PsySutra - Nebulla Cebulla (Neogoa Records)
Richpa replied to Richpa's topic in Artist News and Labels announcements
Files are already sent to mastering so I'm expecting to have some samples ready very soon. In the meantime I will get my ass to work on the artwork, so expect fresh updates very soon! -
Personally I think crowdfunding campaings gives a much needed independence to artists and I hope we will see more projects in psychedelic trance and ambient in the future. Slightly off topic, but I need to pull out one really great example how good strategy within campaing can do wonders, these guys (and yes, they're not such big name) raised over 125k in only 24 hours, but they had great communication, some interesting perks, transparent campaing and really healthy humor during the whole campaing. It's just one of the nice examples how fans can and are willing to support the good ideas and bands. Of course, they recorded the album making progress, introduced studio and all the details to fans, which was cool thing and idea Campaing link: https://www.indiegogo.com/projects/protest-the-hero-new-album--3#/

Elysium - Dance For The Celestial Beings II
Richpa replied to Drosophila's topic in Artist News and Labels announcements
Shit happens. His musical output shouldn't be mixed with his deals with party/festial organizers, especially because of people who pledged their money for the new record. Still I hope this record will happen, Elysium knows how to make some Goa music. -
I think Bandcamp offers unlimited streaming of releases someone purchases, plus it has nice collectors feature so everyone can have that account for free and build the collection. At least most of new Goa trance music is becoming more and more available on Bandcamp so there is a wide number of releases each month available there.

You look badass dude, I hope more videos are coming. My suggestion: Put some psycore music instead and do some wing chun (just for fun sake) https://youtu.be/gBxOU_IhtGQ?t=1m23s

Crossing Mind - Beyond Duality (SUNCD42)
Richpa replied to Anoebis's topic in Artist News and Labels announcements
It's always cool to see some eye-catching paintings becoming a CD artwork, something that should be done more often (we did one with Lectro Spektral Daze). This one looks very abstract and IFOish, it fits very well with Crossing Mind's music and it's nice to see it brings back some of the colors from his previous albums. I'm not the biggest fan of Crossing Mind, but I got the feeling that he will deliver another remarkable album. -
analog music is "warm" while software is "cold"...but why is cold bad?
Richpa replied to Agneton's topic in General Psytrance
IDK, to me personally it was fun, not comical in some bad way, a bit unusual and refreshing since there is no many artists who dare to sample themselves and mix that into their own music. For sure, it won't have the same effect as some sci-fi (I'm looking at you Matrix) movie, but it adds a little spark of originallity, especially when you make your own lyrics/text. Kristijan (Lunar Dawn) with Morana track also recorded his voice, I think Saša (PsiloCybian) also makes his own. Not sure about Ra with 9th opening, I always was curious about that intro (maybe Jos or Mars might know about that one...). -

I'm not 100% sure, but I think Bojan shift towards more Goa less nitzho sound will happen. This album is something for nitzhogoa folks and as such is worth of having it.

Nebula Meltdown, Antares, M-Run and New Born might be some examples that I personally dig. Not sure how to explain, but each record had well-balanced sound and recognizable feeling attached to the music.

You gave some really good points here and we understand that some people who prefer digital only option might feel ignored and neglected, but let's throw some facts before we make any conclusions. Usually for high quality audio format for 150 minutes of music you would pay 15-20 $ (that's the lower price range, usually some albums with running time of 75 minutes goes for more than 10 € depending on label/platform), in our case for double CD with approximatley 150 minutes of music you get the CD, shipping and probably some sticker for around 20$ (that was the case with debut Lunar Dawn album, which was also a double CD), so probably we will do something similar with this one too. Also, Bandcamp offers an optional digital download to all buyers and people who pre-order CD (I'm sure some people here are familiar with that option), so even you don't have to rip music from the CD (plus we always take care to stream music on our YouTube channel). In most cases when we had some sort of new content and we gave it for nyp option, some individuals would re-upload it and share it on other platforms without any permission from label or artist and that way they hurted us directly, damaging our work and effort. It's one of the reasons why we're taking down all non CC music from YouTube that doesn't include the permission from the label or artist. We could easily give new material for digital download with some reasonable price (heck, that would be an extra income for us), but basiclly the next day it would be available on different forums, on YouTube and so on. We talked with Kris and we decided this is the best idea for us at the moment and we really want to make everyone happy, especially long-time supporters (no matter do they buy CD or they donate for free music). Please, send me your Bandcamp supporter email address on PM and I'll give my best to get you the digital copy of the album after the release, because no one should be devasted.

I personally prefer (more) mastering with strong exposure of details inbetween the track arrangement over the general loudness and that way of polishing of certain release. But in the end it's not all white and black, a lot depends on artist (first thing is the difference in quality of mixdown, the other thing is the way how artist wants his music to sound in the end, and the last but not the least is the stylistic output). For example at Neogoa, artists who are gravitating more towards the old school type of sound (Veasna, Arronax, Dragon Twins, Negans) sounds more detailed and less loud and overall their sound has more dynamics. There are also examples of artists such as BlackStarrFinale, Lunar Dawn, Lectro Spektral Daze or PsiloCybian who are more sharper and less muddy, so the mastering process is slightly different too and they might seem a bit louder. I'm not some expert when it comes to sound but I guess you guys got some good points about the issue of loud Goa trance records and how it reflects, but let's not forget about the early days of so-called newschool movement where labels such as Ezel-Ebed, Metapsychic or Ultiva had basiclly superloud releases but without any sharpness, and a lot of music after being played on high volume started to cracks and had distortion. Don't get me wrong here, I really love a lot of stuff, but back than I never payed too much attention to the sound, it was the time when any new Goa trance music in all kind of forms and shapes was a gift from God. A lot depends on artists and their capability to make mix and prepare the song for final polishing and sometimes many of us are bashing mastering studios, in some examples without any valid reason. Guys such as M-Run, Colin, Schuldt, Deimos and all other who are in charge of mastering are doing great job, but you can't blame them when we have cases where artist doesn't deliver good enough mix or label prefers certain type of mastering. Generalisation isn't the solution, since there are examples of new Goa trance music that really sounds mesmerizing and has a great balance (on many different labels, by many different artists), the core issue is the communication and the way how artists who aren't that much experienced are willing to learn and input more time into preparing the mixdowns for mastering. We all should talk more openly about this, without being offended by other's opinion or personal taste and be more open towards new ideas and approaches, learn from each other and communicate, that way general picture will improve and become more coherent.

PsySutra - Nebulla Cebulla (Neogoa Records)
Richpa replied to Richpa's topic in Artist News and Labels announcements
Thanks guys for source material and permission to have this remix on this EP -
I don't see reason for anyone to be devastated, I mean we already gave almost 80 minutes of new UX for free download on our Bandcamp for all people who wanted to have it in digital format. Now it's time to give something to all collectors, and by that we want to make sure they get the exclusive content in top quality. If you purchase the CD you can rip it and convert to your favorite format. Also, we will make sure that everyone can preview the album on our official YouTube channel on the release day. I spoke to many people and a lot of them were interested in getting the CD but without being spoiled online, so we will make sure to post music on YouTube around the time of first shipments.

Negans - Danse Macabre (Neogoa Records)
Richpa replied to Neogoa's topic in Artist News and Labels announcements
Okay, I got the answer: Midori sample is from the anime "midori" (that's the English title) by Hiroshi Harada. Original title is: Chika Gentō Gekiga: Shōjo Tsubaki https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Shōjo_Tsubaki Apparently it's available on YouTube, but I guess it's not for everyone since it includes a lot of violence and rape scenes. I hope it helps- 21 replies

If you take a look at other branches of entertainment (besides music) you always get (under limited edition sets or boxes) some additional material. Sometimes it's different artwork, bonus audio-content or some nice goodies for die-hard collectors/fans. In music (bigger, mainstream) labels tend to follow that route, for example in metal community some labels include a wide-range of interesting items besides just CD or vinyl (music). For me personally the most important factor should be the number of copies compared to regular release. I can't speak for other labels, but in case of Neogoa, each release brings something different than the standard edition - sometimes it's bonus content (music), sometimes it's different artwork or mastering, sometimes it's extra digital content such as visuals or download codes for new material, the important factor is to value your followers/buyers with something different and new. Also, having a limited release doesn't mean you re-printing it after it's sold-out, that's false marketing and it's a big no-no in our case - when it's gone, it's gone for good. Each release published by us has been sold-out within 1-3 months (depending on the lenght of pre-order) and we never had more than 100 CD's available for sale, the biggest number available was Energy by Veasna (printed in 150 copies, but only 100 available through Neogoa and of course Bravo/Suntrip who distributed on their webshops). Conclusion: Avoid false marketing Include extra content (bonus tracks, exclusive download, alternative artwork) Try not to have some exotic packages (digipaks and CD's are always welcomed) Lower number of CD's printed in the beginning will give you much needed experience without (in worst scenarion) loosing too much money Just my 0,02$
