  1. ... Ale as we know him YES. and on topic: 3/5 I'd say. There is a load of crap out there, yes, especailly full on but also some other ... but if you look around you will really find some decent stuff. It just depends. If you draw a line (and exclude the crappiest craps ) you have a solid 3 IMO. I voted for that.

    Sick

if I was sick I'd listen to chill music ... like Chilling Goddess compilation (out on Peak records) or something like that... Or Healer. I guess Healer would heal me
  3. I still wouldn't like it. Already the thought makes me nervous. Or you don't even need to steal it - if only anybody would snatch my credit card number ... damn, that could already cost me a fortune ... in fact that is even more dangerous than when it gets stolen ... oh no no
  4. I have none of those albums except the Vibrasphere one. I'd be very happy if I could get Jikkentekki's Long Walk Home ... have heard many positive statements about it and still don't know it, so it would be very cool if I could get one of them 10 And a big thank you for giveaways like this to us - no matter whether I get anything or not
  5. Well, yeah, time for credit card, huh? But I don't want one! What if I can't restrain myself from buying and buying (I'm afraid I can't ... once I got money I'll buy and buy...)? Or what if it gets stolen? they got a bank account in the UK...
  6. Okay, I'm very pissed off. VERY. And I'm not even pissed off at Saiko Sounds themselves, in fact they actually aren't responsible for any of this. I just want to illustrate, since we had a pretty heaty discussion with mister Radi about the money that psy shops charge you for shipping/COD/whatever. My own experience: Note how the shipping price is almost as high as the price I pay! And I have chosen Airmail btw, not courier! I know that vinyls cost more shipping, but that's quite a lot, ey? But that was not the real point why I meade that thread here. I know, shipping is a lot, but I knew that before, I could have cancelled the order. But I accepted it and didn't do anything. But now here it comes: The total amount above translates to EUR 35,36 ... nothing bad here, but now listen: I have been at the bank just right now. And guess what I have paid in total! Are you sitting? Because here is the amount: 56,21 EUROS!!! :o Did you read that? 56,21 EUROS! Hellooo? That is 74,888583 U.S. dollar!!! I FREAKIN' PAID MORE THAN THREE TIMES AS MUCH AS THE NET PRICE AT SAIKOSOUNDS! They don't even SEE two thirds of that money! And now you see why I can't even be pissed at them Saikosounds dudes, they don't even have anything to do with this - I still wrote it to them, they should know! It's the bankas! Money transfer to the UK! Costs! A lot! Not like other EU countries where it's for free (so I thought), no, no! Damn suckers! I really am pissed off now Yes. I really am DAMN pissed off now! Which is why I made that thread here right now, because I don't want others to get as pissed off as I am now! I WARN you, it's freakin' expensive when you have no credit card! Any other experiences like this? Please don't make me feel so alone and ripped off now, I'm really angry and sad now and actually I made that order to have fun, not to be pissed off ... I really didn't think it would be that bad
  7. I know, they are in Austria and would be the ideal shop to order, but they didn't have the stuff I wanted, Saikosounds have it
  8. Eeeh ... wait ... now there are more differences ... have they been here before and I didn't notice or are they new? I now think it looked better as it was earlier...
  9. I don't notice a change except that the post window is a different one
  10. yes, I have ... this is the only thing that works... Doing this currently with Saikosounds. But the shipping prices are still damn high there ... I understand because it's coming from Hong Kong, but still ... almost as much as I pay for the goods I pay again for shipping ... damn...
  11. E-Card? What is that? Sounds interesting...
  12. How about the offer of us all being more polite, hmmm? I was actually attempting to start a discussion about the COD prices there above

maybe they smell of sweat and a little earwax, are little damaged, dirty ... when I would say "they have served their time well" I'd mean exactly that Anyway, I used Philips SBCHP550 ones ... was very satisfied with them until "they have served their time well" ( ). They have a sound with more focus on deeper frequencies. Good for Etnoscope-style music ... I still love to dig 'em out and listen to some Etnoscope on them occasionally I then used Philips SBCHP430 ones, but I was not satisfied. The sound was too high with too few deeper frequencies. If you are into melodies and stuf you "could" like it, but I wouldn't recommend them. The pepper was missing with them. Fortunately a friend bought them off me, so I had no financial loss. Now I have Sony MDR-V150 and I'm pretty satisfied. Not top quality sound (surely won't be like your skullcrusherz), but they are very good headphones for a lower price. They have pepper in the sound but don't focus on deep frequencies. I really like them because they have a clearer and a bit higher sound than the SBCHP550 had while not losing the pepper in the sound, so I could listen to all tracks again that I only had heard with the 550 before and discover new synth layers, hidden melodies ... it was cool At home I use AKG K55 ... they are bulky, but the sound is very good. Deep frequencies as well as higher ones are covered up and coming through well. Rich bass they have. I love them, they are the best sounding headphones I have and I have them already for 5 years easily. It's AKG quality while not being as good sounding as top notch studio headphones from AKG, but still, really decent sound ... they weren't expensive as well as I can remember...
  14. that's also my opinion though I love vinyl because it has this warm and good and rich sound Vinyl is perfect format for ambient, psychedelic, progressive and electronic ... everything that experiements with soundscapes, synthesizers and all that. Vinyl is perfect format for that because its warm way of sounding harmonizes a lot with electronic music. Commercial trance or hardcore would not fit on vinyl for me, it's too harsh, no warmth in the sound. Neither does metal. The harsh and rough metal music sounds do not fit on vinyl, harshness and warmth don't go well together IMO. Metal fits better on tapes! Tapes enhance the roughness factor through their not-that good sound quality and the fact that they also wear off with time ... on an old metal tape the music sounds like it comes from the basement - and that is cool for me! With me tapes have concerning metal the same cult factor that vinyl has concerning electronic music
  15. I don't have a credit card. And I won't get one, since I don't have an income. So what can I do than buying by COD? Months ago I tried buying the S-Range single from Psyshop with COD. The price for the single was 5 Euros. The price for COD was 17 EUROS! Now, am I an imbecile or what? Paying three times as much for COD than what I'm paying for the goddamn single itself? Hello? Earth to Psyshop? Anything wrong with this? And NO, I am not the type of rich bastard that can afford to order 6 CDs at once so that the COD costs spread up like lumpi suggested! I just CAN'T! I could maybe, but then I'd be doomed for a month abstinence of beer and not going out on weekends and only sitting at home drinking water and eating stone hard bread ... I can't torture my soul and body like that, I am no masochist. So what real options are left? None! I can't afford ordering from psyshops, that's why I never have! BTW, I then got this S-Range single from a local psy store. I'm lucky to have something like this in town. Paid 10 Euros for that single (still a lot if you ask me - for a single, goddamn, I normally can afford only half the price for full albums!) ... but what the heck, it was at least cheaper than ordering from an internet psystore. I personally find it discriminating that people in the psy community that have no credit card are litterally ripped in two with ridiculously high COD fees. my 2 cents on the COD issue ... But Radi, what did I read there above? You HAVE a credit card? I mean ... when you have one then why the heck are you complaining like a madman here - go use it! If you're a paranoid bastard then I think you DESERVE to pay more for COD! You deserve to be ripped off! Otherwise you'll never learn! I mean, having a creditcard and not using it ... that detail makes your thread like one of the most stupid threads you ever made. I would have the right to complain (and I did here above), but please go kick yoursef in the ass until you can't sit anymore for not using your goddamn creditcard... *headshot*
  16. So does that mean if I am diplomatic then you like me and if I'm honest then you don't? If I, for example, would think the kick you use is horrible and I am not telling you that "it's horrible", but that "it might be in the need of improving it somehow" you'd like me better than otherwise? You know, that is a form of that stuff we call "ass-crawling" in Austria : "In den Arsch kriechen." If I would produce a track I'd appreciate people's honest opinions. If somebody thinks it's shit and rubbish he/she should have the right to say so without being disliked by me! In fact I'd be thankful for it if it's pointed in a constructive way (like "goddamn, put more attack on that kick, I can't even hear jack shite here!"), because it would give me to think "maybe many other ones that say it's all good and nothing else are maybe only crawling up my arse?" In the end it's my own decision anyway, my own opinion if I decide to improve the track or not... You should be thankful for every comment, for good and bad ones ... and especially if they are posted in a constructive way. The best critics are constructive ones (what would I do with a mere "it's all rubbish" comment anyway...), so be thankful.
  17. I'd choose the vinyl seriously ... if you asked me a month earlier or so then I'd have said CD, but I'm beginning to love vinyl over everything...
  18. I don't know anything about mastering, so I will not say anything whether the mastering of this one is good or bad (but I must agree that it is kinda strange why you suddenly got such an outburst up there, Radi? And totally unmotivated as it appears to me...). Anyway, to the track ... I really didn't expect you to be that skilled with synths, Radi. Respect for the synthesizers. I could not do that, no way. It's even quite good despite this is not the type of psychedelic trance I love. If you want constructive critics, then I'd recommend you to improve the kick as somebody said earlier. It's so soft that it's hardly audible. A more powerful kick wouldn't do bad. And the same with the bassline too - I can hardly hear it. And yes, it's kinda monotonous too ... you should bring in another melody somehow, a change in the track ... whatever, it's up to you. But first improve bass and kick please... Apart from that I like it. And respect to the synth work again, I really didn't expect this

    Matenda - Bonaca

Matenda - Bonaca Artist: Matenda Title: Bonaca Label: Spirit Zone Recordings Catalog#: Spirit Zone 091 Format: Vinyl, 12" Released: 2001 Track listing: logo side {A}: Bonaca info side {B}: Mission Impossible Review: I can't help myself, but I love this record. I just have it since a bit more than one week and it's already the most often played vinyl I own Although this record has been released in the same year as Matendas debut album "Energy Loader" the sound on it is a bit different to what the listener would expect when having heard the former. The sound on here is not so floating and scando-trancy but rather stomping and progressive. The track "Bonaca" on the A side is the a bit calmer one of the two and starts off somewhat floating with a sample about "being in the fields of vibration", but the floatingness is soon forgotten once the kick and bassline - which is by the way quite original - come in. What follows then is a progressive cocktail very suitable for continuously shaking one's ass to it. No major buildups, breaks or melodies here, just plain good old un-stressy feet stomping with a bit of synth elements here and there in the background. I like it quite a lot because of the bassline, it makes this one a real "stomper" if I may say so. On the B side we have "Mission Impossible". This one is darker and faster (not that much bpm-wise, but because of a completely different bassline) than "Bonaca" and it also has more going on synth-wise. A sharper and darker sound altogether, with a less stomping, but more pushing atmosphere. There's tension, progression, rhythm, samples in between and it also gets more intense towards the end and gains tension with even another synth layer ... this track has quite some dancing off potential! I really like it very much - in fact this track was the reason why I decided to get this vinyl, because I only could listen to a sample of that tack, but I liked it so much I decided to buy the piece! Well, that was it about the tracks. But the thing that I really like on this EP is the sound itself! It's a pretty uniquely rich and deep and clear sound ... one that is not present elsewhere, for example on Matenda's Energy Loader release, which I own too. I can't really describe it better, but that is the reason I truly love it. Every oscillation fits here and the tension and progression and the rich sound makes it very enjoyable to listen to! A quite good and suggestable release and an especially interesting one for those who only know the melodic and floating side of Matenda and would like to hear something different from him
  20. No, to be honest, I wouldn't like to see any of them on TV. I think that would only further foster commercialisation and the "star hype complex" that has brought the scene so much negative things already...
  21. *downloading* hey, that's 20 minutes of music ... cool finally some serious album preview, not such a shortie as the teaser on their site ... when hearing this one can definitely gain some good impression of the new album. hmmm ... what can I say ... to me it sounds somewhat a bit more polished than their first album ... but fortunately the acidness of their sound isn't gone, you can still recognize that it's Carbon Based Lifeforms, with their typical calm organic and even a bit melancholic floating scandinavian ambient thanks a lot for the link EDIT: HEY, now I know it where I know that melody! The calm background synth melody in the first track - this quiet ascending "daaaaa-daaaaa-daaaaa" (beginning at 1:24 of the file) - it's EXACTLY the same tones as they are in Arcana's song "The Last Embrace"! Or isn't it?
  22. indeed ... I'll watch out for this guy
  23. ask if you can transfer the money directly to their bank account could work in many cases, I'm sure about that just ask
