" the news It's quite sad that Mars is retiring. I'd like to use this opportunity to say a big, big thank you. Without you, Mars, I'd eventually sit at quite a different point of life, music-wise. So, thanks a huge lot for keeping it up all the time. As for the retirement and take-over of the boards, I'm really kind of excited now because I'd actually be in the position to say yes. I have a job and have not much time because of it, but a recent makeover shows that I do have a bit of time and I can use it for something productive. And it's even better when it is plannable (to a certain extent) like this forum activity because I like when the process is more regular. In fact, I am confident that I could do it. And I like the board. I also like how it is now, without Offtopic, focused on information and news about the scene. I think this is quite important. Offtopic can be discussed on so many other places, I'd prefer if this place here stayed like this now. Lots of scene people coming here, posting news, reviews and discussing releases. It's perfect. I also have technical knowledge. I'm a graduated student of IT. And it would even be good for me if I can use/learn more skills because in the current job I have I feel I don't fully use them. I have often wanted to contribute to the scene, to give something back for the good things I received. I tried to make music, write reviews and such, but the music attempt failed terribly and of the reviews I don't really write many. So? Maybe this is the chance I should take? An additional benefit might be the relative distance I have to personal issues of members, fights and such... Hehe, I feel like writing an application letter ... yet this is voluntary work, lol. But I do not want to say a yes yet. Mars, can you describe a typical day's work on the forums? What do you do when you come home from your job (at what time you come home)? What is to do?
-
haha, with that comment I actually meant that I am so musically naked that I did not understand the terminology you used so I can't even say whether the description is well or not
-
hey man, thanks for answering I was just surprised that it has nothing to do with psytrance, you know. When I read the thread title, I thought AvB would play Psytrance now because he plays your (psy) tracks... And I now understand that you don't wanna ditch all what you have done before by changing your alias. That would actually not be very wise. cheers
-
great video! It's great to see how it was 14 years ago ... you can feel a sort of vibe in there that is not here today (and it's not just the music). But I was 12 at that time ... oh my gosh... Could say now that I wished to have been into psy back then already, but it wouldn't be just I guess. I have made my experiences the way I did and am satisfied with them, wouldn't want to change anything. Still, cool for the people having been there...

Etnoscope - King Size Rizzla from Drums From The Dawn Of Time it's so great, I love that track
