Yaaay, good and highly interesting news! I recently came across it while browsing the coming soon releases on Wirikuta... A NEW SOLAR FIELDS ALBUM will be released on Ultimae rec on Nov 8th! Its title is Earth Shine ... and it's UPBEAT music! That's right, no ambient from Magnus this time! It's pure progressive trance - yet still out on Ultimae Records! That's what I call a freakin' debut in both ways! YAY! And the sound is quite awesome - at least what I can make out of the samples. Not bad stuff ... although I think I still prefer the ambient works... samples: http://www.ultimae.com/en/releases/264/tracks.html

I'd give you 3 Euros for the S-Range - Out Of Range

yes, indeed ... no more oldschoolish music from Shiva Chandra after his first album but it's still great stuff! I love Shiva Chandra!

Deeply Melancholic psytrance/ambient/chillout
RTP replied to Melancholyman's topic in General Psytrance
Man... The song Desiderii Marginis - It's a Cold Trail is what you seek. Trust me. Cold, sad ... so sweet ... You'd be quite well off if you got yourself the whole That Which Is Tragic And Timeless album of him ... a very unique atmosphere and a bit of a new and original approach to this music... -
welcome back, radi don't learn too much english... Shiva Chandra - Milk Bar is a very nice track ... the whole Spicy Moments is a gem ... don't know of anything similar to that song though. Try his other downbeat stuff ... on every album except the last one (Change Of Air) you'll find a downbeat track at the end...

Ah, I see ... Alex Joon = Alex Jave, huh? Because on Energy loader it says for some tracks "produced by Matenda and Alex Jave"... And you, global phonehead ... aren't you Matenda himself? It's his own label as far as I know or isn't it? Gosh, this Natural Development is a totally beautiful album! I've listened to it maybe four times now ... it's for the first time ever that I listen to an album more than four times in one month. I really, really like it! Many beautiful sounds on it, hardly any moments that I don't like - except track 7, that one doesn't really belong on the album somehow I think. Still, my favourite album of 2007 so far, I doubt that I'll come across anything better this year

too bad... is there a sellout? like, every CD for a bread and butter? hmmm? (ah, damn, that store is for media and not CDs ... forget it then)
-
saw them live this new year's eve ... well, I could really have spent all that money for something else as for worst albums I haven't heard any bad ones this year, mainly because I currently own only one album that was released this year ... but that will change soon when I get more salary...
-
Austria, hmmm? If you come to Vienna we can meet for a beer ... for parties it is no season here in summer though, they're all outside somewhere in the fields... Maybe if you're lucky you could score some nice festy with the sounds you like somewhere around in the country ... but for that you'd neet to wait longer, lineups and dates are not fixed yet, too early...

I don't own many mixed CDs (except Ultimae). Mainly because I listen to the stuff at home and I don't want mixes when I listen at home ... for running I like mixes, but these I download, because I have to record them on MD, so why spending money on a mix CD when I have to re-record it afterwards anyway. But wait, the Earthtrance CD is mixed ... and therefore it's the best released goa trance mix I own
-
It's on his Auricular album too (just look closer) But that's a cool similarity. Don't know why this is. But it's a good question, this way I already have something to ask the man himself when I see him live one day...

New Astral Projection album set for 2007... (!)
RTP replied to Jon Cocco's topic in General Psytrance
I think the track is not that bad. Incomparable to their older stuff, yes ... but it could be worse. -
I also think Ultimae will satisfy you ... check out Aes Dana and Solar Fields albums

New Astral Projection album set for 2007... (!)
RTP replied to Jon Cocco's topic in General Psytrance
Why still samples? Did nobody look on their myspace site? You can listen to the whole Open Society track there. And that is quite old news. http://www.myspace.com/astralprojectionavilior And I don't understand the sudden hype ... the whole talks about a new AP album are around since long time and I'm waiting for it since more than one year already easily... (I'm waiting already for a lot of stuff actually...) -
a wise and accurate sentence I think likewise. Gil is no holy man. But he is cooler than the pope... Tracks he spins quite good ones. I like the style. Wouldn't listen to that stuff at home, but on a party why not. I haven't seen Gil spinning yet and I'm not that desperate for it, but one day if he's in town I'll probably go... And I'm curious if the mixing really is that bad... oh btw: ^that's pretty freakin' arrogant ... wouldn't have expected that from him ... that's not shanti at all...

Why did we end up in a world that dj's are more important than producers?
RTP replied to Ormion's topic in General Psytrance
Really? That's new to me. As far as I've experienced DJs are actually somewhat underrated. It is often the case that even the most crappy liveact is prefered to any DJ set ... which affects the quality of the parties, where crappy (and hardly known) israeli liveacts are booked and play totally uninspired fullon music just because nobody would come if there was no liveact ... I remember a discussion about that on some other goa forum place... It's in other electronic music scenes where DJs are IMHO way overrated (like in house music as you mention) ... but not really in the psy department... -
Matenda - Orphean uses the same key and also a very suggestive similar melody as Robert Miles - Children... Even the song title is a play of words directed at the Robert Miles tune ... an orphean can only be a child. Intelligent.

Then hurry over to Wirikuta, they've got Cosmosis - Contact still available and even for special price You can find a few other old classics there as well, just look around...
-
Oh yesss... I got it now, today, finally (first salary ) ... and it's totally awesome! I'm tucking fired but can not go to sleep until I had at least put it in the CD player and listened a bit ... Matenda, MATENDA, man, awesome Perspectives is a totally awesome song! So far I think it's even the best one of the album, but I'm not fully through it yet...
-
Carbon Based Lifeforms - Hydroponic Garden A god damn awesome album ... buy this if you can find it anywhere ... I'm on the search for the CD version myself... You can also get its successor, World Of Sleepers ... that one is very very good too and it's still available. Solar Fields - Leaving Home and Blue Moon Station are awesome as well... Oh and ... what I like a whole lot about Ultimae as well apart from their great music is, that they print booklets to their CDs! REAL booklets with many photos and stuff (one picture for each track - that's the best ... not even in other music genres you find that everywhere, sometimes lyrics are cramped up on 3 pages for 10 songs...), not just those cheap 2 page leaflets! So I buy the albums not just for the sound, but for the whole package: digipak, CD and booklet ... which is as it should be. Not just cheap jewelcase, 2 page leaflet and carelessly boring CD labeling... Love Ultimae for that

Seconded, but not all tunes of the latter ones (especially Matenda) are happy... I would recommend you something like: S-Range - Dimension Jump (IMHO the best and most happy song of S-Range that exists out there!) Banco De Gaja - Obsidian (definitely ... a magical song - happy, bright and heartwarming ) Super Skunk - Planet Bliss (upbeat and happy) Klangstrahler Projekt - Rising (begins calm (not melancholic!), but gets very good in the later part - a "rising" tune indeed) Box Of Frox - U Know (chilled, relaxed and warm sound) Soundfield - Second Step Above The Sun (Etnoscope Remix) (etnoscope aside from drum madness - don't get irritated by the first 20 seconds, it's a nice song and I love this warm synth melody in the middle ) S-Range feat. Z-Man - Wonderful (simply wonderful, makes me smile every time I listen to it )

Just ordered CDs and vinyl for a total of 51,50 Euros and haven't even got my salary yet and have only 55 cents on my bank account! That was not really clever, was it?
