Dragon Twins - Only For The Wicked (Neogoa)
johnb820 replied to Richpa's topic in Artist News and Labels announcements
I think last we heard he was working on Daimon material, but that was a while ago. I hope he's still working on new music too! As for Dragon Twins, I have no doubt this album will be amazing. There's a hell of a lot of interesting stuff coming out on Neogoa this year, artists with fresh styles and ideas.- 21 replies

Radi, I really like your description of MFG! Those are exactly the kinds of words I would use. Like a hand full of goa trance projects at the time, they made perfect use of the big over exaggerated kicks, not quite to nitzho levels but still deep, powerful, and heavy which complemented their dark twisted melodies. I like your words, "as if something big is expected". It's that larger than life sound that is so awe inspiring, but yet mysterious because you don't know what the big thing is supposed to be.

I am not sure what kind of mood from the melodies you are looking for, but maybe this is it... Ethereal - Moondawn https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UZ-7mca_wwY

Guys we must have done something right to be rewarded like this! This sounds wonderful!

Well, I'm poor again so I can't afford this album so... no bug here! -
And you thought you could trick us into thinking this artwork has no symmetry! I see the triangles at the top showing a perfect display of tri-radial symmetry.

I'm not exactly sure why Avi and Lior don't just pull the plug on AP and start a new project with a fresh style. I guess it depends on the level of involvement they want.

Hey Desysko have you seen Mamoru Oshii's earlier feature length Angel's Egg? Really interesting movie if you like philosophical, slow moving symbolism. As for recent movies, I just watched Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom.

Maybe they were inspired by this cover... -
Awesome catch! I too listened to Self-Existing Earth and I loved the way he combined roots reggae, dub with electronic effects driven parts. I had that album playing quite a bit at my old job where we used to be able to play music in the back. I will give Gratitude a listen!

Dark, dissonant melodies with a floating atmosphere, slow building trancey layers and old school bass lines.

The most complex goa trrance was written by Etnica/Pleiadians
johnb820 replied to radi6404's topic in General Psytrance
In terms of layers, I think Filteria has to win in that category. In terms of musicality, there are many artists who have made more complex music, although that does not necessarily mean better. Pleiadians definitely had a very fascinating and well though out approach to melodic structures. -

Very awesome! I was beginning to think we would never hear from this project ever again. -
Awww, maybe he even secretly likes Shpongle too!

First, if you are like some 80% of the planet then I assume you drink coffee or tea, or otherwise consume caffeine, which is the last thing you need in your body. I don't like wanting to recommend a drug, but if it's sleep you are looking for, my solution was kratom, a legal organic opiate like plant. Without sleep, none of your other solutions will work. Your mind and your body needs to recharge itself and you need to calm the mind in order to fall asleep. I would not sacrifice sleep over anything as it is the single most important thing for the human body outside of food and water.

That is one very dazzling cover. -
Ah RLM. I've been a fan of theirs since Mr. Plinkett's Phantom Menace review. Those guys and their hard work is inspiring.

I'll try to stop in to that chat when I can.

First of all I wanted to say that I enjoy this EP by Carbon, who is Ratislav Ac from Piestany, Slovakia. The style here is driving and intense with solid melodies and lots of acid lines, similar to Cosmic Dimension or Arronax. The second track, Bergamot, launches into some nice eastern melodies while Jupiter feels a bit more uplifting. The EP ends on a melancholic downtempo track that starts off straight forward and ends on several key changes with some odd saxophone sample, probably the only part I can't quite get in to. Haha. When I saw that this EP was being offered to purchase from an on-demand distribution website, Kunaki, I was partly curious about how it all works. So I bought the album, it was shipped a couple days later and it came in the mail not long after that. The actual quality of the product was definitely on the cheap end. The CD smelled strongly of ink as if they oversaturated the disc when printing the art work on it, but otherwise everything else was fine. It seems the artists on Kunaki get to receive a large majority of the sales in the form of a monthly payment, so Mr. Ratislav Ac enjoy a drink on me and thanks for the great music. I hope to hear more from you.

I was going to say Project Genesis as well, although over time I've come to believe that the dense sound of that album was probably an artistic decision. It goes hand in hand with the dark cyborg inhuman quality of the album.

Just finished watching Predator. Quality filmmaking, so much fun.

Ah, you are right actually. I had the assumption that a CD can only hold 74 minutes but after some research it seems a standard red book CD can be overburned to hold up to 80 minutes. Still pretty close to that limit with this album though!

Yes I was going to say Artifact303 as well. The newschool style is pretty melodic, lots of bright shiny synths, very busy track arrangements, fast paced yet never dull bass lines, higher bpm. A lot of newschool also tends to make more use of consonant chords, minor pentatonic, some major stuff like Nebula Meltdown.
