  1. Seeing as how this is a forum for people interested in psychedelic music, I am here to introduce you all to the master of psychedelic insanity, Omar Rodriguez-Lopez. He has released some 30 solo albums and countless others as part of other bands. While he is primarily a guitarist and most of his music is rock, he always puts lots of effects and extra synths in his music that I think it was worth mentioning on this forum. He has done stuff that I still can't comprehend and I can only compare some of it to artists like Hallucinogen.
  2. To which I genuinely apologize.
  3. Thank you for the tips guys! I really appreciate it. I guess it will just take some practice and a lot of guessing.
  4. Does anyone have any basic tips for applying limiters and/or compression if at all? I have no idea how these kinds of things work other than that you can boost the volume of your track at the detriment of some of the dynamics. Hard limiters can result in very harsh scratchy sounds depending on what you use it on because you are literally altering the wave by cutting off the peaks at certain amplifications. I am also vaguely aware of artists applying compression to kick/bass in order to get a tighter sound. I hear a lot of trance artists do this on typical trance pads to get the trademark "trancey" leads. You can get your bass line or any part of your track to sort of "dip" around the kicks or whatever you want and boost the overall volume but I would have no idea how to properly do this. The thing I worry about is that doing this would make it much harder to mix because maybe there are steady peaks at an appropriate db but you hear something completely different.
  5. I can't wait to hear it! I really enjoy your work.
  6. Not telepathy, but a singular global consciousness. One night I came to the conclusion that emotions and feelings are a sixth sense that humans are born with. We have a natural ability to understand how one is feeling whether we have audible/visible proof or not. Like an energy wave being transmitted, we receive the vibrations of the world around us. We lie to ourselves too much, saying that no one understands how we feel. People try to hide their feelings, but deep down we know how they truly feel. If you believe that you understand another human being, then you do even if in reality it seems to have escaped you. Like any other sense, this one can be improved with careful practice, like someone giving more thought to what they hear, or focusing more on what they are seeing. My faith is in empathy, the most human gift of all. And the proof is in you and I, self affirming and pure.
  7. Lights of Shibuya. Whoa. Edit: Review coming once I let this madness sink in.
  8. Any chance this could go up on bandcamp soon? I am really really tight on money until people actually start paying me, but I would really love to listen to Lost in the Wilderness legally if you know what I mean . Also, by the way, the deals in the suntrip store right now are amazing! I wish I wasn't poor.
  9. If all else fails, there is still steam and mechanical power. Running out of fossil fuels would likely mean we as a society would have to take a large step back, or face the costs of alternative energies, or both. This may sound bizarre, but people do not actually need cars. Sure, cars are efficient and many of us take full advantage of that convenience but we could just as easily walk, bike, or take electric powered mass transit options. Streetcars could realistically return for a low cost. It's just that we are addicted to the conveniences of the modern age. Many call it egotistical of us to continue running our course like this. We live in a very ego driven age and I believe that in my lifetime (I am 24) we will see the slow decay of this way of life.
  10. The most amazing part of radi's story is not that he sleeps in a chair, but that he manages to fall asleep after consuming a cup of black tea with all its lovely caffeine and possibly sugary goodness.
  11. Filteria - In The Heaven's Eye
  12. I've had dreams of goa/psy trance playing in buses, cafes, bars, televisions and the world becoming a better place.
  13. Somafm.com for groove salad, space station soma, sonic universe, and sometimes drone zone.
  14. Getting hired for a dishwashing job only to not get any shifts the second week there while I am literally down to the last of my money.
  15. She does not have any pupils. Her whole eye is blue like the color of her irises. I guess she is wearing some sort of colored eye contact in the video.
  16. I hear carrier pigeons are pretty good with CDs strapped to their backs.
  17. I just wanted to add a couple reasons why someone should continue to buy CDs. First, taking good care of them, they will last a very long time. I can't tell you how many digital files I have lost over the years from hard drive crashes, dead music players, etc. Second, CDs can be resold. Just look at the price of goa trance CDs from the 90s or Shpongle albums. Their price goes up but even if it doesn't, even if you sell it at 50% off that's still better than nothing. You get the nice beautiful artwork and the satisfaction of holding and seeing something physical. I personally wouldn't have it any other way. But business is business unfortunately. Somnesia is right. Youth unemployment is a major problem all across developed countries. In Spain nearly half of all young people are unemployed. In Canada and the United States and Britain nearly a quarter of all young people are unemployed. I would assume that most people interested in psytrance are probably young people. I could not blame them for pirating music if they have no job, or just as bad a job that pays very little where their priorities go to rent and food.
  18. What happened to her pupils in certain parts of the video?
  19. Seriously. That is one awesome cover. I really really mean it.
  20. If Simon is in the position to even ask that question, then I can't imagine it really matters what that sort of project would go under. Of course he could always just call it The Simon Godford Experience with album covers featuring his vacation pictures.
  21. Personally the pinnacle of goa trance production is Ethereal's Moondawn from Opus Iridium. Just listen to that with a really really good pair of open ear headphones and let the melodies caress your ears until you come with ecstacy. I don't much care for the kick or bass line on that track but everything else is supremely made.
  22. You know what this means radi? You now have to become a producer and impress her with your talents influenced by Boris Blenn!
  23. We need Imba here to confirm all of this.
