The problem when you don't know which speed the thing should be played at is, that when you play it at 33 RPM you constantly think "this is too slow" and when you play it at 45 RPM you constantly think "it's too fast" ... at least I'm doing this. So it's actually the contrary to your statement and in the end it doesn't sound right on neither of the two speeds and it makes you crazy not to know which speed the damn thing actually should be played at

Haaahahahahaha .... you know what, Lemmi? I myself thought already more than once about starting such a thread, but I always forgot WRONG. Best example is Prex - R.F.N. / Mandrake EP: R.F.N. = 45 RPM; Mandrake = 33 RPM ... ask the scratched-in notes! when there's only one track on a side you never know whether it's 33 or 45 RPM unless it's told you! I mean ... you can analyze the etchings ... it's a bit possible to conclude from them (if they're very dense it's likely to be 45 RPM), but not definitely! when there's two tracks on one side (yes, there are EPs with two tracks on some sides aswell) it's always 33 RPM though. Doesn't mean the other side is too though! Yes, the decision whether a side has to be played 33 or 45 RPM is tough sometimes! But the etched-in descriptions might help (if it's not stated on the label!). Or your ears. Ask both and then decide. The Human Blue - Essence EP for example is stated to be played in 45 RPM while it's in truth a 33 RPM (to me!). it depends. you never know. that's what makes EPs so cool

indeed ... it's very good music for jogging, especially on a sunny day in winter ... it's not so pushing and driving beat, but rather gentle and nice sound ... I always come home quite relaxed and with a smile on my face when I have been jogging to that album A pity that he's apparently not producing anymore ... good luck to him for sorting the issues out, maybe he will be able to start again then!

+12! I'm waiting for a sequel to Solid State ever since ... this is one of the best scando trance albums out there! A pity that there is not more from this guy Maybe you should check out Healer ... it's his ambient project ... of course it's a bit different stuff, but it's good as well

... yeah, those guys would pwn totally I'd second Filteria ... but I think he doesn't come here too often...

Synaesthesia sound to visual: Does anyone else besides me have it?
RTP replied to tone's topic in General Psytrance
I don't see colors, but I can have quite intense closed eye visuals - well, actually it's more than just "visuals", sometimes like a film ... like flying over landscapes or through space or through alien lands ... it's mostly about landscapes though, never about persons or other stuff ... sometimes it's even a cool film, kinda "music video" like - like for example flying over a city, then suddenly turning down and zooming out and seing everything from above, the roads, the houses, the skyscrapers and then suddenly it all transforms itself into a circuit board ... and such stuff. It can also be more deranged and even of a more synaesthetic character like coloured and stuff ... once I was lying there with open eyes and suddenly my whole field of vision got kinda drained in blue. It varies. Depends on music, mood and setting ... often I don't have anything at all too. It seems to work best sometimes when I have headaches though. Once I had this quite fucked up headache and I didn't want to take a pill against it, I put on some tiger balm on my forehead, lied down and listened to some Filteria tracks. I had the most synaesthetic experiences I ever had ... all full of these film like flights over landscapes, through space ... in a clarity that I never have experienced again in that way. Half an hour of that stuff and then I realized my headache was gone completely! Not all of my headaches can be treated like that though ... it's weird. -
Drone ambient? To me that would be something like Kammarheit - The Starwheel ... check out Kammarheit's music at http://www.myspace.com/kammarheit

Okay, I tried it now and have to say at home I could never listen to hardstyle ... never! This sounds just too crappy. That means I'll (hopefully) always prefer fullon over hardstyle...
-
Is that the fullon versus hardstyle thread? I hate Hardstyle I hate Fullon but I think I still hate Hardstyle more than Fullon ... at Fullon partys you (yet) have no burberry cap chav f*ks (yes, total prejudice here ... but I don't care ... prove me that there are less chavs on Hardstyle partys than on Fullon gigs and I pay you a beer)...
-
is that the Björn Lynne dude? he's making good ambientish music

in Austria you may not take any liquid on planes anymore ... no water, no Fanta, no hair shampoo! so yeah, I really think it has gotten THAT bad yes, yes, yes, yes, yes! heck, make copies of ALL of them, damnit! I'd do it. I'd not even wanna risk the loss of one of my babies!

What music are you listening to right now?
RTP replied to Sputum Rotgut's topic in General Psytrance
Atmos - Bad 2 The Bone man, that's a damn good one -
awww, I already wondered if that CD in your avatar was yours ... seems like it is Oh horror ... if that would happen to me...

LOL ... what have you guys been smokin'? The ordering system at Wirikuta is perfect - at least for me I never had problems ... I think we should form an assembly line ... only one psynews member at a time may order from Wirikuta Seriously, though ... after this expensive Saikosounds excess of mine (you remember that thread, do you?) I looked around and also found that Wirikuta is quite a good shop (it didn't have most of the releases I ordered from Saikosounds though, so I didn't bite my ass ). They're in my country, they ship fast, they're reliable ... and indeed, they still got some gems in stock that you don't find in other major online shops anymore! A small but quite fine business here in Austria it is ... I therefore suggest to include Wirikuta in the list of good psy music shops And by the way, while we are at it, is there any other psy music shop apart from those mentioned three that is worth for people to check out - I mean, not just labels that sell their things, but a real shop that has loads of releases?
-
Saiko Pod - Phutures And Options ... the 2xLP version ... finally And in addition to that I also got Chris Pointdexter - Tribal Thing EP Beat Bizarre - Pop The Question/Swallow EP V/A - FX 2xLP and Junk - Wildlife/Latin Girl EP I'm happy now

tell us when you know more...
-
gosh, yeah, you're right ... Bitmonx did only the remix ... the credit for the track title goes indeed to SBK! my bad... indeed, it means morning boner
-
Today I ordered a bunch of vinyls at Wirikuta ("end of semester reward order", you know ). They won't be here until the end of the week though - and even that would be early... But the right to post here I have, because I got a big lot of metal and dark ambient tapes today ... Falkenbach, Summoning, Mortiis and lots more At least I got some stuff to listen to until my vinyl shipment arrives
-
haha Defolder - Arschbiss is kinda in the same vein ... and it even is a plausible word. Bitmonx - Morgenlatte is also a nice one (for the ones that know what a morgenlatte is ) and I remember Domestic - Radioactive Kinder Bueno, priceless! and Sonus - Reisefieber or Shiva Chandra - Schaukelstuhl or Auricular - Pilzvergiftung and Auricular - Gradwanderung, nice titles too I also like Atmos - Qualität Im Quadrat, because this track title is the old ad slogan of Ritter Sport chocolate! The new slogan is "Quadratisch. Praktisch. Gut." and I find it not very good compared to the old one. I once saw a Ritter Sport in a shelf with still the old slogan on it (despite being a fresh pack ... it was not old and rotten, so obviously the designers just forgot to adapt the slogan on that one) - "Qualität Im Quadrat" - and I HAD to buy it because I had to think of Atmos and finally knew where this track title came from ... he obviously bought a Ritter Sport chocolate as he was in germany once (maybe there where he recorded that "Marktstraße" sample in Berlin?) and then just took the slogan on it for a trackname, funny Magnetrixx have some cool track titles too...
-
That sounds very nice! I'm curious...

*hums the tune* ... "dummm - dummm-dummm-dummm..." yeah, Air Song is nice ... chilled, relaxed and warm But if you expect something along the lines of Air Song and then Levitate grabs you by the balls and lets you sit there with eyes and mouth wide open ... it's completely different. Uncomparable. This can't be Solar Fields. Yet it is. Amazing!
-
I just yesterday discovered what a great track from Solar Fields the guys from Ultimae have put on Fahrenheit Project Part Six! Levitate! This piece is so damn amazing ... the sample hit me like a point blank shot straight in the face! I had to immediately get that track, otherwise I wouldn't sleep at night. INCREDIBLE! This baby is so different from all that I knew from Solar Fields before. It's absolutely amazing ... a driving piece with wonderful epic and sheer beautiful synthesizer melodies ... I have all three albums except "Extended" and I have never encountered any soundscapes quite like these on them! Solar Fields always meant chilled ambient frequencies to me (except a few pieces, like "Infection 268-7") ... and in the beginning one could even mean what would be coming would be traditional Solar Fields style, (although the tension is building that ones hairs become punkies) ... but if you expect all ambient with this one it will grab you by the balls! Incredible! INCREDIBLE! This was something I really didn't expect! I hope Magnus will have some sounds like that on his next album and this is not just a one-time-experiment... ... anybody else has heard it?
