  1. Hello folks... Just came back from holidays. Have seen lots of good things. But also some bad ones. One of these was the "news" I got in Lyon from a shopkeeper who also sold goa CDs ... well, to me he seemed to know what he was talking about, not making something up, you know... He told me that Makyo is dead. That's right, he meant Gio, the head behind Makyo and - afaik - also the head behind Dakini Records... That has quite shocked me. I haven't heard a word of this anywhere. You can't find anything about this on the Dakini website or when searching Google either. And I really am a big fan of Makyo ... to me he certainly is one of the best chillout artists. It would be really sad if this was true Anybody knows something of this? Can tell if this is true or not? According to that guy who told this to me he's dead already since some time (months), it hasn't happened recently...
  2. I lol'd I have said that already four years ago And - what a surprise - just at that time IM The Supervisor came out. Coincidence?
  3. Murphy, chill The Kuala Lumpur sample is over 5 minutes long ... the rest over 3, so I think I have a bit of a right to base my opinion on it... And if not, well, I still do it, so you should live with it... That's an opinion, not a fact. You must be able to distinguish between the two. No, you are most likely not Unless you studied music and totally focus on techniques and that stuff and exclude every last bit of emotion. Which you don't. You got all stirred up because somebody else said something different. Well, I don't like the voice. That's how it is. It's not awful music, I just dislike the voice. Thus I won't buy the thing. That's it. Good for you if you like it. Good for me if I can steer clear of it. And everybody's happy
  4. what's so funny? Well, yes, this is true. But as people always argue, "electronic music is produced differently" ... well, yes. Electronic music is produced differently! Time to drop this band thing where everybody does something else and time to make everybody involved on a same level, on the same things!
  5. Okay I checked some samples on his myspace because I was interested... ...and the voice SUCKS No really, it does suck quite big time. As you compared it to Solar Fields I expected wonders, but this really doesn't come close. Not even remotely. It's not that awful, you know, I didn't litterally chunder on the floor as the green smiley suggested, but it's really nothing special at all. And good ambient should be way, way better...
  6. Apart from the fact that the votes won't count: DOWNBEAT? What's downbeat in Matenda except the very last track?
  7. yeah, unfortunately
  8. Carbon Based Lifeforms Solar Fields Makyo Puff Dragon Healer Aes Dana Sync24 Chilling Matenda that's all
  9. you are right, I misread I get all wushy when I read the word "Unreal" somewhere, you know Nevertheless, what IM are doing now, is nothing else but crap
  10. The deal might be fair, but it's just not how it should be in a group. If one of them has all the ideas, then he's the artist and not the group. The other guy is something like a "session musician" or a hired manager or whatever, but IMO he doesn't deserve the credit that an artist has. What I imagine to be a collaboration is that all of the artists involved contribute with their own ideas, thus forming the bits and pieces of inputs together to an artwork. You know, like it's the case when you're talking with a really good friend - you both enrich each other vice versa and the sum of the parts is greater than all the parts together taken alone ... know what I mean? That's what the image of a collaboration, a group, a duo or whatever is for me in music. Most of the time when two solo-artists decide to do a project together you also can hear elements from both of them enriching each other ... at least that's the case in god collabs. And then you actually can hear that they had fun working together And when it's not like that it's not a good sign IMO ... it's not a real collaboration ... it's one guys having all the ideas - "being the actual project" and the other one just a session musican, not worth more than a piece of gear so to say. If the other dude(s) were not there the music would sound the same. And if that's the case, then I think it's kinda sad... I, however, an not into scammers. And I don't think anybody on here actually is. Except Pavel maybe and his obsession with the Chemical Crew every now and then...
  11. That's not good then though ... I think. Groups of artists should make music together, not one having the ideas and the other playing just a side role. Not even slightly. What would the other people be here for then? They must be equally important and put work into the project at the same degree. Otherwise the others are like "session musicans" in bands and that's quite a low level of existence...
  12. If it wasn't amazing then it never deserves the term Unreal, it also doesn't deserve the term odd ... it was just crap IM is very connected to the word "crap" in my brain anyway ... and your experience strengthens the bonds and bolts. And I'm again SO HAPPY I still got to see them before tha Superviz0r album back then ... that was already almost five years ago They came again to Vienna, last year I think, but that time in a big commercial clubbing hall ... with VIP zone where you can enter if you pay more - already when I read that on a psy party it makes me gag ... that's not shanti, that's über-commercial moneymaking shallowness, because don't think you can even see the artists from a distance in the VIP ... not that I wanted to, but still. Needless to say I saved the 30 Euro that the crap would have cost me already in the basic version (it would've been more because of drinks and train tickets) for good... Apparently it was worse visited than expected because this event called "Electric City", which was intended to become periodical, IM being the kickoff sorta, never took place again. Mission successful
  13. I don't know, but when there's a group that consists of two or so artists then I'd say they are both equally important. If there was only one mind doing the work, why don't they split? I mean, it would be ridiculous not to split ... I wouldn't continue just for friendship and fame, that would not be okay and if there were bands who do that then I'd not honor such behaviour. Sure there's one mind who might have more creativity, but without the other the group wouldn't exist. So I say all members are equally important. It must be like that. Otherwise split up, gawdamnit! A good example is Magnetrixx. Stefan is very good with the technical stuff, can produce tracks on his own if needed. Heike is very creative and is not so good with the technics. Who's the brain behind that now? Actually it's both of them, because only when they work together the tracks sound really good! Should be like that everywhere. Otherwise the artists could (and should) just continue on their own aswell ... or not?
  14. voted
  15. THIS is horrible But I knew that one before But the cover for the first Sabotage is AWESOME! They should have sticked to that and not make it ridiculous...
  16. Seems the discussion about exaggerated promo texts can soon be laid ad acta ... in the future we'll only have those weird ones anymore
  17. yeah, you could be right so that makes the cover even more cool
  18. Haven't seen that one yet ... wouldn't even have found it cool before that experience though
  19. I don't want more! I want ... well, not exactly less, but ... more on a different level. Seriously, the Psyshop charts are kinda right up my sleeve. Nice music that focuses not on intensity, but on creative use of elements and thus brings forth energy on a totally different level than other music does. I mean, I know what you mean, I fortunately had the possibility to experience oldschool magicka myself, but that stuff is so intense I can't bear to listen (or dance) to it more than one or two hours. It's also the same reason why I actually never put my Sky Input album into the player except if I got my headaches (Filteria cures 'em ... with phantastic closed-eye visuals, don't ask me how he does it!). IT'S TOO INTENSE! I already have enough intensity in life. I need a different kind of energy! You know?
  20. And by the way... This is an AWESOME cover (IMO)! I love it ... look at the guy's eyes! And the headphones/ear protection ... I love it! Wanted to say that already since a long time.
  21. I think Epoch Calypso is ... But well, the extraordinary genious LoRide Sloucher is available for listen on their myspace since some time and I found it totally awesome already before. In fact this track is guilty why I just couldn't wait for the release anymore! These synths, these synths ... But compared to LoRide Sloucher the rest of the album is pretty mediocre Well, I like Dune Rider and the first one because of the slinky bassline. And Pharaoh is okay aswell. Maybe Valley Of The Moon. But more than that ... is unfortunately not. You know, as I heard the terms "Eat Static" and "ambient" and "unreleased" in one sentence I was thinking that this album would have tracks as genious as Abduction (the track) ... my expectations were really high. And what we got here is not living up to them at all. The tracks are not awful, but ... I don't know, this doesn't kick, it's standard, Eat Static just has to be better, it's Eat Static damnit! It's unfortunate that I have to say this, but I'm happy I didn't buy it, I'd regret it
  22. Even better and even more cool ... but well, you see how well the tickets for it obviously sold It's sad, but if they had made the ambient standalone here, without the party connected to it, I assume just as few people would have come
  23. Yeah, I bet renting the Planetarium here wasn't cheap either ... although they sometimes rent it out for parties (I can somehow sense they got a bit monetary problems), but they never allowed people to rent the dome room until last time (there hasn't been an ambient floor till that night). But it was combined with a big (fullon ) party, so the guests there also paid the rent for the dome room with their entry fee... I think that's - on the long run - the only way not to make a loss.
  24. Don't be too optimistic... Your figures could also mean that 2 million people saw Becoming Insaneand thought it was so great that they watched it a second time and then they checked out Psycho and thought "what a crap" and thus watched the video just once "Rap 'n' Psy" - "R'n'P" ... But face it, that's how it will probably be. More and more singing comes into psy. Crowds are already almost like those on pop and rock concerts! It's THE HORROR!
  25. lack of WHAT? goddamn, it's a Platetarium, IT CAN'T FREAKIN' GET BETTER THAN THAT! If not even this event sells enough tickets to actually come up for the costs to organize it, I abandon my hopes for ambient gigs altogether
