You know ... the german word "Klan" is neutral. It meens clan. It doesn't imply any ideology. There's a band called Korpiklaani which means Waldklan (woodclan). They have the word "Klan" in it and their music has nothing to do at all with any certain ideoligies (yeah, go check it out please, do it, I want you to check it out, it's good! ). I just want to say that in this case a neutral word (in english it's maybe not that neutral, since the word clan is written with "c", so with a k it could mean something, that's right, but still) is getting a meaning that it shouldn't have. I mean, ok, with the term KlanMusik I kinda understand that it refers to ku-klux ideologies ... but not with the word Klan per se ... and I also find it wrong that just with the term KlanMusik a whole ideology is attached to it, that's not right, but that's what those bands are doing because in front of the authorities they an say "oh, it's neutral, it has no meaning" ... these bastards... Holocaust can't be misunderstood, there is only one Holocaust. But Klan... meh... Anyway, you, Cannibal Holocaust dude ... your logo with the sign of the national symbol of the jews and the word "Holocaust" over it, that's really not very good, you know. No matter what your music is like (yes, I want samples too! GIVE ME!).

What's wrong with the word "Klan"?

Retro topic! Cool Before trance I was listening to radio and such stuff. I remember that show that was called "Austria Top 40" ... I listened to that every friday ... gosh, that is already ancient... From that time I remember Dune - Million Miles Away From Home ... and Robert Miles - Children ... those were my favourite songs on a chart sampler CD I had gotten back then ... I never bought another chart sampler because the CDs were sooo expensive for me, I couldn't afford. The sampler has been a present for finishing a semester or so. At that time I had just 3 or 4 CDs for more than a year long, I couldn't afford any others and I was listening to those four until death... But then, after a year or more or so, it changed. I borrowed a trance CD from a friend of mine back then. And that was the start. ... Disco Citizens - Footprint ('97 Revamp) was probably one of the first tunes that really got me into trance. I also remember liking Paragliders - Oasis and Energy 52 - Cafe Del Mar... and The Visions Of Shiva - How Much Can You Take I also was a big fan of DJ Quicksilver back then ... Free, Planet Love, I Have A Dream,... And Talla 2XLC! I also liked Talla a lot back then. And Taucher. Over time trance got more popular and I also got to own some CDs because me and my friends, we discovered these CD fares where the discs were sold in used condition, but pretty cheap ... I finally started to collect because these used ones were something I could afford. A peculiar tune along the road was Chicane - Saltwater ... it got totally stuck in my head because it was played so much on the radio here. My gosh, back then NRJ still broadcasted trance ... now they are already rnb almost as far as I can think back. Man, time moves fast. Talla vs. Taucher - Together '99 I remember too from that time. I then later discovered the online scene and started downloading ... tunes from that time were DJ Tiesto - Urban Train and much other trance in that vein ... PvD, AvB ... and Mauro Picotto, I was a great Picotto fan back then. That was then also my first time I was going to a clubbing as he came to Vienna... And yeah, not even a year later I discovered goa. It was through Astral Projection that I got hooked. Dancing Galaxy, People Can Fly ... yeah. And then there came Koxbox and Saikopod - my first live gig I attended. And I instantly got hooked on that sound. About that time I also must have found here and asked my first questions already

If they want to arse black metal with that name (and picture) and their music is good I think it's funny. but if they're not doing anything special the name's just attention-whoring around...

I know Texas Magnusson It's good, about on the same level of "good" as the Darkness remix ... but I don't seem to be that much of a sucker for an effective melodic hook... (hmmm, this is actaully interesting ... what am I a sucker for, musically? I don't really know ) Hmmm ... not uninteresting, those recommendations ... I'm prelistening right now on Beatport and I must say some of the stuff I find there does not sound bad - like Llopis - Back In The Days or Snake Sedrick - Find Me or Thomas Penton - Deeper Vowels (NOT the andre absolut remix!) ... it seems like I have to dig around more in the progressive house category since I like that type of sound a lot... The Echölab EP is not bad either, especially the Junk remix...
-
"Bayo" ... checking out right now ... it's good, also the Playmaker dub (that is even better than the original)! I guess I'll check out that Playmaker project then... The Darkness remix is the best Ticon according to you? I don't know so much from Ticon, but there's stuff from them that I like better ... Some Simple Sounds for example...
-
You mean the Tribal Thing/Tuf Tuf/Tiger Inside vinyl, huh? I checked samples of that ... I like the sound of Tribal Thing best ... is the piece worth getting? I like the original version of Darkness better than the Ticon remix because the Ticon remix is too trancy and sounds too stressed to me, you know ... the original has a sort of deeper progression and clubby feeling to it, which is what I like so much in that song and which is not present in the remix...
-
aw, come on nobody here knows Chris Pointdexter? damn where shall I ask then?
-
I own this track already for some time, but only recently I discovered again how good it actually is! (And I mean the original, the Ticon remix is not as good.) I love this nice moderate but steady progression and the club feeling that it has to it... Is there anything similar out there? Where can I find such stuff? Is this already beyond the traditional psy scene?

You know what's funny? Always when some mate wants me to listen to a song on his discman/mp3-player and gives me the earphones, I always have to say that he has to turn the volume down, I can't take it so loud! I mean, I then always imagine that he listens to the music when he's alone at that volume ... I really think that isn't good for the ears, but I don't say anything, I'm not his nanny, you know. And always when I give people my stuff to listen they go: "louder, dude, I can't hear shit!" So obviously I'm listening to rather lower volumes ... but I really don't percieve them as low, I percieve them just at the right volume! Once I turned the volume up to the level I just find acceptable, anything more and it would be uncomfortable ... and then I gave my mate the headphones and he was like "??? ... that's pretty low volume, you know..." I mean, at which levels do you listen, people, it is damaging your ears! In the subway I sometimes sit next to people that have turned up the volume on their earphones so lout IT'S TOO LOUD FOR ME EVEN THOUGH I SIT NEXT TO HIM and don't have the plugs in the ears! How DEAF will people become? It's insane. PROTECT YOUR EARS! This night, at the Human Blue gig I forgot my earplugs. I entered the dancefloor room and backed off, so loud the music was to me. I thought I'd go deaf, then I had the idea for rescue: I hurried to the toilets, grabbed some of the tissues there (as long as there still are some, because after some time it's just a mess there) and rolled myself custom earplugs. I spent like 10 minutes just rolling them, adapting them to the right size and right thickness to let just the right amount of sound through. And it helped. I walked home today without the "biiiiiiiiiiiiii-" noise in the ears and even the cars passing by I could hear like they really were next to me and not some miles away. PROTECT YOUR EARS!

Aaaah, this *beeep* tone when you hear too loud music is already a prequel to permanent tinnitus! If you are listening often at that level your chances of permanent hearing damage are sky high... For god's sake, people, care for your ears and use EARPLUGS while DJing! Then the sound of the speakers won't bother you so much and you hear the headphones at an ear-friendly level. Try it and experiment with different earplugs ... there are some who block too much & some who block too little... (pro ear filters are too expensive, that's why I can't say anything about them) And also while partying out, protect your ears! I remember this girl in my class who was a DJ and always wore earplugs both while mixing or just partying out. The risk of ear damage is just too high.

"Fuckin' A, it's I.F.B. ..." I'll check that out

don't forget GOA-HEAD, my favourite compilation I still love the title despite it's not goa anymore what they put on their discs. But Goa-Head is the best example of how well a compilation series that started with goa trance back in the days has dynamically developed with the scene and thus nowadays still manages to surprise me with some awesome psytrance tunes. And I also like it because they have it in the pun in their title ... "goahead, goa head", you know ... it's a message for people like you, Ale, that always bitch about nowadays and glorify the old days but forget that there is something brilliant out there today aswell. I agree that todays psytrance shouldn't be called goa trance anymore. Goa trance for me is somehow the oldschool stuff ... thus I agree with Ale on that point. And in the scene here we already knew that long ago and use the specific genre terms such as prog or fullon. But the non-knowing people out there, they still call it goa ... if I tell people I'm going to a prog-psy party they all make strange faces, but if I just say "oh, I'm going to a goa festy" everybody knows instantly. I only use the term for communication outside the scene anymore, because out there many people know about goa, but hardly anybod knows about psy. And a reason for that is also the mass-marketing of this goa spirit and symbols by big commercial labels such as YSE ... in Saturn (an electronic market) I can see loads of YSE "goa trance" (the shelf section is called like that!) CDs nowadays! It just is like that...

np: Silicon Sound - Strange Planet...

I pay 10 Euros for it and this is no joke, I mean it (because I wanna boyct those fkin' price-drivers!) my offer is still valid anybody wanna sell?

... Cinos ... isn't he on SecondLife aswell? He mentioned that somewhere ... he might even have been there at that virtual party But I'd never ever try to even remotely compare that virtual crap to the real experience. I mean, come on ... if a screen image and sound from your computer speakers can give you the real experience of a psy party then your psy party experiences must have been pretty shallow. Admit it. Just the special smell of cig smoke, fog fluid, weed and incense sticks is one thing I can't have the virtual way and still wouldn't wanna miss at any cost. And the loud music that makes even the little hair on your arms move in rhythm ... and the cool people, the interactions with the world ... and this wonderful feeling of really being there. You never could have that virtually. I personally find it sad and pathetic to attempt to try adapting this to the real thing. Sure, it is some form of gathering and communication, nothing against that ... for people that can't go out much and such ... can even be nice ... but it's not the real deal, that's a fact. You can't say you have been on a psy party when having attended such a virtual gathering. No way.

That's not really bad news that the live has been cancelled ... this way I save a lot of money Next time they hopefully still perform a live somewhere in Europe ... at best somewhere in eastern Europe, then it will be cheap...
-
What music are you listening to right now?
RTP replied to Sputum Rotgut's topic in General Psytrance
Silicon Sound - The Jaguar and I have to think of Cinos... I didn't intend to ... I just had to... -
Oh... Well, yes, you're quite right ... although there are some tracks which I remember having heard way more than once. Back in the days it was S-Range's "Test Tones" ... and as I finally had the track I was going "aaah, now THAT is this one I like so much " And also nowadays I recognize some songs played more than once. Magnetrixx' "Zipfel" was one of them. And also some other fullon ones ... I recognize them because of the samples.

On Goabase my nick is Incensum ... but my activity there is mostly limited to just using my partytimer (and occasionally rating a party with a review that nobody read anyway, so I also gave that up...)
