  1. That's the case with almost every artist, isn't it?
  2. I don't really get that anyway, cheers
  3. understand and even partly agree with some of your points, but to cut this short: ad A: the stuff sells ... that's the reason ... and if it gets too psychedelic it's too hard to digest for meny people at the parties ... no joke ad B: if you craft a set well, it doesn't lose hardness ... you are probably listening to bad DJs, I had this problem aswell on a 1337 darkpsy party - "pran pran pran pran pran" all the time, helluva boring ... well-crafted sets, even when they're dark (have been to other darkpsy parties, not that 1337-ly announced), never even let you think the thought that it could get repetitive... ad C: set crafting ... that's also valid here. And this is the reason why I don't go to ordinary local DJ gigs already since years ... even while some of them are god most of it's just, well, badly crafted so to say ... I rather watch artists where I know what they sound like and that they are capable of delivering a set that doesn't get boring.... ad D: not the case here ... you mostly gotta know which crew's organizing to know what sound to expect ... but it's good that I know what to expect, it gives me more control ... which is good! ad E: I once had a night full of morning trance (kinda) and it was awful ... the morning approach is starting to disguise me on parties ... even though I privately actually only enjoy morning trance, I'm liking night time trance on parties much more... ad F: I rather prefer new releases to hear what's going on in the scene at the time, I'm used to not knowing 99 percent of the tracks played and it's good like that...
  4. Not turkish, but try Transglobal Underground... like this for example: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1UHTtdd9QPE nice?
  5. My last buys are already more than a month back or so, but this is a good thread to say what I think because I'm just too damn lazy to write a review. Various - Bakkelit 2.1 Bakkelit is back! With a new progressive track from S-RANGE together with Bakke himself! That's right! Agent 17 is Anthony's new alias While this having been THE reason to buy the piece for me, the compilation also holds other gems, for example Solar Fields' On A Wind, new tunes from SBK and Gaudium ... and also the rest is not bad. A very good compilation, better than the first Bakkelit if you ask me, but that one's so way back and the sound changed so much that you can't really compare the two... Audiomatrixx - Variations This one was very very good at first, although on the long run I missed the sharpness of Magnetrixx' effects a bit. Anyway, still the best you can get when longing for that special type of nice progressive. Hilight Tribe - Maha-Wave Somebody recommended them to me on here I remember and I finally got an album. These guys make nice tribal music with also real instruments and not only electronic sounds. Nice. They lack a bit of kickass in the longer run though. Front 242 - P.U.L.S.E. At first listen I was skeptical (I only knew Work 242 before that), but this one is actually a damn good album ... the synths are screaming, kranky and addictive! Lots of energy in the sound, a firework for my senses - and a totally different one as I know it from characteristical psy music, it's sharper, more concentrated and energetic, I really love that! And by the way: I don't know ... I didn't like Back To Earth very much. The fact that it was proclaimed as "ambient album" and released on Chillcode and marketed with the phrase "old, previously unrlsd tracks" made me expect something like Abduction (the song) ... and what I got was no way near that. Lo-Ride Sloucher was great. A few other tracks were not bad aswell. But on the long run I pretty much abandoned that piece and don't listen to it anymore...
  6. That's quite a musical journey you have there, Pixie I just can say I came from techno and trance towards psytrance, goa and psychill ... and I discovered metal and dark ambient while on the way. And nowadays I'm going back away from all the chaos to more structured progressive sounds and venturing a little into different musical realms, industrial and such ... that's it basically.
  7. Ha, that's exactly the way I do it aswell! I purposefully leave my Minidisc or MP3 player at home and go on holiday with nothing but my head! And getting out of the rhythms I hear every day is like opening windows in my head ... thoughts flow a bit differently. And while it mostly gets a little kranky after some days, there's usually the point after which it doesn't matter that much anymore. That's the thing I am after, for only then the windows are really open and I get some different air into my head. Because on holiday it has to be different than at home, I don't have to be on holiday just physically, but also mentally! And coming back is always very sweet, it's almost like rediscovering all the sounds
  8. Ah! The simplicity could probably be the reason why I like Dimension 5 so much. I hate too complex stuff Seriously, what I heard from Dimension 5 (a fair lot) was far better than what I heard of Pleiadians (3 tracks maybe, not that much, but enough to not make me want to hear more).
  9. only one hour? cool... I can relate to that, some days it even happens with me ... but average it's more. One hour is just too few ... I generally don't bother hitting the play button if it's just for such a short time...
  10. oh my gosh, guys, that's insane, aren't you going crazy? Could you go on holiday for a month without music? Is that possible for you? The rest is pretty much average like me, some more, but still not extreme. Nice to see that
  11. As a physical medium I really do love vinyl! But I'm not buying much vinyl, I rather buy CDs despite I don't prefer them... As a digital medium I like mp3s a lot. I can't warm my heart for wavs, they're so big. And flac I never tried. I stick with mp3s, my PC soundsystem isn't good anyway, so you won't notice that much difference between mp3 and wav...
  12. Okay, I wanna know this. I got encouraged to do this poll by sentences like "I can't stand the silence" in the reading + music topic (that's, btw, a sign that you're already severely addicted). I want to know how many hours a day you listen to music. And I mean psy music, I don't assume you listen to radio pop stuff 10 hours a day... So how many hours a day do you put your brain in the shaker? Me: 3.5 hours average I'd say ... maybe even less. I'm writing this here in total silence now and I don't have a problem with it.
  13. Yes, yes and yes! I'm exactly the same! I can't read to music. Books not at all, I want to fully concentrate on the reading. Newspapers maybe - the economic ones don't go, but the shallow ones go. Only issue: I hate shallow newspapers, I get aggressive when I read these blatantly obvious brainamputating news lines... Therefore I almost never listen to music while I read. That's like listening to music while PS3 gaming. Does not work! But I can solve uni problems faster and better when I listen to psy, that's true for me aswell!
  14. The Ultimae covers are great. I gues Vince makes almost all of them himself...
  15. Limiting Solar Fields - Extended to only 800 copies is a dry joke anyway... 2000 copies, that's an appropriate limitation. Or at least 1500. And it would have sold out aswell.
  16. not valid for my recommendations! they're of such a divine greatness you don't even need to check a sample before buying! jk, but I support Mindbender's attitude
  17. I HAVE BEEN THERE AGAIN! Absolutely wonderfully amazing I'm for a law that every citizen of this country must visit a planetarium ambient session at least once a month! Would make our society a lot more chilled
  18. Yeah The second chill album people tend to find better than the first I might add. Although I actually prefer the first! For example the first song, Smiri Se, is on my list of the best ambient pieces ever!
  19. Hey, Mindbender! Never seen you around, but welcome back Cheers, this is a great album If you liked that one I bet you like 12 Moons - Solid State ... trancy and warm, be sure to check that one out. You also could try Matenda's chill albums... Check out Solar Fields - EarthShine aswell!
  20. I think they won't reprint limited editions. Or would they? What's the point of beig "limited" then? I mean, bad for me because I neither got Extended nor Aftermath, but I don't care sooo much, one day I'll find 'em My buy list would be Carbon Based Lifeforms - Hydroponic Garden, HUVA Network - Distances and Aes Dana - Season 5 BTW, I hope Wirikuta will get them aswell, that would be cool for me...
  21. Yeeehaaaayyy :posford: I have been waiting for this since somebody uttered that rumour at the beginning of the year! And it's so awesome that this good news comes RIGHT NOW, at 2 AM when I finally am finished with my thesis! That can't be coincidence! *collectively hugs all ultimae fans*
  22. Interesting... I thought he just was too lazy to complete What's going wrong there? Yes, me too All aboard the fail boat? Well, maybe. But there are some good moments. And the first track can catch a ride in a rescue raft. Kinda. It's not old Astral, that's clear ... the power is not there. But it's not that bad of a fullon as I expected. Part 7 I find lots worse. Imagine hearing something like that (including the crappy remix of Mahadeva) after some of their real oldschool tunes. I did. Beh. Beeeh! Anyway, I will watch out for that album (and I maybe even will get it), despite it's not looking like a masterpiece already beforehand. It's the Astral thing. I think once in my life I wanna buy an Astral album when it comes out - a real one, not "Ten" ... Ten is :wank:
  23. Anyway, they're taking a damn lot of time for that bit of fullon, don't ya think? I mean, Open Society is a great track, but most of the new stuff is more dull... It seems to be "in" these days to take AGES - yes, freckin' AGES - to release some album. Astral Projection aren't the only ones. There's Atmos, S-Range, Etnoscope ... all of them in the same situation. Release that baby, guys ... waiting isn't fun!
  24. I always thought I'm the last to know pop things like that... Turns out I'm not
