I don't think think 'morning psytrance' exist because it's same thing as full-on. Those tracks are full-on, especialy last one, classic definition Just like we like to use it Goa trance for example Morning, Acidic, Darker etc they use same so they can describe style.

Are there any "next level" goa/psy producers right now?
Imba replied to winterelegy's topic in General Psytrance
Again I must say we should be less limited with so called 'standards about style'. Goa came from lot's of genres and styles, why is problem when we do same today? That's why we can't move on to another stage, sadly. Also I noticed problem with 'home-listening only'. Yes, we all do listen at home and review based on such experience. But this is huge mistake imo. I have 'hated' some of the artists or releases, but when I heard them on party woooow, boom, so much better! I understand some people stoped going to parties for this or that reason but keep in mind that every electronic dance genres are made for dancefloor. It's supposed to sound good on dancefloor -

Myself. In my opinion I believe that's next level/next stage of Goa Trance, maybe not now but in couple of years. Old school is great, I mean is amazing. But this is not 90s. We should move on, try not to recycle. Goa Trance is my love and life but I do dig other styles and 'tricks' they use. When I start producing I don't care about 'standards' style based like this is goa, this is not, this is fullon, this is prog. I just do what I feel and what drives me. But even more important stuff is sound quality. It's 2017 with all these tools around, again most of tracks sound worse than those made 20 years ago... No, not really. IMO standards are pretty low as stated in last sentence up... But I don't blame just artists. It's the problem with whole scene. If artist makes really clean and modern sound then he is attacked by listeners for 'making fullon', so is the label for releasing it. So they stop doing it... At this moment I would say Filteria/K.O.B, Cosmic Dimension, Celestial Intelligence, Crossing Mind, E-Mantra. They are doing it their way, how they do melodies, basslines, kicks, other elements in tracks and their own way of mixing. It's easy to recognize their work when played in ocean of other artists. Everyone can make 303 but their stands out and that's the signature of the artist. Production. So if you are at party and you recognize their music in few secs, that's it. -
Try Cosmosis albino bank with 1/32 notes, some amazing sounds in there and its free http://cosmosis.co.uk/freebies/cosmosis-albino-and-virus-b-sounds

Professional is actualy pretty simple, amateurism is complex. I was happy to be booked and play again as I did first 2 editions and played other BGF events between but... there are unwriten laws and they are pretty simple, you just need to follow and respect them! What means you booked artist? - you reserved artist for that date - advanced transport (flights, trains, buses, petrol, etc...) - fee (most of guys do ask at least 50% in advance, some 100%) - acomodation (normaly by artist choice, no bring-your-tent stuff!, and enough food and drink daily basis) That's standard thing, some of us have some more or less extras, someones contract is more detailed and so on. But if you booked me, and you know my 'standards' or my conditions to have me playing on your event that means you accepted it. In this case, I knew nothing until week before festival, no chats, nothing! Then I have been told by organization (and ofcourse I wrote to them first) we wont pay you transport, just half. WTF? Then I start wondering... doing this music since 2008, this month is 9th aniversary, have released 2 full albums, loads of compilation tracks, remixes, collabs etc, 50+ tracks. Played on some major events on 3 continents, really deep into scene and music and I deserved this? Organization not to give fuck about me, not to show a minimal respect nor to the artist side nor to the human side. Not that they won't cover my transport cost, they also don't care how I will get there... Looking at 'career' I am almost senior, just imagine how they behave to new artist then??? I gave them few days to cancel me, announce and explain in public. They didn't so I had to do on my own because crowd need to know. They are innocent here. That was week before the festival and I first one to go public about this... So most of us ended with canceled gigs, lost date for possible others, lost money for taking days off from job, lost nerves. We have been used as mean to sell tickets and fraud innocents and just pushed away. I lost another gig at EXIT festival which has like 200k+ visitors. All we got are false hopes and 0 respect. As Mars explained with release sales going down so we almost don't get a money for our music. Gigs are only hope to get some and 80-85% of it going into investing and upgrading gear. Most of guys gets 200-300 euro per gig, 500 if they are lucky... and what is 200 euro if you live in expansive countries like England, Germany, Belgium, France, Finland, Sweden...? I know some of them literally not having enough for food but they are still doing it, because they fucking love it! Guys give everything for this music and deserve nothing? Have experienced all kind of terrible things inside scene but this is worst.

So with all of you being unhappy with new school... I am wondering, should we stop making it?

Who says old school is not plastic? Or even new school? We should still recycle same sounds and tricks they used 20 years ago? No thanks. This is proper sound for 2017 and it's crowd PS. It's not crystal clear, it's modern. Astrix is crystal clear, not this one.

Before start reading, look at this as possitive feedback which is a reason im writing Artist did outstanding job reworking some melodies by ear (not all ofc), it's not easy but i have to agree with: Even if I don't follow Goa trance for many years I am always checking samples to see if something will catch me and gave couple of listens... We all know how hard is to remix Goa trance classics and how easily you could get hated by crowd if it's not up by their taste, so you need to be brave, especialy when you remix such tracks from Etnica or Pleiadians. So he is brave, he is artistic, he is trying to be different (but not unique i would say) so this is a plus. I know many people are looking for something different. Even not my taste i dig that but... and now there is big BUT coming... Production? Where is the production? Been listening and suddenly noise come in and eat all percusions, hats gone, then some melody strike and eat whole mix and so on. It sounds to me like mixdown is done in rush, you know like when you are making structure and just putting them on channel without eq, compressing or automate things and i can't imagine how harsh and dangerous it can sound on huge sound systems... and this is biggest problem here, not some notes missing here or there. I am not sure why but artist is not new, he got some 'internship' in scene and music. True that. Original sound much more modern than this release. That's strange. So artisticly i would say it's 85% done, outstanding but production... i can't really say if it is 20-25% 'done'. If you ask me, artist should work months and months per track, just mixing and practicing. Conclusion: it's good release if you are looking something different, but not if you are looking for modern sharp and groovy sound. I still love what Federico and DAT are doing and they will have my support even if it is 'not positive' (ps cant wait to meet you in following months!) I just hope that Morphic Resonance or label will take all these replies as positive and constructive feedback from some of experienced people and musicians rather than as hate, or discouragement. Yet it's an art, not perfection. But here in community many people, many opinions but if you know to read between the lines... they can help you to advance in many ways Enjoy

Come to BGF this year, there will be plenty of kicks for everyone
-
Dimension 5 is old school but they still have heavy kicks, same with Man With No Name, Miranda, Shakta... It's all about balance in mixdowns or depends of style you prefer. Keep in mind they didn't have modern tools back in days or it wasnt important to have clean mix. These days we clean all synths/leads/fx bellow 200-250hz and above 10khz so there is more room for bass, drums and percs. With proper cleaning same kick can sound much more powerful 20 years ago was ok, today it's lame imo because most people just load old 909 kicks from their sample packs, put a bit extra bass on EQ, few minutes of job and thats it. That's what i find lame. Good kick takes days, same with bass and other elements. It won't overshadowing if you place it corectly in the mix. Kick is structure, main element, everything else is dancing around kick. Kick is actually victim here, layers are overshadowing kick if not mixed properly When you finish your track and start with mix, you always put all channels down then set kick first, then bass and everything around it. Place everything in it's own stereo and frequency field, cut and mix everything properly and no problem! It could be stylstic. I know much guys use thumpy kick because 'it is goa' and sharp and modern kicks are 'fullon kicks' and smiliar convictions. Which i found really stupid. 'Hey bro i like it dirty and bad sounding because it sounds like '96, so old school bro, pure goa bro!' and smiliar stories... why goa has to sound like '96? It's 2017 so you should make music for 2017, that's how i see it. There are no rules in music. But it's just my opinion

This one captured during interview for 'CONSCIÊNCIA em TRANSE' (Consciousness in Trance) documentary about Goa Trance in Brazil by PLUR Filmes e Produções Culturais. I had the pleasure to give my first video interview and talk about Goa Trance for good 8 minutes! Photo taken in Kundalini Festival

Headphones are my studio (?)
Imba replied to Event Horizon's topic in Music Making and Production/Industry
Low end is hard to clean on monitors, so headphones are perfect for that imo... and for some other things too. Whatever you choose it will be hard in beggining but after some time ears will get used to it
