  1. apparently nobody's for that blacklist
  2. just label the tracks and labels (and ideally also the release you took a track from) right and don't press endless copies to flood the market and I'm sure it's okay... it's basically just a DJ mix you're making, only not just for download, but already burned on a CD there are DJ mixes out there that have way worse labeled tracklists and nobody's having anything against it so I wouldn't worry
  3. Spark 7 ... that name made me chuckle. Especially since the guy is czech, because then he must know it. There they've got this bank called "Czeska Sporitelna", which is the czech branch of a bank we also have here in Austria. And this bank has a product for the youth, which is also called Spark 7. Well, they write it "Spark7even" or in some other weird way, but the name is the same ... hehe. Wonder if he took his inspiration from that
  4. happens to me almost any time when I hear a DJ set on a party it's always new stuff that I don't know. it has never been different though, so I'm used to it there's just a handful of cases where the DJ played older tracks. Once there was Prex - S4 playing ... and once it was Silicon Sound - Onida ... and once it was Eat Static - Implant 2002 Update ... see, those cases are so scarce I even remember them ... there were a couple others too though still, it happens very rarely that I hear older tracks playing...
  5. wasn't that one from Pavel where he put a goa track over an ordinary wedding video?
  6. Flukeeee! :posford: Would not classify it that similar to Leftfield though ... well, okay, the older stuff maybe. Check their album Six Wheels On My Wagon!
  7. Yes, Kammarheit ... I forgot about this one. It's drone though, so I'd not consider it that dark per se. But it's good. And generally, what Cyclic Law label releases is good. Also try Luasa Raelon - The Poison City. Label: Eibon Records. Check them.
  8. The only true hiphop is Austrian mundart rap for me! One of the good albums for example: Tibor Foco (aka Jack Untawega) - Andagraund an exemplarish tune: http-~~-//www.youtube.com/watch?v=2SQNMZrE9Yo (the beginning is a little bad, skip if you want ... youtube doesn't have too much good Tibor Foco) imo, this is the utmost best hip hop style and if anybody of you understand the language, I'll pay you a beer!
  9. Pusherstreet - Lingo & Knazter Multiplex Records 2009 (MULTIPLEX 011); http://www.multiplex-records.de/ Some time ago, I became a little bit bored of psychedelic music ... on parties it was all starting to sound the same more or less all the time: either it was fullon or dark (unfortunately the dull way) or this kind of generic sounding detergent progressive. All off the mill, sorta. And even though I know a considerable amount of good stuff to listen to at home, I somewhat ended up listening to the same handful of artists over and over. But then, fortunately, I discovered Pusherstreet and as I heard their samples posted on their Myspace I got instantly interested in their music. This sound had just the twist I needed and altogether made it clear for me that the scene is far from dead and that there are a bunch of guys out there who are still making fresh and innovative sounds! And that there's even more to come, for these guys also have opened a label, Panzar Rekordz... Pusherstreet were Liam Dorff & Rasmus Alanne (some should know him as a member of Etnoscope) at first. Meanwhile they have a third member, Jesper Nilsson. Their motivation for the Pusherstreet project was that they found themselves in a similar situation to mine above, namely that fullon dominates the psytrance scene and the progressive which is released nowadays often sounds more or less all the same. They decided that something needed to be done about this and chose the right thing: to start a project by themselves and bring back the innovation as well as the original approach and good overall experience that trance music used to be known for! And this is precisely what their sound is: progression and positive vibe, straight to the bone! "Umpa Umpa with a twist" is their motto ... and the sound is totally like that. At the beginning of this September they released their first digital EP on Multiplex Records. What you get on this release are two of their tracks, "Lingo" and "Knatzer". Lingo: this one begins nicely with a sorta jumpiness in the sound and beat, builds gradually and changes into a more progressive, rawer pace. It actually almost appears like two tracks in one, very cool! I like how there are no actual melodies, but rather effects embedded into the flow of the track, thus enriching the progression but also changing its variety -- this is one of the main characteristics of the Pusherstreet sound! That and this sort of "phatness" in the beat and musical structure which is just one of a kind and incredibly good. Because of this the music is very easily accessible in a jumpy and "get up and move" manner -- I sometimes can't help but just stand up and shake through the room to this track -- but it also offers some nice creative twists and turns and inputs here and there that just make me smile and create a very positive vibe overall. This is a very good and fresh progressive track! Knazter: the Knazter track ("Knaster" in german means some smoking stuff, either tobacco or weeds ... nowadays the term is rather used for nasty stuff) is of a rawer sound nature than Lingo and it's also so jumpy as the first one ... one could mean that the nastiness of Knaster stuff is shining though onto this track a bit, in a good way though! You get a progressing beat with present bassline (again with that wonderful, "phatness" without compromise!), some screeching and other effects add a pinch of psy elements ... and what makes this one interesting is again the way that there is actually a melody component, yet there is no melody ... it is actually just very well embedded effects. Sorta. But you shouldn't think too much about this anyway, just dance, it's a really good track The sound of Pusherstreet, which this release stands for, is very particular. It's progressive trance, but raw and in its purest, honest and most positive essence, there's absolutely not a single grain of the fancy fake or pseudoemotional sophisticatedness that one can unfortunately feel in much of the commercial stuff released nowadays. It makes you smile and want to move ... and it might also warm your heart. It's also great to workout or run to, which I can strongly recommend from my own experience So, what you get here is two really very good and solid progressive tracks with a characteristic sound that is very original and innovative. It showcases the talent of these guys and makes appetite for more! A very recommendable piece. Hopefully there's more to come soon from Panzar Rekordz! Yet the best about this one has not been even said yet: Pusherstreet have chosen to release this EP for FREE! That's right, everybody can download this one in Multiplex Records' download section ( http://www.multiplex-records.de/musicdownload.html )! Get it and enjoy it Links: http://www.panzarrekordz.com http://www.myspace.com/pusherstreet
  10. also/only: "also" = not a problem I guess ... you're promoting your mix and you're throwing in a bit of club promotion aswell such as "this stuff I play there" "only" = I'd say that's a problem ... a club releasing a CD with tracks without any permissions whatsoever doesn't sound very legal also depends what kind of "promo" this is ... there are promos who are pressed and then distributed freely among hundreds of people like flyers, I'd not consider that legal if there's no permission for the tracks!
  11. it just had an idea: why not compose a sort of "blacklist" ... as in which labels and stuff to avoid? it would require a bit of work though to check the cases, otherwise some bum could just say bad things about a couple of people he doesn't like. it needs to be assured that people don't make things up. our scene wouldn't get more peaceful because of it (actually I believe there's going to be a lot of arguing and fights related to a project like this), but these bastards would be reported for once! what do you think? ... argh, that hurts!
  12. wouldn't this actually solve the rating question? just enable this in the review section and state in the rules that the rating is not for the thread per se, but how people think about the release ... doesn't sound like it's that much work or is it? and when it turns out to be a stupid idea you can still spend time on thinking about a better system! so?
  13. I'd be one of them: I am not kidding Psy music practically saved me from becoming a chav. I went to commercial trance parties, dressed like these fuckers and with a mindset like these fuckers. It was just the right time that I found out about a "goa party" to be held in a venue that I knew (the funny thing: after that party there never was any psy again in that location ... but I didn't need a second call, I liked it so much at that little psy festy - so friendly people, so good smell (incense sticks), so good music, nobody beating you up if you bump into them, no chav chicks where you get your face polished by one sunburned musclepack if you look at them by accident ... very peaceful, friendly and good atmosphere). Afterwards I only went to psy parties anymore. Found the venue I still go to nowadays shortly afterwards, Koxbox playing live and I got instantly hooked. That sums it up in a nutshell. Did not touch trance again except when I got free admission by whatever means ... but I'm really dissatisfied what the trance scene has become ... last time I was seeing Paul Van Dyk I witnessed three fights and got my clothes soaked in beer because of one. So not even the free admission thing is a strong argument anymore...
  14. hey, many thanks for that link ... I've always wanted something foresty, but less chaotic and this one fits perfectly! sorry that I don't have anything to recommend though
  15. nnno. that thread is about albums from 2009 I'd say, while this one is also for earlier stuff. with 2009 I can't help either, I didn't order a thing this year so far myself ... but what I strongly recommend from the end of last year is this one:
  16. Floating! Never mind about the details (whether Dimension 5's tracks are considered "epic" or "floating" ... in that case I'd say epic, but still, it doesn't matter), it's floating all the way. Epic is nice, but epic music mostly gets to me such a lot emotionally that I don't listen to it often because I often don't have the time to really dig into the music. And over time my music taste has grown every more minimalistic anyway, so to say. So it's floating all the way ... call it psytrance, progressive, minimal, psyprog, whatever you like, I want her floatin', I like that
  17. I suggest: ATMOS - So Nice You Name It Twice
  18. my gosh, what a cute cover is this ambient? and the Philter one is very good too ... reminds me of that old Oddworld game where they had a level with sunset setting like this, things just visible as silhouettes...
  19. ... man, how could they fuck up the new Banco de Gaia cover so much? Ah, what a pity! I hope the music is better than that uninspired cover I think it's a great cover. The design in the front appears to be a little misplaced, but it's neglectable I'd say. Lots worse stuff around.
  20. thanks for the list I thought that it's a remix of Echo Plantation and already was curious to know which one ... but it's the original? Strange... The first two tracks seem to be a bit out of place IMO. I mean, I love S-Range and 12 Moons too ... but both of them would have better tracks for the mood of the mix. But other than that, it's a great mix! I'll keep it for sure, maybe even will run to it
  21. lol, it seems to be me too ... because I haven't bought any new releases at all this year so far! funny...
  22. because it's cooooool, maaaan probably It's all very dumb anyway ... the kind of music does not really serve as a degree of measurement of how psychedelic it is ... even noise can be psychedelic. Rock too. Doesn't matter. It's just cool to be psy. Gives ye the impression that ye are different! Underground, man! Oh yay. Makes me wanna do a facepalm. But the "psy" keyword has lost its original meaning for me (that the stuff is psychedelic) and has developed to a marker for me that says "this stuff could maybe interest you"...
