Soon available in the big electronic markets around here. Bought by goa fraggles who casually listen to the music and don't really care and just want to know what's "hot" (according to YSE). Precisely the kind of people we'll only rarely see around these forums, but which make out roughly 75 percent of our scene...

no ... that won't be it IMO, it doesn't apply to the formula I stated above...

Electric Universe takes a stab at electro house

yeah... I don't know, but that trend slowly tends to get on my nerves. -
good recommendations! also try S-Range - Space

Atmos is very futuristic music to me ... especially his latest. I'd embrace a future where this kind of music would be popular. lol, imagine it ... this kind of electronic music being popular and pop fans crawling around on underground internet forums like popnews.org, haha would be great, I'd love that however, don't forget there are certain formulas you must follow if you want to create a song that the masses like (well, you don't have to, but there is a significant tendency that songs of a certain structure with certain melodies will be approved with a higher likelihood). Pop culture will not change much if these formulas don't change. And for these formulas to change it requires humanity's thinking to change. And that's where one realizes that the question about the music is something deeper than thought at first. It also depends if humanity will still think the old way (the way of today) or in new ways ... which depends partly on how the system will change. So it's complex and difficult to make forecasts.

don't eat that cheap soup, it's unhealthy... by the way, I'd rather keep the CDs even if they are unofficial than to give them away for a few portions of cheap soup (and chances are high that you won't get more than that for them)...
-
that's quite true ... there is no law backing this up... and lawsuits and stupid practices can't be the answer to the current market situation, I don't support these practices either. but the CD sales really might be in troubled times now (due to financial crisis maybe?) ... they've put up two huuuge ad posters entitled "CD, the all inclusive music" and such practically right in front of my house. Every time I go out I see the huge CD ad. I mean, wtf. They really must be down low if they're already trying this... >by the way, here is an article about that campaign (in german): http://futurezone.orf.at/stories/1501891/ but what to do now? continuing the stealing won't make the problem go away either.

Nothing special. I wouldn't pay for this... You Got Me is not bad though. -
maybe he had a CD wallet ... and lost the jewelcases ... or ... well, nevermind... doubt the fella will go down with the price though seeing that the thread's from October...

I guess that was like 25 Euros for a Peak Rec. "Chilling Goddess" ... I wanted to support the store (because I knew they were blowing outta the last hole) and it was a travel souvenir (that holds more value than some shitty accessoire), so I bought it. Actually I did that same thing on two other travels aswell with Filteria- Sky Input and Makyo - Swara Mandala. The price was about the same ... can't remember for which one I payed most... Yeah, they were ordinary CDs I could just have gotten off the net. No rarities. The price was high, but since I bought them on travels, the good memories that come with them are worth far more than the overprice and on top of that I feel good because I supported the local community

Thanks for finally demystifying this ... I too have thought that I maybe know the melody from somewhere ... never would have crossed the bridge to Push though... Yeah, I kinda have the same feeling about it. Still hope the album will be great though...

CompactStick - the successor of the CD

Nanites and replicators, huh? Your whole theory is interesting, but wouldn't the replication of objects actually void us of our reason to live? If eveything was available for free and you really could have every object you wanted freely, wouldn't that render billions of people without work, without anything they can do, without goals to achieve and such? Because don't forget, work is actually a man's reason to live ... you got no work and no goals, you become depressed and empty (not in some days, but after a few months!). However, that's actually too far offtopic already... Yeah, a matter of priorities indeed. I chose getting drunk with mates in some shady bar as my priority And I think if there was no p2p it wouldn't have been different! I just wouldn't be a big fan of psy music right now ... I would have become one of these "customers you can't lose" because I wouldn't have become a customer! So whatever money you put into me (by providing me with free p2p releases), now looking back it was good because there was no money to lose for anybody back then because I'd not have spent a cent on anything ... and now I do buy stuff and do bring money! Aha, interesting. Who's doing that? I think if a label is doing it, I respect it (and go get the thing illegally) ... because it's apparently supported by the label! That's good! Everybody involved gets their money and they provide it for free. Good That's actually a leading example how I imagine a perfectly working scene! Everybody is happy and satisfied, there's enough money AND the release is free! Around here it's about the same. 3 beers in a bar = 1 CD incl shipping. And if you go in the more expensive bars it's 2 beers = 1 CD. And never go into a restaurant or anywhere, that's going to cost you a fortune! Until recently I probably washed 8 CDs a month down my throat... I remember a class meeting in a restaurant two months ago .. and I went there with like 20 Euros and said "I'm not going to eat anything, have maybe two beers and go home with 10 Euros" ... yeah, haha, I drank all the 20 down and still wanted more and cursed that I had not more. Lol! That was 2 CDs I drank down there in one evening, with no food! I could easily have made that 5 CDs, with food It's just too freakin' expensive! Everything! -
Dude, read what I wrote in that thread now, hope that explains why I don't like those comments... <edit> before it gets deleted too soon, here is what I wrote: </edit> chill, I'm confident it will get cleaned up. and about this thread, yeah, I think it's a kinda failure ... because it's far too chaotic...

CompactStick - the successor of the CD
RTP replied to RTP's topic in Music Making and Production/Industry
Okay, I see. So a shitty stick might be what people like me get in the end... But the transition won't be that easy. Until the mainstream changes there'll still be some time. Because we are talking about mainstream here, hundreds and thousands of people ... they sure won't switch from CD to ShittyStick from one day to the other! That's going to be a long process ... and at the moment the industry is fiddling around with SlotMusic crap and ShitSticks, both formats not easily acceptable for CD lovers! There's still plenty of time. And CDs will be playable most likely forever ... BluRay can still play CDs ... and it must be like that because there were millions and billions of these things sold, they can't just ditch the players, lots of people would be angry... I have an idea though: I'll just switch back to vinyl if the CD was done! Because vinyl customer base is actually growing these days again -
this is so damn true... very few people actually know about the music ... most talks on parties about this subject are rather shallow... And YSE is a quite commersial psytrance label ... their stuff is sold at local big electronic markets here (WalMart-style) ... this accessibility might be one of the secrets why they sell so much that they can afford to push out 200+ releases...

Would you care for a non free psytrance magazine?
RTP replied to Ormion's topic in General Psytrance
yes, exactly ... that's the reasons why I'd never get an abo ... this thing looks and feel like a flyer ... and it almost never tells me things I don't know already (what will be in the current issue ... an Atmos promo text review? dooooh!)... the thing with the magazine is a nice idea, but I fear it doesn't stand ground. -
nah, I never think like that ... already because I have phases and keep redefining my genre borders every now and then ... today I like stuff I'd have despised when it was released ... so no regrets, just good music
-
Don't know if it comforts you, but that was the link I was going to provide ... but people were already faster than me

Hey, I wanted to check that one out and among their friends are Celluloid Dmage! I found out about Celluloid Dmage already more than a year ago, but then totally forgot about them! But they're absolutely great Finnish artists -- and way underrated! They are not chill, but not driving upbeat either ... and the atmosphere is warm and nice and light in their music

CompactStick - the successor of the CD
RTP replied to RTP's topic in Music Making and Production/Industry
Yep, this is true for me aswell ... my HiFi is in the other room. And nemo, DON'T come with the music over LAN solution now, please! This is cocky as I'd need to buy the HiFi device AND a decent Access Point since I don't want a LAN cable through the flat and my access point is cheap and fucky and cancels connections every now and then (or restarts) and I would get a hysterical seizure if I'd have a single glitch in the sound! Money AND nerves is just too much to invest for me. But what could that physical format be according to you, somebody who has professionally to do with such things? That's what interests me! What are the requirements for the format? Or does the solution already exist in the form of these "cloud music libraries"? I don't think so. Because in that case I could start DoS attacks all around me if I wanted to ... mainly to keep a certain annoying neighbour from playing his happy hardcore shit in the evenings and going on my nerves. Hey, actually that's a good idea! Cloud music libraries, I'm waiting for you -- and for peace in my flat That was actually well put. I'll never (NEVER) buy digital files, I want physical! I'll only buy digital if there were exclusive digital releases that are not available the illegal way! Wait, that's already the case! And I'm STILL not buying! HA! Agree 100,000% The commercial artists, they make so big heaps of money I actually find it wrong to get it legally (like, "that money I throw into the throat of the big giant music industry would be better spent if I donated it to Medecins Sans Frontiers") and that it is my DUTY to get the stuff illegally if I wanted it (and that "if I wanted it" is the big remark here, because I don't want 99% of their crap output ... already get hysterical and in vomitory mood when I have to listen to this utterly horrible crap when going into a shopping mall). Or I just listen on youtube. Which I do most of the time. Anyway, guys... What PHYSICAL format would you say is better than CompactStick, except CD? -
that's what I have metal for

The concept is not new ... Trancemaster had a "goa" compilation already in 1992... But no matter what they try, I guess psytrance will always be a niche market. This music is just not mentally accessible enough for most average house and trance listeners... And we should even be thankful that they are attempting to try making it more popular, because our labels can always need more sales

Damn it Lemmi, you nailed it! The old Thunderdome were like that indeed! The last song is from Thunderdome 23 (Hardcore Rules The World)! I even remember that one! I can't believe I liked this shit! I didn't buy a CD, but I remember listening to them a lot at the store... Oh damn... And I thought Future Trance was my only sin Oh well, I was young ... as a teenager I listened to a lot of shit. In 1999 -- that was the time Thunderdome 23 came out -- I was 14 No, seriously though, I now think it's crap and it makes me wonder I liked that. It does not trigger any memories though. So I'll just steer clear of this now and declare it pure vomit material
